Seeing with the Heart is a Kindred Tales Novel set in the Brides of the Kindred universe
A warrior with a tragic past who has scars on both his face…and his heart. A beautiful woman, blind from the age of sixteen. When they meet, the attraction is sizzling but when Molly regains her sight, will Braxx turn away from her? Or can she convince him she isn't looking with her eyes…but Seeing with her Heart?
Braxx is a Beast Kindred with a painful past. A traumatic crash stole his brother and his bride from him and left half of his face horribly scarred. Desperate to avoid the pitying and disgusted looks he gets whenever he goes out, he takes a job as a scout, travelling across the universe to find new trade partners and power sources for the Kindred. He thinks he'll never love again until he comes back to Earth and meets Molly.
Dr. Molly Reynaud has a doctorate in Cultural Anthropology. She's also completely blind and has been since a car accident stole both her parents and her sight at the age of sixteen. Chosen to do a field study on the elusive Tal'ossi people from Tal'os Trenta, she doesn’t expect to have feelings for the Kindred warrior who is supposed to guard her there. But she can't seem to help the instant connection she feels to Braxx and she knows he feels the same for her.
But he's scarred on the inside too and he tells himself such a perfect female isn't for him.
Then the unthinkable happens--Molly is kidnapped by the Deep Dwellers of Tal'ossi and taken down to the subterranean depths as a bride for their leader. Braxx must go after her and suddenly the idea of claiming turns from a wish to a necessity.
Can Braxx overcome his tragic past and save the woman he loves? And can Molly convince him they belong together? Both of them will have to practice Seeing with the Heart or they will be parted forever…
Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.
Main characters: Braxx & Dr. Molly Reynaud Type of Kindred bonding: Beast Kindred
The latest novels in the series are inspired by readers’ suggestions. So in the previous novel “Bonding with Beast”, the heroine was a single mother with a kid with special abilities. In this novel “Seeing with the Heart” the female lead is blind woman and I am sure that we all can understand that the title of the book contains spoilers and maybe an advice.
In order to spice up things in the story, the Kindred warrior has ugly scars that distort his left side of his face. Braxx is really attracted to Molly and he is even glad that she cannot see his scars. His ex-girlfriend (his almost bonding mate actually) has left him because she could not stand the fact that he became ugly after a horrible accident his brother and him had. Little does he know that Molly does not care about his scars and that she really likes him as a person.
Molly is blind since she was 16 and she had a horrible accident in which her parents also died. She managed to cope with the loss of her sight and her family and now she is a strong independent woman who managed to get a PhD and now for her research, she likes to explore other civilizations of the universe and learn their customs.
Thus, Molly with Braxx as her advisor and companion ends up in primitive planet Tal’os Trenta where she may even get her eyesight again, but she also may lose her independence.
A very heartwarming story, but I would like a slightly different ending.
I liked it, even if I felt the romance itself was a bit uneven. With, Molly, a blind heroine and Braxx, a scarred hero, I really think her character arc is stronger than this. He’s nice enough, but he doesn’t stand out from the sea of broody, damaged heroes I’ve read. Molly, on the other hand, is a good, empathetic heroine who I connected with. The way they separated and the pretty mild reunion could have been stronger. The trials on the other planet felt a bit weird and cringey, but overall I did like these two together even if there's nothing surprising or new in this tale. It’s part of the Kindred universe but it’s not necessary to read the earlier books to enjoy this one. Basically, if you’ve read Ms. Anderson before or have a soft spot for alien sci-fi romances, you may enjoy this.
Evangeline Anderson - Seeing with the Heart : A Kindred Tales Novel: (Alien Warrior BBW Science Fiction Blind Heroine Romance)
The Kindred Tales Novels are shorter books that exist in the Kindred world. As with all the wonderful Kindred books there are hot alpha warriors, excitement, danger, adventure, suspense, hot sex and a challenging road to climb for that rewarding HEA. The overall plot summary is in the author's blurb and is a great representation of the story. This particular book deals with a woman (professor of anthropology studying different cultures) who lost her eyesight as well as her parents in a car accident when she was 16.
