Beau Gaines is a man who is self-assured and knows what he wants out of life. He is happy living in Alabama as a mechanic, and has dreams of owning his own shop. He is handsome, sexy, street-smart, wickedly funny, family oriented and doesn't sweat the small stuff. So when cool as a cucumber, Mason Palmer, drives up in his fancy sports car and wearing clothes that cost more than he makes in a year, Beau is amused by the hoity-toity Mason, and sets out to tease him and show him how the other half lives.

Mason Palmer thinks his car has broken down in one of the four corners of Hell. Not only does po-dunk Alabama have only one mechanic, hotel and diner... he will be stuck there for a least a week because they don't have the part to fix his car. Good thing he has a little over a week to attend his mother's 3rd wedding. If it was up to him he would skip it altogether, but Mason always does what is expected of him. How else will he get his families love and acceptance?

Mason is literally overwhelmed by Beau. Beau who is comfortable in his own skin, and has been out of the closet for years...whereas, Mason thinks he can do nothing right, and has given up his own hopes and dreams years ago to pacify his mother.

Beau sees underneath Mason's icy exterior, and vows to get to the smart, shy and sweet man Mason is trying to hide. Beau knows in his heart that he and Mason belong together and sets out to win his heart, and hopefully a happiness they deserve together.

I loved this book! The opposites attract storyline is one of my favorites. Watching Blue Collared Beau and Fifth Avenue Mason find a common ground and discover a very sweet love made this a keeper for me!

This is my first book by Fae Sutherland, and it won't be my last! I really enjoyed watching Mason's character come into his own with the love and support from the the irresistable Beau. If you are offended by a very sweet love story with two handsome heroes this story is not for you.

This was just cute, happy read about two complete opposites who fall into insta-lust/love. It is a very light read with no conflict or angst. Perfect book when you just want a book with a happy ending.

This was Lent through Kindle.

Normally I do not rate shorter HEA books 4 stars. But I have to say this one hit my heart fast and hard. When I was growing up and dreaming about love, this is how it should be: Fast, all-consuming, scary and life altering. You want SO bad for Mason and Beau to be it for each other, you do not care it all happened within a week and you just wanted so bad and within an inch of everything for these two to be in love.

Unrealistic yes, but so wonderful and so yummy!

Kind of like the smooth pick-up artist at the club, this book had all the right lines but just couldn't score. If you want to read a sticky sweet insta-love fairy tale/soap opera, then this is for you.

Overdone plot (car broke down/stuck in hick town), unrealistic actions, etc. Sometimes the writing was done rather well, sweet, but mostly I felt the author was writing for a pre-teen (well, except for the schmexing).

Case in point:

"And I’m going to get married there, to a wonderful young man who’s going to raise babies with me and take me fishing and clutter up our house with car parts and grease stains. And it’s going to be the most beautiful life anyone has ever imagined.”

"And that was when no amount of makeup or plastic surgery could cover or hide the ugliness that lived inside his mother. Her face twisted, though he thought it was just his perception, not actually her expression changing. "

I have read some stellar/more complex books this week, so this book may just be suffering from doesn't-comparatitus, because I really didn't like it.

Man … rating and reviewing this one is tricky … on the one hand, if I'm in a soppy mood, this is the kinda book I want to curl up with … BUT … the majority of the time, this kinda book just gives me the screaming shits … it's like it's been written by the love child of Cameron Dane and Stormy Glenn … Christ on a kangaroo! … who needs 3 pages of 'stretching' and soulful staring into starry eyes???? … not this cynical little duck!!! … anywho, if you're a soppy romantic without a cynical bone in your body, this is going to go straight to your favourites shelf …

I probably should have given this one 3-stars... but, dang it... Beau was just so darn cute... and determined! You gotta respect a man who sees what he wasn't and goes after it! *grin*

OK... when is there too much sex in a story? Obviously, this book found that line and crossed it! It's not that I minded the hot, tender, wet, muddy sex scenes... I just would have liked a bit more "story" with the steamy hot sex! *grin*

I am a sucker for predictable, sweet insta-love stories and of course the mushier the better! It scares me to think that there are actually people out there in this great big wonderful world like Mason's mother... B*TCH!!! But, it was wonderful to meet Beau's family... although, I don't recall actually meeting his mother or grandmother... maybe I just missed that part! Anyways... his daddy was a hoot with the “You hurt my boy and I’ll break yer neck.” I love a HEA and this one came with many possibilities for Mason and Beau's future!

