Everything isn't as it seems.

I broke her.
I would do it again to keep her safe.

Well, I said book one was poorly written but this blows that out of the water. I'm assuming the author had all of the spelling and grammar checks turned off of the word processor system that was used and didn't reread a single part of this book. I'm not sure there was a single page without an error of some sort.
Poorly written, rushed, lack lustre.
It's a shame because if executed well, the ideas behind this book could have made it a great read.

Good plot, Interesting read... but

I Liked the story plot line and the characters were overall very Intriguing from the first book to this book.

However, the dialog was so repetitive it was off-putting. Even the phrasing would be so similar or identical from passage to passage, I would have to make sure I didn't just reread a page or something.
Additionally, the character development would circle back over and over; typically when an author does this it's to emphasize or give a new POV into a mindset or a situation. However, this just felt like spinning my wheels in certain parts of the book.
Again, good plot, but this made it feel drawn out way past the amount of necessary pages.

Also, I didn't notice as many in the first book (we are all human-making little mistakes), but the amount of text errors I found in this book (at least the e-reader version) was unsettling. From grammatical, to spelling, to verb and noun usage, there were enough errors I couldn't overlook it.

I shouldn't have kept reading the series after book 1, but I didn't want to leave the story unfinished.

Could definitely do with some major editing. Names were constantly misspelled (Mellissa/Melissa) in the same paragraph... POV changes without announcing it... changing from 1st person to 3rd person and back on the same page...

Some of the other things I had a hard time with:

*no character growth.. MCs just keep doing the same things without different results
*multiple POVs (other than MMC and FMC) that didn't add to the story
*characters saying the same things in the exact same way over and over (and over and over)... sometimes in the same scene
*poor storyline resolutions

Probably won't be reading more by this author

Why does it feel as though this book was written by a 14 year old. The world building isn’t that bad and would make a good book is the spelling, grammar, inconsistencies and overall poor writing didn’t make this book completely unbearable to read. This book shouldn’t be published.

I FEEL LIKE IM MISSING SOMETHING
Everybody’s talking about grammar and spelling errors but why TF did Lucien keep going back to aria and cheating on Scarlett with other women.
I DNF around 50% because I was so irritated.
I usually tough it out but that shit was so embarrassing for everyone involved

rushed incomplete ending needs editing

I liked the first book. And was excited to read the 2nd. The story initially progressed nicely. This was listed as a 2 book series for the 2 main characters. This unfortunately didn’t deliver. The last 1/4 of the book was rushed and had to try to tease unsuccessfully the next characters. There was missing details, and instead of flowing like the previous book this ending was just a statement of this is what happened. Nothing on how they got there, further character development and repeated statements like they were a new revelation. It was like 2 different people had written this. I’m disappointed as there was such potential but building for the next books took over and underwhelmed.

Good read

Good story to read however it was frustrating to read the same thing 3 or 4 times throughout the story.

was there no budget for an editor?

This was an absolutely tough read. Between the repetitive phrases (one chapter used “waiting with bated breath” at least 3 times over the span of two pages and more throughout the book….and the blatant misspellings and completely incorrect words detracted from what might have been a passable story. The author used Harlem instead of harem more than once. She misspelled one of her characters names more than once (is it Mellissa or Melissa?). Inappropriate apostrophes abounded. In some instances the misspellings or incorrect words rendered the sentence utterly confusing.

The main character, Scarlett is supposed to be this bad ass witch but she was almost unlikable as a character. “Bond” or not, she came off as weak willed and gullible when Lucien continues sleeping with Aria and she has these dumb internal “struggles” where she is supposedly going to resist her sexual attraction and tell him to eff off for repeatedly lying and sleeping with other women then drops her panties the second he gives some half-ass non-committal response. Weak AF.

And Lucien? Some bad ass demon dude who has the wherewithal to kill a pedo with no remorse, never stands up to Aria even once? He absolutely could have killed her and just been done with it, she had zero purpose to the story other than the jealous girlfriend trope. No reason is ever given for why he cannot just snap her neck and go exclusive with Scarlett. None. It’s not even remotely believable. The number of times through book 1 and 2 where someone says “there’s no other way” just made this into one difficult series to get through. The epilogues were all over the place not even making sense. I’m not even sure why we needed so many different POVs. Lucien and Scarlett would have been sufficient. This absolutely needed more and better sex scenes to get through this. I’m pretty sure the main characters only banged to completion twice between both books. Then there were like a dozen other “side” romantic entanglements that added zero to the actual storyline.

I feel like a 15 year old wrote this.