Molly has learned to adjust to her blindness and has organized her world quite efficiently. Resigned that romance is not in the cards for "the blind girl" Molly concentrates on her studies. She's excited about the Kindreds giving her the chance to study a new culture on a distant planet.
Braxton is a Beast Kindred , it is nice to see another one of his kind as we haven't seen Beast Kindred since the first book. Braxx was also involved in a horrific accident which has left him scarred both on the inside and out. Half his gorgeous face has been distorted and scarred. Worse the guilt he carries with him keeps him isolated from many.
There is an instant electricity between them when they touch. Molly can't seem to stop wanting to touch him. Braxx is not only drawn to her but is also relieved she can't see his physical scars.
Braxx accompanies Molly on her expedition not only to assist but also protect. Although they acknowledge to each other their feelings for each other, there are misunderstandings (cultural differences can be tricky) . In addition, Braxx's struggles keep him sabotaging the relationship, he can't get off the merry go round of "Im not good enough for her ."
Besides the awesome sci-fi sexy romantic adventure there is a lot of messages and lessons within the story. Love, acceptance, what is true beauty and how to heal from the inside out. I also had to applause Braxx's shock that earth girls with "disabilities" were not allowed to sign up for the Kindred lottery. Another amazing Kindred storyline with new planets and worlds to explore, awesome new characters . Besides a great story there are also some important messages and lessons about love and acceptance.
God, it must be so hard to be blind, especially if you were born with sight. Molly is a really strong (and selfless) heroine. I can understand her pain and how she tried to kill herself after being newly blinded and both her parents dying in a crash. Living in a world where you can't see just seems so scary because it's so hard to know what's around you.
Both the heroine and hero were a little broken. She's blind, and half his face is scarred from a terrible accident that also scarred him on the inside. Both have resigned themselves to the fact that no one wants them and they're probably better alone.
Molly is a Cultural Anthropologist. She goes on a special mission with just Braxx, the Kindred hero, to Tal'os Trenta, an alien planet far, far away. I thought it was funny how the aliens there called her "Molly of the Stars". She's an alien to them; it's all perspective.
I almost cried at one point, which would have been bad because I was in public. I knew it was coming, but it still frustrated me when
Also, I would have liked a few more scenes of them together to develop the romance a little more, before they realized they were in love with each other...
Okay, I need Shad's book... (Kat's son--I didn't get how she had 3 kids, because I thought the Twin Kindred could only give birth to twins, so how is Shad without a twin?) I do still wonder what Kat and Sophie and the other women do on the Mothership all day...besides Olivia, who's a nurse, they don't really have jobs besides raising their kids, advising the new heroines lol. That reminds me of how in reviews for the Black Dagger Brotherhood, people (myself included) were wondering what the wives do all day in the house.
I'm surprised to find I preferred the first 2 books in the Kindred Tales series. The novella format was such a tasty little bite. This full version felt like it got caught up on details that would have been resolved easily and quickly in the first 2 books.
Steam: 3.99/5 - Felt a little more flowery at times than I thought I was used to. Still super descriptive, less frequent though.
Plot: 3.75/5 - It was complex and entertaining. Again, I felt like it dragged a bit.
Audiobook: 3.75/5 - It's been the same woman narrating all 3 of these books and I'm just now picking up on things that annoy me. Honestly, she's doing a great job. I think I felt 5/5 about her before. She had very heavy Amy Adams in Enchanted vibes, in this one anyway. I was there for the fun and acting but I started to get frustrated with the camp of it here and there.
I love that Molly is blind of sight, but can truly see. Braxx needs a strong, understanding woman such as Molly to overcome the pain and lingering damage from his own loss. Molly and Braxx sacrifice so much for each other and when they come together their HEA is as epic as it should be. I can’t wait to see what is next in store for the Kindred.
