Finding A Hero

Rate this book
He knew how hard it was to follow in his brother’s footsteps.

Joseph Newman may have followed in his older brother into the military and now into a law-enforcement career, but that’s where they were different. Wyatt was a police chief, serious, now married, and someone the community looked up to. Joseph enjoyed a beer with friends, loved a good joke, and didn’t mind playing the field. Until he met her… the shy woman who barely spoke. And something told him, she needed a hero. But was he the man for the job?

She knew how hard it was to break away from family.

Shiloh Wallen, the newest waitress at the Seafood Shack, worked hard, kept to herself, just happy to have a job that afforded her the independence she’d never had. All she wanted was to feel normal while flying under the radar so her family couldn’t find her. But the smiles of the handsome Joseph always made her feel special even if she knew he gave them freely to everyone. But he was law enforcement… someone she couldn’t have.

When her past comes back to haunt her, he wants to be the hero she needs. But maybe, she’ll also find that a hero lies inside of her, as well.

A Baytown Boys sub-series.
Keeping the waterways of the Eastern Shore of Virginia safe, follow along as they find love. Small town romantic suspense.

As an Award Winning and International Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Best Selling Author, I have always been an avid reader. I joke that I "cut my romance teeth" on the old historical romance books. I’ve written as a hobby for over 30 years. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma's Home was created.

My first novel, Emma's Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love's Series. From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series.

My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex; mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with.
I worked as a counselor in a high school and have been involved in education for the past 30 years. I recently retired and now can spend more time devoted to my writing.

I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 35 years and have 2 adult, very supportive daughters.
When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!

I’m swooning and this time for the heroine of the story!!
Shiloh and her niece Rachel are all that is left of their family. It’s up to Shiloh to find a way to keep Rachel safe. They leave behind everything familiar to start a new life in Baytown on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

“…she’d come to learn that we are all heroes. When we take a stand. When we fight. When we protect. When we’re afraid but push through those fears. When we become what we were meant to be.”

Joseph grew up in Baytown and after serving in the military he returns to start a career with the Virginia Marine Police. He isn’t interested in more than no strings attached relationships until he lays eyes on the new waitress at the Seafood Shack and tries to get to know her.

“…she could feel the strength and courage that made up everything Joseph was, everything she needed, everything she’d never had.”

I absolutely loved this small town, romantic suspense story with a heroine who despite fear, braves the unknown and does everything in her power to provide a good life for herself and her niece.

Another heartfelt story by Maryann Jordan. This book starts out differently than others by this author and I was not sure I was going to like it. But, as usual I was pulled in and couldn’t stop. Through the smiles, tears, and suspense to a happy ending. I definitely recommend.

I absolutely loved this story and really hated when I finished it. It I fell in love with both Joseph and Shiloh, their pasts were similar but also different. It was a true love story with a bit of suspense, and yes a HEA. 5 stars really isn't enough, and I do highly recommend it.

Great story!

Shiloh and Joseph were an unexpected but beautiful couple. On the face of it they seem like an odd pairing but together they are pure perfection. Jack and Rachel were a sweet bonus. I don't want to spoil anything because this is a book that needs to be read so just pick it up and enjoy this lovely story.

I've never met a Baytown character that I didn't like. I would not hesitate to become friends with each and everyone. Maryann Jordan excels at small town romance and happily ever afters. Finding A hero reminds us that heroes come in all ages, shapes and sizes and they don't have to perform jaw dropping or dangerous deeds to be a hero. Sometimes it's just doing what's right or having the courage to stand up for your convictions or defending friend or classmate who's being billied. Baytown is made up of all types of heroes who, when danger comes calling, do what they do best. They work together to ensure that those endangered are protected and feel welcomed as part of their family.

