What English Really Is
by Ron Little
Your English Will Soar!

For years now you’ve been attempting to get a handle on English, but have you succeeded?

Chances are, you continue to make the same mistakes, again and again, more often than not, unaware that you are doing so.

Why? Because, in spite of your many years studying English grammar, you invariably fall back on your Chinese grammar patterns when speaking and writing English. poor communication and little progress.

What English Really Is is ultimately about overcoming this self-defeating pattern. It will help you to view your learning from a different perspective, through a different lense, thereby putting you on the right path.

Written in conversational Chinese, this self-study guide - the culmination of Prof. Little’s extensive experience teaching both Chinese undergraduate and graduate
students - contains the essential knowledge and understanding that you need in grammar, pronunciation and writing.

Upon applying its concepts, tailored specifically to the Chinese student’s particular needs, your English will soar!

(Appropriate for intermediate and advanced students as well as for working professionals at all levels).

What English Really A Self-Study Guide for Chinese Students to Master English is also available in Chinese translation under the 被誤會的英語,一本掌握英語的自學指南

I wish I read this book earlier. Studied and worked in the US for quite some years, I consider my English skills quite above average among Chinese students. But this book still refreshed and upgraded my understanding of English. There was just no one, in China or in the US, ever taught me the key points discussed in this book. I would recommend this book to all Chinese students who try to really improve their English skills and use English as a tool to allow his/herself really to learn about the Western or civilization, rather than just get a high score in TOFEL/GMAT/GRE.

1. I'm Chinese, and I found this book very useful.
2. I do make almost all the mistakes revealed in this book.
3. The problem is that I don't understand why I made these mistakes, most of the time I didn't even realize the mistakes.
4. I hope this book will help me break the vicious cycle of learning English by explicitly understanding the root causes of these misconceptions.

NO LIAISONS IN MANDARIN!
