Fated by Starlight #3

Taurus Untamed

Rate this book
I’m a world away from anything familiar—but it’s like I’ve known him my whole life.

I never realized my father's stories about alternate dimensions were a warning. But when I wake up in the gentle arms of a horned giant, his theories become all too real. My sisters are gone, I've traveled through some kind of rip in the universe... and the man holding me says I'm his fated mate. I need to find my sisters, but the people here have been under attack.

They need my nursing skills, and I can't find it in myself to abandon them... or the gruff, brutish man who's set on taking care of me. So I get to work, staying as busy as I can. My so-called fated mate makes it easy, and despite his stern exterior, I sense a heart of gold. I'm undeniably attracted to him, but I'm not ready for forever.

Then the unthinkable happens. I’m kidnapped, taken by the same people responsible for the attacks on the village: vampires.

I can only hope he'll fight for what he thinks is his... me.

Excuse me?!?!? Compared to book one, there is more of an enemies to lovers trope going on. Top 5 tropes for me. I have to say the first chapters felt like a repeat of exactly what happened and what was said in book one. A bit more originality or diversion would have been appreciated. Felt like I was reading the exact same book with two different MC’s. I pushed through and oh my. Bell I highly underestimated your skills. The pacing of the romance is much smoother. Not to mention the chemistry was pure fireworks.

Luckily Mina has more bite to her and Hyadum knows how to shut her up. Every characteristic that Lana wanted to be is in Mina. ”…a woman who, when confronted with an entirely new world, an ongoing war, and the loss of her sisters, does not cower and cry, but stands stubborn and insists on rendering aid to the wounded” (43). She comes into her magic on her own. The MC’s banter is absolutely entertaining. Thankfully the urban references aren’t as heavy. Hyadum thinking movies had to do with cattle had me dying of laughter.

Quick(ish) Review - 3.5 but I round up so 4 star

This is the final (for now) entry in her Fated by Starlight series.

The books are not standalones, so it's really important to read each one or you'll just being going WTF through alot of small moments.

Anyway, this is the third entry to this series and covers the oldest sister, Mina. Mina's a nurse and since they were kids, she's the one taking care of everyone. When she wakes up in Vraya after the whole interdimensional time travel thing (go with it), she meets Hyadum, the titular Taurus, who is the head of his household and her fated mate. And Mina is not having it. This series addresses the inherent lack of choice in being told you're fated mates, and I liked that the MMCs have all respected the FMCs and their wishes to NOT just give into the bond. I liked that there's a real effort to set up the relationship between these two and all the couples, while still building this 'verse.

While Mina and Hyadum do not travel much, there's a build to the final confrontation with the apparently vampire Vikings (I know!) that's focused on all the sisters coming into their powers (because yes they have powers in this dimension) and it's a little insane but fun.

There’s also some dangling threads that demand attention, things that aren’t addressed in these books. Are they plot holes or just threads? Guess it depends if Ms. Bell continues the series. I really hope she does. But anyway I liked this.

What she didn't expect was to fall through a portal and have her life changed forever. She has only ever wanted to help the sick and ailing. Now she is called a Starbound with magical healing powers but it could just as easily kill. He calls her his fated mate, but is that true, or is he just trying to seduce her? Fated mates bear the mark of the stars and hope returns to a world where is has not been for hundreds of years.

This situation unfolds in a complex and often hostile environment, raising concerns about the safety of the human women. As the story progresses, the dynamics between the women and the alien alpha warlords evolve, highlighting the protective instincts the warlords feel toward the newcomers. This interplay leads to intense chemistry among the characters, prompting them to confront their feelings and desires amidst the challenges they face.

The narrative is rich with elements of action, misunderstandings, fear, pain, love, and humor, creating a multifaceted exploration of relationships across species and the journey toward mutual understanding and connection.

In book 3 of the Fated by Starlight series, we now get Mina and Hyadum's story.

I have to say, Hyadum was both patience and his dirty talk would have had me melting early on in this book. Mina, on the other hand, has seen what a romance gone wrong can do to a person, so she is adamant she wants to live her life for her. When she discovers that Hyadum is her fated mate, she struggles to reconcile that in her head and her heart. Hyadum... he has the patience to desire to win over her head and heart and takes each step slowly and methodically.

I absolutely adored Hyadum! This book advances the story of all the sisters, the curse and the different houses. Chockful of suspense, characters you can't help but fall for, and a world that draws you in, this book was fantastic. I do hope we get more from this series because that ending... I feel I need more!

