It’s very relatable and validating for the most part, but it can get pretty disappointing, especially in the third story. If I want to see people balking at the violent act of revenge, I would have read 99.9% of regular novels out there.
I was hoping to read the author’s other books, but changed my mind after the third story. The first two stories only revolves around their female leads, so they have more agency. But as soon as there’s presence of men (in the third story), the female lead becomes much more passive. Unlike her one of male coworkers, she doesn’t get to write anything very violent about their boss, and when a problem arises, it’s her other male colleague who offers the solution. I can see how the author’s other novels would go, especially seeing that a lot of them are straight romance. I’ve had enough of that flavor in other straight romance already, thank you very much.