I flat out adored Shiloh and Joseph's love story. It was absolutely charming, and uplifting. Having both of their backstories really gave so much context to the way their relationship evolved. Joseph is charming, a protector and a man who values family. Doing the right thing comes naturally to him because he had great role models growing up. Shiloh is resilient, resourceful, determined and courageous. She takes the plans formulated by her dead husband, expands on them and implements them when a threat becomes all too real. Ending up in Baytown gives her and her niece, Rachel, a new lease on life. All it takes is one look at Shiloh and Joseph is hooked but she makes him work for her favor. He's definitely up for the job no matter how long it takes. He succeeds in winning her over and making Rachel feel both wanted and welcome in the new relationship. When the past comes calling, Joseph marshals law enforcement and along with quick think on Shiloh's part, the threat is neutralized.

Finding a Hero

What can I say MaryAnn has outdone herself with this one. This one begins with a backstory on Joseph and Shiloh’s lives. This sets the stage for how Shiloh and her niece Rachel end up in Baytown. Shiloh and Rachel have escaped a very difficult situation and have found a community that is welcoming to the two. Joseph left Baytown for the Navy and after 12 years has decided it is time to come home. He sees the shy Shiloh and realizes they share a connection but it takes both of them to realize that they may have both found a hero. Many of our other Baytown and surrounding area friends make appearances which also I ncludes their children. Rachel has her share of issues but finds a protector also, just as Joseph watches over Shiloh. Shiloh shares her story with Joseph, just as he shares his which is not as dire as hers but he wants to protect her and Rachel. When things look like they will all work out for everyone, 2 other things happen that will have you realizing that there is not just one hero in this book but many heroes for are friends in Baytown. You will definitely enjoy the ending of Finding a Hero. Keep tissues for the last chapter you’ll need them.

I was given an ARC copy for my honest opinion.

Joseph knew he was a protector and that true love was real, he’d seen it in his family and longed for it himself. Shiloh came from a totally different background, she’d been held back from living her life and when she and her niece Rachel, were threatened she reached deep inside to take all her courage and escape. She found herself with her niece in Baytown for the first time able to live as they wanted. Joseph recognised Shiloh was who he longed for pretty early but it took a while to convince her. Rachel was also learning to live with freedom and to make friends. Unfortunately Shiloh and Rachel’s past won’t lie down nor is life in Baytown perfect.
Sometimes you have to be your own hero and Shiloh and Rachel both learn this.
I loved this book, it is a great story with beautifully written characters, I received it as an arc in return for an honest review Highly recommended.

It left me an emotional wreck...but I cannot wait for the next book!

I literally sobbed throughout this book, tears of frustration at the school bullies that made Joseph's childhood hell. Tears for the trauma and heartbreak Shiloh and Rachel suffered, tears of relief when they escaped. Tears for the welcome and love that Baytown extend to them (not that we are surprised). Tears of anger that they are in danger again and finally tears of happiness as they finally find their HEA....so lots of tissues required, but you will fall in love with Joseph, Shiloh and Rachel quickly as they are all fantastic characters.

This is truly a wonderful book!
It captivates & intrigues you
from the first page to the last.
Great characters, storyline
& small town charm.
The community that Shiloh
& Rachel lived had changed drastically,
after a terrible accident occurred,
changing so many lives.
Now their safety is threatened.
Joseph, was home after having
served in the Navy. It's where he wanted
to be. But what was he next step in life.
It's a feel-good, moving & suspenseful romance.
Did not want it to end!

This is one of those beautiful stories that will stay with you…
Joseph Newman has come home to Baytown after his commitment in the military has ended to start a new job in law enforcement. But he’s restless and searching for something he just isn’t sure what until he meets a beautiful woman with haunted blue grey eyes. The protector in him wants to wrap his arms around her and hold her close. But she’s shy, scared, and different from any woman he’s ever met. He wants more than just one night. A lifetime would be perfect…

Shiloh Wallen and her niece Rachel came to Baytown for a new life. Scared and running from one that was once peaceful and loving but now is dark and scary. Baytown is a place she’s always dreamed of. Now she and Rachel have a real home. Shiloh has a job she loves. She really doesn’t need anything else. Until she meets Joseph. He’s gorgeous, sweet and his smile makes her feel things she’s never felt before.
When her past threatens her future can she trust Joseph to stand beside her? But most of all can she trust him with her heart?
I loved that all of the Baytown heroes popped in and out of this beautiful story! The ending was also perfect!