Very Well Imagined, Needs Editing & Review

First of all, I really liked this story, spanning 2 books, for about 75% of it. I liked it more than I actually wanted to, when, after so much proof of Aria’s duplicity, and the threat Aria poses to his fated mate, it is ridiculous that a demon as ruthless as Lucius would keep her alive. His logic was never really clear, or justified. Moreover, that Scarlett would let him get away with that, over and over, was even more ridiculous and frustrating.

The ending of book 2 was a rushed setup for a bunch of other books, presumably giving each sister and several other characters their own stories, but left this story with a hole and, while not a cliffhanger, this story is not finished.

These plot issues combined with several spelling, punctuation, and grammar issues mean this story would really benefit from an editor. It has a lot of potential, and I think it could be really great with helpful, guiding support.

This book could’ve had so much potential unfortunately it was a mess . It was rushed a lot of things didn’t make sense it was from multiple characters POV then it was from a third persons POV clearly a mistake. Main characters supposed to be so powerful but they didn’t do anything to show how powerful they are . Lucien slept around with other women while he was declaring how much he loves Scarlet and all that MINE nonsense and putting up with Aria but he was the most powerful demon in that place and everyone was afraid of him buuuuuuttt he was still sleeping with Aria to protect Scarlet??? Nope that’s the most ridiculous thing I ever read . When Scarlet said if she would sleep with other guys would he be happy he just lost it getting angry saying that’s not gonna happen but he was having threesomes ?? 😏😏 at the end Aria is still alive after all that drama .

Interesting But Unfinished Storyline

I truly thought this book had an interesting story line, but it moved too quickly and jumped around a lot. It just seemed very rushed and unfinished…. I am curious to read the next book to see how things continue, but it was also tough for me to read and stay engaged in the story, because the writing constantly switching tenses and POVs. It swapped between past/present tense a lot and sometimes the points of view switched back and forth front first and third person. The story line is really interesting and this book was good, but it could have been absolutely amazing with just a little more detail and attention to the writing structure! I’m looking forward to seeing what VL Peters brings to the table with the next book! And I wish success to a very creative author!

There is an obvious lack of proof reading.

There is so much potential in this storyline. However, it is obvious that the author does not proofread or plan the story line out. The time frames within the story are all messed up. And attractions to others got mixed up as well. It becomes a frustrating jumbled mess to read. This caused me to be broken out of the world. The end of this book was extremely rushed. Lucien is a moron and his reasoning for all his actions made no sense. It has to make sense to the reader at least a little bit, but it never does. Scarlett is a strong character that I liked. Conflict happens between the main characters, and they have sex and it's fixed. Very weak conflict resolution. The book is really just all over the place.

I’d probably say that I enjoyed this book slightly less than the first one. Any time it got to an interesting point that the author had been leading up to, it would skip a couple of days or it would briefly gloss over what happened. This annoyed me, especially by the end of the book when the epilogue tried to summarise everything in a couple of pages. I know that there is a third book coming out in October and there’s a lot of different ways it could be written but this book (unlike the first book) hasn’t left me wanting more. I’ll see if I remember to buy the next book in October because I am excited to see how the different parts of the story line up with each other. I just really wish this book was more detailed in places.

Mixed feelings, still with the cheating trope😒, this seems to be a theme with all the relationships in this series (or they are being set up that way) and the FMC cares/is hurt, but also doesn't do anything about it until she leaves to protect her baby. Then after he is born, she still comes back for his cheating *ss for f*cking real?? And we are suppose to take that as a HEA?!? It felt very rushed but also like nothing happened at the same time. I still think this as a series has a lot of potential, there was just not much meat to this story . . . and if we could not make cheating a normal part of what is supposed to be a HEA relationship (fated mates at that) that'd be great.

Audio was good.

A stark downfall from the first book. Proofreading seemed non-existent, I had to reread a lot of moments to understand what was even being said. The story line progressed well, but towards the end it's almost like the author was like,"ready to be done, skip a few weeks and leave the reader super confused with vague skips". It was a rough read. I finished it as I became attached to the characters, but I probably won't even bother with the 3rd book because of the obvious decline the author is having. Disappointed as the plot had so much potential to be done well. The ending was also just so rushed and vague and semi-upsetting.

Now this is a very sloppy book. I rate it a 6 for the plot, however it was very poorly written. It was as if someone couldn’t be bothered to read over any of it again. There were clear cut and paste errors, editing mistakes and grammar issues. It really wound me up and put a sour taste in my mouth. It felt lazy. However, I enjoyed the plot but the ending felt rushed. - 5/10

**** SUMMARY ****

Following on from the previous book, the humans, witches and naturals keep searching for the missing people. The witch sisters are stronger than ever, however everyone seems a little distracted with various love/hate interests. Can everyone stay focused and expose the old enemy?

meh

I felt like the story line strayed from the one in the beginning. a lot of emphasis had been put on the fact that Scarlett is powerful but never used her powers .

