I wish I read this book earlier. Studied and worked in the US for quite some years, I consider my English skills quite above average among Chinese students. But this book still refreshed and upgraded my understanding of English. There was just no one, in China or in the US, ever taught me the key points discussed in this book. I would recommend this book to all Chinese students who try to really improve their English skills and use English as a tool to allow his/herself really to learn about the Western or civilization, rather than just get a high score in TOFEL/GMAT/GRE.
I must rate the books five stars. It really fixed my misconception of ESL. i am a Chinese and 37years old now. Before i read this book, nobody told me that English are plurals, a, the, tense, the infinitive. for now,the book is my gospel truth of learning English. the book is really practical at many aspect. because the author teaching tons of Chinese students. He really knows exactly where our weakest points are.
1. I'm Chinese, and I found this book very useful. 2. I do make almost all the mistakes revealed in this book. 3. The problem is that I don't understand why I made these mistakes, most of the time I didn't even realize the mistakes. 4. I hope this book will help me break the vicious cycle of learning English by explicitly understanding the root causes of these misconceptions.
