Stranded with My Forbidden Billionaire is a scorching and emotional contemporary romance from Lucy King.
Amelia is in desperate need of financial help. Having come from great wealth and privilege, Amelia had once had plenty of money at her fingertips – until her father had lost it all. She had then found herself penniless and alone and had to learn to stand on her own two feet. When she had subsequently won millions in the lottery, Amelia thought that all of her money problems were behind her – until she found herself in a terrible predicament that had almost ruined her. Amelia realized that she needed expert advice and the only man who could help her was the last person in the world she wanted to have anything to do with: her brother’s best friend, billionaire financier Nick Morgan. Only, Nick wasn’t in an office in the City or the Financial District, but on his private island in the Indian Ocean!
Nick has known Seb and his sister, Amelia ever since he was a teenager – and a lot has changed since then. No longer the scholarship kid from the wrong side of the tracks, Nick is now one of the richest and most successful men in the whole world. When he hears of Amelia’s predicament, he decides to help her out as a favour to Seb. But if Amelia wants his help, then she needs to come to him on his island. Only, Nick never imagined that on her arrival, a tropical storm would sweep across the island leaving him stranded with the woman he has been attracted to ever since he was a teenager!
As emotions run high and tensions soar, the fiery frisson that has always sizzled between Nick and Amelia reaches fever pitch and succumbing to temptation soon proves inevitable. Attraction quickly deepens to something neither one of them was expecting, but are Nick and Amelia ready to admit the truth about what they really feel for one another? Or will these two sworn enemies let their pride and fears get in the way of a love that could last a lifetime?

I always enjoy this author’s books. I mean, I look forward to them and jump straight in, ready to be captivated and overwhelmed. They usually have fabulous characters and totally credible plot lines.
This one should have fitted all the criteria. Exotic location (secluded tropical island), great premise (heroine forced to seek help from the man she’s hated for years) a lottery win that she wants to use in a positive and commendable way, a dishy hero who we see almost immediately, has actually loved her for years. Oh Nick - what a delicious guy!
But, somehow - and it really hurts me to say this - it did not quite hit the mark with me. I was expecting a five star read and I got a 2.5 star one instead. It was the heroine that spoiled it for me. I really could not get into her head and the way she treated the hero, what she thought about him, the way she disregarded him and his feelings - simply frustrated and annoyed me. By the last chapter I wanted him to reject her forever - she didn’t deserve him! Her insights came too late - all at once and unbelievable I’m afraid. Black moments should be organic and I felt this one was shoehorned in.
I wish we’d had dual POV and in 3rd person not first. Spending the entire book in her head was painful.
LK is a brilliant writer and there was so much of this that I appreciated and liked, even loved - but Millie’s underlying misery and unpleasantness made it too hard for me to empathise with her.
It won’t stop me reading LK’s books. - but this one was simply not one of my favourites.
However it was still a fairly good read . I guess my expectations of a LK book are now so high, it’s inevitable I might be a little disappointed sometime. The quality of the writing is still excellent and d I will be reading her next books.
Despite only being a little over 200 pages, this book felt longer. A lot seemed to happen, and the story moved along well. I’m a bit disappointed because I thought the stranded aspect would have been more of a storyline, and it really wasn’t.
I liked both of the characters. Normally I appreciate when a story also has strong side characters but I did like that this was so focused on just the two main characters. There was a lot of inner dialogue, and I personally preferred when they were talking to each other. I thought that they had a good connection and liked when they talked things out.
Overall, this was an pretty good read. I’m glad I read it, but won’t rush to reread it.
Mills and boons are my guilty pleasure. They remind me of sneakily reading them at my nans house as a teenager. I love to get lost in them if I can’t sleep or if I wake early. This one was a good as the rest. Nick sounded hot and sexy and the island sounded beautiful. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
I liked it. I don't normally like 1st perspective and not having the hero's POV, however it works in this story.
I really liked the hero and how absolutely in love with heroine he was for years. I don't love that he slept with so many other women, but after what heroine said to him when she was 16 (she was a teenage girl and didn't mean what she said to him), I don't fault him at all for not letting her know he liked her (thus him trying to get over her). While I don't like that he slept with so many women, I'm glad he never got serious about another woman.
The heroine was ok, but I feel like how devoted the hero was that he deserved a better heroine. She wasn't horrible, but was a bit too self centered and said mean things to him that he didn't deserve. I get she went through alot however I think it was for the best she went through all she did and also that she didn't accept hero's money, she was a spoiled rich girl and needed that life experience. She did sleep with several other men not sure how many, but I am glad that she wasn't a celibate virgin for him when he wasn't celibate himself. P.

NOTA!
I did like this story! It did have the possibility of it being true. The characters were believable and it is possible for someone winning the lottery. I like the characters and the plot as it developed. The ending is expected as with all Harlequin books.

It has to be said that this was bad. But it was exactly what I expected it to be so I’m giving it 1.5 stars. Thank you for introducing me to the word piratical and teaching me that pirate can be transformed into an adjective.
I usually like this author however This book was a tad different than typical HP. Usually it the males with the trust issues, but this time it was the female, and boy she had trust issues. I really didn’t care for her character. Oh well…
