Nicky Gumbel has selected thirty passages from the Old and New Testaments which has found particularly helpful. This selection is designed to complement the Alpha Course talk, 'Why and How Should I Read the Bible?' and provides a good introduction to reading the Bible.
Nicholas Glyn Paul Gumbel, known as Nicky Gumbel, is an English Anglican priest and author in the evangelical and charismatic traditions. He is known as the developer of the Alpha Course, a basic introduction to Christianity supported by churches of many Christian traditions.
Someone gave me this book as a present and I was dubious at first. I've been a christian for few years and I am sure I read the bible... pride oh pride. It took me by surprise how good it actually is.
It explains the bible well with examples mostly from biblical point but there is real-life examples too.
Needless to say, It's a really practical book. Each chapter is short and sweet I would say -- just nice. This is a really short read, anyway interested in the bible or are bored or whatsoever just read it -- 30 days is not bad, really! :)
My friend gave me this book to help me learn how to read the bible. I read 5 pages a day for 30 days and each day a different important topic was covered and I loved every chapter of it. My favourite chapters were about loneliness, forgiveness and overcoming fear ☺️ It really set up my day well and has motivated me to give the bible a go.
Would recommend to anybody curious about the Christian faith or somebody a bit scared to dive straight into the bible like I was ❤️
