Dragons are said to guard treasure with their lives…

Ceric, beset with madness from the trauma of the losses he has suffered, wanders the forests of Kilton. An urgent need to stave off the hunger of his folk calls his younger brother Edwin, Lord of Kilton, to the Kingdom of Mercia, and though he fulfils his mission, finds the greater prize he sought out of reach.

Four Stones now has the second son of Sidroc under its lofty roof – Yrling, come from Gotland to train under the hand of his half-brother Hrald. An unexpected visit from Raedwulf, Bailiff of Defenas, sends Hrald on a journey of vital importance to both Four Stones and to King Ælfred himself.

On Gotland, a dragon ship oars steadily for shore, its warriors ready to leap out as soon as the keel strikes the pebbled beach. Sidroc is there to meet them – the man they came looking for.

The Kingdoms of Cymru – Wales – have long bedevilled that of Wessex and Mercia. Much of Welsh strength is found in their women. Passion and artfulness is manifest in two, who, driven by their own ends, impact Kilton in ways unimaginable.

Take fiery flight. Two Dragons: Book Nine of The Circle of Ceridwen Saga.

I write the kind of book I want to read myself. I write about history as a way to better understand my own times. I write about people who are far better, and (I hope) far worse than myself. And beautiful objects inspire me: the hand-carved combs, skilfully wrought swords, and gemmed goblets of the world of The Circle of Ceridwen Saga. Almost everything interests me; I've studied Anglo-Saxon and Norse runes, and learnt to spin with a drop spindle. My path has led to extensive on-site research in England, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, and Gotland - some of the most wonderful places on Earth. In addition to the Circle Saga, I've written the novella Ride, a retelling of the story of Lady Godiva, and The Tale of Melkorka, based on the Icelandic Sagas. I've been the fortunate recipient of fellowships at the MacDowell Colony, Ledig House International, and Byrdcliffe.
Hearing from readers is a special pleasure and I always answer my letters. So write to me! www.octavia.net Author photo by Barbara Simundza

NO! Octavia Randolph, you cannot leave your readers with a cliffhanger conclusion like that. I want to know NOW what happens next. This could throw all of Kilton into chaos. And please can Sidroc, my favourite Viking, make a bigger appearance in the next book?
Another well researched and brilliantly written book in the Circle of Ceridwen Saga. This author never fails to delight. She evokes 9th Century Britain, at a time when the Danes were settling on more and more land there, with such clarity the readers feel they are walking in the shoes of the Vikings, Celts or Anglo Saxons. The detailed descriptions of everyday life at the time immerse her readers in the atmosphere of unease which prevailed, when landed families needed to make alliances with others of their kind to secure peace across borders. These alliances were frequently secured by the marriages of young girls to firstborn males of neighbouring families, or to those with whom they wished to form bonds. These young women were sometimes sent great distances to wed strangers for the sake of their family security. Skirmishes frequently broke out between Britons and Danes. Periods of peace were rare.
There are several new characters in this latest book, of these I especially like Dwynwen, the Welsh girl sent to be bride to Edwin. She promises to be a strong female character, following in the footsteps of Ceridwen. I also love the touch of “magic” at the end.
Enthralling! I cannot wait to read the next book in this Saga by one of my favourite authors. A shining 5 stars.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the ninth book in the Circle of Ceridwen series each book continues the saga of love, strife, and redemption in 9thc England. I found this addition to the series to be one of the best.

Joyous discovery - my PERFECT author

I still cherish the memory of completing my first chapter book the summer I was eleven. My discovery led to a life of reading. While caring for three children under five I was willing to endure exhausted mornings to read into the wee hours. Many wonderful books, borrowed books, challenging novels, excellent authors and authors doing their best. But today! Today at eighty-two I have joyously discovered my perfect author!