I always enjoy Evangeline Anderson’s books. She very creative and consistently manages to come up with something new in her stories. Plus she does some great world building. SEEING WITH THE HEART was no different. I mean, the way that the aliens great each other in this novel is downright lyrical 😉 And while the idea of subterranean societies isn’t new Anderson put a unique spin on it.
Braxx and Molly were pretty good together. I have some mixed feelings about Braxx though. While he’s extremely brave he’s also damaged. And I’m not talking about his face. The emotional damage wrought by his facial scares was rather bad. I didn’t like his refusal to believe that Molly didn’t care about what he looked like.
Sadly, there was some predictability to the plot. Happily, it didn’t prevent me from being entertained by this Erotic Sci-Fi Romance.
Mackenzie Cartwright gave a wonderful performance. She’s easy on the ears. I appreciate the effort she puts into differentiating the characters in the book. Plus she’s got a nice steady rhythm to her words.
I know this book is old and I have actually read it before. I will forever and always love the kindred books. I love Evangeline Anderson and all of her stories! I just got a little pet peeve that I’d like to address. This isn’t about venting because I truly hope that Miss Anderson takes my suggestions to heart and incorporates them on some level.
She tends to use the lack of communication trope quite frequently. It’s grating on my nerves especially in this particular book. (Spoilers ahead) the main female character is looking to study a recently discovered group of people from a planet across the galaxy. Long story short one of the natives is obsessed with her scent And therefore wants to claim her. This is the way of their people. He has the right to claim her unless she has a father who can disavow the claim, or if she has a mate. She herself apparently has no right to turn down said claim. Not at any point did it occur to anybody to attempt to explain that while they respect and appreciate their customs, she is from a different planet and cannot abide by those particular customs because they go against her own customs and beliefs. I get that these books are fantasy and they’re supposed to stretch the bounds of reality and the norm. But this particular part frustrated me to no end. It was all about going along with what they said. It was never about even giving it one good attempt to explain that as a citizen of a different world it is her right not to follow through and Marry a complete stranger for the rest of her life and never leave their planet simply because that is what their customs are. And it’s also silly for this group of people knowing that this female is here for a temporary time only to study their way of life, to expect her to throw everything away to follow through with their way of life even though it is not her own way of life. I just… even a little attempt at explaining to these people that they should not force their customs and beliefs on an off worlder would have made me feel SO much better and not have me at the optometrist because I rolled my eyes way too much.
Comments (showing 1-1 of 1) post a comment » dateDown arrow newest » message 1: by Shirley - rated it 5 stars 26 minutes ago Shirley Vaillancourt I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I Very much enjoyed this book. I often wonder where Evangeline comes up with these ideas. She had to have studied how to think as a blind person. From the blurb, we know that Molly is a blind Anthropologist preparing for a mission to study the Tal'ossi. A race unknown to the earth and the Kindred. Her assistant cannot go with Molly at the last minute, so Braxx, a Beast Kindred who discovered This race goes with her to be her "eyes". We find that each has deep emotional pain. She has dealt with hers, but Braxx has buried his deep, and the story develops from there. They also have an instant attraction to each other. When they get to the planet things start to heat up. I don&[author: Evangeline Anderson. I do not want to tell you what happens because I learned the secrets of this book a step at a time, and I don't want to dilute the intensity for the reader. I can say if you have read any other of the Kindred books, you will not be disappointed. Don't pass up the opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture as told by Ms.Anderson. If I could have given this 10 stars, it still would not be enough to express how deeply I felt the tone of this book. A disability does not define a person, nor does it diminish that person. Being mobility impaired myself, though not in the same way as Molly, I appreciated that the Author delved into the steps that one has to go to in order to live as normal a life as possible. The emotional baggage Braxx carries is enormous, and he will need to come to terms with it. Evangeline has stated that she sometimes gets ideas from her readers. I love that. I wish that she could find a Kindred for a woman with limited mobility. In closing, let me say that the only problem I found was that it ended too soon.
