This is my first story of Warhammer Crime, and I was positively thrilled.

At first. Halfway through, the tunnel vision of the action became tiring, the crispness of the chapters managed to take depth out of everything. The story didn't feel stretched, but for what it's worth there is really just this one get-away interrupted by a few couple of shoot-outs, told across 200 pages.

I couldn't tell if the idea needed a smaller word count or the breadth of a full novel to fully unfold. But I think Robert Rath is cut for this kind of stories and I expect to read more good stuff from him. In any case, it is a very good entry point for the Warhammer Crime franchise.

So crisp and fast. Call it sparkling water. I struggled so hard trying to read any Warhammer 40k book, but Bleedout was fast-paced, colored in just enough of the world to not be bogged down by it but still be a good intro, and was perfect in its scope. A simple story told fast and done well.
