Not all love stories have happy endings. Some are destined to crash and burn.
Growing up, I was the youngest member of my family. Sheltered and protected by my older brother and his friends. Always on the outside looking in. College was supposed to be my chance for a fresh start. My opportunity to figure out who I am and what I want.
I thought I knew what I wanted until he charged back into my life and changed the game.
Cooper Sinclair was my brother’s best friend long before he became my stepbrother. A navy SEAL who’s owned my heart since the day we met. Loving him was easy. But time was never on our side, and stolen moments only last so long.
Are we worth the risk, or will we both go down in flames?
Worth the Risk is a beautiful story set in the universe Bella Matthews created. This is my first book by Bella and it was in one part okay to jump into it. And another part really misses the depth I would have had if I read all the other books set in this universe. This book has a lot of couples in it besides the main couple. And it was a bit messy with who belongs to who and everybody got pregnant. I would have preferred a note before we started the book which would have explained it's a series in a broader universe. And therefore not a complete standalone.
But apart from that I really enjoyed this story. In this book we follow Carys and Cooper. Carys has loved Cooper from afar for years and years. Always comparing anybody in her love life to him, and everyone else always paled compared to him.
Cooper is a Navy Seal and he comes home with his squad. He is in a bar where Carys is filling in as the lead singer for a band who's lead singer left them abruptly. His entire squad seems to fall in love with her and jealousy overcomes him.
They both are drawn to the other one, lust after the other one. The book is a bit of a slow burn at the start. They first get to know each other again and are scared to take the next step. But once they do, passion ignites. Carys really is obsessed with keeping the relationship secret and that is what this book is about.
How do you navigate a relationship when only a few know about it? How do you follow your passion and dreams? And how does a relationship work with a dedicated Navy Seal who is always gone from home?
It's a beautiful love story. But I don't always understood or got Carys action's. She is extremely insecure and gives in to her insecurities all the time. The latter part of the book dragged a bit because of that. And that was really a shame. It was constantly the same thought process repeated again and again. I wish we could have gotten more insights or more understanding as to why they did what they did.
But apart from that I still really enjoyed the story. And the cliffhanger really surprised me. I didn't see that coming! And I am dying to know why that happened and how the situation got there. So I am definitely diving straight into the second book in this series!
3.5 big stars from me for this enjoyable love story!
Omg, this book ripped my fucking heart to pieces. I am dead. I've been wanting an emotional read, but my heart is literally ACHING from the pain. There's no way the ending is what I think it is, right? I refuse to accept it. That's not how their journey can go. And all the other pain filled fuckery that happens?! WHO HURT YOU, BELLA?!
To start, this has to of my favorite tropes in one: brothers best friend and stepbrother. So you know right away this forbidden romance is going to be epiiiic, and then you have them being SEALS too? Oh goodness yes please.
Carys has been in love with her brothers best friend turned step brother for years, and she always thought it was unrequited and she would have to just get over her feelings since there's no way he would ever feel the same. But when Cooper is on leave and sees the wonderful and confident woman she's become, he can't stay away. And he'll stop at nothing to keep them together, despite all the odds in their way.
I love Carys, but I really wanted to shake her at times. I GET her reasoning and my heart broke for her and how isolated she felt from everyone, but I hated how she was breaking both herself and Coop. Like I said I get it, but her realizing what a fool she's been and for THAT to happen? I shed all the tears.
As for Cooper, omg, he's my new book husband. He's so romantic and swoony and sensitive and strong and loves Carys with everything in him. The fierce way he loved her brought tears to my eyes on multiple occasions. My heart just broke for him for all he's gone through already, and you know it's going to be a hell of a journey to get him back to where he needs to be. Omg, this is such an epic romance.
As for the chemistry and their connection? OUT OF THIS WORLD. The way they would always need to be touching, the way he called her baby, the HEAT between them. Good golly miss Molly, I cannot give this book enough praise.