I enjoyed this book. It is a very sweet love story with little angst. It is an insta-love story which I know is a turn off for many people. For some reason it just works in this book (for me at least.) Beau is a mechanic from a small town. He is a free-spirit who enjoys his fun but he also knows exactly what he wants from life. Mason is his exact opposite. He lives a sterile life with little to no fun. He isn't even aware that he has dreams for his life. In the beginning Mason is a bit of a pompous ass but Beau sees the vulnerability in him and sets out to bring joy into his live. I loved both of these characters. Beau is a bit rough around the edges but he is so careful with Mason. Mason has been raised to believe he has little worth. His journey to self-acceptance is touching to witness. The book was almost completely centered on the couple. There is little interaction with other characters. Even with their brief page time Beau's family seemed so accepting. I would have liked to see more of them. Mason's mom however made quite an impact with her the small amount of page time. I've read about worse fictional moms but she is pretty far up there. My only complaint about the book is that the ending seemed a little abrupt to me. There is a full-on HEA but the romantic in me wanted to see a little bit of their life after the "ride off into the sunset" moment. I do love me an epilogue! I recommend this book for anyone who wants a sweet romance and isn't opposed to insta-love stories.

Being a reader who requires a bit of realism in books makes me not a fan of stories that take everything too fast up to those unrealistic outcomes. The idea about a mechanic and a city boy was what first drew me to read it, but other than the funny conversations and a few interesting situations, I can't really say I liked this book. I dare say it was too sweet most of the time without the basics for that sweetness and I couldn't read it without rolling my eyes. It was very difficult to finish it that way. Still, I'm rating it with 3 stars because the pairing was interesting and I had fun while they were actually talking.

I am not one who usually likes near insta-love stories but there was just something special about Mason and Beau. Mason has a ton of baggage stemmimg from his bitch of a mother but Beau is just what he needs to see that sometimes the simple things in life are all you really need. Beau is just about perfect and the way he pulls Mason out of his shell is a perfect mixture of sweet and sexy. This book is worth reading for the mud scene alone...I won't give it away but it was scorching. Mason's mom? Another bitchy mother who needs to die...I hate these women!

Oh god, I love this book.

The beautiful hearted boy Beau teaches the unloved broken city boy Mason that it's possible to love and live life.

The only slight niggle I had was the very abrupt ending. I feel slightly cheated.

Definitely a 5* keeper.

Beau is the classical country boy, and he likes so. He has not dreams to go away, he wants to buy the garage where he is working now, and the big house soon out the town, and build a big loving family like the one he has. If he wanted, he had the chance to go to college, to leave the small town where he was born, but he had a taste of the big city and he didn't find anything there that for him compares to the life he just has. It's quite obvious that Beau has never had something bad happen to him, but well, why we have to make him feel guilty? Lucky him that he can still face the world with so much faith in good things.

Mason is a city boy who is stuck in Dixon, Alabama, since his car decided that it was not made for driving in a country road. The diagnosis is more than a week only to wait for the necessary parts, and then, maybe... It is not that Mason is eager to arrive to destination, witnessing to the five marriage of his mother is not first on his list, but what can he do in Dixon? there is no wireless internet, no special restaurants... but well, there is Beau and his charming question, "Want company?" when he said that he was going to bed...

Beau is like an hurricane, he is always happy and Mason feels guilty everytime he says something nasty that for a moment shut down the light in those eyes: how can you kick a puppy?. And so Mason is starting more and more to avoid to say nasty things, and always agree to every crazy idea Beau brings on... even maybe accept to live in small town Alabama!

It's quite a fairy land the one described in this book, I don't believe that in deep Alabama exists a place like Dixon, where you can be openly gay, accepted by family and folks, you have the chance to have enough experience to know what you like, and you can think to marry another man and adopt children... but it would be nice if it was real. In that small town, Beau can dream, and he can be sure that his dreams will come true sooner or later; he can fall in love in a week, and his love can be mutual. In fairy land, Mason has enough money to not worry to give up to his ordinary city life and move on in a place where even an internet connection is a problem. But well, this is a romance, and finally a romance where everything goes right, where you know that your two heroes will fall in love, and that nothing will intervene between them; and so when the book is leading toward a final very similar to "An Affair to Remember" (the movie), you will know that, in a way or another, there will be an happily ever after.