Joseph and Shiloh. What a great couple. Joseph was the man that Shiloh needed. These two seem so different, yet their values are the same. I loved the kids in this story as well. Lots of action and great family dynamics.

I really enjoy the writing. The characters are flawed and have dimension. The story is intriguing and I care about these people finding happiness. Well, I did when Joseph was an 18 year old. I'm not sure I like adult Jo-Jo.

*** SPOILER FILLED RANT BELOW ***

I'm just waiting for the day we start slut-shaming MMC for being manwhores. Joseph was a sweet kid who had his heart broken so he spends 14 years being a manho. Surface stuff and all women fall at his feet. Shilo was raised in a cult and even though she was married for 10 years, she is an innocent.

So he is intrigued. Why? Because she's not like other girls. She doesn't fall for his charms or try to worm her way into his bed. Basically, she's NOT LIKE HIM. Does he not see the hypocrisy of wanting a girl just because she has actual standards for herself? The question is have is: why should she fall for him when he is LITERALLY LIKE EVER OTHER PLAYER OUT THERE?? Once upon a time, he had actual character depth. But he's spent the last third of his life fucking around and not caring about women. And it's not my interpretation. That's how he describes himself. How his mother and brother describe him. Hell, the WHOLE TOWN sees him this way, including the women he beds. He takes the easy women and doesn't care about them after (just look how he treats the "slutty" waitress who made the error of being easy to bed and *gasp* looking for a repeat).

Just not buying that suddenly his hand tingles when he touches her and... he's cured!! Will suddenly flip the switch that allows him to develop feelings about the pussy... erm, I mean Lady he makes love to.

And I'm supposed to believe that once he gets into her chastity belt that he will (having never done this as an adult male) know how to put in the effort that are required of real relationships and not go back to his easygoing ways???? Not likely. He's gonna hump and dump. Except this is fiction so instead they'll get an unbelievable HEA and epilogue, I'm sure.

I loved Joseph as a child. That's the only reason I haven't dnf this yet. I want THAT guy to get a sweet girl for his HEA. If I skip all the parts where he reminds us that he has been an emotional-black-hole-but-its-okay-cause-those-women-werent-worthy A-hole for 14 years then maybe I can convince myself he didn't allow his HIGH SCHOOL GIRLFRIEND CHEATING to change his whole personality. Or, better yet, that was his personality all along and he finally had an excuse to treat women like trash. I mean, they wore revealing clothing and makeup so they deserved it amiright?

I have one message to all the innocent girls out there who think they're gonna be the one to make a manwhore repent... WHEN HE SHOWS YOU WHO HE IS, LISTEN.

I didn't like how we saw how easy it was for him to go home with a ons. They haven't met yet but don't like seeing it. That ons comes back to cause problems and there was too much talk about his past lifestyle and how she wasn't like the girls he would usually go for. I wanted different for her.

Finding A Hero is the second installment of the Baytown Heroes and is the story of Joseph and Shiloh. We have met Joseph in previous stories and he has the ‘good time guy/flirty and fun guy’ persona and in this story we learn that there is way more to him than meets the eye. Shiloh is like no one I have ever read about before and her story is heartbreaking yet hopeful too. I consider myself a Maryann Jordan ‘super reader’ and she has never given us a heroine like this one. I just LOVED peeling back all of her layers, as with Joseph, she is far more than meets the eye. While these two don’t seem like they would fit, they just do.

The book begins with a good portion of the story dedicated to both of the pasts of our main characters and it shows us how they have become who they are today. I really loved the background laid out like this. The background also shows how Shiloh ends up raising her niece, Rachel.