A wonderfully magical read that kept me fully engaged and turning the pages well into the night!

🔥 “Do not worry, coruscant, there’s only one thing I want you riding in that dress, and it is not the horse.”
~~~
I loved Mina so much! She’s such a responsible, caring, kind, loyal and compassionate woman. Even more, there is so much fire in her and I absolutely adored her feisty attitude. And she’s not afraid to throw herself in danger to help others. She’s used to taking care of herself and her siblings and she definitely doesn’t need a male in her life. But Fate has other plans…
Hyadum of House Taurus is one fearsome male. He’s big, strong, horned, honorable and fiercely protective. And he’s willing to do everything and work tirelessly to protect the people of Westshear. He’s a true leader and protector and I absolutely adored him!
Everything that happened between Mina and Hyadum was spectacular. From the moment they met, Hyadum was determined to win his mate and I loved that he had the patience and thoughtfulness to give her the time she needed to accept him. And Mina was so torn between the desire to find her sisters and her growing feelings for Hyadum. Both had to deal with a lot and really work for their relationship. Nevertheless, those two were so perfect for each other. And I absolutely adored their banters and teasing. What I loved most about Hyadum was how much effort he put into giving Mina the best dates ever. Moo-vies for the win! I also loved that Mina managed to show him what a magnificent and good male he truly is and that he’s nothing like his father. And when they finally gave in to their feelings, the passion they shared was blazing hot!
In addition, the storyline was fantastic! So much is happening and the three sisters and their mates were so badass and absolutely unstoppable. Even more, there were some unexpected turns of events that got my mind spinning and wanting more and more!
Overall, the story is another phenomenal addition to the series. It’s filled with magic, non-stop action, danger, twists, betrayals, suspense, steamy romance and fantastic characters.
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every single page of it!
Heartwarming and sweet. These two souls fall in love.
An emotionally healthy and respectful love story...
He loved her, so he waited for her to reciprocate his feelings and choose to be with him. She fell in love with him and his people. He did whatever he could to get to know her better. He spent time with her and was thoughtful. The bulk of the book is a romance novel with a steamy and delightful finish.
It was a delight to see a relationship develop that I would have wanted for a friend.
The romance is set on another world with a man who has the power of Taurus, the bull. It was interesting that he had a "battle form" where he would grow larger and more powerful. He was trying to protect his people from the vampires who had invaded his world. When she arrives there has just been a battle with tons of dead and dying. She was in nursing and rallied to assist in the care for the injured. The book was filled with battles, and developing alliances. This was a nice blend of a fantasy and a romance novel.
I received a free copy from the author and chose to leave a review.
Loved this story about Mina and Hyadum of House Taurus. This is the third book in this series and the finale, so I recommend you read the previous ones. (They are wonderful) Three sisters make a wish around a campfire and get transport to this world. Mina a Starbound women is thrust into this world is found by Hyadum who claims her as his mate. A world fraught with danger since the Vraya (vampires) invaded and are in control after putting a spell on the leading Starbound men who are just awakening because of the sisters. The Vraya are wanting the Starbound women because of their blood and powers. Though Mina finds Hyadum attractive and volunteers to tend to the wounded men fighting the Vraya, her main purpose is to find her sisters. Hyadum courts Mina. Ahh! What occurs in this finale story is action-filled, romantic, thrilling page turning story that I devoured. I volunteer to read and review this ACR that I received via Booksprout.
Mina and Hyadun's story. Mina and her two sisters are transported to another realm. They are Starbound women and Mina's story is the last in this series. She wakes up in the protective arms of Hyadun. But were are her sisters? Her main drive is to find them and all Hyadun wants is to protect his mate form the vampires. There has been a great battle just before the sisters arrived leaving so many wounded. Mina is a nurse and feels the call to help. Hyadun tells here she is his mate , which she fights. But he is patient, spends time with her, takes care of her and allows MIna to get to know him and hopefully love him. She is kidnapped by the vampires. Will Hyadun save her? Our author is a great world builder and develops her characters and their connections very well. Action, magic, growing love, vampires and danger abound. If January ever revisits this world, there are more Zodiac signs to work with. So, what's next?
I have so many mixed feelings. I LOVED this series and only gave this book 4 instead of 5 stars for reasons you will soon read. It’s not quite fantasy, not quite sci-if and all romance. It’s a unique series and I couldn’t get enough.
HOWEVER, this is supposed to be the last book in the series but there are SO MANY loose ends left unfinished. Spoilers to come….