There's so much I want to say, but I refuse to spoil anything. But I need part two like I need my next breath. Think I can bargain with Bella? Lmao
If you read any duet this year, read this one! Make sure to have your trusted vibe and tissues on hand though. For very different reasons. *winks*
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions**
…logic tells me that he’ll never look at me the way I’ve always wished he would. But logic has nothing on what my heart wants.
Carys and Cooper take us on an emotional journey of long term longing turned into secret love. Carys has had feelings for Cooper since she met him as her brother’s friend. Once he became her step-brother, when their parents married, she knew she had to keep her feelings to herself. That didn’t mean the feelings went away, and when they meet up one evening by chance, away from the one’s who know they shouldn’t be together, Carys finds out that her long hidden feelings may not be so one sided.
I think this story should definitely be experienced by reading it, so I’m only going to say a few things about their actual love story. Its a military/step-brother/brother’s best friend romance. It’s emotional. It’s heartbreaking. It’s a little bit forbidden. It’s a little bit hidden. It’s all of those things, but it’s also beautiful and fun. You can truly tell through Bella’s writing that these two are soulmates and belong together, even if at times they get in their own way to that.
This is book one of two, and the end of this book had me crying like a baby for a handful of reasons. It’s difficult to read sometimes, but I am excited for book two (9/7) because I’m so ready to find out how we go from this ending to HEA.
AVAILABLE NOW! *ARC
CW (will contain spoilers*****): military injury/death, major health diagnosis, discussions of infertility
Wonderful, emotional story, beautiful writing, and characters you'll absolutely fall in love with. Completely fucking wrecked me, but yo, that’s cool 🙈.
And that’s before the cliffy….
I was going to say more, but I'm pretty speechless. Read this book, the conclusion is coming soon, thank God.
This was the book I didn't know I needed until I finished reading it. Since the end of All In, I have been dying for Cooper’s story. I think all of us were. So when Changing the Game landed in my email, I squealed. And then I sat on it because I was terrified of the cliff hanger. It is no secret I don’t handle them well. I refuse to read them, I will wait for the series to be complete. So it took me five days before I picked it up. Finally ready for Cooper’s story. Finally ready to have my heart broken. Except, I didn’t get Cooper’s story. I got Carys’s story. Cooper was there of course and he was just as amazing as I thought he was going to be. But Changing the Game, to me, was all about Carys finding herself. About finding her path without the cloud of being the baby of the family hanging over her head and Murphy being an overbearing brother. It was her chance to figure out who she is and wants to be. This was her journey. You are going to swoon and fall in love. You are going to laugh. You are going to be angry. You are going to cry. This is most definitely an emotional rollercoaster. But yeah, Carys’s story. Now I think I am finally ready for Cooper’s story.
This is my first book by this author and even though it’s the first of a standalone duet, it is not a standalone. There are about 50 thousand other couples in this book from past stories that it was so confusing and somehow they are all married to siblings or are related…? I honestly gave up trying to figure out who anyone was and just let them meld into one singular “other characters” character so I could keep the story going.
As for this book - it started out with a bang and I loved both Carys and Cooper at first. There was some incredible unrequited love build up and I had such high hopes for that angsty yearning… but then the instalove curse struck again, and in the space of a few chapters they were banging. When they did profess their love, it went something like this:
Cooper: I love you and can’t imagine my life without you.
Carys: Totes! Luvu2 but no one can know, but let’s fuck to celebrate.
And that was the problem - there was so much promise and the bones of a great romance, but it felt so thin and just skated around, when the author should have taken the time to dive deep into their head and heart space through showing vs telling. About 75% of this book is inner monologue and when the characters actually converse, it’s just rehashing the inner monologue. And Carys - sweet baby jesus - i know she’s only 20, but she needs to learn how to communicate.
The cliffhanger was a weird one, as i can’t imagine how there’s an entire book worth of plot left to cover. I sense it’ll be as exhausting as the last third of this book when Carys was pushing Cooper away. I’ll probably download it to skim just to find out how it plays out.