I got an ARC through Booksprout and this is my honest and voluntary review. Commander Braxx carries a heavy burden of guilt over his perceived responsibility for the death of his brother Yarex and because of this guilt he believed he earned the consequences of being alone for the remainder of the days the Goddess would grant him. His guilt was so all consuming that he believed he deserved to be alone and the terrible scars on his face just cemented those feelings. Even his self-centered fiance Delanna had abandoned him when she saw the terrible scars. All this began to change when Commander Sylvan gave him the job of taking Dr. Molly Reynaud to the far flung planet of Tal'os Trenta. Molly was a cultural anthropologist being sent to Tal'os by the Kindred to study this little known civilization to find out if establishing trade with them would help the Kindred fight The Hive. Unlike Braxx Molly has accepted her limitations and gotten on with her life since losing her sight due to a car accident when she was 16; an accident that took both her parents and left her totally blind; that was twenty years ago. When these two first meet both (to themselves) catch a whiff of the other's scent; a sure sign of a possible joining. Braxx is such a stubborn man. To himself he thought "You're becoming besotted with this Earth female and you know she isn't for you". Braxx doesn't give Molly any credit at all. She is so well adjusted to her blindness that she was one of the "happiest, most positive people Braxx had ever met. Her lightheartedness drew his darkness to her like a moth to a flame. Ms. Anderson has done such a wonderful job describing Molly's blindness and how she meets the challenges of living without sight. Their eventual trek to and from Tal'os is full of adventure, challenges, and a somewhat meeting of minds, and miscommunication. With the help of the women of the Mothership the barriers Braxx as built in his mind are torn asunder. The book's title is very appropo. Each was able to fill the emptiness in each of their own hearts.
These are all easy reads and I am really happy that Evangeline Anderson chose to continue the series. I also like that she puts in a wide array of different types of characters that are in the minority of being written about. Molly was fantastic! I loved her positive personality in the face of so much she had to overcome.
What an amazing story. This is probably one that I find a little more dear to my heart. This was about two souls that were trying to find their way. Molly was one that had excepted who she was but I have to say I feel like she felt love was not for her. For who wanted a blind person, well at least in my eyes that is what Molly thought. Braxx well he was damaged in more ways then one and the pain he carried will just break you heart.
I just loved Molly. She was this sexy curvy woman. She had so many challenges in life. She was blind. I loved that we got to see some of the struggles that blind people goes through. I personally know due to having a blind friend and find myself asking her questions all the time. So many times we take things for granted and I think this book shows the little thing in life that can be a struggle for some and be taken for great by others.
Braxx is a beast Kindred. Hello, how sexy is that. Braxx was so perfect for her. Braxx knew what it was like to fell unworthy of love. Braxx also knew what it was like to have felt loss. Molly had lost her parents and her sight at the same time. Braxx had lost his brother and gained physical and emotional scares.
The goddess has plans for these two and at times you might be worried if things will work out. I love that these two are automatically attracted to each other. Braxx will do what every he needs to do to protect her. That is one thing I love about the Kindred is that they are protect of their females even before they realize that female belongs to them.
This was a great story and glad I got a chance to read the book.
I love Molly and Braxx!!! Molly is a blind anthropologist and she has the opportunity to go study a society of people that Braxx discovered. However, before she leaves her assistant gets some bad news and can't go on the trip. Molly can't go without her because she acts as her "eyes." Braxx is already taken with Molly so he offers to escort her and stay with her during her 3 month study. During this time, Molly and Braxx have to follow the people's expected customs and in doing so they become very close. Also, there is another male that wants to claim Molly for her own. In addition to that drama, Braxx is trying to make sure Molly doesn't find out about the horrible scars that cover one half of his face. He thinks that since she is blind she won't be able to see the scars and judge him based on that. He has a difficult past that he can't get over. He needs Molly to help him overcome his fears and his past.
