Two FBI agents are sent to Wyoming as there is another accident/kidnapping on a certain section of the highway. The only information that they have is that there is black pain on the cars that we involved in the accident and no sign of the drivers which are all young females. The lead FBI agent, Rylie, has a secret of her own. She grew up in the area and as a child someone took her 12 year old sister and she has never been seen again. She is wondering if this is connected and if her sister could possibly still be alive. Will have to continue with the series to see if the mystery is ever solved.

A gripping read

Can you ever let go of the past? Agent Rylie Wolf & her partner Michael Brisbane needs to find the highway killer before more women are killed. But the case is hitting too close to home for Rylie she knows that her partner knows that something is wrong. But she just needs to concentrate on finding the killer. Will they be able to find him before it is too late to save the last young woman that he took? Can Rylie keep it together long enough to find him?
A good read. I think that Rylie needs to let Michael in more as she doesn't need to do everything by herself. I hope that she does find out the truth about that day.

IT'S KINDA ANNOYING THAT RYLIE ALWAYS HAS TO BE ROUSED FROM HER THOUGHTS AND BRISBANE ASKING, "ARE YOU SURE YOUR ALRIGHT"? GRRR! AND WHY SOESN'T SHE EAT HOW UNHEALTHY IS THAT? I'M SURE SHE WOULD THINK AND ACT BETTER IF SHE GAVE HER MIND SOME FUEL TO RUN ON. GEEZ! AS NUTTY AS SHE IS I WONDER WHY THE FBI DID'NT PICK UP ON IT WHEN SHE BECAME AN AGENT, I HOPE SHE IMPROVES IN FUTURE SERIES. ;<

Rylie and Brisbane definitely still are not seeing eye-to-eye, he talks too much and she too little, she reacts too fast, and he likes to think things through, but both are determined to make her partnership work. Caught You is a story full of suspense with different culprits, lots of dead-ends, and a very final and difficult lead to pursue. Will they be able to catch the killer? How will their partnership go on when both do not want to lose face in front of the other? How will Reilly deal with her loved ones to whom she is now near? I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series to learn how all of these go on!

FBI Special Agent Rylie Wolf is still on punishment duty after being banished from the Seattle Office for telling her supervisor exactly what she thought of him (and getting a standing ovation from her co-workers). She’s stuck in the Rapid City, SD field office (a former animal shelter), not far from the place where she was traumatized and irrevocably changed as a child. Rylie is hunting a serial killer who crashes into vulnerable victims on the Highway through Hell, and kidnaps the victims for obscure reasons. She has to determine what those reasons are and stop more innocent people from dying.


That trauma is “ … the reason she’d become an FBI agent. The reason she was known for taking chances. The reason she did everything possible to get her man. She imagined every criminal as responsible for Maren’s [her sister] kidnapping and her mother’s death … and she simply had to put every ounce of herself into it.”


This book was as satisfying as book 1 in the series. Rylie has to battle her demons and piece together the answers before someone else dies. I enjoyed seeing Rylie try to reconcile her past with her present, and make peace in both places. She’s driven, stubborn, and fiercely independent, qualities which appeal to me, but I was glad to see her start to thaw in her relationship with her partner, Michael Brisbane. Watching her solve the crimes while navigating personal complications was interesting. And the ending left me hungry to find out what happens in book 3. Glad I stumbled on to this series. These books are better in order as each one dovetails into the next one.

I'm listening to the audiobook. First, the narrator is not American. Her pronunciation of American words is very annoying –"ashphalt" for asphalt, for example. Her word emphasis is weird, changing the meaning of what I thought a character actually said. And she makes men sound as if they are more stupid than they are written.

Molly Black and Blake Pierce both crank out so many books that are very similar, it is difficult to tell their stories apart. An FBI agent is a lone wolf, has some trauma in her background, overly obsesses about the trauma or guilt of something they should be doing instead of working, and ends up doing something alone and is nearly killed while solving everything.