There was a promise for “anything” to save someone in book 2 that was never collected. There was a majorly unusual decision made at the end of the last battle scene that put one of the human women in the clutches of the enemy (or is he?) without an acceptable explanation. What’s going to happen to her?? Is the vampire king even a bad guy?? Will the debt be collected from book 2? I have been thinking about this for a week and it’s killing me. Please, please, please if January Bell is reading this, I need a novella to tie up these loose ends so I can move on with my life.
Hyadum (H) finds Mina (h) after she's been transported to Vraya and recognizes her as his mate - now he just has to work to convince her of this. Mina desire to find her missing sisters puts her at odds for her feelings of desire for Hyadum. He's very patient with her and understanding of what she must be feeling, even as he wants to claim her as his mate. It's great that Mina as able to put her skills as a nurse to use even in this unknown environment and Hyadum is supportive of her. They have to face a number of challenges in their battles against the blood drinkers which Mina is an active fighter in, even without having obtained her special abilities by bonding with Hyadum. Great tale giving the three sisters their HEA. Read the previous books (including the prequel) to get the most out of this title.
Mina is the oldest of the 3 sisters who came through the trans dimensional gate. He mate finds her and her sisters, but is compelled to pick her up and take her back to his territory.
The storyline in this book focuses more on Hyaee and Mina as a couple, her efforts as a healer to treat his villagers from wounds suffered in an attack just before she arrived. Mina is concerned for her sisters because she has always been protective and their caregiver.
The end of the story being brings plenty of action and the arrival of several characters from previous books. I found this new book in the series to be entertaining and very enjoyable.
I would highly recommend reading the books in the series in sequential order to gain the most enjoyment from from them.
Taurus Untamed
January Bell is one of my favorites and this book does not disappoint.  I really hope the Muses can get her to write some more books in this world.  There are plenty of mysteries left to run with and the underlying theme of constellations and astrology is just pure fun.
She writes some very nice intimate scenes.  I would quote a line from one here but it's so deliciously dirty, Amazon wouldn't print it.  Suffice to say, the two main characters come together (pun intended) with plenty of sparks.
I particularly like how powerful the FMCs are, even more so than the MMCs.
There were a few great lines I could point out but my favorite harkens back to the Scorpio book and Ali's "murder pony," "Molmith chases after us, his tail held high in the air, screaming the song of his murder pony people."
A cool story for Hyadum and Mina
This is book three for the third sister Mina. Lana and Ali have found their mates and brought forth their powers. Now they search for Mina to make sure that she is alright. Hyadum is a good male although he does not consider himself a good male. He has been so calm and understanding to Mina. Also the villains have been attacking his city often and his people are hurt and tired. Hyadum doesn’t want to rush anything but he needs his mate’s true power and her support. Mina is a medical professional and raised her hand immediately to help the wounded. Read On!
I loved this book. It started with the action- so to speak- right away. I was completely captivated and couldn't put it down. Great world building. The characters are wonderful. I loved Mina and Hyadum. They had chemistry, but Mina was very independent and strong, and just because she found herself in another world with someone claiming to be her mate, doesn't mean she was going to jump right into his arms. I loved seeing them bond and grow closer as Hyadum tried to win her over. This story was an adventure with excitement and action. Excellent read. 5 stars.
Mina and Hyadum's Story . . .
The characters Mina and Hyadum were extremely likable. Mina had great inner strength and deep caring for others. She was trying to find her sisters, Ali and Lana, and ended up finding her mate. Hyadum was patient and an excellent leader for his people. He is gentle as he tries to draw Mina closer. Their bonding with each other was a positive experience.
When the vampires kidnap Mina, will Hyadum, with the help of Mina’s sisters, be able to locate her and help to get her away from them in time?
I’ve liked this series a lot. I don’t know if the author is going to continue writing some more books but I would definitely read them.
I give this book 3,8⭐️
I liked it a lot, a quick read.
I loved the pair that Haythem and Mina did. How their personalities matched.
Out of all the series (the trilogy, I would say this is my second favourite book because I liked better Lesath) But I recommend it a lot
A quick summary of the series:
Fated mates✅
Zodiac signs or stars✅
Powerful women✅
Some steam✅
Creative world building ✅
Go read it now!