Maybe I would have liked this more if I had read all the other books, but I’m not even sure
I was going to wait until I read the duet in full to review because there really isn’t much I can say about the story without spoiling something but then I realized I can tell you other things :) *happy and not so happy face* LOL
If you’re a super fan of Bella and started at the very beginning of her writing, then you’ve met both Carys and Cooper on many occasions and you probably already know that someone has a crush on someone that may or may not be reciprocated. And, if you read Fallen King then you know we’re in for quite a traumatic story … hold on tight! Also, you might have figured out by now that the timelines of her stories overlap quite a bit and sometimes you’re reading what you already know etc etc etc, which brings me to the end of Changing the Game. As much as I appreciate a good GASP moment in a cliffhanger of a duet, this was just *sigh* … Carys & Cooper already have so many circumstances already in play in their story, was that really necessary? I know, it’s a me thing, but I just hate dramatics for the sake of dramatics, and this absolutely feels like that. I can’t go into details on why because spoiler, but UGH, why tho?!
This is a gut-wrenching journey as much as it is a journey full of hope and heart and I didn’t expect anything less. I cried more than I care to admit reading this story because it was real and relatable and I have to give Bella props for unfolding some of the circumstances respectfully and with diligence and with obvious knowledge as well. I look forward to seeing how she unfolds the next chapter in Carys & Cooper’s journey and hope against hope life is done throwing them curveballs!
Awesome!! That ending though…….will just have to patiently wait for book two of this duet, which fortunately isn’t far off.
This is a brother’s best friend & step sibling romance. This sounds taboo but in my opinion it really isn’t, it’s a complication. Carys has had a crush/been in love with Cooper for years, then he ended being her older step brother. Cooper is a Navy Seal and is only home for days at a time, when they meet up again both do a poor job of fighting/hiding their feelings. This was written really well and Carys as a character was a strong, determined and fiercely loyal and I cannot wait to see what comes next.
'A Navy SEAL who’s owned my heart since the day we met. Loving him was easy. But time was never on our side, and stolen moments only last so long. Are we worth the risk, or will we both go down in flames?'
Cooper Sinclair has been Cary's crush since she was a teenager, but he's also her stepbrother and brother's best friend. As a Navy SEAL, Cooper is constantly traveling and going to different places. When Cary starts college, she is unexpectedly reunited with Cooper.
Their story was heartbreakingly good, and I loved Cary and Cooper. The character development of both characters and their chemistry was perfect. Now I am anxious to read the second book in the duet after that ending …
Changing The Game is the first book in the Risks We Take duet by Bella Matthews.
The story follows Carys and Cooper, one a college student trying to figure out who she is and experiencing all that life throws her way, and a Navy SEAL who’s just returned from deployment. Upon a night out with his team, Coop is shocked to hear the voice of his best friend's sister singing, oh wait…his new stepsister and she’s all grown up. And Carys comes face to face with the man she travelled across the country for, but…he doesn’t know it.
These two have an immediate chemistry as they reconnect, and finally take the forbidden step they’ve each wanted for sometime, but neither were ready to admit.
I can’t wait for Ending The Game, as Carys and Cooper’s story isn’t over.
Carys has a secret. She's in love with Cooper, her brother's best friend. However, Cooper is also her step-brother and Carys is terrified that their respective families will judge them. Nevertheless, Cooper does not want to be her dirty little secret.
But then Carys receives some horrible medical news and pushes Cooper away and breaks his heart. Cooper is a Navy Seal and is often gone on secret missions for long periods of time. Carys is overtaken by guilt when Cooper's team is attacked and no one knows who is dead and who is still alive.
On to book # 2 and betrayal of the most deadly kind.
Cooper Sinclair and Carys Murphy have been dancing around each other for as long as they remember. Carys has had a crush on him since they were younger, and Cooper is now looking at her with eyes wide open, seeing her for the lovely, charming, sassy woman that she is.
