Fate is the cruel mistress who crumbled my entire world.

Hidden truths have surfaced, and I'm forced to question some of the people closest to me. Instead of turning into the shadow form of a demon, I'm a wolf shifter with the same dark fur as my enemies.

My fated mate, a sexy silver wolf, should be standing by my side as we face a frightening new enemy, but he was kidnapped along with four other shifters.

Saving them could cost my life, but it’ll bring me closer to finding out who... or rather what I am and why I'm being hunted.

Everything is falling apart, but I'll do anything to protect my mate and my newfound family… because sometimes, the price of love is the inevitable fall.

Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.

My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.

I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.

I'm extremely addicted to caffeine and enjoy drinking coffee and lattes.

Finally finished another book.

And I am on my way to finish the rest of this world and it’s books.

Annie and Cyrus are made for each other and I love how their relationship was portrayed in this book. We really see the chemistry between them and how their romance develops.

Some of this book hit me right in the heart, especially the parts about Cyrus and his childhood being a lie. I am in love with all of these characters and this world, so it’s gonna be a little sad for me to say goodbye, but I still have a few more books before that happens!

Jen got a little crazy with this one. Shattered Curse is the second book in the Shadow City Demon Wolf series and it was crazy af. It's all about the balance between good and evil, sacrifice, secrets, and so much drama.

While Annie still isn't my favorite mfc in the universe I have to say I like her a lot more in this one. She's acclimated to the supernatural world pretty well. She's getting better control of her shifter powers, even in human form, leaning on her mate bond with Cyrus while also helping him overcome his issues. She's worked with children who had a hard life and have all kinds of issues and she's using those skills with the shifters. Annie is becoming a voice in the community, defending, protecting, and standing up for others. She's starting to look like a leader.

Cyrus has a lot of trauma from his past and it's affecting how he sees himself. The man is so hard on himself about his part in what happened to his old pack but Annie is helping him understand his worth. I love the connection between him and Annie even if he does just react to situations at times which annoys me. Cryus is actually a very caring alpha and would be a good leader for the pack, especially with Annie by his side.

A lot happened in this book. There were the demon wolves, it was interesting seeing another supernatural species even though I was not a fan. There is something seriously wrong with those wolves and most definitely gonna be a problem, super shady vibes. A lot of the past was revealed, Annie's origins are just the tip of the iceberg, a lot of other stuff was revealed making connections that I never could have guessed. Of course, Sterlyn and the gang were right in the center of things helping out with tough situations and Sierra cracking the jokes.

Shattered Curse was a fun read. I love where the story is going, everyone coming together, all the pieces coming together in a way that was surprising. As usual, there was a lot of action including a scene at the end that has me asking so many questions that I hope will be answered in the final book in the Demon Wolf series.

Good gosh, Annie and Cyrus can’t catch a break!

I feel so bad for Annie and Cyrus, just when things are slowing down, all hell breaks loose again! Cannot wait for the final book, hoping all the twists get straightened out.

Nonstop Action!

I definitely have several questions about the demon wolves. But dang there was a lot of action in this book. Annie just needs to end Tate and take her place as alpha and change that pack, they’re so primeval and need a swift shove into the 21 century!

I received an ARC for this book. Annie has been through a lot. She is finally learning the truth. Cyrus has finally found someone who loves him and he will protect her at all costs. A lot of truths are uncovered in this book. I'm ready for the conclusion! Dang cliffhanger!

Annie and her mate are traveling a very rough road and it seems it will not get any better. But we shall see what happens in book 3, surely, they will catch a break. The whole gang is in on all the things going on and the same bad guys still exist and they are plotting big time to make trouble. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Great job on the story Jen!

