The weakest installment of this series so far ... but still super fun. This one takes place away from the quirkiness of "Pineapple Port" which is a disappointment but it serves to introduce a new character/series by Ms. Vansant, "Shee McQueen". The tomato farm/roof fixing side stories, in order to have the other Pineapple Port residents involved, were just silly. Still a highly recommended series for hilarious cozy mystery fans.
Btw ... it has absolutely nothing to do with turtles! 🤷♂️
Okay it was a slightly different type of cozy to the others in the series (thought the plug for her own books was funny) as it covered a family secret as well as the case of the stolen baby. Neither seemed to get the the proper attention and I just felt that both were skimmed over too quickly. A leak, a rummage to see were her roof is leaking, a hidden shoebox and a birth certificate. Her Gran had another baby! Can she find the father and the aunt? A marriage on the rocks, a baby boy and the devastating news that he is blind. Add a baby in a store car park and 'all change'. How do the two cases merge and will the right baby be returned to the right parents? Plus what about her leak?
When a leak starts in Charlotte’s house, she goes into her attic to find the source! What she finds instead is a shoebox stuffed in the insulation. The box contains many documents about people to whom she may be related, but are unfamiliar to her. She heads from one coast of Florida, across the state, to the other side to search for answers!!! While there, she finds a case to work on … she might just kill 2 birds at one time! This is the introduction to Amy Vansant’s other series … the Shea McQueen Mysteries.
This was interesting. It was like three books in one. I liked it It was food and funny. And very funny of the author to throw her name in it. I caught that.
I love this series & was looking forward to this book, but I ended up very disappointed. I didn’t enjoy the format and felt the story had too many storylines going at once, switching back and forth too often. I love the crew from Pineapple Port and enjoy their adventures, but this book fell flat for me. Hopefully I will enjoy the next one in the series.
Read 1\2 chapter and could get enough enthusiasm to keep reading the rest of the book. The other previous books in the series loved them laughter alot.
have read all the Pineapple port books and am slowly working my way through the audio book versions and revising my reviews. Although to be honest I am not having to change much because I enjoyed them just as much. I think maybe more than when I first read this book because Charlotte's series is now on book 24 and Shee's spin off series is up to book nine. This means I had a lot more background knowledge of the characters and how it all plays out, it means so much more but was great going back to his it all began between the two sets of characters. This is very different from the rest of the pineapple port mysteries but it is still a good read. There are three case or situations running along in the book, keeping you wondering what is going on and how they are related if at all. Especially as the story is told by multiple characters, so it does jump around. Charlotte is the only one to have a case to solve with the disappearance of a baby and finding out information on a missing aunt. Mariska, Darla and even Shamus are sadly missing from this book (if you are a fan of Amy's work then you know who I mean) so it doesn't have its usual laugh out loud moments but there was glimpses, good job for Declan and Bob. The main reason for this is because Charlotte is going it alone and is investigating a personal case, one that creates a spin off series and one that I hope makes it to Audible. Charlotte is woken up in the middle of the night by drops of rain landing on her head. On further investigation she discovers a well hidden box that opens up lots of secrets and questions. When her adoptive mother can't answer them she sets out for a mystery hotel pictured in one of the news clippings. Things only get weirder as nobody knows her but Charlotte doesn't believe the hotel manager who keeps dodging her questions. The only clue Charlotte has is a bunch of blank post cards, with just the hotels addresses on. Could they really be from her missing aunt and if so what do they mean? Then a baby gets stolen and Charlotte has to extend her stay. She can't go home until she gets to the bottom of the two mysteries. Back home Declan has his hands full trying to repair the leak and Sheriff Frank and Bob have a friends land to protect. What will Charlotte come home to find? I like the narrator. She is the voice of the Pineapple characters
I've really enjoyed this series, but usually the disparate storylines come together at the end. But not this time. I would have liked more about Charlotte in Juniper Beach, and more about Hunter. The segments involving Frank, Bob, and the rest back home had nothing to do with nothing, and didn't even have a finish. I'm still looking forward to the next one, of course, hoping it will be as good as the earlier ones.
Charlotte finds a shoebox in her attic. She reads the old papers and discovers she has an aunt she didn't know about. She wants to find her and so she goes to the latest address. The people there don't want to talk. She finds out about a kidnapping. She wants to find answers to both the kidnapping and who her aunt is. Will she get the answers? How will she go about it? Declan is fighting a tomato war. Will the corporation win or will he? I loved this!! Plot is well constructed, characters are fleshed out, story is well written. It was cute and funny that Amy managed to plug herself and her books into the story. I voluntarily received a copy of this book through Amy's fan club. I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
When Charlotte finds a shoebox with some old papers in it, it implies that she has a long lost relative, an aunt she never knew about. She goes to the last place that is given in the box and finds out that there are people there that are not all that cooperative with the information. There is something else that is going on in the town she is in, a child's kidnapping which also is messing with her mind. Can she find the aunt? What about the kidnapping case that keeps coming into her head? You will need to read the book to see how it all turns out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book from the publisher.
Charlotte wakes to a leaky roof. While investigating the leak in the attic she discovers a box of new articles and a birth certificate. In this book she goes to Juniper on the east coast! While there she discovers she has more family than she thought. While searching for her missing aunt she works a baby swap case. It was different seeing her work alone without Darla,Marishka,Seamus or Declan! I did like the new characters but not as much as the regular characters. The story lines were different but great! I especially liked seeing Declan in a funnier role. I really loved this book and I love this series and author!
