3.5 stars. Rick Wood took a unique route with this story. The premise is fairly typical and simplistic, but instead of having it all play out in a linear fashion, he deviates into each of the five characters individual stories. It was very interesting to experience the book like this and I didn’t dislike it. However, I felt that the author lost focus of our heroine, Lisa, amongst all of the brutality and point of view shifts. She goes from passive and avoidant to a victim of a horrible series of sexual assaults to a revenge seeking, John Wick-esque killer to a crusader for women’s justice. And this all happens between the broken up portions of the book, not having any real proper transition time or explanations dedicated to her evolution. It all just happens and is left at that. And I am a huge fan of gore and violence, but I also felt that there was a bit too much of it here, too, most specifically when Lisa and Michael are under seige by our unsavory antagonists. Watching your husband be beaten, raped, and murdered on your honeymoon is traumatizing enough to warrant someone to want to hurt those who committed the acts. Everything beyond that just felt like overkill. But Rick Wood takes things to the extreme, so I understand the creative decisions made here. My takeaway here is that this was far from being my favorite Rick Wood entry, and it has a lot that could be improved on, but is overall still a decent read.
You'll find it quite familiar to the movie "I Spit on Your Grave" because of the revenge theme. The tortures are as bloody and savage. You'll also hate the main villains and won't want anything but to make them pay.
It's another reminder not to spend your honeymoon in a place with no neighbors for miles and miles. I mean, I'd love a picturesque view of the countryside, but I've promised to avoid isolated getaways like this. Nope.
I liked this book. I'll just forget about the animal torture part because that enraged me through the roof. Every scum in this story deserved what they got.
4.5 stars. Loved the writing, Rick Wood is such a good author, but nothing is reinvented with this book. If you want "I Spit On Your Grave" or "The Last House On The Left" it's exactly what you're going to get.
I enjoyed this read and can imagine all people that have succumbed to a horror such as this feeling and wanting to do the exact same things. It made it more realistic and believable, I think. A tale that anyone could be a victim of and want that brutal revenge. A gory violent hateful crime, followed by a powerful bloody vicious revenge. Not for the easily offended or squeamish. But a great little read that keeps you enthralled from beginning to end. Definitely recommend.
Newlyweds Michael and Lisa are on their honeymoon, driving to a countryside cottage when they decide to stop for an oil change. After an uncomfortable encounter with a friend of the mechanics, the couple are back on the road again. The next morning, however, on the way home from a run, the pair sees Jonno again, the lecherous pervert from the garage. Nonconfrontational Michael is shaking in terror on the inside, while confident Lisa strides right towards him, as they have to pass by him to get home. After more taunting, leering, and this time, a black eye for Michael, they make it back to the cottage. Michael worries about their safety and secretly wishes to go home, but doesn't want to ruin their honeymoon and keeps his fears to himself. Meanwhile, Jonno is telling his mechanic friends, married couple, "Pitbull" and Kacey, that he ran into the couple and now knows where they're staying. Jonno is obsessed with Lisa and can't stop imagining the fun he could have with her, planting the seed in his friends minds as well. After yet another run in with Michael at a restaurant, the three friends decide they should follow him home and have some fun with the couple. Shortly after, the trio break into the cottage, thus beginning the worst night of the couple's lives, filled with senseless violence, utter depravity and ultimately culminating in Michael's murder. Defying all odds, Lisa endures the abuse and escapes with her life - her tormentors, of course, not realizing they just created a monster - a woman hellbent on vengeance. The friends anxiously await a knock on the door from police, but as weeks, then months pass, and nothing happens, eventually they begin to let their guard down. Little do they know, Lisa never went to the police, for she has her own personal brand of justice to deal out... --------------------------- I liked this book, I thought it was fun, fast paced and kept your attention. The only complaint I had was that I was pictured more... Creative? Depraved? And longer lasting revenge. I really wanted the trio to *suffer* and while they did, I felt Lisa was way too merciful by killing them so quickly. Or maybe I'm just sick. Who knows.

I was expecting this to be some cheap fun trash, but I was actually really impressed. It's imaginative, horrific as expected, but most of all it makes the story much mor interesting by cycling through the various characters' POVs. I especially enjoyed when we got to see the story through the eyes of the bad guys, giving them an extra dimension.
Actually the bit I really didn't like was the first few chapters, through Martin's POV. The guy is a totally loser wet blanket and everything is just so extreme and cookie cutter.
But from the part of switching to the woman's POV onwards, it's really decently written and engaging.
My first five star read of November, and I'm having a hard time getting this one out of my head. If you loved the movie "I Spit on Your Grave" then this is the book for you.
