New and updated how-to guide for anyone interested in attending the United States Air Force Academy. Includes practical advices from hundreds of cadets, graduates, faculty and staff members, and parents on how to navigate the application process and how to survive the challenging first year, plus advice for athletes and a special section for parents.
Something that I truly liked about this book was its ability to focus largely on the ways to prepare oneself for the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), as well as the "morals of the story" that can be applied in environments, that are not necessarily in USAFA. As I aspire to join USAFA for my college years, this book is largely beneficial, as it focuses on the knowledge and preparation that I need to be accepted into the academy.
Throughout this entire book, I could really not find anything that I disliked about the book, as it contained a vast amount of detail, regarding how to not only prepare oneself for USAFA, but it also indirectly hinted at how to prepare oneself for normal college as well.
Concerning who I would recommend this book to, I would recommend it to individuals who aspire to join USAFA (as this is the intended audience of the book), as well as individuals who feel a bit overwhelmed with the process of preparing for college, as this book assists in the overall recognition of the growth needed to enter not only USAFA but a lot of colleges as well.
Not having any family members nor close friends attend a Service Academy, I found this book as the next best thing. It was both eye opening and extremely informative on all aspects of specifically being an Air Force Academy candidate, from the difficult and complex admissions process to the grueling Basic Training and Doolie year. I’d like to say this made me feel better, but in many ways it also made me panic as a parent! :) I would absolutely recommend this as a must read for the candidate, as well as the parent (so they are more informed on the process and Academy life their child is possibly embarking on).
My son is a high school junior and USAFA is his current top pick for college. A friend with a son at USAFA recommended this book for both of us. It is helping him know what to focus on for the application and nomination process and helping me understand the importance of encouraging him but letting him do all the work. Highly recommend for anyone considering the USAFA.
If You Are Even Considering Going To The Air Force Academy, You Have To Read This Book
This is one of the best books for college preparation, and if you think about it make sense. If you are going to go to the air force academy or want to apply, then this book is a gem.