Another fun addition to this humorous mysteries series. There were two storylines running through the book, both equally engaging. There was less of Charlottes ‘adopted mothers’ than in previous books but more of a focus on Charlotte with plenty of snarky dialogue to go with the mystery.
While Charlotte is across the state looking for what could be her aunt, Declan is helping Bob and Frank save the Tomato Kings farm from a corporation.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily am providing a review.
I've had the pleasure of reading this series from the start of book 1 Pineapple Lies. I enjoy the author's sense of humor and her ability to take this series in totally unexpected ways. Pineapple Turtles is a great cozy mystery that really surprised me. A new interesting twist and character that I can't tell you about. I don't want to spoil the fun for the next reader. Each book can be read as a stand alone but for maximum enjoyment start with the first book and read your way through to the book 10.
Ok, so we were given a double plotline in this book. It kept things hopping. Charlotte drove 3 hours away to investigate a possible living relative of hers. While there, another mystery intertwined with her hunt for a relative. Back in Pineapple Port, Declan is involved in helping to protect a widow's property. Not sure how that ended, it was left kind of open-ended. Plus, Declan had his hands busy elsewhere. This was a great book that left new possibilities for future mysteries.
Tie-In to Shee McQueen Series This is book 10 of the Pineapple Port Series. This is the one I have been waiting for! This episode has the tie-in with the new Shee McQueen series – by the same author, of course. On a more serious note, a spoiler alert. This story deals with abducted infants which is something that is a trigger for many women. This is a cozy mystery and the topic is handled well, but it is still infant abduction. Now that I have done that civic duty, I loved the book, especially the tie-in with the new series.
A leak in the roof might be annoying but who knew it could lead you to finding long lost relatives. When checking out a leak Charlotte finds a box in the attic with birth certificates that leads to questions about missing relatives. Charlotte heads off for Jupiter Beach to track down family and gets involved in a missing baby case. After many twists and turns and some very unexpected surprises Charlotte helps find the missing baby and suspects she may also have found a missing aunt. Great Read.
Received as a gift through the author's fan club, this is a REALLY great series, quasi-cozy, not usually any explicit blood and guts but still has an edge - I have enjoyed every one of the books. I strongly recommend joining the authors newsletter list to keep abreast of her doings! ( plus freebies and news)
This particular series is great on audio as well. my adult son has suffered a brain injury rendering him unable to read print, and he loves this series.
I liked this one better than the last book that occurred outside of Pineapple Port. After finding a shoe box with momentous, Charlotte takes a trip to locate a possible aunt. One she did not know existed. There she finds out more than she expected but also a case. Luckily, this one is not a murder. The side benefit is working with her long lost aunt.
Amy Vansant has become one of my favorite authors. She writes easy to read, funny, and short stories. I especially like Pineapple Port and the Kilty series. I like the new twist she added to the series this time. I liked more Declan. I enjoyed the old huts getting to have their fun too. I’m looking forward to more.
Who doesn’t love Charlotte, her resident neighbors that are like family and her adorable yet deadly boyfriend? I did miss Charlotte and Declan having more couple time but her discoveries were worth it. I do like more romance but the book and series is still great.
Stumble upon information that you have to know it's origin
Charlotte comes across a box of information and is surprised by it and follows it. She is confused, disappointed, leery, dazed, and of course tired. She stumbles across a baby situation and has to help and in doing so it leads her to the information in the box. And poor Declan gets set up by the gophers!
Our heroine, through tracking a roof leak in her house, found an old shoe box. It had papers about a girl. So, she drives to another part of Florida, to investigate. Thinking that after her Mom passed, she had no family, pleasantly surprised to find out she has an Aunt. Also, gets involved with a snatched baby case, where one child was switched for another.
Said because to enjoy these books I think it’s best to start with book one. The characters continue and evolve through each book. I’m glad I read them this far- this one was quite different, well developed, kept me wondering- I read it all the way through without stopping! I really enjoyed it.
I absolutely love this series. Each and everyone is an adorable mystery with humor. The characters are fun and it's worth reading. I ghost ave read 10 so far. Each one is different even though the main characters are in each. You feel like you know them and get invested in the outcome.
Charlotte puts her investigative skills to the test and helps solve a baby swap. Along the way she uncovers a family mystery and finds relatives she didn't know she had. Meanwhile back at Pineapple Ports things get explosive.
Very book in this series is better than the last one, and this one is the best so far. I laughed out loud a lot! But, I also cried, got mad, and then laughed again. What a roller coaster of great writing.
Lots of mystery about Charlotte past that she did not know about. Then the gophers club the drinking group of husbands of some of wives that live and grew up in pineapple port have one last great battle. This is fun series
Pineapple Turtles, by Amy Vansant, is the tenth book in the series, and the first in which Charlotte Morgan is a licensed P.I. Charlotte unravels three mysteries in this page turner. Start at the beginning of the series and just keep on reading.
I really love these cozy little mysteries. Although I am not crazy about the ending, or lack thereof, I know that I always read these as soon as they issue, so I am looking forward to #11.
Amy always has some little extra twists that are intriguing. This one has three layers with one seemingly unrelated. I reserve my final assessment until the next book. Can’t wait!