The story has a lot of potential but needs editing. Too many POVs which seemed to have confused the author. Sometimes written in third person rather than first.

Like I said, it has potential but needs to be edited. The story line has too much happening in little words. There would need at least another book or two to complete the series.

In dire need of editing

Although I enjoyed book one to a degree, book two was a huge let down with numerous editing errors. What really pushed it down to two stars was the big bad hero who was in all honesty, too stupid to live with his constant thinking that in order to protect the mfc he had to lie to, and hurt her at every turn whilst protecting the villain in the guise of gathering information. MFC whilst being a slightly stronger character with a bit of backbone suffered from a serious case of BBS countless times.

There are several typos in this book.
- [ ] Sometimes Melissa is spelt Mellissa
- [ ] The baby has the name Joseph and Joshua.
- [ ] There was a line that Cullen (Ezra) had killed Ezra…
- [ ] There was a time that “I” was listed as “1” (one)
- [ ] There are paragraphs were the language bounces between first and third person, which is confusing
- [ ] The narrative changes between characters in the same section and it’s confusing. Example: page 275 is Lucien, but the third paragraph is Scarlett talking

don’t waste your time

This book is repetitive and not worth the read. Multiple grammar and syntax errors, repeated ideas/conversations throughout book by multiple characters, boring read. Characters are unlikeable. The romance scenes are awful, lacking any build up of romance, author doesn’t know how to tease up to it, very disappointing, and I enjoyable to read. I found myself skimming past these scenes or skipping all together. I couldn’t make it through the whole book, which is unheard of for me.

So many errors

This book had so much potential, it was really sad reading all the errors and mistakes. Apart from gramatical and spelling mistakes, which are maybe slightly more common, the author would forget what person they were writing from. They would write in third person when it really need to be first person because the chapter was from the first person’s point of view. The author also repeated dialogue so much. It was like reading a school paper that had a character or page limit and they were trying to reach that limit. Very disappointed

Needs to be edited and redrafted

Poor plot line and way too many POV's. Poor grammar and punctuation throughout with lots of typos. Storyline felt like it could have been developed deeper and the MMC and FMC had too few scenes together to develop an actual believable relationship.
Slow burn felt more like a slow death and I ended up hating the MMC, he had no backbone.
The FMC never really matured or grew, just accepted their circumstances. Has the potential to be a great story with interesting world building potential but it never really took off.

Too repetitive

While I enjoyed book one, I felt book two left a lot to be desired. The storyline had a good concept, but it was very repetitive and contradicting for my liking. Also, there were some editing errors I noticed. For example, they started writing Abigail instead of Mia having something with the Fae King. I will give book three a chance though, because like I mentioned, the storyline has potential.

Good story plot but dragging on at certain points..

Great story if you like fantasy, detailed sex scenes, quite pleasant to read. Im giving 4 stars just because the plot seems to be dragging on after a while and there are pages where the author keeps repeating or the characters do- the same subjects over and over.. becomes a bit exhausting tbh at certain points..
Overall enjoyed both book 1 and 2. 👌

awful ending so disappointing

Too rushed so sad as ideas are great and has the potential to be so much better but this edit should of been changed
All the build up to find Nathan and Megan for them to not even have the focus at the end
Too much unexplained and few too many points of view throughout the book with many paragraphs repeated so you felt you read twice
This could be so good but needs a rewrite especially the ending

I read the first book and should not have read the 2nd but I just had to see if they found Megan. Fyi they do.

The story line would have been great if the main characters did not continuously fuck up and allow each other to be forgiven over and over again.

Also they kept repeating the same thing over and over again every other chapter. Honestly you could skip half a chapter and still understand what was going on.

Another fabulous read although I did find the ending a little hurried, but I’m sure there is more to come from Scarlett & Lucien along with the other characters. They all have their own story to tell and can’t wait to see how they develop. And as much as I despised Aria, I don’t think she’s quite finished either

Book one had a bunch of misspellings, this one was exponentially worse!! Repetitive dialogue, misspelling, Joseph instead of Joshua, winningly instead of willingly. Book 3 is coming out in October. At the rate these books are in need of better editing, we might not be able to understand it. Dear author, please allow us to edit your book!!

Okay so the concept of this storyline is awesome. Absolutely love it. But the grammar and spelling errors distracted me and made me feel like I was reading a rough draft. This book has even more issues than the first one! As I said, story line has so much potential and if you can just pretend the errors aren’t there, read it!😂

3.5 stars, I don’t know who edited this book but there are so many grammatical and punctuation errors. I usually don’t care too much on that but it’s very noticeable in this series. I like the plot but the author includes so many peoples POV’s that it can be too much, so I’m happy I can follow along with it.