The Circle of Ceridian Saga plus the prequel "Sidroc the Dane" are everything this reader could desire - my PERFECT author! Carefully researched historic settings, fully developed characters, delightful details of life in the ninth century, impeccable narrative and written with concise sentences often imparting deep emotion with only a very few words. As I read the first volume, "The Circle of Ceridwen" I quickly knew I was in the hands of a master.
Of course I went on to read all ten novels including the prequel.

Octavia, I must live long enough to read your future volumes - I should not add to your pressure - but there it is! 😉💕

One of my Favorites in the Series

Two Dragons is more than a worthy successor to Book 8 (For Me Fate Wove This) of the Circle of Ceridwen Saga. While Book 8 bordered at times on the dark side, Two Dragons leads us back into the light. We see romances blossom; we reunite with old characters in new and exciting ways; we meet new characters; and we visit new places-all the while being swept away on a journey of epic proportions in the unification of kingdoms to be later called England. To be sure, there are surprises along the way and more than a bit of magic finds its way into this story. How could it not? It’s a story of Celts, the Norse, and Anglo-Saxons. And it’s a story of the circle of life. Ms. Randolph’s talent of creating such a compelling story and weaving it in such a masterful way so as to keep us hanging on every word is artistic genius! If it is even possible, she has written one of her finest books yet.

This is my favourite book in the Circle of Ceridwen Saga so far. I did not think it possible to surpass each and every other book from Book 1 to Book 8, but WOW, Book nine just did that. Octavia Randolph truly knows how to tell a story. The many characters come to life as she writes every word. There will be joy and tears, hopes and pain as you read through each book. Book 9 is a brilliant continuation of Book 8, For Me Fate Wove This. We meet new characters which add colour and intrigue, maybe a little magic There is hints of danger on the horizon and further development of the characters. Battles and love and intrigue are part of life for the people of Angle Land, Wessex, Wales and Gotland. Once again the end leaves you on a cliff edge with the promise of more to come in Book 10 (which is being written as I write). Two Dragons is a worthy edition to every library.

Another excellent installment.

Well, looks like I'll have to read them all again ( for the 4th time? The 5th?). I keep thinking each new book will end the story... but on it goes. This one was especially compelling, though there was little of Ceridwen or Sidroc...who I most love reading about. But it was heart wrenching following Ceric's story now. I hate waiting for the next books. Kind of wish I'd not discovered this till it was complete.....but it now seems that it could go on for a very long time. I own them all. It's become my favorite series....even beyond Outlander. And that's saying a,lot! Love Octavia Randolph's writing. I adore these characters. Would make an excellent series!! HBO....are you listening?

I love every book in this series, but this is my favourite so far. Hard on the heels of ‘For Me Fate Wove This’, that is saying something. Quality of narrative is superb as always, new characters appear and worm their way into the reader’s affection. Plenty of action on the battlefield without overdoing it, wonderful pastoral passages evoking seasonal landscapes, heartfelt interactions between characters, both known and new. Be prepared for some surprises! And spare a glance for the cover art by Michael Rohani, which is spectacular.

Octavia Randolph continues to deliver with Book 9 of the Saga!
Two Dragons, Book 9 is a win! Picking up where For Me Fate Wove This, Book 8 left off, the Circle of Ceridwen Saga continues with twists, turns, and even a few surprises. Ms Randolph is a master storyteller who excels at weaving multiple storylines together. She has created wonderful realistic characters that will make you want to keep reading each book in the series. Don’t miss this next exciting continuation of the Saga.

Another winner!

I first discovered Octavia Randolph’s The Circle of Ceridwen Saga last year. I was hooked just a few chapters into the first book. Ms Randolph has the power to paint scenes so vividly that I feel I am there. Her character development rings true. Her historical research is evident. And she tells a darn exciting story. This latest entry was satisfying on many levels as we touched based with all of our favorite characters. I can’t wait for the next one!

Quite possibly matched in perfection with the first two of the series. Most days that I read Two Dragons, it was hard to put down, and incredibly captivating.