Michael and Lisa are newly married and are set to enjoy their honeymoon in an isolated countryside cottage. But Lisa has caught the attention of some unsavory characters who are determined to have her at any cost.
I was surprised at the depth of the character development for each and every fictional person I encountered in this book. It is so easy for characters in books such as this to become one-dimensional caricatures, especially the 'villains', so I really appreciated the back story given to each. And instead of telling the story from the regular multiple points of view that appear interspersed within the book, this author does it differently, which I loved.
Make no mistake, this book is BRUTAL. But if you like extreme storytelling along with the satisfaction of an excellent revenge story, this is your book right here. My second read by this author, and I'm planning to stalk his backlist after reading this one.
This book as it says in the title of the book is about a woman intent on seeking revenge in the most horrific way imagined believe me you need to read this book to believe it totally shocking.
Michael and Lisa are on there honeymoon and unbeknownst to them it will have devastating consequences for all around. Lisa is married to a sensitive man who wouldn't pick any trouble with anyone, but there is a gang that are out and looking for trouble in many horrific ways.
There 1st night leads to murder, torture, humiliation in such a demeaning way it was absolutely shocking, violent, gory and damn right bloody terrible.
The book is an additive read, but be warned you really need the stomach for this extreme horror book, it's not for a sensitive reader ... be warned. It even shocked me but the author delivers an additive read which I couldn't turn the pages quick enough.
Looking forward to what this author has to offer in his extreme Blood Splatter books the next book can't come soon enough.
Woman Scorned by Rick Wood Man oh man, I really enjoyed this book! Think: I Spit On Your Grave or Eden Lake, this book is like that! Yes, it’s been done many times and I know it’s nothing original but I throughly enjoyed this. It’s your typical story of female vengeance and I loved every second of it! This was truly an unputdownable, straight to the point, gripping tale.
This book is VULGAR, not as vulgar as Jon Athan Matt Shaw or Sam West though, (which I appreciated because they tend to go on and on with the suffering & torment that it takes up more of the book than the actual story itself!) Let’s just say it’s the right amount of torture that you can read through without making you ill!
Just a quick synopsis from me - newly married couple drive out to a far away cottage to celebrate their honeymoon, they come across 3 really messed up people at a mechanic shop and from there on you can probably figure out where this goes.
Michael and Lisa head off to the countryside for their honeymoon, unfortunately getting on the wrong side of the locals immediately. Things take a sinister turn and make it a trip that Lisa will never forget…
❤️ ‘I Spit on Your Grave’ meets ‘Eden Lake’ ❤️ Perfect revenge story ❤️ There were so many references to misogyny which really made my blood boil but that just shows how well written the story was ❤️ Real life issues were raised regarding objectifying women which I really appreciated ❤️ The gore was perfectly balanced with a well rounded story
😩 My only criticism is the few continuity errors that I picked up on but I think that’s me being pedantic 🤣
This was my first by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it - churning through it on 24 hours! 😍
At first I was a little disappointed into the read because it was very played out just like “I spit on your grave” & (last house on the left) and was a little bummed out but overall it was a good read and left me wanting to continue reading. I think it could have maybe switched it up a bit but like I said still a good read and I would recommend it.
Not a bad book but not great. first part was good but revenge part was meh bit flat. I like the different perspectives of the characters in the book but Enjoyed “home invasion” by the same author more.
If you love revenge horror , and movies like i spit on ur grave and other revenge movies then this book is perfect for you , easy to read , very graphic , but loved reading it. Was a really good book , sad to have finish it so quick
This book is well named as a woman seeks revenge for these men who tried to rape and kill her who had also killed her husband and she certainly got her revenge in the most horrific way !!
Very brutal and scary! I’ve been shaking the whole time I’ve been reading, knowing that this kind of random evil exists everywhere! I just hope I never encounter it
Michael and Lisa just recently got married and are anxiously awaiting spring break vacation to take their honeymoon. They can't wait to get away from the world and their jobs and enjoy the company of one another. But things take a dark turn when the couple packs up and sets off for their vacation. This perfect couple is about to experience anything but a perfect getaway.
I was given this copy in exchange for an honest review and thoroughly enjoyed everything about this novel. It's the perfect length, there's just the right amount of torture, and Lisa is one hell of a character! If you've ever watched the movie franchise "I Spit On Your Grave" and enjoyed them, then this book is for you! Also, fun fact, this book is part of a series that can be read in order or as a stand alone. I highly recommend you check out the other books in this series as well. I give this story a solid 5 🌟 and encourage you to add it to your TBR!