5 Star Story, but Not Perfect

I give this entire world and its stories five stars because it’s a great story, from the first book of the first trilogy all the way up to this book in what I think is the third trilogy. I enjoy the whole plot and the characters.
My only real problem with any of these Shadow City based stories is that the descriptions get a little redundant and a couple of times it seems like things get a little confused as to what has already happened and what hasn’t. Like somebody’s got a jacket held over their shoulder and then puts their hands into their jacket pockets. Simple little tiny things like that.
Honestly, my biggest criticism for these books would be, every single book doesn’t need to be exactly detailed to the T everything we’ve already read in all the previous books. The further I read, the more annoyed I get at reading the same descriptions over and over.
I know that reviewing the information we’ve supposedly gotten from previous books helps people who are reading the books out of order, so in the first book of each trilogy a little review is not so bad, but I think hints of the information instead of the entirety of the descriptions would be better, not only for people who don’t want to read the same thing over and over, but so that people will be enticed to read the previous books first.
All of that said, I’m still giving these books a five star review because I do think the story is really good and it’s worth the redundancy and slight confusion at times.

Super fun paranormal with great world building and strong found family vibes. Each sub-series has its own story arc, but there is bigger political drama unfolding throughout the series. Overall, you’ll like this series if you like good vs. evil plots, political drama, fated mates, alliance building.

The only negative is that I feel like each subseries should have been one book. I find that each individual book ends in an odd place, but each series has a good conclusion.

Although each sub-series can be read as a standalone, it’s much more enjoyable to binge in order:

Silver Wolf Series:
1. Broken Mate
2. Rising Darkness
3. Silver Moon

Royal Vampire series:
4. Cursed Mate
5. Shadow Bitten
6. Demon Blood

Demon Wolf Series:
7. Ruined Mate
8. Shattered Curse
9. Fated Souls

Dark Angel Series:
10. Fallen Mate
11. Demon Marked
12. Dark Prince
13. Fatal Secrets

Silver Mate Series:
14. Shattered Wolf
15. Fated Hearts
16. Ruthless Moon

Fated mates are the most important of all mates in wolf culture. How a silver wolf became the fated mate to a dark wolf was a mystery. Silver wolves were angel blessed and strongest under the influence of a full moon. Dark wolves were demon cursed (blessed?) and strongest under the new moon.
When Cyrus was kidnapped by the dark wolves and her wolf awakened, she had to go and get him back. What she discovered shocked her. These wolves were cruel and ruthless. Setting Cyrus and the silver wolves who defected when his twin became alpha and beta of the silver wolf pack free from the dark wolf pack was just the beginning of problems. The Demon was promised Annie upon her birth, and her wanted her.

good

This book was definitely better than the first book in the series. Annie is not such a whiner in this book. Unfortunately, Annie and Cyrus keep wanting to play the blame game on themselves when they had no reason to do so when they were just babies when they were kidnapped. Annie has been taught self-defense and is finally starting to stick up for herself. When they go to rescue Cyrus they find out who her father and mother were and why she was separated from her pack as a baby. Annie finds that she has more family than she thought she did and Cyrus find out how he ended up being separated from his pack. I hope the next one in this series is better.

Excellent

All the Shadow City books are exceptional and keep the reader spellbound all the way through and this book is no exception. Annie and Cyrus are true mates they are both a little broken from their upbringing and lack of knowledge where they came from but that all changed in this book each finds out more about themselves not all good but at least they know things. Annie is being chased by Demon Wolves and sought after by Demon Prince we are left with a cliff hanger after a fight with old enemies of the Silver Wolves and Annie being taken can't wait for the next book to conclude this story.

While attempting to rescue their pseudo pack members, everyone did not escape the demon wolves trap. Cyrus was specifically targeted in an effort to lure Annie to their stronghold. Annie and her super friends seek the help of witches who grudgingly agree to help.

At the demon wolf stronghold, Annie gets what she wants as she’s hit by surprise after surprise, none of them good but under no circumstances is it her plan to join their pack. In a perilous escape Cyrus, Annie and the superfriends are able to make it to the silver wolf den but they’re hotly pursued by the devil wolves with at least one other secret to share.