Molly is used to traveling to other places and learning about other cultures so she takes everything in stride and tries her hardest not to offend anyone by not following customs. I loved the chemistry between her and Braxx and I loved her no nonsense, straight to the point attitude. Molly is the most generous and loving person and she proves that many times. I cried at one point toward the end, but it was a happy cry. This is just such a great book. Plus, we get to see some of our favorite characters from previous books in a brief cameo appearance.
Okay, there are a couple things that Evangeline Anderson likes to use to their COMPLETE exhaustion, and I’m so over them by now:
* She uses the word “uh” WAY too much and it is now making the characters sound stupid.
* She oftentimes uses a lack of communication between the main couple to a stupid EXTREME point in hopes of raising tension. (At this point it is waaaay too predictable and unnecessary/unreasonable and it doesn’t improve my opinion of the characters).
* The author also like to throw in random situations that try to make the relationship feel “forbidden” between the couple in the weirdest and most ridiculous circumstances that seem SO unnecessary. In this one, the heroine decided that even though she and the hero liked each other they should not start anything while she was on another planet to learn about another culture. The hero agreed as if that was somehow perfectly reasonable! It totally was uncalled for in this situation and did absolutely no good (and the heroine never explained her reasoning).
All those growing pet peeves of mine being said, I will still continue with her world of the Kindred as there are some other aspects that I personally really enjoyed. I will just take more time between reading books of hers. Also, these little predictable ticks of hers could just be a personal dislike at this point and I can understand and believe why other people still might really love her series, so you should definitely try her books for yourself 😊.
The more Kindred Novellas I read, the better they get. I also love that they don't tie into the main Kindred books too closely.
This novella is centered around a Blind Human Molly, and a scarred Kindred named Braxx. Both have had tragic things happen to them in the past. Molly lost both her parents, and her sight at the age of 16. Since then she has had to navigate reality by being blind, and face the stereotypical society who think she cannot do anything by herself. Braxx was scarred while trying to rescue his brothernfrom their space shuttle after it crashed. For years he has carried the burden of his brothers death and the whispers behind his back. Braxx is used to people looking away when they see his scarred and ruined face.
This Novella hit an emotional nerve with me. I loved both characters, and how they perfectly fitted together. It is refreshing to see such humans and kindred who may not be deemed perfect or appealing by their own kind. I find people who have experienced such tragedies value the simple things in life more. They understand what it's like to be "different" but still power on.
I however did not like the tasks Braxx had to endure. They seemed forced and did not quite fit within the main story. Apart from these tasks, this novella has been very enjoyable.
This might be one of my favorites of the series. Molly is a blind anthropologist, looking forward to studying the people of Tal'os Trenta. When her assistant, who happens to be her "eyes" for the study, ends up at the hospital with her fiance who was in a car accident, Molly has to go to the planet accompanied by a Beast Kindred, Braxx, who not only has scars on the outside but deeper scars on the inside too. They find an instant attraction to each other that each of them works to fight, but once they hit the planet surface, everything changes. And Seeing with the Heart takes on a whole new meaning.
I love the author's take on the anthropologist's disability. The female protagonist is strong and determined. She doesn't allow others to run over her, and she's outspoken. It is a respectful perspective while staying true to what the attraction of meeting the Kindred's one true mate involves. Braxx is also wounded in a way that not only makes him feel the effects of the accident he was in on a daily basis, but he has a sense of overwhelming guilt over it. This is a steamy, sometimes heartbreaking story that brings all of the feels. It was exactly what I expected and then some. I'm looking forward to what the author comes up with next.
How many authors can say they have successfully written and published over 20 books, let alone 20 in one season? The amazing Evangeline Anderson can, and not for one book has the enthusiasm in the story dulled or became less than it should be. Seeing with the heart is a Kindred Tales novel, or for the 20th book in the Brides of the Kindred series. We have two amazing main characters in this instalment with updates from the amazing couples and their children on board of the mothership. Our story starts with beautiful doctor Molly Reynaud who studies Cultural Anthropology. She has been blind since a crash took her sight at age 16, but she has never let that get in her way for what she wanted to do with life. Braxx is a Beast Kindred who has painful memories that he endures every day of his life. When Molly is to be guided by Braxx to Tal’os Trenta the story heats up. Initially, Molly was supposed to spend 3 months on this planet with her best friend, but an accident means that she can no longer go and Braxx steps in. I loved the action, real emotions and life like scenarios that happen in this story. It was also a very cute story with no major “bad guys” playing main roles. If you haven’t read this book yet, I suggest you grab it today as you will not be disappointed.