I enjoyed the first book in this series and really liked the idea of agents working serial crimes along a stretch of highway. This one truly needed an editor or proofreader at the very least. The glaring errors – "What type of car was it?" "It was a pickup truck." – really take away from a decent story.

Now that I really think about it, maybe AI helps these two authors to crank out so many poorly written books. Their story outlines for each book are almost identical with just the location and trauma being different. And the dialogue can be horrible.

I most likely will not finish this book and will not be picking up any more by Black or Pierce. Both of them have great ideas for characters and stories, but the execution is not so good.

What are women detectives trying to prove? They always seem to be a little more irrational and impulsive than their male counter-parts. Rylie Wolf is out to solve the murder of her family and friends that she witnessed as a child. Is her sister, Maren, still alive? In the mean time, she has to work the cases in front of her as an FBI agent working in South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana. A serial killer is targeting good looking young women, kidnapping them, killing them, and leaving them on the side of "Highway to Hell" interstate 86. Wolf, and her partner, the ever cheerful Brisbane, are still working out how to work with each other. He totally has her six; can't say the same for her. This story is intense and we get to see the thinking, false leads, and leg work that go into finding a killer, hopefully before the latest kidnapping becomes the latest death. For all her baggage and flaws, I like Rylie Wolf. She is on my must read list.

Easy read if you don't want to tax your brain. Very formulaic....in fact I read another book just before this one by another author and kept confusing the story lines since I don't read all in one sitting. Female detective, new location, new partner, estranged family, missing sister, procedural. You know how this is going to end half an hour after you start reading. It was hard to get to like Rylie...she is driven to the point of mania. Why it has taken her all theses years to figure out that she could investigate her sister's disappearance on her own escapes me. I suppose that story line will run throughout the rest of the series, but I found it more annoying than interesting. Not a series I would pick up again unless it fell into my lap.

I don't know if I'm more annoyed with Rylie's eating habits or her need to be the one to catch the bad guy even if that means she does something so dumb, but maybe she does that dumb thing because she's hungry? At any rate, this case seemed a little similar to the first book in the series - crazy man tracks down women on a highway and murders them. There were a few twists and turns that finally led Riley to her suspect, but that road seemed to take forever. I do see the partnership of Riley and Micheal developing well, mainly just waiting on him to continue to be a good influence on her. I'm going to continue with the series since I already bought them all in a bundle sale, but right now they're feeling very, meh...

"Caught You" by Molly Black could be a 5 star book. I liked the premise, plot line, and the two main characters. FBI agent Rylie Wolf is a reluctant partner to Michael Brisbane her co-worker.

Rylie has a reputation of being a so-called "lone wolf" and would rather work alone. This issue is complicated by her tramatic childhood. She trusts no one.

Michael Brisbane's characterization is almost clown-like. He is more than a snack eating agent. With many false starts, he proves his worth.

Maybe in the next book of this series, Rylie will grow and learn how to be a friend and be a better
co-worker. Sharing isn't a sign of weakness.

Rylie was a tough FBI agent, always getting hurt somehow but she kept going. She was working a case where a man was kidnapping girls by causing a accident with their cars but not bad enough to really hurt the girls. He would then hold them for a few days before hurting them. Rylie was giving a partner to work with her but she didnt really want him. She was quick on the go when ever a clue was found. She just didnt wait for nothing. It took along time to figure out who was doing this and why. It went way back years ago to when her sister went missing.Did they finally figure it out.Did Rylie go out on her own once she realized the connection.?

Typical FBI agent driven by past trauma and hiding it from their partner. But, in this case, the FBI agent is new and is a psychology therapist, adding another element to the well-worn trope. Her partner, an experienced agent, is more empathic than most men in the same position, which serves to be a thorn in her side.

As is often the case, this agent/therapist is not very good at seeing how her own issues are on full display and this becomes half the story. The other half of the story, the manhunt for a serial killer, follows expected pathways for the most part. It is the interaction of these two main storylines that really make the whole book come alive.