I am a big fan of this author but I almost took a pass on this book. I actually live in one of the cities mentioned in passing (Mobile, Alabama) and I really have an issue (at times) with the "dumb southerner" stereotype. Folks think that because some of us talk a little slower that we are dumb rednecks or somehow beneath those who live in other parts of the country. I also have a problem with southern speak in books. The last time I commented on the "southern speak" in one of my reviews I got blasted by the author even though I actually gave that book a very good review. Of course in that particular book, the dialogue was more like a gay Hee Haw version of Gone With The Wind so I believe my comments were justified. This one doesn't even come close to that one as far as the dialogue, thankfully. The only real thing I saw in that regard was the spelling of y'all. Other than that, it was done fairly well.

With that being said, I will say that I really did like this book. I think I had more of an issue with everything happening so fast than the stuff mentioned above. Though I don't know many (any) folks down this way who would've quickly (or ever) gotten over Mason's attitude at the first meeting or the way he talked down to Beau. We'd smile our southern smile (lol) and hope like hell we never have to lay eyes on that person again. I can't quite picture anyone I know considering a relationship with a person like that. Other than that, I did actually start liking Mason. A little. Beau is a good, old country boy with a big, loving family. Mason comes from a very cold and unloving family. Mason's car breaks down in Dixon, Alabama on his way from Florida to Michigan to attend his mother's wedding. Beau is the mechanic who will fix Mason's car. That's the beginning. After that, everything happens very, VERY quickly. I'm not that big on insta-love books normally. While I enjoyed this one and the love story was very sweet, it still seemed to be a bit of too much too fast. I totally adored Beau and his family. The story was sweet. The ending was sweet, though a little rushed. There were a couple of moments that had me laughing. But as I said, I had a hard time with Mason from his introduction and if I can't like one of the main characters that much, the rest of the story won't really do it for me.

Good love story. Good book. Just not my favorite by this author.

This is the story about Mason and Beau. Mason is very insecure and quite unhappy, having grown up not really knowing love from his cold selfish mother. Then when his car breaks down in a small town he meets Beau. A care free man who knows how to make the best out of every situation and to go after want he wants. And Beau wants Mason...

This is an insta-love story, but it seems to suit so well with the kind of person that Beau is. He really lives in the moment and grabs the most out of it. Mason has lived a very rigid life without any love and when Beau shows him what life can really be, Mason´s walls start crumbling down.

I really like both Beau and Mason, and I definitely like them as a couple. They are sweet and they are hot! Even though Beau helps Mason realize what life is really all about I am glad that Mason is strong enough to make his own last stand against his bitch of a mother.

I sooo enjoyed reading this book. Mason and Beau were tender and passionate. The dialogue was wonderful and refreshing. It was an eye-opening experience for me. I was able to be a fly on the wall to witness the slow blossoming of this sensual relationship. For a shorter read it held a huge story. Not only did the author make steamy, hot sex scenes spring to life, but also let the reader explore the more intimate side of a gay courtship. I liked the opposite attraction between a city guy and a country guy. Both had great attributes and weaknesses. I recommend this read to anyone who enjoys a sensual romance irregardless of the M/M concept. It is a timeless, loving story for all walks of life.

City boy stock broker meets a younger country boy, garage mechanic when his car breaks down in Alabama. This story brought to mind the movie "Doc Hollywood" when Michael J. Fox had his car break down in the rural south. The yearning for a life with meaning, friends and a companion are the same as in the movie.

Country boy, Beau, knows immediately that he wants to know the "beautiful" Mason much better. They get off to a rough start, but Beau is not afraid to go after what he wants and they quickly hook up. Beau has to work hard to discover the demons that keep Mason from opening up at first, but his love for man wins out in the end. Great story that is hard to put down. Highly recommend and I'll want to read more from this author.

