Could life get any worse for fifteen-year-old Geri? It’s hot. It’s buggy, and she’s at the worst place on the planet … summer camp. To make matters worse, Geri carries the pain of her parents’ separation. Nonetheless, she’ll do anything to make her dreams of going to Juilliard come true, even if that means squashing spiders in the pursuit of a college scholarship.
With Chopin’s sheet music in tow, Geri heads to Flagstaff, Arizona, and finds herself not only pursuing music but a romance with the camp’s most sought-after guy, Ethan. When his ex-girlfriend shows up and threatens not only their relationship but also her dream, Geri sees her chance at the scholarship begin to slip away.
After a compromising situation and secrets about Chloe surface, Geri wonders if winning is the most important thing of all. She needs to decide if she can take steps toward healing, move on from the past, and embrace her future. Will camp be all that Geri thought it would be, or will it hold the keys to healing she never could have imagined?
If you like camp but hate mosquitos, you'll totally relate to this one. I enjoyed watching the romance blossom and feeling like I stepped into a camp competition.
A truly entertaining story of young talent by an amazing young talented woman. I met Jenna at a local event, purchased her book (she signed it for me 😁) and read it quickly. I can’t wait to what else this talented young writer creates.
Fame meets High School Musical ... the book edition!
When Geri plays the keys of the piano, I *hear* the rhythm. It's fascinating! (How does the author DO that?!) Also, I appreciate the deeper tone of parental separation/heartache of divorce in this YA romance. Clean and fun with perky friend Abby and love in the air--and plenty of mosquitos--I'm looking forward to book #2!