The past that Shiloh and Rachel escape from and how they end up in the wonderful community of Baytown is crazy! Learning about the dangerous situation that they escape really brings out Joseph’s protective side, though Shiloh has done an amazing job getting them to their new home and keeping them safe. Meeting new friends and developing a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Joseph is incredibly empowering for Shiloh. And for Joseph, seeing her honesty and unwillingness to deal with his flirty persona forces him to get ‘real’ with her and himself. With Shiloh’s encouragement we see Joseph really grow and mature into an incredible man and with Joseph’s encouragement, we see Shiloh simply blossom and fully embrace her new life. Their deep friendship is enhanced with a very strong chemistry that surprises them both and enables them to realize how special each other is.

One of my favorite relationships is Joseph and Rachel. It is sweet and heartfelt. Watching him include her and love her is just beautiful! The bonus story of Rachel and Jack was a surprise and as beautiful as Joseph and Shiloh’s story. (And that epilogue? Might have needed a tissue!)

Finding a Hero isn’t just a story about one hero, it is the story of many heroes. We see that heroes can come in many shapes and sizes. It is always great to catch up with old Baytown friends too. This is a story with great characters, a great storyline with suspense and intrigue and the charm of Baytown. I look forward to the next Baytown Hero, though it will be tough to top this one!

This is book two in The Baytown Heroes Series and it is Joseph and Shiloh's story and omg it is definitely a must read. Shiloh and her niece Rachel grew up in a community that was filled with light and love only for a new leader to take over filling everyone with dread, fear and darkness and after all the people that they loved died Shiloh realised that she needed to take her niece Rachel and leave but she would have to be very careful with the plans that she had put in place because now they were both in danger and leaving was the only solution for them. Joseph is now back home in Baytown after serving twelve year's in the navy and his new job now that he has qualified is to join The Virginia Marine Police and he was looking forward to not only being home but also the next phase in his life. When Joseph and Shiloh meet he knew that she was so different from any other woman that he had met and he wanted to get to know her but when he asked her out on a date she turned him down because of his reputation with the ladies but Joseph knew that this time everything was different and he would have to be patient. When Joseph and Shiloh eventually started seeing each other is was so beautiful to watch Shiloh grow into a different woman but still keep true to herself and even with all the insecurities they were absolutely perfect for each other and when Shiloh's past comes crashing back into her and Rachel's life Joseph is determined to not only keep them both safe but also eliminate the threat with the help of his friend's regardless of the situation. Shiloh and Rachel had gone through so much heartache and loss after everyone in there family had died leaving just the two of them but they were so strong, caring and determined to move forward with there new lives and the friend's that surrounded and supported them and what a beautiful bonus of having Rachel and Jack entwined into the story. This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and I was in tears reading of everything that they had gone through and coming through it all stronger than ever and I couldn't put this book down and had to keep turning the pages wondering what would happen next and what the outcome would be for them all and I absolutely loved the ending. Maryann Jordan is an amazing author and writer and the depth of her story's are what makes you go back time and time again to read her book's and I can't wait to read more in the future.

I Voluntarily Reviewed a Copy of This Book.

Finding a Hero is a fantastic story.
Each of the characters holds their own strength but in some ways they both become each other’s hero.
Shiloh is the strongest female character Maryann Jordan has ever written. She grew up in a community in the mountains of Pennsylvania, life was simple and even though she dreamed of the ocean she was content until years later after the death of her parents and sister and then later her husband all in tragic accidents she takes her niece Rachel and leaves in the middle of the night, things had changed once the new minister had taken over. Landing in Baytown to work as a maid for Tori at the inn, at first she feels out of place but with her inner strength and the friendship of the Baytown girls she really starts to bloom and even has an admirer.
Joseph grew up in Baytown for a little bit his family went through some lean times and suffering with a stutter he learned to make people laugh, then when his first girlfriend breaks his heart right before he leaves for the navy he again learns a lesson and becomes the love and leave them type. After his navy stint he returns home to join the Baytown Station of the Virginia Marine Police. He still flirts, it’s second nature to him him but when a woman catches his eye and his flirting doesn’t work he’ll have find the real sincere Joseph that’s in there.
Now there’s Rachel, Shiloh’s niece, she’s even a hero…
This book is so heart touching you can’t help but love every word and every character.
And the epilogue….it’s heart melting…

