TRUST is the Thin Line Between SUCCESS and RUINATION
Felix Sharp Jr. believes that he and his research team have made the discovery of the the cure for cancer. With only a couple of months of testing left to go before clinical trials begin, he celebrates with his closest friends and family in private.
But when news of the would-be cure is leaked to the media prematurely, Felix begins to suspect that corporate espionage is afoot. At the top of his list of suspects is LaoCare, a pharmaceutical giant that is developing its own cancer treatment. As inconveniences and problems surrounding the cure pile up, paranoia begins to dominate Felix's everyday life. He worries that LaoCare has bought off one of his close friends or co-workers, and he no longer knows who can be trusted.
Is someone out to get Felix? Or is his mind simply coping with difficult times?
There's nothing quite like writing a story in book form, is there? The freedom, the world building, the in-depth character development, those little details you can't find in other media... writing a book may be the only form of entertainment where there are no limits save your imagination.
Despite working on video games for 10 years, I found myself wanting to explore that limitless potential which is unique to writing novels. From this desire emerged a book: Gold Fever, a Dark Fantasy about the deadly mines of Mt. Couture and the horrors that dwell within.
I am currently working on sequels to Gold Fever. They are part of a planned nine book continuity called the Dark Savior Series. At this time, I'm working on the third book, which you can read more about in my blog.
There are the bones of a 5 star techno-thriller here, but unfortunately it didn’t quite get there for me. The author is familiar enough with the subject to plot a credible story line. There are twists and turns and moments of suspense. The characters have potential to be interesting, but just fail to do so in my reading. They never stand up off the page and become three dimensional. The techno-thriller theme is the backdrop for the real story, which is one of trust and betrayal among close co-workers, virtual family, and romantic partners. I just never feel real emotion from the characters. Their reactions all feel flat. I don’t see anything to make me believe that this is part of a series or that there is a planed sequel. If this is truly the way the book ends, I find it very unsatisfying. I didn’t see anything resolved or any questions answered. It’s a great idea, but the execution just isn’t there in my judgement.
Ruination is a medical thriller written by Jim Clougherty. Felix Sharp Jr. believes that he and his research team have found the cure for cancer. He only celebrates with friends and family in private, but the news is leaked to the media prematurely, so Felix believes that corporate espionage is afoot. The main suspect is LaoCare, a pharmaceutical giant that is developing its own cancer treatment. It is a great book that completely engaged me. All the author's knowledge about science and medicine is clear, and it is demonstrated in the plot of the book. I think this story has an excellent balance between elements that can be real and fiction. I couldn't help but love it! It unites two of my favourite things, the sci-fi and thriller novel and medicine. I really recommend it!
Ruination by author Jim Clougherty is a scientific thriller. Felix, the protagonist of the story comes with a promising cure for cancer. It might prove to be a breakthrough in the world of medical advancement. Just when he's on the brink of disclosing the news, his trust is challenged when the news leaks out prior to the official announcement. What is Felix dealing with is it his own mind that's playing games with him, or is it someone from his team who's trying to wreak havoc? Whatever it is, for the readers it surrounds fun and mystery till the very end. This book is a perfect page-turner and keeps you on your toes, as to what happens next. I would definitely recommend it to everyone, especially to science lovers.
Felix Sharp Jr. seemed to have it all, a respectable job, a loving family and unconditional friends, but everything changes when information about his most recent job seems to leak: a possible cure against cancer. Felix thinks someone betrayed him, and begins to suspect corporate espionage is afoot. Is it possible that someone betrayed him? Or is it all happening in his mind? I think author Jim Clougherty did a great job with this novel. I really liked the plot and the suspense had me on the edge of my chair at times, and that is the main reason I give it 5 stars! I definitely recommend it to all lovers of psychological thrillers.
Ruination has a very entertaining and original plot. A plot that is narrated with detail and mastery of the genre. A man has an idea in mind, a project that will change people's lives for good. Together with his investigation, the team develop a new theory that is still a work in progress. The story becomes a thrilling ride with the mixture of action and drama produced by the coming to light of this unfinished theory. Felix, investigator and main protagonist, suspect of some in his time as the culprit for the leak. This novel makes readers feel the tension and rage of the characters being so well written. It is a very interesting read. I strongly recommend it.
Fiction and science “Ruination” is a book that mixes medicine and fiction. After finding the cure for cancer, Felix Sharp Jr cannot celebrate the historical time because there are many interests that put the discovery in danger. This story is entertaining, perhaps there were many unclear or not well developed events that affect the understanding of the plot and makes the reading a bit difficult. However, I loved the characters and the way they are connected with each other. There are more than three hundred pages in this reader, which makes it perfect for a month’s read. I give it three stars!
Author Jim Clougherty created such a compelling story that was difficult to put down. The plot revolves around the possible discovery of the century which is the cure for cancer and Feliz and his team are responsible for that apparent discovery and tries keeping it as a secret but the news is leaked somehow. The story is attractive and the plot hooked me from the start. Ruination is not a short read because it almost has four hundred pages but I didn’t feel it heavy because it has a good pace and things happen at a good speed. The narrative is very good and this is why I recommend reading it.
A cure for cancer is in development and Felix's team is gearing up to celebrate their success. But soon things start to fall apart and little occurrances keep happening that starts to make Felix suspect corporate espionage amid a flurry of leaks. Is he right? Was he and his team sold out? Or is it all in his head? This is a true mystery with thriller elements and there are plenty of twists in the plot that will keep you guessing. The person I initially thought was behind it all wasnt, so I was surprised by the ending. Good book and a good story.
I was completely caught by this story as soon as I saw its cover. A secret that was leaked changes everything for our main character called Felix Sharp Jr. His life is turned upside down and he doesn’t know who to trust, becoming a bit paranoiac. I liked the story and how it was developed; it has a good pace that makes it unputdownable. Also, the character portrayal was well achieved and Felix’s character was fully developed. I liked that. I was a bit lost at the beginning but soon everything fit into its place. I would recommend reading Ruination by Cloughty.
