I am not the biggest fan of Ivo Banac, for me, he is kinda a boring teacher, not really objective, thinks he is always right, and he doesn't really look for a second opinion but confirmation of his own, but I was pleasantly surprised with this book. Sure I could dissect it and try to point out what I think its mistakes were, but overall good stuff. The topic that isn't really researched, but it is very very important, is brought to life in a well-documented book. Must say Ivo Banac writes good history books, other stuff is another matter, but his books are things worth reading.
