I never thought I'd see him again. Much less spend the night with him after almost a decade. He had chosen a life of servitude to God. I chose the path of Sin. But, somehow, some way, our lives crossed again and this time, not even my profession is enough to stop fate. This time, when the man I’ve spent my whole life trying to forget comes knocking, I know I'll be a fool not to answer.
My name is Miranda Michaels and I am no longer a call girl.
CATHARSIS is Book 4 and the final installment in the Lessons In Sin series. All books are interconnected but can be read as stand-alones.
This story melds the two sides of Miranda's life giving her a balance between her worlds. It's not an easy path to walk and is uncomfortable at moments, but at the end of the day both she and Jonathan are happy. And they have the absolute cutest HEA befitting their naughty yet nice ways.
Picking up seconds after the last book ended, this story is a tale of compromise. It highlights what makes a relationship different than a casual encounter. Their love is what makes them strong and brings them together as a couple.
Miranda Michaels gave up on love a long time ago. She accepted the fact that she would never have a family of her own. She understood that love would come one job at a time. And she regretting leaving her heart behind in Lavenham all those years ago.
Jonathan Sullivan made the decision to love God instead of a woman. He chose a life of solitude within the confines of the priesthood. He thought he was happy. He thought he was complete. That was until the day Miranda walked back into his life and left him questioning everything he thought he believed. Now he's experiencing life anew and learning that he can have faith while also finding happiness.
Catharsisis the fourth and final instalment in the Lessons in Sin series. And it was a great and fun read.
The book picks right off after the third one. Miranda sees Jonathan and he wants to have a relationship with her. He wants her to stop working as an escort and build a life with her. When they take a walk two men call Miranda a whore and Jonathan demands they apologize to her. When they don't, and he is about to punch them, he gets stabbed by them. Luckily no vital organs are hit and he recovers.
But he does want them to face justice. Miranda contacts her former step/foster brother, who is a known criminal and he tracks them down. Even though Miranda prepared Jonathan about what he would want in return, Jonathan is shocked. But eventually they both accept the conditions.
I won't spoil too much about it! But I was so shocked. I completely understand Jonathan's reaction. But my heart ached for Miranda as well.
The ending is very sweet and they both deserved it.
I know the books of Fiona Lust are short and hot. But Catharsis had less sex in it and build more on the bond and the consequenses of that bond between Miranda and Jonathan. It felt a little bit rushed. A lot of things are happening in just 43 pages. And I wished they were worked out more. That they had more depth. Especially the scene where he gets stabbed. I would have loved to read more of the anguish and the worry of Miranda. And I would have loved to see Jonathan recover.
Maybe it would be a good thing to bundle these four short stories in one book. So that it would have more of a novel-like feel to it. Instead of four short stories.
But overall it's a great and enjoyable story and I loved Miranda's whole journey through all four books!
This Lessons in Sin series has been awesome, and Catharsis completed Miranda and Jonathan's journey. Their turbulent up and down, and Miranda coming to terms with who she is, was demonstrative of struggles that almost destroyed their relationship. This story was a quick read and full of surprises and complication, with a very satisfying ending.
I had another book lined up to read, but when the ARC of Catharsis hit my Kindle, I had to dive into this one first. I've been waiting for the conclusion to Miranda and Jonathan's story since I first started this series of novellas and I surely wasn't disappointed.
I like to think of the books in the Lessons In Sin series as palate cleansers. They're the perfect stories to read in between other long, angsty, sometimes exhausting books. These stories are very quick reads. They are very HOT reads. And although they are purely erotic romance, I'm always left feeling a little something unexpected as I turn the final page. Book 4 in the series is no exception.
In this final installment, Jonathan has come back for Miranda. Jonathan has spent his life serving God while Miranda has lived a life of sin. Can these two honestly make a life together?
While in many ways this book was exactly what I was expecting...a quick, erotic story...it still took a couple of turns that I never saw coming. To say that I was shocked by the turn of events would be an understatement, and I honestly can't say how I really felt about all that went down here. In the end though, I got exactly what I wanted from this book and from this series. Catharsis is the perfect ending to Miranda's journey, and I'm so glad to have taken it along with her.
Holy moly!! This book was hot but also heartbreaking.
I was given this ARC by the lovely @selenamooreromance and its the perfect ending to Miranda's story. I don't wanna give too much away but book 4 has spice, true love and a little bit of agony. And wraps the whole story up with a little bow.
BOOK: Catharsis AUTHOR: Selena Moore (writing as Fiona Lust) PLOT: Jonathan has come back for Miranda! She comes home from the 48 hours of debauchery from Stripped, and finds Jonathan waiting for her at her door. Jonathan wants to give his relationship with Miranda a shot, but Miranda is hesitant because of her line of work. One day, Jonathan and Miranda go out and have a run in with a couple of Miranda's past clients, and it leads to a senseless act of violence against Jonathan. He wants to track down the people that almost killed him and bring them to justice. There's only one person that can help them though: Miranda's Stepbrother Sebastian. He wants to have a night of sex with his stepsister while Jonathan watches in exchange for the names of the men that hurt Jonathan. Will this tear Jonathan and Miranda apart, or will it only bring them closer? The ending had me crying!!! STORY RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ SPICE RATING: 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶
I loved this conclusion to this series. After all she went through, I'm happy they had a happy ending. I look forward to more books like these in the future. 💗