Don’t waste time reading reviews or chancing reading spoilers. If you read the previous books (as you definitely should have) you know enough to just read it. Just get the book and start reading. You won’t regret. Great characters with relatable personalities, beautiful world building, fantastic adventure and you will just long for the next book as soon as you are done. January Bell has delivered yet again with Taurus Untamed.
Mina and Hyadum have been hinted at in the last few books so I was excited to finally get their story. I really like Mina. She is a good mix of wanting to find her sisters, but trying to figure out things with Hyadum. And I thought she did a good job of adjusting. Especially, when her nursing skills proved useful.
I kept losing interest in this book and ultimately I ended up moving on and recognizing that I am just not that invested in the storyline. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just not great. It didn’t hook me, and keep me captivated by the story. What didn’t grab my attention may be exactly what your looking for, so give it a try and see if you like it.
amazing story
This is one of those book that I get sad when I see how much progress I’m making. Normally I get excited to be at 70%+, because it means I can finish it before I go to sleep. This one I get to 40% and realize I’m almost half way and then it will be over. I really don’t want this series to end with this book. I love this world and there are more males that need their Starbound women. I’d be happy reading through all the zodiac signs.
Well done
I eagerly started this book and quickly read through it. Mina powers and her mate were ones I was looking forward to.
It was not as I thought it would be but i enjoyed the unfolding of the story.
One note i do not understand how practical she can "heal the planet" beside the people, and maybe animals.
Definitely would like another series with Cass and vampire king. And other humans.
Wow I loved Lana and ali's stories with Ali's being my fav but Mina's story wrapped everything up really nicely and left future openings as well! I really hope there are more stories coming in the near future would love to read about Cass and the vampire king that should be a really thrilling story that tells the back story of why the vampire's are running from the harbangers etc. Looking for love adventure and purpose well they sure did find it and I enjoyed reading all about it thank you to the author!!
I absolutely loved this series. January Bell does an amazing job of not only immersing you in the story, she also effortlessly blends the separate but connected stories together. Mina and Hryadums story is just as wonderful and fun as her sisters, but somehow even more so. As the eldest sibling I felt a special kinship with Mina and it was wonderful seeing her being cared for after caring for everyone else in her life all her life. I would gladly read 12 more books in this series!
Fantastic series
One of the best series I've read in some time. I really hope to see more of this world and more couples. There is definitely questions left unanswered, although this is a nice Hea for the 3 main sisters. I'd love to see a story about Cassie and the Butcher King. My only complaint, is the last chapter has a couple errors name wise. Otherwise, I couldn't put these down.
Not as good as the first 2
It's still good, the series is really neat and I hope she continues it but there's not much action in this one or romance. The main character is just a bit boring, personality and power wise, and her man is sweet in his thoughts but doesn't do much talking at all so there's really not much romance or interaction. I don't know. It's cool but not as good as the others.
Loved the book! Loved the series!
So many thoughts, but not enough words. I love, love, love this book and the other two as well!!!!! I need more! January, please, please continue the series! I want to know more about the starboard women and their mates, and I especially want to find out what happens with the nasty Harbingers. Even if you don't continue the series, you have done simply an awesome job.
The interact between the two main characters is quite sweet. He can’t do enough for her, while she’s uncertain and tries to keep her distance. The pull between increases relentlessly, until she’s ready to commit. But that’s when danger pokes up it’s head and everything goes wrong. The action will keep you reading, not wanting to put it down. And there will be smiles to break up the tension.
I was so looking forward to Mina and Hyadum's story and I wasn't disappointed. Hyadum was so sweet and nurturing. Mina was used to taking care of everyone, but Hyadum was determined to show her how much he cared for her. She was fierce and stubborn, but he loved her just the same. This series was so good, and this one was just the icing on the cake. Loved it!
I absolutely loved this story with Mina and Hyadum. Mina and her two sisters are out camping when they fall asleep they end up in another dimension on a strange and dangerous planet and that’s where she meets Hyadum a monster with horns who says that she is his mate. There is so much more going on in this amazing story I loved it and the characters and I highly recommend this book.
Perfect Series so far
This series was so good. I can't even explain properly how everything worked perfectly in these books. The men are deliciously protective and possessive while being understanding and sweet. A true "fated mates" trope. It has all the 🌶️🌶️🌶️🥵 and wonderful romance. Little angst and the starbound women are all badasses. I can't wait to read more!