Great concept. However, the “lone wolf” trope was a bit overdone with Rylie. I’m sure it was to create more character development over time—perhaps in other books, but it got to the point where every time Rylie inevitably ventured out alone we’re all just waiting for something bad to happen to her. Which it did, every time. Michael Brisbane was the humanizing, redeeming character of this book. I won’t continue on with this series, but will probably read future Goodreads reviews to see if her childhood trauma had a resolution.

Agent Wolf reluctantly partnered with Michael Brisbane is after a serial killer on the notorious i-86 again. After catching their original suspect they realise someone else is taking and strangling young girls and they are still on the case. After a few false starts they are close on his trail and he takes Riley as an extra along with another young girl but Brisbane steps in and saves the day, good job she has a partner even if he's annoying. They really should get that road sorted, cameras and some patrols organised.

Rylie Wolf is not a quitter

Her old boss in the FBI sent Rylie to solve many murders that had happened along a road called”highway to Hell” as punishment. As soon as she got to town a series of car accidents were occurring with the women disappearing. Her new partner was Agent Brisbane, one of those forever smiling happy man. No way could she trust him.
Again lots of twists and turns. Well written, loved the characters, and could not put it down. Off to read third book in series.

Loved This Book!!!

Mysteries always claim they are riveting. This one really is. Prepare to stay up late. You aren't going to be able to put it down.

Rylie Wolf is an FBI agent. She likes to work alone. When she is assigned a partner on her new case, she figures she will just ignore him. But her new partner thinks differently. Fortunately.

Now I notice this is book two and I have book one. Guess I better read that.

Poorly executed

A good story will turn into a good book only when it has a writer who knows how to make it gripping. This writer did not succeed in doing that. And the amount of spelling and grammatical mistakes present made me wonder if the book was proofread. But overall, the story was good. The characters could have used a bit more depth but for a few nights reading material, it ain't all bad.

Fast paced never boring

I liked Rylie but she is frustrating . That's part of her character. Love her partner. Together you never have a dull moment. The storyline was good but the end was pretty predictable. Of course you always want the good guys to win but I've read this ending in a lot of books. Would have been nice to not have girl do something dumb and good guy save her. I would recommend this book to a friend

He had her back and good job to

Good thriller that gets a bit confusing mixing Rylie Wolfs past with the FBI job her and her partner where on. Because that wasn't really explained so muddied the waters a bit for me as it would have explained why she was haphazard in her thinking and logic, however a good thriller in that it wasn't just a straight forward case nothing to point the way nothing that was clear as to why bodies where turning up.

Well our favorite FBI agent Rylie Wolf is on the trail of another serial killer. Great read, just don’t plan to do anything except read after page 1. One of my favorite series. Each is a stand alone book but there is still a common thread. Highly recommend.

FBI Mystery

Caught You by Molly Black is about two FBI agents who are trying to catch a serial killer who is targeting young females.
The story is solid, mostly, and makes for a good read. I felt the characters could have been fleshed out a lot more and of course there were the inevitable typos but overall it is good.

A pretty predictable cops snd robbers read. Disgraced FBI female agent, Rylee Wolf get sent to work on cold cases on Highway 84 (Highway to Hell). She stumbled on to a serial killer case where the killer splays out his victims as “art” on highway markers. It ends with Rylee victorious in a unbelievable fight to the finish. All a bit over the top but fast paced, easy to read and entertaining.

Good mystery about crazy guy who runs girls driving at night all alone off the "highway to hell" just to kill them for revenge from an accident years ago. FBI agents investigate and get him in the end (of course). I just don't like the idea of that happening....I drive alone at night sometimes so it creeps me out a bit.

Too much telling of the main character who is extremely flawed and boring.
Story moved too slow. Need to develope Rylie into a tough but more likeable
character. Add a little banter among the co-workers and write a story that
moves forward rather than treads water. A more active rather than passive
story is needed.

Mind Gripping!!

I've the personal story line and the angst ridden heroine who does her kid in spite of her childhood trauma. Very well written and olds your attention throughout! Cannot wait to read next book!!