2.5. Hokey and corny for the most part. Heartfelt love declarations complete with plans for a house and kids after 4 days, and many eye rolling, hive inducing moments. I really don't like when authors basically write men as chicks with d*cks, but there were some fun moments. I did like the characters overall, Beau more than Mason, who was a bit too much of a girl. And I loved the conversation between Mason and Beau's dad. The twist at the end was a bit corny too. I skipped most of the sex. This seems to be one of the author's earlier books, The Gladiator's Master is sooooo much better, thank God.

I personally loved this story but then again when done right, I like insta-love though this is really more insta-lust with quickly followed love. It's a bit erratic in a way but written in such a way that it becomes a still moment while everything else rushes by. The fact that the author was even able to portray that in a book leaves me feeling kind of breathless. I loved the characters and found myself slowing down just so I could enjoy them longer. This had angst but more it's about letting go of fear and grabbing onto the chance of love. It's a book I know I'll re-read again and again while wearing a contented smile.

This was cute. I loved the opposites attract thing, but I wanted more from Mason.

I LOVED Beau! His free spirit living was great. I loved his family too, but then again I come from a big family :)

Mason's family? Ummm...NO!

Overall, Country and City were fun :)

Insta-love anyone? You got it.
This was a fairly short book so there wasn't room for too much of a complicated storyline. I didn't miss one. I just enjoyed Beau and Mason together; their intimate moments intense and fulfilling.
This would have been a solid four-star read for me if not for that nagging little voice in the back of my head that I was not able to ignore. The voice that kept reminding me that maybe I just don't believe in love at first sight. Because I sure had a big problem with let's-buy-a-house-together-commitments, frequent use of the L-word and talk of forever between to men who met fours days earlier. That was just... No.

I'm not sure what I was expecting from this story. Maybe I'm just jaded, but how do authors think we believe their characters fall so in love in less than four days that they are willing to give up their current, posh, life and move to small town America to get married and start a family?

Don't get me wrong, I liked the story, I liked the characters, I just disliked the time line.

Beau's insight into Mason's secrets is something we all long for in a partner, I just can't accept the four day time line.

Beautifully written

There is so much sweetness in this story..i enjoyed both characters especially Beau..he was a delight really. This story was passionate and brought together two lonely souls who had no idea it was going to happen.. I loved the pictures their coming together created. I loved how Beau's family's love was unconditional. It is a a wonderfully written fairytale, i didn't want it to end. Great job...Ms. Sutherland

All in all I liked this story, but it became too sweet too quick. I expected the initial conflict between them to make for a harder connection. The attraction was apparent, but the terms of endearment and spending the rest of my life with you happened way too fast. And I am not against insta-love, but this was faster than I expected. Not a bad story though. Would definitely read more by this author.

Very sweet story. It was a bit fairy-tale-like but I had no trouble believing in Mason and Beau's happily ever after. I enjoyed the contracts between Mason's fear and Beau's fearlessness.

The town was also very idyllic but I was able to believe that Mason would fall for that charm and feeling of belonging.

Overall it was a very sweet story of two people finding home and love in unexpected place.

It is actually 4.5 stars...

Only because I wanted a little bit more from the ending... but with that saying, for me this was the best book I'v read from Ms. Sutherland so far... late or not ( I don't really care ) <3 :)

P.S. Regarding my comment on the ending, I just wanted a little more continuation.... I wanted their future story (life)... I really enjoyed these two and I would enjoy more of them.... PLEASE! :)

I liked this city boy/country boy story. Mason is the rich guy whose car breaks down in a small Southern town. Beau is the town mechanic and while at first it appears that they're total opposites as they grow close it turns out they're a perfect match for each other. This entertaining story is a bit too sweet at times and their relationship borders on insta-love but overall I found it enjoyable.

Ok, This book is like sugar over caramel, over maple syrup, over honey, over chocolate.

And I like it, the conflicts inside Mason resolve a little too quickly for me but i guess that's part of the magic of the book, the characters are likable, and everything goes smooth, an easy happy read that will cheer you up whenever you have a crap day.

I've read this story so many times. Fae Sutherland is one of the authors that made the m/m genre what it has become, and her stories are the type that I can return when I get weary from stories that are unsatisfying. Fae does amazing characterization, coupled with sensual tension and a darn good plot.