Finding a Hero is the second book in the Baytown Heroes series. This is Joseph and Shiloh's story, one of the most beautiful romances I've ever had. Joseph, recently separated from the military, comes home to Baytown and goes to work for the VMP (Virginia Marine Police). Shiloh is from a closed community in PA that was once a wonderful place for people to step back from modern life, live off the land, etc. but now has turned into a cult by Isaiah, the current leader who has forced his beliefs and behaviors on the members. Threatened by Isaiah, Shiloh and her niece escape to Baytown and begin new lives, hoping they can leave their old ones behind.

When Joseph and Shiloh meet, he tries his best to get her attention with his usual moves, but it doesn't go over well. Sure, she's attracted to him, but with her background and experiences, I can imagine it was just too much and she avoids him. To his credit, Joseph recognizes that she's special and changes his approach, letting Shiloh know that he wants to get to know the real her at her pace.

Watching Shiloh and her niece Rachel blossom in their new life is a beautiful thing to read along with her relationship with Joseph. However, Isaiah was always in the back of my mind and I kept waiting for him to pop up. When he does, Joseph goes above and beyond, showing the wonderful man that he is.

Maryann Jordan did a fabulous job of interweaving the romance and suspense in this novel. The epilogue was just everything. You don't want to miss this book. 5 stars!!

Finding a Hero is the second book in the Baytown Heroes series by Maryann Jordan. If you're in the mood for a charming blend of small-town romance and suspense, then Baytown Heroes is the binge you’ve been looking for. Set along the beautiful waterways of Virginia’s Eastern Shore, this 12-book series follows the lives of the Virginia Marine Police and the North Heron Sheriff’s Department as they juggle crime-fighting, family, friendship, and love.
Each book focuses on a different hero - whether it’s a single dad, a detective, or a long-time friend - finding love under stressful, often life-threatening circumstances. The characters are relatable, their chemistry believable, and despite being “heroes” they’re flawed enough to feel real. From high school crushes rekindled to second-chance romances and unexpected sparks, there’s a story for virtually every kind of (contemporary) romance fan.
The series hits that perfect spot between romance and suspense. There are moments of tension and danger that kept me on edge, but they’re balanced with warmth, humor, and small-town charm. Ms. Jordan’s writing is quite engaging, making the books easy to devour.
So, if you love swoon-worthy heroes, strong heroines, and a little edge-of-your-seat suspense, then the Baytown Heroes series is a seriously fun ride.
Happy Reading…

A woman on the run. A man blindsided by something different.
Shiloh and her niece come to Baytown hoping to find a newer, safer life and of course the people of the small eastern shore community welcome them with open arms. Joseph comes home to Baytown after serving in the Navy and throws himself into his new job with the Virginia Marine Police. He goes on with his day to day until a pair of blue-grey eyes stops him in his tracks. Never having had a reaction to a woman like that before, he's stunned but knows he'll never be the same. Determined to get to know the shy Shiloh, he sets out to get her to see the real him and not the happy-go-lucky persona he shows to the world. As they grow closer, their pasts come out and Joseph vows to do everything in his power to protect Shiloh and her niece.
Joseph turns out to be a surprise. He starts out as a player. But with Shiloh, we see the real him. There is a moment of vulnerability in him the first time they are together that is an amazing surprise. The man with all the experience is suddenly nervous and unsure and the woman with little to no experience comforts and assures him. It's a sweet scene that sets the tone for the strength and love these two characters portray. Another excellent match for the Baytown Heroes.

