Seventy-five years ago, alpha wolf Rex Winter and his brothers were cursed by a powerful witch known as the Snow Queen. Ever since, they have lived as wolves, only able to shift during the night of the full moon. The only way to break the curse is to claim their fated mates.
Rex knows it's time to leave their ancestral lands. Guided only by a dream of his mate, they travel hundreds of miles across the frozen wilderness to a place called Fate Island.
Luna Linwood is all alone. Her ex-boyfriend left her to pursue his dreams and didn't even ask her to come along. Her rent is too high for her wages as an indie book store manager, and the bills are stacking up.
When she finds out her long lost grandmother has left her a bookstore in Alaska, Luna is overjoyed and enraged. Her father and stepmother told her that her mother's mother was dead. Luna takes a chance, and travels to Fate Island to claim what is hers.
When she arrives, she meets new friends and finds her late grandmother had many more surprises in store for Luna. She signs up for a shifter dating app and is matched with Rex Winter.
Will Luna be able to accept all the changes in her new life? Can she and Rex overcome the curse that has kept him locked in his wolf form for decades, or will it be too much for either of them to overcome.

I’m not sure where to start with this one, when I picked it up I didn’t realize this was part of a series of novellas and won't be continuing. It was an ok read, only a few grammatical/word errors, and very fast paced. It’s a fated mate book (emphasis on fate), the conflicts and actions in this book are very shallowly developed, and everything happens in a matter of days. Of course, had to throw in the unprotected sex too, though after the first time the characters acknowledged it and were like "who cares, let's just start a family while we're at it" and were even happy at the prospect of a pregnancy. He kept thinking about how he needed to go at an "appropriate pace", modern women were different from his time (with no specifics of how), and he needed to woo her before claiming her but naturally that all goes out the window immediately.
One point that REALLY grated on me though was Luna saying it was actually probably all her fault they didn't use protection - because of course it's the female's responsibility to think of that and always be prepared (p. 86/127 Kindle version, 68%). That and the fact that since she was so used to people letting her down, any bit of kindness he showed her was proof to her he was perfect and he just accepted it. He has vague thoughts about how she deserves the world and when he realizes she has very low expectations of him he doesn't try to show her that he treats her well because she deserves to be treated well.
I really liked the premise of this book, but with only 127 pages it didn’t leave much room to flesh anything out. The guys all seem to have similar personalities and I had a hard time distinguishing between them, other than Damian having suicidal notions that are brushed off as morbid comments. The curse was an interesting plot point, but the whole 75 years thing didn't really add anything at all to the story other than the guys being way behind on technology and decades of trauma.
In this world shifters are common knowledge and have assimilated into the general population, even having a matchmaking/dating site where they apparently find their fated mate based on a couple generic questions, or someone just looking to date a shifter.
Luna spent her life believing her grandmother was dead until she receives a letter at the perfect time stating her grandmother had actually been alive and just passed, leaving everything she owned in Alaska to Luna. Luna packs up and drives to her new home to take over her grandmother’s book and occult shop with the apartment above. Here she discovers witches are also real and she comes from the most powerful, matrilineal line of witches in existence.
The Winter Wolves come from central Alaska and have been cursed the past 75 years by the mysterious, immortal Snow Queen who made it so the six brothers are only human for 24 hours on the full moon – the cure being finding and claiming their mate. They claim to be more man than beast after so long, though they didn’t really seem that way. They have also barely aged, by their estimation the curse made it so they only age the day they are human (which would equate to about 2.5 years). Rex has a dream vision of his mate (Luna) in a town called Selkie and the brothers decide to migrate there in hopes of finding all their mates.
We meet a couple side characters, mainly River (the crow shifter who owns the bakery next to Luna’s shop) and Teal (a young coven member who will be helping Luna work on a treatment for the pack’s curse). I had thought these would be two future mates for the brothers, but when I looked through the future book blurbs they are not. I kept wondering how long it will take for her dad to show up too, but he probably won't.