But their relationship is a tangled web that they are trying to navigate around. Their parents are married to each other, and Cooper is her brother's best friend. Trying to figure out their feelings and relationship under THAT microscope is not going to be easy. It also does not help that Cooper is a Navy SEAL, who gets deployed at a drop of a hat.
Yet these two decide to jump in headfirst. Will they be able to successfully overcome all of the adversities life throws at their young connection?
I think Bella Matthews broke me. The angst in this read is at level 100. *I* felt like I was in this relationship with Coop and Carys. The drama, the laughter, the romance, and the tension -- all were blended beautifully into this story.
Their chemistry is absolutely sizzling. Bella Matthews does a great job of using small details to build the tension and the wanting until it is ready to ignite. And ignite, it definitely does.
I cannot say enough about my love for the Kroydon Hills universe and the people in it. It was great to see all of them again and get glimpses into their lives. It might get slightly overwhelming for anyone new to this world, and the only remedy to that is reading the books from the beginning. Trust me, you will not regret it.
This is Book One in a duet, so you know that it will end in a cliffhanger. One that will leave wanting Book Two in your hands right now. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until September 7.
** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Bella Matthews and Social Butterfly PR for providing an ARC. **
Carys is on a journey across the country from her family, going to art school. She has goals and dreams to be a designer, but also happens to be an amazing singer as well. She has always had a crush on her brothers best friend, who recently also became her step brother.
Cooper is a Navy SEAL, his dream is to be a tier 1 operator and with that comes him being spun up and gone a lot on a moments notice. He’s always noticed Carys but she was off limits, but he can’t resist the pull he has to her anymore.
I love these two. They made my heart ache so much in so many ways. The feeling of someone you care about being military, in danger and gone all the time without notice or communication is something I remember all too well. It allowed me to relate with Carys and feel for her on a deeper level.
There is many obstacles in the way of Carys and Cooper being together, and there gets a point where there’s so much angst. I will say this, Cooper Sinclair is a dream and absolutely perfect!
"I can live without everything else. But I can’t live without you. How can you even question that?"
I knew this book would destroy me—and in a really sick way, I was looking forward to it. And guess what? I was right. I found myself crying my eyes out, just as I had predicted.
Worth the Risk is the first book in a duet that I already know will become a lifelong favorite.
Cooper and Carys’s story meant everything to me. Their chemistry, their banter, and the slow burn were absolutely incredible. I could read a thousand pages of just their interactions and never get tired. But don’t let the flirtation fool you—this book is an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end, and I couldn’t look away for a single second.
Carys is such a strong and layered female lead. The way she carries us through the story was captivating. She’s a hopeless romantic, and watching her battle her insecurities and face the weight of life’s challenges was both heartbreaking and relatable. She frustrated me at times, but I also wanted to hug her tight and promise that everything would be okay.
And then there’s Cooper… I was excited for his book, but I didn’t expect to fall for him this hard. Ugh. What a man. He is completely obsessed with Carys in the most tender, devoted way. Watching him fight to show her that she’s enough—more than enough—was gut-wrenching and beautiful. She is his sun, his moon, and everything in between, and he never stops trying to make sure she knows it.
They were both so lost, so unsure of what the future held—but at the same time, so certain of each other. The messiness of their love, the vulnerability, the longing... it all felt so real.
This first part of their journey was breathtaking. And even though those final chapters shattered me and made me sob, I know—deep in my heart—that book two will be just as powerful. I can’t wait to see them get the happy ending they both so deeply deserve.
Oh boy, this is a high-angst read! Just when things are looking up, the hits keep coming. Still, despite the tears and sobs, it kept me reading, devouring it within hours.
It wasn't just that Cooper and Carys were engaged in a hidden relationship - what with Cooper being Carys' brother's best friend, but Cooper and Carys are step-siblings, and their family would never understand.
