The book aims to help you have better relationships with your loved ones, including relatives through using example converstaions witha fictional "sister" where you come away disgruntled and detailing what you could have said, or how you could rephrase things to hopefully lead to better outcome. The writer also discusses why certain phrases or topics of conversations from particular loved ones can "trigger" us. It was an easy enough read as I paced myself with it, dipping into it for a chapter at a time over several weeks. I would have felt rather overwhelmed if I'd tried to read it in one stretch. The advice could well be applied to work and social situations. I'm not usually a big fan of the fictional but could be real conversation approach ( I've come across it in a lot of romantic and work relationship self help books) as it never quite hits the spot as conversations never follow such a logical flow but the writer gives enough more general advice that could be helpful.

I took a while working through this book and it was worthwhile. I enjoyed working through it, it was well written but I think it could be laid out a little better be this in your personal life or at work.
I believe everyone can work through this and work on their relationships with others.

The book has some parts the relation with family, friends, work partner and someone in relationship. Then how to use 4 skills in relations. I enjoyed to read this book in first until third chapters

This book offers a great introduction to communicating better in various relationships - from friendships to family issues and even one-off conversations.

I was largely interested in the business/workplace relationships section but found myself avidly reading the other chapters and considering the guidance given by the author in my day to day interactions.

Reminding myself to pause and mentalise really helped with having better days and calmer communication.
