Kaoru Kamisawa doesn't have your run-of-the-mill job. He makes his living by cutting ties for people by literally cutting the invisible string that connects them to each other. One day, he meets Hara, who comes to him in desparation to get a woman to stop stalking him. Hara is a little skeptical at first, but gradually starts having feelings for Kaoru. But, Kaoru knows it won't last. His special gift also robs him of his own "red string of fate" that connects a person to the partner they're destined for. Kaoru tries to keep Hara away, but can he...?
LOVED IT!!! Kamisawa is in the business of cutting the strings that connect people but he is also able to see red string of fate of the ones who you are destined to be with. Kamisawa believes he doesn't have a fated person because everyone who he's loved has left him for their fated one. Hara-san hires him to cut a string that connects him to his stalker. Hara-san falls in love with Kaoru-kun but Kaoru-kunis afraid because he know he will one day to see that red string connecting him to another. I pretty sure you know what happens from here.... I am glad it all works out though. I wish we found out why Kaoru-kun doesn't get a fated one and I wish we had seen a red string around them in the end because it obvious they will stay together no matter what comes their way. I definitely wanted MORE!!!!!
This was a really interesting take on the 'red string of fate' concept - I thought it was really interesting to have a character who could not only see the strings between people (and not just the fated red strings either) but also had the power to cut them.
While I did find this story to be very 'insta-lovey', oh my gosh, did Kamisawa and Hara's relationship tug at my heartstrings. I loved the way Akira Yoshio flipped the concept of 'fated persons' on it's head! The differentiation between a connection to a fated partner, and happiness or love is not one I've ever considered, and nor has any story I've ever read on the topic. Since posting this review, I've already re-read this (and the sequel, which is even more heart-wrenchingly beautiful).
While yes, this series does feature a substantial amount of smut, this is an instance where I think the story actually calls for it. So unless you are really against that type of thing or are underage, I really recommend picking this up for an innovative take on a classic trope.
Gosh, I loved this whole series, but this volume was my favorite.
Kamisawa can see and cut the many strings that are attached to a person, including the red string of fate that he cuts for Keiji in volume 1. However, Kamisawa will never have a string of his own because it is his job, as the person in his family who has inherited these abilities, to help others. He maintains casual relationships because he knows that no relationship, at least for him, will ever be fated.
This changes when he meets Hara, a man who hires him to get rid of a stalker. Once the string is cute, Hara expresses interest in Kamisawa and the two begin a strictly sexual relationship. Kamisawa knows that they cannot have more, but this doesn't stop him from having feelings for Hara and eventually agreeing to enter into a committed relationship.
What I love most about this story are the complex feelings that the characters have. Kamisawa desperately wants what other people have, but never thinks that he will get it, so he is constantly in a state of running away. He has one foot in his relationship with Hara and the other out because he knows that, no matter how much happiness he is allowing himself, it will one day have to end. It's heartbreaking.
I loved seeing his character development, his insecurities, and Hara's commitment and unceasing love. GAH. Epic.
Sometimes, I'm just in the mood for yaoi, and that's how it be. This was really cute, though their relationship did feel a bit too insta-lovey (that's to be expected of yaoi, though). The drawing style, characters, and plot were all nice, and I have to say I'm a sucker for that fate-string element. I especially loved the way this manga actually subverts it, and . Of course, this is still a yaoi, and I can't say it's in any way complex or profound, but I really enjoyed it. Particularly so because it was mostly fluff, which is actually what I'm secretly searching for in all this lewd yaoi (ye, counterproductive, I know).
AMO.
The insta-love was really quick, but I'll give it a pass because Hara was 100% into Kaoru and respectful of his wishes. Even though Kaoru kept a strict line in their relationship, he still fell for Hara even knowing that it'll end up in heartbreak for him. The pain Kaoru felt knowing that the red string of fate's never given him a happy ending and trying to protect himself was so heartbreaking.

I really like the story idea of this manga. With Yoshio-sensei's pretty good execution, this manga doesn’t feel boring.
One downside that I think is quite unfortunate is ... although the character visuals are beautifully and impressively drawn, I think Yoshio-sensei doesn't quite manage to convey the emotions in each character's expressions.
Santa cachucha. 🐥 La historia es un poquito más madura y adulta que la otra, tampoco se ahonda mucho en el trabajo de Kaoru pero lo conocemos mejor y está lindo, Hara es muy bonito también.;;;;;;
I liked this one even more than the first one! Oh my GOD!! The ANGST!!! So good. I loved this one so much. Hara and Kaoru were so fucking cute. Sobbing. This was adorable.
