Kissed by Dragon Fire

Rate this book
Have you ever been touched by fire?
I have.
And it kissed me.

Twenty-five-year-old Shula has spent years studying dragons, and now she’s secured a place on her first expedition to track down jadeclaw eggs.

But emerald-coloured eggs aren’t all she finds.

After running for her life to escape a fiery beast intent on incinerating everything in his path, the aircraft sent to rescue her is burnt to ash, bringing her face to face with a breed of dragon that’s supposed to be extinct.

A maykhaw.

Recurring dreams have plagued Shula for years. Once she read about the lost daughter of the Kahli clan, she became obsessed with the tragic tale.

But are her dreams of the black and red dragons just a result of her fascination with the once royal beings, or could they be her memories?

Mother. Author. Wellness Blogger.
Lover of Music. Believer of Romance. Dirty Minded.

LeeSha McCoy is the author of all things African American Romance. She released her first book in 2012 and currently writes African American Urban Romance, Paranormal, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romantic Comedy, and Steamy Contemporary Romance under the pen name Karmen Kane.

With over 40 books published to date, representation is important to her, so you will always find positive representations of black men and women in her books, with a focus on family bonds, growth, and above all, strong fiery heroines and the heroes that love the hell out of them for it.

Writing novels that make her readers 'feel' is her mission; she does not just write stories to be read, but for her readers to experience. As someone who has lived through many up and downs in her personal life, she uses those experiences in all of her stories, priding herself on the realism in her work, regardless of genre.

She began writing in the late 90's, although it was mostly song lyrics she wrote to escape her loneliness. As one of only a handful of bi-racial children living in her small hometown of Banbury, she struggled to make friends and to be accepted, so she spent most of her childhood alone.

She currently lives in England, but her family is spread all across the United States, including the states of Baltimore, Colorado, and Texas.

As a mother to four beautiful children, she spends her spare time playing Roblox and finding new places to walk with them, helping others discover self-love through her wellness blog, binge reading dirty romances, or watching food review shows on YouTube.

2.5 stars. DNF at 51%. Uh. I felt like a lot of stuff was being explained to me, but I was still confused. Maybe I have to finish the book to fully understand, but I will not be doing that.

For a lot of the book I was just confused. I get that I won’t understand all nuances of this world within the first half, but I was having trouble keeping up with all the lore. Maybe the elemental aspect of dragons should have been explained first, then we could learn about each type of dragon.

I don’t mind a instalove story, but I just didn’t believe the chemistry between the characters. It wasn’t there for me. Yeah they said the are obsessed with each other, and yeah they had fits or jealously, but I wish they showed their love for each other in a different way. IDK. For me it felt like a paint by numbers version of “I’m infatuated with you.”

Also… I just wasn’t comfortable reading them having their more intimate moments not inhuman form. But I guess that’s just a preference of mine, and I can’t knock others for not minding it.

Beautiful

Every book I have had the pleasure of reading by LeeSha McCoy has brought pure joy, this is no exception, how her imagination works in every different situation, making a world with dragons completely make sense, it's both relaxing and interesting, I just give in to the story and am taken through her magical world where the possibility of living their best life is fought so hard for.

It is impossible not to get behind the incredibly pure love and kindness she puts into her leads any their supporters, you want to learn about this new world and how they can protect it better than anyone could even dream.

If you want to read about good winning over bad, about how beautiful a sole could be then read every book this incredible young woman has ever written. I also highly recommend the Facebook group, full of lovely fellow ladies as well as the wonderful author, always keeping us in the loop.

I'm always here for black paranormal romance. We need more of it. A book about black people who are also dragon shifters? Sign me up! The story itself was solid. There were grammatical issues, I felt the story dragged at times and the fight with Tymin was lackluster. He was supposed to be this big bad yet was defeated so easily. Yeah I'm going to need Leesha to work on her action scenes some more. The characters were cool. I didn't love anybody. I liked them enough. Masou and Shula made a pretty good power couple. I wish they were fleshed out a bit more though. Also I'm not a fan of characters becoming overpowered really quickly. That's what happened with Shula. She went 25 years not knowing she was a dragon and when she finds out it doesn't take her a long time to master her abilities. This isn't a shounen anime. Let the characters struggle more before they become super strong. Overall it wasn't a bad read. 4½ stars.