That ending broke my heart. I think I cried the entire last half of the book. I KNOW they get their HEA in the end, but it is a rough road.
Bella has been a definite favorite author of mine since I read All In. I love the characters she creates and their town of Kroydon Hills. Every book she puts out, I know I am in for a good story that I will devour within 2 days.
I loved getting to know Carys. She is mentioned in previous books (obviously the younger sister of Murphy) but we get to know her full on in this book as she is the FMC. I loved her want to get out from the need to be protected by everyone and wanting to be an independent grown woman. She stands up for herself and makes it known that she is not the little girl everyone keeps seeing her as. Especially with her big brother. The medical diagnosis.. wow. That was definitely something I didn't see coming. I honestly thought it was something far worst (not that her diagnosis isn't bad) but this whole thing really messes things up and leads to Carys pushing away the only man she truly loves and the man who is fighting for them to be together. Also, who knew Carys was a little freak with a breath play, praise and pain/pleasure kink?
Cooper... just mmm 🤤 He clearly loves his military career and is happy for the decision he made. When he reconnects with Carys, sees her as the woman she is now and not the girl who is the younger sister of one of his best friends, he gains strong feelings for her. He tries to fight it at first because they are step-siblings (just like Carys tries to fight off her feelings bc of them being step-siblings) but he eventually caves when he thinks Carys feels the same and they give in to their desires for one another. In all honesty, I really thought Cooper would be hesitant to want to tell their families but was surprised it was the other way around. And just an FYI... you will swoon. Especially if you have a praise kink because he drops a few "good girls" at the right moments and it's just 🫠 Like damn. Also, Cooper is a bit bossy in the bedroom and yeah, he totally can get it.
Bella did an amazing job with Changing the Game. It was everything Bella gives.. laughter, sarcasm, laughable banter, hot men, sassy females, the spice when it comes to those scenes... loved it! It had everything BUT the HEA that her books typically have. But this is a duet so I should not have expected there to be a HEA. She leaves you hanging in the "WTF just happened!?" "I need answers NOW!" kind of way. I'm still reeling from the last few chapters. I don't like this. Book 2 better be a HEA and judging by her previous books, I have no doubt Ending the Game will end on a much better and happier ending. But the wait til book 2 is going to be agonizing.
Cooper Sinclair’s life is simple and to the point, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. As a Navy SEAL, Cooper is hardworking, dedicated, and devoted to his duty alone - until he runs into her. Carys Murphy, his best friend’s little sister… and his new stepsister. Cooper hasn’t seen Carys since before he enlisted, and he’s floored by how different she is now that she’s older and living away from Kroydon Hills. More than that, he’s determined to make her his, despite all the challenges that stand in their way.
I have no words to explain the complex, messy, and beautiful perfection that is Cooper and Carys’ story. Bella Matthews is one of my favorite contemporary romance authors, and “Changing the Game” did not disappoint! Cooper and Carys were always going to face challenges, especially considering the fact that they’re technically step-siblings. But their love for each other is stronger than their fear of what their family will think of them. I really loved everything about this novel, even though some of the angsty scenes made me want to cry. As for that ending… I just about threw my kindle at the wall!
Carys. She’s always been in the background, and she’s never been the kind of person who is willing to do anything to go after what they want… until Cooper. I don’t think Carys was expecting to fall in love with Cooper, but when she did, everything just sort of fell into place. Carys was a wonderful FMC to read about because of her kindness, her warm personality, her loving nature. As for Cooper… I love him so much. Cooper is the kind of guy that you want to bring home to meet your parents. He’s so considerate, so caring, so sweet. Yet somehow, he’s got this completely other personality in the bedroom, and I am 100% here for it. Cooper is one of those rare, truly selfless people who will always put others first, and that’s part of the reason why he’s so good at being a Navy SEAL. Their chemistry was absolutely scorching. I highly recommend!