Holy smokes this book had all the feels and not just one story but a love connection going on in the background that by the end and the epilogue….I was a puddle in both tears and melting with the second HEA. No spoilers on who it’s about but it was so perfectly integrated and woven into the story…a MUST READ.
Joseph and Shiloh, what a couple and the strength and bravery of Shiloh and her niece Rachel, will have you wanting to wrap them up in cotton and protect them but they don’t need that, they are strong on their own and together, they can accomplish anything. Moving to a small own, starting over, meeting new friends and with Shiloh a new love interest. Joseph shows Shiloh all that he is and also proves to her that tingles do exist in a relationship. These two with Rachel, a complete family that makes all they went through…worth it.
What a read with steam, suspense, love connections, some tearful moments, and amazing characters I didn’t want to stop reading about….worth more than 5 stars and my favourite from this author to date.

Any time I want to read something that I know will leave me feeling good, I know I can reach for something by Maryanne. This one definitely hit all my feels and I finished it wiping feel-good tears away. The story revolves around a young woman, Shiloh, who has escaped from a cult with her young niece Rachel She ends up in a close knit community on the Chesapeake Bay shores called Baytown. After allowing herself to make a few close lady friends she attracts the attention of Joseph, who has returned to Baytown at the end of his military commitment. Nervous about others reaction to her growing up in a cult, she keeps her and her nieces past a secret until she learns the cult leader she thought she escaped from has found them. Finally placing her trust in Joseph, and the new friends she has made in town, they finally put the cult leader and his followers behind bars where they belong. The detailed epilogue detailing the next 10+ years for Shiloh, Rachel, and Joseph had me in tears seeing that the girls had truly found a place to call home among the friends they have learned to trust.

Beautiful trip into Baytown

This is one of my favorite series. I love everything about Baytown, the American Legion connection and obviously the military. This is Joseph's story, we had already met him in earlier books, he is Wyatt's brother.
Shiloh has a, we'll say different upbringing, but she arrives in Baytown with her neice Rachel to escape a cult like situation. They came from a small community that had limited technology so it was an adjustment.
I loved this sweet story of Shiloh comes into her own. I loved how Joeeph didn't give up and just kept trying to get her to go out with him. I also loved reading about Rachel also getting acclimated to life in HS after home school. I thought that was a cool part of the story.
I always enjoy Ms Jordan's attention to detail, making you feel a part of the story. I love how she brings the American Legion and the work they do in the communities.
I also enjoy the intrigue part of the story. I am always wondering who's doing what to who and why. This was a fantastic story! Enjoy!

Shiloh has lived a restricted existence in the confines of her rural community. She’s been happy with her lot even if it wasn’t what she envisioned for her life. However, now it’s time for big change. No way is she going to allow the dictates of one man destroy her only living relative, her niece. So on a bus to Bay Town it is.
Joseph has always lived in the shadow of his big brother. It’s not a bad shadow, as Wyatt is one of the best men he knows. Now his time in the military is over he’s come home to join the VMP. After being hurt by a girlfriend when he was younger, he’s got no plans to settle down. Playing the field is just fine. Then he meets Shiloh.
I loved how Maryann brought these two slowly together. This for me was a, can’t put it down till the end book, and I think one of the authors best ones. Seeing Shiloh’s confidence grow, and her realisation that she’s strong enough to be her own hero, as well as Joseph’s development from brash playboy to supportive partner was just perfect.

