The world is dying. Cyra, a ray of light in this dark world, finds a clue that may just reverse things. She sets off on a journey, through a broken world smothered by a deadly Smog that inflicts people with The Bronch, a disease that steals your mind as it slowly drowns you. All the while, mysterious Vampiric gangs, that appeared overnight, now rule what remains of the cities; imprisoning the last holdouts of humanity to slowly milk them of their lifeblood. Cyra battles against the nightmares of her parents' brutal deaths that seem to stalk her. With the memory of a fleeting friend's last wish, she fights on. But can she return to the world a sliver of sunshine?

What a fun ride. A brilliant one-sitting dystopian read. Horrific in all the fun sort of ways. Loved the nasty grissly descriptions of the perils and dangers Cyra must face in her search for Sunshine.
Lots of great lines and insults that made me laugh out loud between the gore.

Two reasons to love this novella: it has a heart and a unique setting. I gave this book 5* for more than two reasons, of course, but when you’re reading it, you can tell that every paragraph was written with love and care, and the imaginative worldbuilding holds potential for more than one fun spin-off. I mean, poisonous smog that shrouds the sun? Hungry people doing their best to survive another day? Gangs of vampiric weirdos? Robo-dogs? Yep, there are robo-dogs in this story. What's not to like?

Overall, it’s a fun, original, competently written sci-fi adventure that will make you feel.

L.T. Emery allowed me to do an ARC review of Sunshine. Imaginative plot and well-written prose. L.T. Emery describes the scene and characters as though you are right alongside them battling for your life. The story follows a young girl looking to change her future and those around her. She succeeds but pays a price. I like the way this story mirrors our current climate woes. I found myself rooting for the character even when all seemed lost.