Luna Linwood didn’t know that her grandmother had been alive while she was growing up without her mother. When she received a letter from an attorney informing her that she is her grandmother’s sole heir. Since her boyfriend left her to pursue his own dreams, and the bills on the apartment she can’t afford on her own are coming due, she decides to pack up and move to Fate Island, Alaska to claim her inheritance. Rex and his brothers are the Winter pack, seventy-five years ago they were cursed by the Snow Queen and can only shift to their human form once a month on the full moon. When he dreams about finding his mate, he convinces his brothers that it is time to leave the only home they have ever known and the land that has been in their family for generations.
I loved this book and these characters. The characters are all well written and compelling. Luna and Rex are sweet, and each determined to find a way to have a life together. Sweet, and steamy happily ever after romance, with an interesting twist that keeps a reader engaged from the first page to the last. I think this is a fantastic start to a fascinating new series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This story is excellent. The characters were captivating and diverse. I like that they aren't like the usual characters from other stories. Luna and Rex are fated mates, but their interests, and issues very different. Luna had a bad relationship and it has been hard for Rex as a shifter. Both characters originally began their relationship knowing they were fated and loved each other. It's has few twists to the roles fated mates as with Rex was the one of the two that knew about mates. In a similar role Luna had no idea she could finally find love. The secondary characters are family and friends who make this a well developed and multidimensional. The reader was clearly able to feel the camaraderie between the characters through words of this plot. The story ending was a culmination of resolving issues and restoring love. I have enjoyed this author's books before and she never throws in a miss-timed resolutions for the plot sake.Instead she develops a HEA for her reader enjoyment and so that they complimented and flowed with the pace of the story. This amazing story and a great start to a series Happy Reading!
A unique story with our shifter wolves having a special problem Luna may be the only one who can solve it.
With their parents dead, he's the Alpha and eldest of five. Most werewolves want and even need to find their mates. For Rex and his pack, it is even more. They are cursed and mating is their only possible cure. Will leaving and going to ...... a town with lots of shifters give them what they need?
Arriving separately in a new place Luna and the wolf pack find the citizens friendly and accepting making new friends almost immediately. Will they find the answers to a new life filled with love and so much more. But, will they find the answers to live a real life? To break the curse that's plagued them for so many years?
This may be my favorite shifter story of the authors and I'm excited that it is a series. I can't wait for more books.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Luna Linwood & Rex Winter. Rex's brothers all agree that they can't stay in their family home and find their fated mate to break the curse. So they take off for Selkie, not realizing this will change all their lives. Luna has just been dumped her father's wife hates her and has convinced him to move to Florida. She is sure no one really wants her, that is till she gets the letter from the lawyer. Now she is on her way to Selkie and has no idea how much her life will change. Can they figure out what they need to have a HEA or will it be just an illusion?
Another amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
A magical start to this brand new series. The Winter brothers have been cursed, and in an unusual genre twist, they’re only human once a month at full moon. Finding their fated mate has proved nigh on impossible with such a short window of opportunity each month; and the clock is ticking for Thorne, Blake, Rex, Felix, Tate, and Damian
This is Rex , the eldest Winter, and Luna’s story;I love the relationship between these two, and I love the kinship between the brothers; their loyalty and their respect for each other knows no bounds as they embark on their quest to discover their true mates.
An easy to read, fabulous story…I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.
Just love this series. Rex is the elder brother and alpha of the Winter brothers who fell foul of the Snow Witch when she cursed them for stealing a flower to save their mother. Unfortunately their mother died anyway and after 75 years of being in their wolf form except for 24 hours on the full moon they decided to leave their land. They travelled to Fate Island in the far south of Alaska to find their fated mates which is the only thing to break the curse. Rex meets Luna when she travels to the island to take over her grandmother's book shop she inherited. She is also, unknown to her, a witch who helps make the potion to keep the brothers in human form. A family of bear shifters help the brothers until they can keep to their human form to make this a must-read page-turner.
