Penguin Readers is an ELT graded reader series. Please note that the eBook edition does NOT include access to the audio edition and digital book. Written for learners of English as a foreign language, each title includes carefully adapted text, new illustrations and language learning exercises.
Titles include popular classics, exciting contemporary fiction, and thought-provoking non-fiction, introducing language learners to bestselling authors and compelling content.
The eight levels of Penguin Readers follow the Common European Framework of Reference for language learning (CEFR). Exercises at the back of each Reader help language learners to practise grammar, vocabulary, and key exam skills. Before, during and after-reading questions test readers' story comprehension and develop vocabulary.
Wuthering Heights, a Level 5 Reader, is B1 in the CEFR framework. The text is made up of sentences with up to four clauses, introducing present perfect continuous, past perfect, reported speech and second conditional. It is well supported by illustrations, which appear regularly.
It is winter in Yorkshire, England. A man rides through the snow to visit a house called Wuthering Heights. While there, the man learns about Catherine, who lived in the house years before. Catherine's story of love and sadness still affects the lives of those in the present.

I did not really understand the story because I was lost with the characters. they were too many, we do not know if we are in the present or in the past. However, it remains a story with many twists. If someone can give me a summary pls thank you a lot haha my insta: capubooks! Happy reading
This is like pride and prejudice except every character is a horrible person that makes infuriatingly stupid decisions. EXCEPT Nelly she’s the only sane one who’s calling out everyone’s bs. So weird but honestly at some point it becomes entertaining, like watching a reality TV show except its a guy holding his niece hostage until her dad dies of sadness and making her marry her cousin. Overall I actually kind of liked it, it was exactly what I expected. The build up and suspense was pretty good and the ending is satisfactory. I wish it leaned into the ghostly/supernatural aspect of catherine /heathcliff more.
I like the song better