The plot was rich in 9th century Britain culture and more emotional than I was expecting. I was surprised multiple times to see where Randolph was taking things, but I think she took the epic to new heights with this volume.

No spoilers, just pick it up and read for yourself! I seriously cannot wait to start the next!!

I just love this series so much! I am so attached to all the characters. I absolutely loved the ending and it really makes me wonder how things will play out between Ceric and Dwynwen and between Ceric and Edwin! And somehow it will come back to Ceridwen and even her mother I’m guessing!
Loved the book!

I loved this book and again be impatiently waiting for the next book. Captivating as the original circle of Ceridwen, I cannot bear this waiting and few of my in between books can compare at all. The writing is good, yes , intelligent, but the story is the thing. We love these characters, it is the key bit really why will we go spend some hours reading about characters we don’t really care about ? We don’t really feel compelled to find out what happens to them ? I remember years ago reading One Hundred Years of Solitude ( all my friends loved this book) and when the grandmother died about 70 or 80 pages from the end, I just shut the book. I simply didn’t care what happened to any one, or any resolution to the problems of place. The magic is a wonderful story, and characters to love. Bravo Octavia, and get writing !

From the moment I read of Dwynwen I KNEW she would love Ceric! This is going to cause a huge rift between him and Edwin. I’m so glad he finally emerged from the woods.
I was surprised to read of Dagmar! I honestly thought we had heard the end of her, but unfortunately it seems like she may plague Hrald in the future.
I really like Pega. I want Hrald to be happy with her and actually love her.
I was SO GLAD that Aelfwyn could finally marry Raedwulf!!!! I look forward to her being with him.
As always I really enjoyed the book!

I absolutely loved this book!!! What a way to end this book with a cliffhanger that makes you want to read the next book as soon as possible. Octavia, please don’t make us wait an entire year for the next book in this incredible saga. I have enjoyed every book in this series of the Circle of Ceridwen and keep wanting more. When Luned appeared in this book, it finally became clear to me why this series is called the Circle of Ceridwen. It is the Circle of Life beautifully and skillfully written. Thank you Octavia! Please hurry with the next book.

Octavia Randolph — You’ve done it again! Every time I think I will be disappointed in a sequel, I get roped right into the story and don’t want it to end. Another reviewer wrote how are you “bring these medieval times to life“ I could not agree more. I feel like I am walking in the steps of the characters; so realistic are you descriptions of the day today life in this era.

Please promise that there will be a 10th sequel!

I thought book 9 was even better than book 8. The character development was superb. Octavia Randolph introduced some new characters into her Saga which greatly added depth and strength to the storyline. She also included the Kingdoms of Cymru - Wales. These new kingdoms added mystical and magical elements to the overall story. A great book! I am hoping there will be a Book 10

Two Dragons worth the wait

This book was worth the wait and took me by surprise. The story weaves through generations of characters and back bringing a fullness to each. This book does not so much end a storyline, but presents an opening to the start of the next chapter for the beloved characters.

Impatiently waiting

I keep thinking that the next book in this series will be a disappointment..but that has never happened with these wonderful, well
written, addictive books. Octavia Randolph writes with such believability and thought out research that I dread finishing the last by page, for I will have to wait impatiently for her next.

Wonderful!

Another wonderful telling of our beloved characters! I was utterly lost reading of Cerics distress and Begu's joy! It was pure pleasure knowing Sidroc and Ceridwen were still happy! Now what will I do until the next installment comes out? Please don't make us wait too long!

Another Great Book!

As the saga of The Circle of Ceridwen continues, I find myself wanting to know more about the lives of the families and how the circle of their lives will continue to intertwine. I have recommended this Saga to many friends who have thanked me for introducing them to this well- researched and extremely well-written Saga.

hard to put it down!

The continuing saga of Ceridwen and those she loved has riveted this reader to the point of trying to read more and more during a routine day. Dramatic turns in the lives of these characters created by the author have been the most compelling reasons for this book to entice the reader to keep on!
