Devotion to the Seven Sorrows of Mary put very simply means remembering daily the sorrows of Mary. This can be done by saying the basic prayers of the Seven Sorrows on page 170, or better yet, the Rosary of Seven Sorrows on page 184.
This book explains the devotion and the urgency of this devotion. Included are five Scriptural reasons why Mary is also YOUR mother. The book explains why we experience sorrow, and explains how to deal with suffering better. Through this book you will increase your trust in God, and increase your love of Jesus by imitating Mary.
Also included in the book are seven notable apparitions of Mary, including Fatima, Akita, and Kibeho. Also included are recommended prayers and five meditations on the Seven Sorrows of Mary.
Dejectedly bemoaning the trials and sorrows of daily existence or frantically clinging to the euphoric wave of ephemeral sensuality, ever more persons wonder at the meaning of life. Is there anything or anyone to count on anymore? Life may appear as a ceaseless wandering in a broken world, with a broken heart, amidst broken persons. Author Carl Brown believes that he has a message from heaven to share with the world, and it is a simple message. Look up! In fact, a loving Mother is already gazing down on you with compassionate eyes; she has walked a darker path than yours; and she has conquered the darkness through a Divine light. Heaven’s gift of the rosary, the bible on a set of beads, is a consolation and a powerful weapon of hope for our time. If you tenaciously cling to this anchor cast from heaven, your life will be showered with blessings, and your sorrowful struggles will be filled with meaning, love, and companionship. Along with the author, I can’t begin to count the wonders the Lord has showered upon me and my family through his mother Mary’s rosary; I can still visualize the joy on my late 97-year-old grandmother’s face as we would pray that wonderful prayer together!
A friend gifted this book to me this summer and I´ve been reading it for my devotion time. Brown is passionate about his purpose and directly states his central message on p 191. There are eternal consequences to our choices and we should tell people. In his self-published book, his passion comes through as he weaves his story on his journey of Catholicism. I am not Catholic so this was a super informative read for me. The suffering of Mary is to propel us in life in our sorrows and troubles. The whole book is grounded in scripture which is refreshing these days in devotional reading. Brown ends the book with several applicable prayers. It also has places to reflect and write throughout. Helpful to any Christian not just Catholics.