Bella Matthews did not disappoint with this book! I am fully invested in Carys and Coopers story!
Changing The Game is an angsty, brother’s best friend, also stepbrother. This book is emotional with all the feels. Cooper and Carys are so spicy and steamy! Bella Matthews really captured the idea of family and shows that no matter what will stand in the way when it comes to love. I complete adore Carys and everything she stands for. She is learning who she is as a person and taking a journey on where she wants to go in life all while making difficult decisions along the way. Cooper, he is a heartthrob! I am hands down swooning over Cooper Sinclair. He is just a good guy. Their connection and chemistry was just so right. This book was everything I needed it to be and I am literally obsessing over it!
I am absolutely dying for the next book in this duet! I am counting down the seconds. This is definitely a must read! I didn’t put it down the second I picked it up and I really think others will enjoy this book as well! One thousand percent recommended this book!
Crap on a cracker. This book was phenomenal but damn you Bella. Damn you for making my heart hurt. I get that ending but man my heart hurts so much.
Cooper is the man of any woman's dreams. When he's in he's all in. The problem is the heart can only take so much.
Carys has been in love with Cooper for so long and finally has him but is scared and afraid to let him take care of her.
This story is a beautiful love story but also heartbreaking. Carys and Cooper are that perfect match and are meant to be together even if odds are against them. You feel the connection and chemistry and never-ending love.
I can't wait to see what Bella does in the conclusion. My heart needs to be mended.
WOW. Wowza. Did not expect that. Holy crap. Okay, breathe Tracy. That was amazing. I was hooked IMMEDIATELY. I honestly was a little unsure based on an element in the description but from the beginning I was HOOKED and invested. I could not put this book down and I immediately will be reading the next book. So freaking good.
Cooper Sinclair is from football royalty. His dad is a former player and now coaches the pro team the Kings. His older brother is currently the quarterback for the Kings and Coop played in high school, which is how we met him in All In. He is best friends with Brady Ryan, Aiden Murphy and Sebastian Benevoti and their friendship that started in high school has continued while he has been in the Navy SEALS. I still love all the text messages we get between them all as they always bring the light to whatever is going on. This book gives us glimpses as each of the guys are getting married, but personally it is Coop’s twin sister’s that makes me smile the most. The bond that these two have always had is so special.
Carys Murphy is finally on her own in California. Away from her overprotective big brother, Aiden, and his friends. We have seen her mom find love with Cooper’s dad and they have gotten married. That doesn’t stop feelings and emotions to stop between what she feels for Coop, and he is all about Carys. But life is never simple, and it is even harder when family is involved. No matter how much they both want the other, life and sometimes friends get in the way. But when things happen and injuries happen it pushes one to fight for the other, it might be too late though.
Highly entertaining, emotional journey filled with witty banter, engaging charters, heart racing twists and so many fun and intriguing turns. Really enjoyed this exciting adventure from beginning to end.
out of the whole series I wanted to know who Cooper ended up with and when I saw Cary’s name on the synopsis!!! Aiden Murphy’s LITTLE SISTER??? I was so excited.. I might me biased (bc I haven’t finished the series..) but this is my favorite couple. like they are IT..
Literally started reading the Bellaverse for Carys and Cooper and I loved this so much. Can’t fucking wait to read the second book in the duet cause the endingggggg
This book BROKE me...I rarely cry when reading books. 😭 So if it makes me cry you know it’s a 5 star read. Cooper and Carys' duet is by far my favorite of Bella's so far. the last 20% of this book had me crying, my jaw on the floor and wanting to throw by kindle, but in the best way!
10/10 highly recommend. Loved this one so much I had to go buy the SE. All of Bella's series' have been amazing so far and I'm sure will continue to be 💋🩷
I cannot tell you how in love I a with Cooper and Carys! The angst and emotional rollercoaster that I just went on is EPIC. This book has all of my favorite tropes: brothers best friend, step brother and Navy SEAL - I absolutely NEED the second half of this duet.
