I was so excited to read this book because of the premise of a mother hooking up with her daughter’s climbing coach. The first couple of chapters were cute and setting the stage nicely, but then the author kind of stumbled a little bit in my opinion, with the amount of time that passed between when our two main characters first meet, and then when they finally start flirting and talking and so forth.
I felt too much time had passed and unnecessarily so. It was kind of cute how he went about getting her number and then started texting her but I feel like that probably could’ve been done in less creepy way if they just had better interactions there at the gym. Now the sex scenes were hot and the two characters were really cute together, especially with the drama from her ex-husband and him being there to protect her.
But I did think that things were rushed a little bit too much especially how their very first conversation via text, he starts calling her babe and then they’re constantly calling each other babe or baby. It just didn’t feel quite as organic. It felt a little stilted. What I did appreciate was the accurate depiction of his maturity level compared to her as a single mother. When they had their third act break up, he responded by getting totally drunk and things escalated from there. When you think about his bachelor pad, the guy has some serious growing to do.
But again the characters had chemistry, and their sex scenes were really great. I’m starting the sequel immediately.

I wanted to love this book. Great premise, just didn't feel it and I just didn't feel a connection with these two. Too repetitive and boring. The best of the story was the last 10%. Almost a DNF but stuck it out.
An emotional and beautiful story this first half of the duology really laid the groundwork for what is guaranteed to be an awesome finale. I can't wait to read it