I'll admit I was skeptical before starting this book, since for me Novellas tend to feel too short to really get much content, at least in my experience. So glad I was proven wrong.
Kindred novels are fairly long (which is awesome) and as a result the novellas, even being only half the length, are still quite enjoyable and filled with good content. Kindred Tales Novellas are brilliant for a read for any Kindred fan, giving something short to tide us over till the next novel comes out.
Back to the book at hand.
The story focuses on facially disfigured beast kindred Braxx being paired up with the Blind human Molly. To cut the story short, they meet when he picks her up to escort her to another planet where she's conducting an anthropological study of the local culture, get to know each other along the way, and quickly getting together in the end due to adversarial circumstances. Essentially the book summary explains everything plot wise, and there's no real surprise in anything that happens.
Worth a read for any kindred fan. Reading order wise, you could start this whenever you like as it doesn't really impact the overall plot, just mentions some extra security precautions being taken whilst travelling due to the Hive (the enemies introduced in book 19).
This is a story about Braxx the Beast Kindred and Molly, a Cultural Anthropologist. Molly is scheduled to study people on Tal'osi Trenta and when her assistant cannot accompany her, Braxx steps in and offers his services instead.
Braxx and Molly quickly take to each other and as things heat up on Tal'osi Trenta, so do their feelings for each other.
This book was a little more full-flavored than some of other books I've read. What I mean by full-flavored is that the drama is stretched out, the tension rides the main characters longer and there seems to be more interaction, probably due to the fact that Molly is blind.
Being a Beast Kindred, I always expect more possessiveness and jealousy from them, moreso than any of the other type of Kindred I've encountered in the books yet. Something near the level of Drugair's drake but a bit more impulsive and closer to the surface, especially when in the presence of a potential mate who returns their affections. That was probably the biggest issue I had with Braxx and other Beast Kindred.
Other than that, the slight possessiveness in this book was good. I could use a little more forward seduction from the males though but the series is complete already lol. Thanks for another fun adventure!
Another great addition to the Kindred Brides series. Evangeline has a way of catching your attention and keeping you enthralled with the story. Each book in the series is different and this is no different. With each of these characters having their own physical issues, they're more realistic in some ways. This is definitely another that I'll be recommending to my friends and family. I'm voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Braxx having the scars on his face, and his heart, makes him someone you want to wrap up in your arms and hold him, but he's definitely made just for Molly. Although she's blind, she's so in tune with everything and having lost her sight in her teen years, she's able to visualize what's being described to her better than someone who's never seen colors, shapes, or sizes. Molly has fallen for Braxx, but when things get to close for Him, he runs without any type of explanation. Where usually I'd want to smack him up side the head, this time I can kind of understand his reasoning. Molly is a determined soul though and they finally get their HEA.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I am usually a big fan of Evangeline Anderson's books however, this one fell short for me. I loved the concept of looking at things differently. A blind protagonist and a scarred Kindred. There's a whole lot that could have been done with this. The problem I had with this book was that it was too fast paced. Sure I like easy reads just like the next person but the timeline usually flows better. Even though in the story toward the end it gives a timeframe of how long it took all the events to unfold, reading it i could not tell. It still felt like the same day. I wanted more interaction with how the characters opinions of each other developed. Saying things like how quickly you were attracted and then you're in love annoys me. I believe in love at first sight; I just don't believe in people recognizing it right away at least in stories. It takes away from the romance at all and their character growth stays stagnant. If you like the kindred series, I suggest reading this book as a light erotic novel.
