Cameron Dupree thought he had it all. His succubus girlfriend was out of jail. He was finally pulling in some serious money working for the Venetian Cabal, and he'd demonstrated his true power by completely dominating a Nosferatu of the rival Tikal Cabal. The poor, scared human who'd walked on tiptoes around the supernaturals of St. Vincent's Preparatory Academy was long gone.
What could go wrong? As it turned out . . . a lot.
No sooner had Lilith returned home than Maeve, the Queen of the Fae herself, called a Confluence of supernatural representatives from all the realms. Attendance for Cam and the girls is mandatory. In order to survive, Cam has to put aside past grudges, team up with old adversaries, and generally put his life in the hands of people who have tried to kill him. Plus, there is the small matter of the last succubus capable of creating the magical bond that Cam and Lilith share dying of not-so-natural causes. Needless to say, this isn't what he had planned for the summer; but it'll definitely be more exciting than getting his GED.
Warning: Courts and Cabals is for 18+. It contains adult situations, bad language, violence, and supernatural creatures that generally treat humans like s#!t. You've been warned.
4 stars but you lost a star for the transphobia. As Cam says frequently, it's 2021 (2023 now) dude, why tf did you put this in your book?
This series is a weird mess. It's a Dresdenverse fanfic though this volume thankfully has less of it than #3 was. Cam is a weird hybrid of Dresden plus the typical psychopathic 'nice guy' horndog OP MC in haremlit plus the author insert. The third one is frankly the most exhausting. I've seen reviews that claim the author captures the teenager's perspective. I think it's more accurate to say that it captures THE AUTHOR's mind when he was a teenage boy back in the....late 90s? Early 2000s? There's a lot of weird pop culture references that most zoomers and many milennials would not catch. Papa Roach? 21 jump street?
And as mentioned we got some transphobic 'jokes' too in this volume. It's very reminiscent of the way the first book painted the only gay male in the series as a sexual predator and Mikayla as a 'vegetarian' SJW vampire. Hey bud I graduated from high school in 2004 too, I remember all those 'jokes', but then I grew up. What's your excuse?
I like Cam well enough. I like Dani and Lilith and Aveena. But I'm starting to not like G.S D'Moore all that much and it would be great if he could put as little of his dated pop culture references and turn of the century prejudices into his books as possible, they really frustrate the erotic enjoyment of the series.
I didn't leave reviews for 1-3 , but I gave them appropriate ratings:4,5 and 4 stars. I waited because unlike most multi-volume stories, I seriously wasn't sure about the plot sequences making sense until I got to volume 4. On one level, this a story about a kid learning very slowly that he's destined for great things.Think Wart in T.H. White's novels about Camelot, who learns he's to become king and wield Excalibur. Along the way, Cameron gets power, sex and finally, love. We all want respect, but to be cherished as we are, for who we are is the ultimate goal. The author threw in enough trials and tribulations to make Hercules pee in his loincloth. Because the journey is the fun part, not the destination. The author ALSO threw in , to my great joy, every awesome character quote from movies and novels....to give us some comic relief when our hero was in it up to his neck. Now, this story in one sense is for boys: harem, sexy babes etc. It's also for girls: All the most powerful characters are female (the All father is too far away to count). It's as it should be. A real man worship their wife, she is his reason for living. You want action? It's here in spades. Sex? Yup, lots of that as well. Drama, comedy, love, hate, passion and pain, it's all here. Looking forward to number 5.
Fantasy harem adult situations superhero MC Cameron strides again and become even more OP. A lot of profanity, fighting, and grandiosity -- and too much of the latter in places. Murders punctuation and sentence structure, so giving a huge pass here; a few places the beta readers missed with usage errors. Based on the ending, there should be one more book to wrap up the story arc. We'll see. I've read OP stories before, and Cam is by turns sympathetic and an obnoxious self-entitled braggadocio. Mixed feelings about it.
I don't usually write reviews of books I've read. However these 4 books that I've read from GS D'more have been the best series that I have read in a very very long time. the plot was very good. kept you suspense and felt good about the whole thing the characters were fantastic I just really really really really really really enjoyed this book. Congratulations!
I enjoyed this book, it seemed better than book 3 and with less use of other people’s perspectives it seemed to flow better even if the author seems hung up on swamp ass. The MC has powered up and has the ability to kick it with the more major players, interested to see where this story goes.
Okay, things have really gotten interesting and it looks like the author is going to leave us hanging in suspense. Do I like it, no. All I am able to do is hope for more
This story just keeps getting better and better. Our MC really grows into the character we’ve all been waiting for. Honestly, this story just kicks big booty; I love it! Now hopefully book 5 won’t take so long to arrive.
G.S you did it again. In my opinion these stories keep getting better. Love the pace and the evolution of our heroes and sheroes is also rewarding. Everytime I get to the end I want more. Keep them coming G.S.
Another awesome story in this series!!! A slow developing MC, who is surrounded by OP ladies!!! What more could you want!!! Truly a joy to read a darker, funnier take on the classic Fairy tales!!! I can't wait to see what comes next!!!!
This novel is a fun roller coaster ride from start to finish, but the fact that the mc acts like a sex starved simp despite constantly getting laid gets more than a little old.