Bella Matthew’s best book to date! I feel like I am saying this every single time a new book comes out, but this is my favorite of hers thus far (Sorry Declan and Sam!!).
We have seen both Cooper and Carys in previous books. Cooper is the brother of Nattie and Declan and Carys is Aiden's sister. Carys's mom and Cooper's dad got married years prior, making them stepsiblings.
Carys has been in love with Cooper for over four years - dating back to BEFORE their parents got married and Cooper was just her brothers best friend. Even going so far as to go to college in San Diego because that is where Cooper lives when he isn't deployed.
Cooper went into the Navy right after high school and is doing exactly what he is meant to be doing. He hasn't been in a relationship since the Navy is his number 1 priority.
Carys and Cooper see each other at a bar as soon as Cooper returns home from deployment - there first time seeing each other in years. Sparks instantly fly. Even though they both know it is wrong, they can't stay away from each other.
I absolutely adored Cooper in the previous books and was SO looking forward to his book more than anyone else's. I loved seeing him with Carys - he is the epitome of an amazing boyfriend. The connection that both of them have and the chemistry is just off the charts. I loved seeing it for both of them so much.
Carys had some issues that caused her to push Cooper away (poor Cooper!). While I don't understand why she would do that, especially after being in love with him for long, I emphasize with what she was going through.
This is book 1 in the Risks We Take Duet, which means that this leaves off on a huge cliffhanger. I had in my mind one way this was going to go and I was so wrong!!! Aside from leaving Carys and Cooper on a cliffhanger, there are side characters that have huge cliffhangers as well. I didn't expect to get so emotional, but god this book was so good.
Not so patiently waiting for the second book to come out!
Changing the Game by Bella Matthews ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Overall:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Feels: 😯😆🥹🥺😍😡😳😭😭😭😭 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🔎𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒🔎 Leads: Carys and Cooper HEA: first book in a duet Release Date: August 22, 2022 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 📖 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎 📖 Kindle Unlimited: ✅ Audible: coming in the future… Series: Duet Related Series: The Kings of Kroydon Hills and Restless Kings ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 📝REVIEW📝 It has been 2 years since I discovered Bella Matthews when I read her debut novel All In and let me tell you each book gets better and better and you don’t want to miss getting lost in this world! This book will bring you ever emotion you are looking for! I laughed, smiled, and cried throughout this book. 🔹 When we met Coop 2 years ago I knew his story had to be an epic one because he was such a strong character from the beginning and I couldn’t wait to see what type of person he grew into! Training and going on missions as a Navy Seal was everything Coop wanted and now he has a whole team of his own. 🔹 Even though we met Carys in the pervious series we really got too see her in her own light in this book. She is such a smart and strong women which makes he perfect for Coop. Moving across the country for not only college but to secretly closer to Coop she has grown so much since we first met her. She has secretly has feelings for Coop, who is now her step-brother, since they first met and she finally opens up about her feelings! Both Coop and Carys go through so much in this book so make sure you buckle up for the ride! 🔹 If I have one suggestion for everyone before reading this book make sure you grab a box of tissues because the end is going to gut you. There is a major cliff hanger but don’t worry the 2nd book in the duet comes out in a few short weeks!
This 3 star story didn’t hold my attention as much as I thought it would. I really wanted to get into it but I couldn’t.
Carys has been in love with Cooper for a long time but it was borderline forbidden according to them. When they finally make it through, the unimaginable happens and it ends with a jaw dropping cliffhanger.
There are different reasons for it. I had a difficult time to connect with this story. There were too many characters at play that confused me to no end. Names were thrown at a rapid pace. The story is a slow burn but does pick up for then 2/3 in. I do not do well with college aged characters.
Connecting to a story is rather subjective. It doesn’t that other readers won’t fully enjoy this story. The storyline was great.
Told in a dual POV wand does end with a cliffhanger that left me intrigued.