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is a Kindred tale and ends in an HEA. Molly is a blind scientist chosen to go to a distant planet to study its cultures and people. Braxx is a disfigured Kindred warrior. He was injured in a crash that took his brother’s life. Ever since the crash, Braxx chooses jobs that are solitary, not wanting to see the pity on anyone’s face sue to his scars. Braxx accepts the job to accompany Molly to the planet because she is blind and accepts him without seeing his outer shell.
>The descriptions of these different planets and aliens are what really makes the Kindred books stand out. The people Molly is going to study are unique and very sexual, as is also a mainstay of any Kindred story. Braxx has opposing feelings when Molly is gifted with sight for a while. The descriptions of how Molly deals with everyday life lightless seems very realistic.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this story 5 stars. The romance overcomes obstacles both on the planet and inside Braxx. Molly’s love for others and Braxx really shines through.
I was really looking forward to reading a story that had a heroine with a disability. I was looking forward to seeing how she navigated this amazing world that the author had created. Unfortunately we got a little of that then the
Even before we got to the point, there was so much going on that just seemed unbelievable, and it didn't get any better. Not to mention the author was somewhat repitive which I found annoying, I would have expected the editor to catch that kind of thing.
Another thing that bugged me was the fact the heroine was blind and the hero was scarred, and had major issues about it, so was happy the heroine couldn't see him.
Ultimately I was bored, not interested in the characters and not able to escape into the story. I'm clearly not the target market for this book.
All of Evangeline Anderson's Kindred stories are on my must read list. We finally get another Beast Kindred in this tale.
The absolute best part of this story is Braxx's shock at Molly's exemption for the draft - it shows just how perfect the Kindred are when it comes to their brides. With so many Kindred hoping to call a Bride, the fact that the Earth has not allowed females with a handicap to register is a fascinating thread that I hope the author will follow up on.
This is a Beauty and the Beast story and both Braxx and Molly are great. Braxx is so damaged both inside and out, that he has isolated himself from everyone and believes that no one can look past his physical scars. Molly does not let her disability hinder her in any way. The typical misunderstanding arise when Molly gets her site back but she is a fighter. With the help of some new friends (here is where I thank the author for the update on Shad - the son of my favorites), Molly has the courage to stand up the Braxx and let him know how she feels.
I cannot wait to see where the author takes this series next.
Great premise. Scarred hero and blind heroine. He's big and brave, she's curvey and a super smart Anthropologist. However... I forgot this isn't simply sci fi romance. It is erotica. There is a big difference. It's not that I am a prude, but the situations created to accommodate sex scenes are sometimes a bit silly. All the talk about there being only one way to scent her, I.e, he has to put his lips and face all over and inside her genitals to cover her scent with his, and all the porn type talk that has to go into describing it - it honestly had me laughing out loud. I mean, there is another option. Give her some saliva. Oh yeah, he has scent glands around his mouth. Okay, so rub your mouth on her hand and she can take it from there. Okay, you want to talk about the oral sex in the most graphic detail. Do it. But don't say it's because there is no other possibility when it doesn't take a genius to figure out a dozen options. Too funny and too cringey. Anyway, lots of people enjoy these books, and that's cool but they are just not for me.
I've been reading the billions of Kindred books and enjoy most of them. In this book, Molly, a blind anthropologist, is planning to learn more about the culture on another planet. She was going to go with her assistant, but in the last minute ends up going with Brax, a Beast Kindred who was injured in a flight with his brother where his brother died and he got ugly wounds on half of his face.
On the other planet Molly is scented by a man who decides she is his. I was frustrated when Molly was "required" to be given to one of the aliens on the planet she was visiting and everyone acted like a visitor had no rights and was just going to be essentially kidnapped and r@ped. I also wasn't a fan of Molly's finally getting back to health and then giving her miracle to her friend's fiancé. I feel like there are no guarantees their relationship will last but Molly gives up her sight to bring this guy back to life?
So while I am planning on continuing to read the Kindred books, I was bothered by a number of plot points in this particular episode.