I shouldn’t be surprised but I am…

This is not my first read by LeeSha McCoy and her paranormal stories are always A-1. But for some reason I did not jump at the chance to read this story right away and all I can say is shame on me! This was refreshing, interesting, engaging, and so much more❤️. I was hooked from page 1 and I just couldn’t put it down. I love the world she has created and how important the dragons were to the lives of people. The elements, the hierarchy, the backstory 😮‍💨…all wrapped up in a nice-paced stand-alone. I almost wish this was the beginning of series. No one else has made me love dragons as much as this read has. Get it or you’ll be late just like I was 🫶🫶🫶

I thoroughly enjoyed this tale! It encompassed everything I crave: action, drama, and romance. The intricate world-building and the dazzling array of dragons were phenomenal. The love story between the main characters, Masou and Shula, was enchanting. Their journey of mutual support and encouragement was deeply moving and heartfelt. The narrative of their destiny as fated mates and the way they first crossed paths was captivating! This was my first venture into this author’s work, and I can’t wait to explore more of their creations. Give me black leading characters in a Fantasy Romance rich with compelling plots and undeniable chemistry, and I’m completely hooked! This story delivered on every front and so much more!

Shula has always been interested in dragons and has had a recurring dream that leads her to believe maybe there's more to her. Masou has been looking for his mate Shula for 25 years and now that he's found her, he's not letting her go.

This is was a good story! It felt long (in a good way) because we got so much detail and really got to go on this journey with Masou and Shula and I loved it. Seeing Shula come into her own and their relationship blossom was enjoyable. The world the author built around them was rich and interesting.

I thought Shahira would be a bigger issue than she turned out to be. While she was annoying, she never really posed a threat. You could've gotten rid of her and the story wouldn't have missed her to be honest.

Overall, I enjoyed this a lot!

Awesome read!

I was in the mood for a paranormal romance when I searched for books by Leesha McCoy because lately she has been my go to when I want to read a paranormal romance. I noticed she had a new one and I immediately downloaded it. And I’m so glad I did. From the beginning I was immersed in the story and couldn’t wait for everything to unfold. I felt the chemistry between Shula and Masou from the moment they met. The love they had for each other was so strong. If your looking for a story about dragons with love and adventure do not hesitate to download this one.

3.25… This was a very interesting concept and it was an easy read, but man does everything go fast. I felt like we didn’t get to sit with the characters much at all, and their personalities are very similar even though we have both their POVs. What’s also distracting is other POVs thrown in and never returned to. It was just weird. But I wish this had been two books instead of one and that this lore and world creation really given time to breathe because there’s so good stuff here. As always, I love the representation.

Fiery Kiss

This was a great read.Who would've thought that an expedition would lead you to who you truly are. Mase said he waited all these years wasn't anyone getting in his way. I loved how the story flower and how they loved and see protected their people. The could've killed those who had done wrong but they spared them because they were forced and not of their own will or babies and just didn't know any better. But let me tell you how badass they were.

An okay read

I'm sure I've said it before, but my biggest problem with this author's work is editing. The typos constantly take you out of a story that already has too much going on. The premise was interesting ( I love dragons) there was lots of action and magic but the story could have unfolded better. Maybe cut some of the unnecessary details and characters or make the book longer. We don't mind reading extra pages

Beautiful

Okay first we know that this is a work of fiction and do not under any circumstances after reading Ms.Leesha books go chasing after mystical creatures, lions, tigers, bears especially wolves do not approach these animals because you will be torn apart I know these books make you want to find your mate (leave the One You're with)because they're just that good because remember we're all human mostly but on another note this was another Great one

Shula and Masou

Great book! This book reminds the readers, at least me, the Bible. The tribes, the disciples, Jesus. All the elements are there just told in Dragonese language. Noah and the ark taking animals in to preserve for future generations. Each animal had a purpose, much like each dragon. Also it shows how a husband and wife should be so in tuned of one mind, one body…for life. A must read!

Loved it like all the others!

Leesha McCoy can not write a bad book. I was in AWE of this one. It was so entertaining and full of adventure. One of the best dragon books I have read. Shula was a strong woman who learned her birthrifht. And Masou was her knight in shining armor. I loved both of these characters. A great read yet again !!!!

Dragons!

OMG! So glad I came across this book. I have always been fascinated with dragons. However, I never considered them being kin folk. But as dope as they are it makes sense.

Great love story, and I got a whole WORD as well. 🙂

Love the love

I love the positive vibes and love throughout the entire story. I was expecting something bad to happen and didn't realize I have been conditioned to expect the worst for us. We can have happiness and true love too. My mind has elevated to a higher level from this.

This was a very long drawn out book that I was just okay in my opinion. I think that I would have liked it better if it was a lot shorter. Some aspects also didn’t make any sense to me which usually I would point out but I don’t even want to prolong this review pointing them out.