Luna Linwood was up to her neck in debt when a sudden change in her luck opened up new paths for her. Rex Winters and his siblings were under a curse that seemed very difficult to escape, but it seems that there was more than one witch in their destinies. I liked the curse twist in this new series. Luna finds herself in a completely new situation for her where she must learn a lot and quickly. Interesting, intriguing and entertaining scenes, good secondary characters, mystery, romance and passion.
Cursed wolf, winter wolves book 1 Rex and Luna Five wolf brothers suffering under a curse put on them by the Queen witch who lived in the mountains near their home, the young wolves had stolen a flower from her garden hoping it would cure their mother but it hadn’t worked. The witch had cursed them to a lifetime of being unable to change to a man at Will allowing them only to be able to change once a month from dusk until dawn and the curse could only be broken if they found a mate. They were all doomed to die alone. Loved the book, recommended.
Rex and his brothers have been stuck in their wolf forms for over seventy five years, except one day ever month. They were cursed by the Snow Witch! Once Rex has a dream that his mate is in Alaska, they travel there to find her. Luna just found out that her grandmother passed away and left her a store and a apartment in Alaska! She didn't even know that her grandmother had been still alive!! Just another betrayal by her father! When Rex and Luna arrive in Alaska will they find happiness together and be able to break the curse?
First book in the series. This one really sets the scene of who these wolves are and how they got to Selkie Alaska. It is filled with romance and love. Family and friends play a big part in the story but Fate controls it all. Luna makes a big change in her life and takes a chance on Alaska. There she will learn more about who she is and her family. Rex feels the pull to Selkie and his brothers conclude that is where fate wants them. But can they break a curse that has been on them for seventy five years?
I thought this story was going to be like another book that I read based on the write up. It however was not the same. The concept was much different. Trying to break the curse by using potions was new. I found it sad that the lady didn't know she came from a line of witches and never knew she was a witch. I loved the thought of her grandmother talking to her and helping her on the journey. Looking forward to the series.
What a fantastic story filled with delightful characters. I absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend it hoping that others enjoy it as much as I did. Breaking a curse through the love of a true mate seems surreal but Luna believes it can be done. Also being the heir to the strongest witch in the area may help. With potions and love can Rex and Luna be together.
The Author borrowed a wee bit of a fairy tale for our Winter Wolves. It was insta love for our MCs, it was after all a fated mate trope. But it seeks that everything that happened to them was touched by fate from the beginning. This is only the beginning of the story, I wonder what the next stories will reveal.
This was a well written series opener and I loved the idea of only being human on the full moon, rather than the other way around. This made for a very interesting premise, to me. I also liked the secondary characters, the mystery, that twist!, and, of course, the romance ;D I'm looking forward to the next book.
Luna or struggling with the bills at her apartment, she's going though the bills when she comes across a large envelope with a paw print on, it turns out to be from a lawyer with the will from her Grandmother that she has never met. She ends up going to her Grandmother 's shop. Also she meets her mate Red how has been cursed!
Man what a story. And I so love books set in Alaska but throw in a paranormal twist and I'm delighted. Is love luna and her attitude and grandma watching from the great beyond. I am so ready to read book 2.
A great start to a new series. Well written with great characters. This is a quick read that tells the story of brothers who have been cursed for 75 years. I can't wait to see what happens next. I was given an advanced reader copy and I voluntarily leave this review.
The first book in the Winter Wolves series. This is alpha wolf Rex Winter and Luna Linwood's story of suspense, drama, curses, and romance. I want to read the next book. I received a of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Rex & Luna: he was a alpha of his clan but a snow queen has cursed them. She was looking for a fresh start when she heard about her grandmother on her mom sided. The characters will take you on twists and turns through out their journey to find their true mate.
The love that Luna and Rex share is unlike anything else. This story held me captive from beginning to end. I would recommend this love story to any open minded adult.
Great story. I love your shifter books. This was so incredibly interesting. The curse was sad. Luna stepped into a new world after she was kept in the dark about it. The intricate past and future was excellent.
