Wow, this was very insightful. I loved how they explained step by step EVERY area of your house and how to achieve a good detox cleanse in those areas. I also enjoyed that they have recipes for chemical free cleaning agents. Plus, the added bonuses of eco-friendly ways to detoxify your home like what brooms/dust pans and even brushes are better for you and the environment. This was REALLY helpful as I'm on the journey to become more sustainable and eco-friendly. I truly appreciated the tips and in depth explanations in this book!

I was given this book by NetGalley and the publishers to read and review. All statements above are my own opinion after fully reading this book.

This is a very helpful guide that takes you room by room explaining the biggest health hazards in each room and healthy alternatives to still have a beautiful, clean, comfortable home. Chace gives recipes for simple cleaners but she also goes much further with lists of the top ten pollutants in each room and what to do instead. For instance, I didn't realize memory foam pillows and mattresses offgased so much unhealthy stuff, and she doesn't just tell you what they contain and how it affects you but also gives a wide range of safer materials. In some cases it could use a little more, like the baby room section says disposable diapers are linked to all kinds of health issues and she says to just use a diaper service instead. There are no diaper services where I live and I used cloth diapers happily with some of my kids. There are more options besides disposables and a service. Still, it's a very comprehensive resource with lots of color photos and it leaves the reader empowered and educated rather than overwhelmed.

I read a digital ARC of this book for review.

An informative, totally transfixing, and thoroughly researched book.

For someone like myself who suffers from a very debilitating illness, every little non-toxic addition to, and toxic subtraction from, my home helps. You will be shocked at the amount of harmful chemicals in your living, eating and sleeping areas. Even if you have read other books of this ilk and you think you have a good awareness of the subject, trust me, you'll learn one or even a couple of dozen new tips in this work.

Daniella Chace's day job is to help others with removing toxins from their house, thus making significant improvements in their health. The book is structured on a room-to-room basis, so whichever place you wish to start with, it's all laid out for you. If you don't understand what the initials mean on your current household cleaners, there's a handy listing for you to follow. The fact that the author provides a whole list of non-toxic and chemical-free alternatives, including homemade cleaners, make this book worth its weight in gold. An excellent piece of non-fiction.

I chose to read an ARC copy of this work, which I then voluntarily and honestly reviewed. All opinions are my own. My thanks to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. I'm not going to lie...these books always scare me to death when they start talking about everything in my house that can harm me...But I love reading them so I can at least be prepared to lose a lot of this stuff in my own time. I have to make small changes over time and nothing too drastic all at once. I will admit that this would have been a MUCH better book if it were not digital. All in all, it was very informative and I will take much of it with me into my life...

Daniella Chace, a toxicology clinician, takes us through a simple program to remove toxins from our homes. Research shows that we are more exposed to toxins in our home than we are outside.
The home detox program offers actionable steps that have the greatest positive impact on the health of Chace's clients through the years.

The first step in removing toxins is locating them, which is the heart of the program. This is a method for removing toxins and a path towards a nontoxic lifestyle. Chace's wish is that we will feel the joy and power that comes with taking control and making changes that improve our wellbeing. As we learn more about how toxins interfere with health, this cause-and-effect relationship becomes very clear.

The book is written in a very organized and systematic way with recipes for simple, natural cleaning solutions that effectively remove grease, grime, and harmful particulates. First, we learn the top ten toxins in each room. Then target these highly toxic items and decide to remove, replace, or modify them. Some of these items can be recycled or tossed out, while others will need to be replaced. And when we’re shopping for a household product, read the labels. Consider all options. Ask yourself: Is this product necessary? Do I know what its ingredients are? Are they safe to have in my home? If you can’t answer yes to all of these criteria, don’t buy it.

Soon, we will be able to feel the benefits of living a non-toxic life.

A very practical guide for every household.

This book is fantastic! It simplifies the detox process so that anyone can do it! I love that she includes all of her cleaning recipes and they are all natural and frugal options that are good for our health. They are also simple with few ingredients that are reused in other recipes. The author identifies the most toxic items in each room and how the reader can make healthier options, then goes step by step in the cleaning detox of each space. This one on my favorite books on the subject because of how much she simplifies the process, while still including a lot of informative info to help educate the reader.

I both loved and loathed this.
I’m completely paranoid about my house now.
I did enjoy the recipes and I wish they had been repeated in a separate chapter, along with others we could use to make our own products.
Unfortunately the reality is, to live an eco friendly, low toxin, zero waste life, one must have money to get started.
I love a book that showed how to do all this positive stuff on a shoestring budget.

Thank you NetGalley for the copy to review..

Fascinating and helpful guide to how to detox your home! It was terrifying to learn how many chemicals are in everyday cleaners and products. I love how the book went room by room breaking down where toxins can be and how to detox the space and alternatives to use. I learned so much and I’ll definitely be not only sharing this book with friends and family when it comes out, but using these alternatives in my everyday life.

*Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy.

Thank you NetGalley for the preview copy. Lots of good tips and info contained in this book, but a lot of it is redundant. The author tends to repeat the information throughout the book. This book would be most beneficial for newbies to the subject