Joseph Newman enjoyed his time in the military but he felt he wanted something more. Once he became a civilian, he knew he wanted to be in some sort of law enforcement like his brother and friends. What he didn’t expect was how he felt when he met Shiloh Wallen. A woman with haunted eyes.
Shiloh and her niece have escaped the life they knew. One that was once satisfying but after so many deaths close to them, and a new leader more interested in himself, Shiloh knew she needed to make a new life.
Baytown has been good for them and meeting Joseph has stirred feelings she never experienced. But the idyllic life is endangered when the past shows up with no good intentions. Will good overcome the evil? Will Joseph, Shiloh and Rachel get the happiness they deserve?
In this latest story the hero is not one person, but a number of individuals whom you will come to love.
Another winner by this talented author.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

We return to Baytown for the second installment of Ms. Jordan's Baytown Heroes series. This book features Joseph who is Wyatt's younger brother. Joseph had his heart broken a long time ago and he closed himself off from finding love again, preferring one-night stands and no repeat performances. He watched as his brother and friends all had loving relationships he was sure he didn't want. Enter Shiloh and her niece and all bets are off.

This story will tug at your heartstrings and bring a tear or two to your eyes. Ms. Jordan creates wonderful female characters who have an inner strength to overcome the obstacles they face. These women find their heroes in the strong, loving men of Baytown. Ms. Jordarn's stories make me feel as though I am right there in Baytown with a front-row seat for all of the action, drama, and love she pours into her stories. I can't wait to go back to Baytown again.

This second book in the Baytown Heroes series is heartfelt and delightful. On the face of it Joseph and Shiloh are an unlikely couple but it turns out they are perfect for each other and their story is charming and heart-warming. The book starts with their backstories giving insight into what shaped them into the people they are now. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes and each with different stories, they are rarely perfect but whatever their faults they are innate protectors, stand for what is right and have a core of integrity. Charming Joseph is struck by Shiloh from the moment he first sets eyes on her and is determined to win her over but reserved Shiloh is no easy conquest. She may be reserved but Shiloh is strong and resilient and determined to make a good life for her niece Rachel in Baytown free from the dark overtones of their past life. When it turns out the past hasn't quite finished with them can Shiloh's hero keep her safe so they can enjoy the future they deserve.
Wonderful slow burn small town love story that will make you smile and the added bonus of a second love story intertwined. Definitely a recommended read.
I received an arc from the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

It’s wonderful returning to Baytown. This book is Joseph and Shiloh’s story. Shiloh is such a strong person and she doesn’t realise it. She just gets on with it and does what needs to be done. For me Shiloh is the true hero in this story. Joseph hides behind his fun guy persona because he’s been hurt in the past. This all changes when he meets Shiloh, he really likes her and has to work incredibly hard to get her to give him the time of the day, he has to learn how to romance and woo Shiloh. I also loved the budding romance between Rachel and Jack. In typical Maryann Jordan style, there’s lots of tension, romance and excitement. Just when you think it’s all over you are treated to even more excitement. I also love the epilogue. It’s absolutely wonderful learning what happened to all the characters. All in all this is a wonderful book. I received this book from the author. I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Finding a hero

I finished this book a week ago but have been unable to find the words to truly express my review!

This is a story that is completely different from the start…it grabs your imagination from the very first paragraph!

It’s a story of not just a hero and heroine but a whole book of them.. from past to present ( those who have read it will understand)!

Shiloh and Joseph show us about love and loss, faith and patience, taking a step back to protect others but also finding the strength to move forward in ways you never thought possible!
It’s about realising love comes in all forms and the acceptance of that. Its new beginnings and old friends.
Its dramatic, heartfelt and inspiring… I loved each word written on the page.

Then the epilogue… great the tissues is all I can say it absolutely mage my heart sing!!

Maryann there are no words, thank you for your craft and the ARC.💞

Another fabulous book from Maryann Jordan.

I was hooked from the very beginning. Following through Shiloh's and Joseph's challenges allows us to see them grow through the years. Running to save both herself and her niece, Shiloh ends up in the beautiful Baytown community.

Joseph has faced his own challenges in life. After spending time in the Navy, he is ready to return home and continue serving in his community.

Running into each other in the community, they gradually get to know one another. Their story is sweet and unique. They have the support of their community, and, as with so many other of these stories, the community rallies in times of trouble.

This book was wonderful because of Shiloh's and Joseph's love story, but even more so because we get to check in with so many other members of the Baytown community. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series.
