With the Moretti family dissolved and no longer a threat to the Caponelli mafia dynasty, Nick Caponelli has found his place at the top as Don and for the last five years he and his wife Ava have been living a charmed life with their three beautiful children.
All that changes when Nick finds a police officer at his door. But it’s not Nick the officer is after, instead it’s the man behind a sex trafficking operation that’s found its way into a local New York port and therefore on Nick’s turf. Ava urges Nick to take on the case in order to save as many women and children as possible, a cause felt deeply by her own past experiences.
But as Nick and Ava both get roped in deeper to the inner workings of the evil king pin Barella, things spiral quickly out of control. Soon they don’t even feel safe in their own home. With Ava struggling to digest everything that has been going on and Nick hell bent on finding Barella at any cost, the Caponelli bond is threatening to break, and the only thing that can save them is the unrelenting love Nick and Ava have for each other.
Nicole Knight is not just breaking ties with this thrilling sequel as Nick and Ava’s addictive love faces a new, and horrifying threat.
Five years have passed and The Caponelli mafia dynasty is thriving under Nick’s reign, the home he’s built with Ava and their children even more-so. But, the life of a Don is not without its dangers, and the shipment of bodies that made port and the horrors of a rising trafficking operation hitting a little too close to home may present the greatest threat of all.
The chills and suspense, the love and the heartache were so potent with this book, and Knight’s words dripped with the raw reality of a world that shouldn’t be. It was clear a lot of research had been done in regards to trafficking and the horrors that followed in its wake, and great care was taken in maintaining an authenticity that raised goosebumps and set my heart racing quicker than I could devour the words laid before me. It was disturbing how good this was!
I wasn’t sure how Knight would outdo their series debut, Ties That Bind Us, but they’ve certainly done it! Suspense and pain carried these words, love the ties that held these two together when everything sought to break them. Dark and bewitching, this was the perfect follow up to Nick and Ava’s passionate beginning, and will have Mafia and Dark Romance fans sold.
Thank you to the author for the advanced copy of this book! 5⭐️
I like the story as a whole. It is unique and original which is refreshing. But as far as it being mafia not so much. Nick is literally the biggest weenie don I have ever read. He doesn’t have that air about him that you expect to have from a mafia don that sets the correct mood. Ava’s character is great, I really liked her. Even in the “romance” parts we didn’t get much action.
I’m not a DNF type of person, so I finished the book bored. I’m an “X”rated type of reader reading a “G”rating book with this one. I also don’t give just one star because I think that’s just rude. This is my opinion, I’m not ruining the rating on my opinion.
I received this book from Hidden Gems for my honest opinion.
Nick and Ava were happy until police officer Billings came into their lives asking them to work with him involving a human trafficking ring. Barely escaping from the hands of Barella, Ava and Ellie are finally safe. Ava is slowly spiralling downward from the trauma experience of being kidnapped by Barella. Barella is playing a cat and mouse game with Nick and Ava throwing obstacles in their path that's putting their children in danger and causing a tension in their marriage. Thank you Hidden Gems and the author for a digital copy. Read and reviewed voluntarily and the opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I feel so proud of the fact that I have read this author while she was growing as a writer, have read her books on wattpad and fell in love with her mafia world. I love the way Nicole Knight writes her characters, she has got and eye for some amazing characters and the Men written by her OH MY LORD they will instantly sweep you off of your feet and will raise the bars for your guy way way too high. I do not consider this series to be the author's best work but this book was definitely a very beautiful conclusion to this wonderful series. And ya if you love reading mafia romance or have a paricular weakness for mafia lords then this author should be in your top ten auto-by authors list for sure, mark my words she will not disappoint.
Lily WIlliams really has a strong character, part of which I think was already ingrained in her personality, but part of it comes from witnessing the murder. Although she’s been running, I found it interesting when she headed back to her where her past lay. Unfortunately, the past didn’t want to stay buried and she had a whole heap of trouble find her. The suspense in this plot was fantastic and Lily’s character was really well written out. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. This one left me begging for more

Victims of Circumstance is a great romantic suspense story. The characters are well developed, strong, and intelligent. The storyline is well written and engaging, with murder in the past, mystery, danger, drama, intrigue, and romance. This is the first book I have read by this author and I am looking forward to reading more of her work.

Book two of Ava and Nick five years later. They get embroiled in a dangerous trafficking case. The love is still there stronger than ever. Their three children growing and thriving. BUT, danger lurks around every corner for the whole family after Nick's attempt to eliminate the threat. A MUST READ!!!
