Coven Cove #3

BloodLust

Rate this book
arissa is the child of two worlds. She is a witch and a vampire…
Witches fear her…
Vampires want her blood....
and to complicate matters, she is in love with a human, which is forbidden by both.

Larissa has settled into life in the coven and has allowed her thoughts to think of the future, a future that may or may not be within these walls. The one thing she is sure of, that future includes Nathan. Without him, her life would be empty, though the harsh reality of being in love with a mortal is always there in her mind, along with the emptiness that came with it.

While her mind thinks of the future, her past is never far behind. Many questions have been settled, but one remains, and its answer comes screaming in. She is faced with overwhelming temptations, both of the flesh and of the soul. Who she thought she was, isn't who others feel she was meant to be, leading to a power struggle that will tip the balance in her three worlds in ways that will have ripples for centuries, and potential robbing her of the future she holds most dear.

The third story in the Coven Cove series and again not a disappointment. We jump right into where the second left off which is great and no recap of previous books to bog you down. Larrisa is still learning how to deal with the 2 distinct parts of her life now: being a witch and a vampire at the same time. She is the first in existence and they are totally in the dark on what her limits are. People are in awe and some are wanting to harness her powers for themselves. She is still trying to build relationship on both side, witches and vampires, while deal with young love. Clark has a great talent for grabbing you and taking you along for the ride with this series and I am so glad I was introduced to it. 5 stars hands down.

This book was a bit faster paced and I enjoyed the new element that the new student brought in. I am surprised that the FMC did not clue into what was happening with the new students “issues.” Especially with one person blatantly stating the issue to her and she kept denying it instead of considering it. Also, Nathan’s jealously was sickening in this book. It’s extremely whiplashy from both characters in the relationship and made me cringe each time. Hopefully that figures itself out soon. Also, Nathan was so easily swayed by many outside factors and if he was really as jealous as he felt he wouldn’t have believed so blatantly what the new student was saying to get up underneath his skin and his relationship. This book really set up good grounds for our main character to rise into power- but I wonder how well she’s going to handle it. Considering since the beginning of this book she’s been more on edge, more angry and colder and she was more devious too. It tapered off a bit towards the end but she is still reacting A LOT on impulse and emotions alone- which was her strong suit before and she did great at the start but now it’s becoming an issue.

BloodLust, the third book in the Coven Cove series, picks up where The Shape of Things To Come left off. As Larissa adjusts to Coven life with her friends, including her human love, Nathan, a new vampire arrives. Unfortunately, Clay seems to have a pull on Larissa…one that she is trying to avoid. It seems however, that Clay may be as much of a victim as Larissa has been. Through her training, she is finding the strength to fight the evil that seems hellbent on winning her over. And the ending….well, the next novel just can’t come fast enough. I love this series. The characters are great and with every book, the story is gets better and better. Suspenseful and thrilling, David Clark has brought us another great novel in this paranormal series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Larissa is finding her way, as a vampire and a witch. She's remembering things that are important. She enjoys her time with Nathan and Amy very much. All is as honky dory as it could be, when a new coven member joins them. Something isn't right about him, tho I DID figure out what was going on, before it was 'revealed'. He's a new vampire and strangely, that might be the least of his problems.

Things are heating up, in many ways. I can't wait to see where the next book takes us. The last couple chapters of this one was awesome, especially the last 2 pages!

There is also a really sweet Christmas event, and right now with it being HOT HOT summer, that was nice to think about with snow and cool temps.

Larissa is getting more comfortable in her skin until a newly turned vampire arrives at the coven. He causes all sorts of havoc for Larissa and the coven.
The characters are growing and becoming more realistic, which surprised me because they were already very well done in the first book. I love the world building and the magic system; the front hall that changes with the seasons is really cool. I can't wait to see what happens next!
This is a clean read that I'd suggest is appropriate for ages 12 (if it's a more mature reader) and up.

Larissa is certain that Nathan is the one but when Clay turns up she develops feeling for him too.
The head vampire uses Clay as a door and often gets in and taunts her, takes her dancing and controls Clay. Larissa is learning to control her witch side now and that throws up its own complications and at the end she uses it to escape the coven and try and confront Jean St Claire the head vampire to save the person she thought of as her mother for so long. Everyone turns up to support her and the battle lines are drawn.

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series!
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.

Can't wait to read more of these.

The story intrigued me as I delved deeper into Larrisa and why she was so special. So much so that an ancient vampire seeks to have her blood so that he can also have her powers. It was well written and seemed to flow quite well, keeping my interest as the story progressed. So there's to be showdown, and the suspenseful result is that we need the next book to find out what happens !!
I obtained my copy as an author's ARC, and voluntarily am leaving my honest review.

Larissa continues with her complex life. Part witch and vampire, in love with a human and her ‘ family’ is a blend of every different creature within the known world. She continues to have nightmares, and the newly turned vampire who has arrived, appears to be more than he seems. It’s a heartbreaking discovery of her possible future that is making her insecure and concerned about her future.

flipping heck

Talk about a flipping roller coaster of a ride. I had no clue what was going to happen next. I did figure a couple of things out before Larrisa did but blimey only just. The writing in this was fabulous and I was gripped. However I really need to know how this all ends and soon.

3rd not so good

Brilliant 1, faltering 2, stuttering 3. Pity. Scan read the last 3/4 of this one. Extremely verbose love story, false-love diversion signposted early but took forever to get there, so true-love wins out, in backdrop of witch-skill development. Surprised this one got through editorial - weak critiques from the beta team.

As always, I'm already dying to know what happens next! I love this series and it really keeps me on the edge of my seat. It has just the right amount of happiness for the characters while keeping a good amount of drama.

Infiltrate

A newly born vampire is found and brought into the coven. Now things start to change. It's winter with Christmas on it's way and the new vampire keeps having setbacks. Finding out what is happening and how is first on the list. Good Read

Question

If Larissa was 16 when she was turned how did she get to be a hundred. Besides the fact that it was stated that her birthday was in 18??

Third in the series and just as good as the first two. I was excited to see this book in my e-mail as an ARC, and could not wait to read it. I have said before that it may seem like a series aimed at YA readers but I am way beyond that and am enjoying it immensely. I have become somewhat emotionally invested in Larissa et al, and what is to become of them. When I got to the ending I was already jonesing for book four! But please, do yourself a favor and read the earlier books (in order) to get the whole story. You won't be disapointed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and unbiased opinion of the tale