The writing style is engaging and easy to follow, making the book a quick read. However, I found the pacing to be somewhat inconsistent, with certain parts dragging while others rushed through crucial plot points. This affected the overall flow of the story and left me wanting more depth and development in certain areas.
The characters had potential, but I struggled to fully connect with them. While the idea of broken individuals seeking to break free from their curses was great, I wanted more emotional depth and growth from them. Also, the romantic relationships lacked the much needed chemistry for me.

Continuation of Annie and Cyrus story!

Favourite quote:
“We all have baggage, but that’s what makes us stronger and more empathetic. These circumstances not only build our character and fuel our motivations but force us to rely on the people around us. Because of these trials, we found a new family, one not forged of blood. Not that we don’t mourn the family we lost, but in our greatest times of despair, we found the will to move forward and love once more. In tragedy, there can be beauty. It might just take a minute for us to see what opportunities unfold.”

Shattered Curse is the second book of the Shadow City: Demon Wolf series. It is imperative to read series in order due to book two starting off where book one cliffhanger left us.

Annie and Cyrus find answers to questions from their past. Will the answers they find be able to help them take down the villains? Read to find out how Annie, Cyrus, with help of Sterlyn and the rest of the imperfectly perfect made family handle the answers and the villains. The journey includes action, chemistry, villains, friendship, and love.

Truths and secrets are finally revealed in this latest Shadow City book. Picking up where the last book left off, Annie is racing as fast as she can to her mate, Cyrus. But she is too late. Now the enemy has him and it will take everything her and her friends to get him and the other missing silver wolves back. The best plan they have is for Annie to go willingly to the enemy while her friends wait for the right moment to retrieve them. She will learn not only about her past and her birth and what supernatural she truly is, but even Cyrus will learn the secrets of when he was kidnapped as a baby. Really great story!! So many questions are answered in this latest book. Plus you can't help but love Cyrus and Annie more as you get to know them and the relationships they are building with their friends and family. Plus that cliffhanger ending will have you demanding for the next one asap! You don't want to miss this story.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Annie and Cyrus

Annie's foster Mom tells her she is a demon, but she is actually a demon wolf. She mates with Cyrus and her wolf comes out. The demon wolves attack the silver wolves to get Annie, who is the alphas daughter. They capture Cyrus and four of his pack. Annie willing goes to the demon wolves so she can rescue Cyrus and the others, with the help of Sterlyn, Griffin, Alex and Ronnie, and Lillian and Sierra and of course Rosemary and some witches.

Annie, Cyrus, and the rest are back and boy does this book give you a whole of twist, turns, emotions, and some unexpected moments you won't expect or see coming. I was on the edge of my seat while reading this and more I found out the more my mind was totally blown away. With each new truth that revealed the more the story opens up and by the end you will be totally enthralled you won't want it to end. I am on pins and needles waiting for the next..

This book has a lot going on. Annie and Cyrus does grow and learn a lot about them selves along with fighting demon wolves.

Now throughout the book, the author does do a lot of recaps, but they are shorter and not like the other books. Having to many recaps throughout the book doesn’t work for me because I lose track of what’s actually taking place. And it seems like this is the authors writing style. I’m hoping that it does get a little better with the other books.

I really enjoyed Cyrus and Annie getting closer and her using her background to help work through some of their issues. Annie acclimates to the supernatural world quite easily, but based on her character, it doesn’t feel inauthentic. Some of the secrets that come out in this book relate back to the very first books from this world and I love how it all comes together.
Another cliffhanger on the end, and excited to read the next book!

As much of a fan as I am of Annie and Cyrus and their oh so dramatic relationship, I looooved those other demon wolves set in this book. If we get another spin off, I want to see more. As for Annie and Cyrus, I was less engaged in their relationship and helping each other out in this book as opposed to the first. It wasn't bad, but the content around the relationship was better.
