Antichrist

Rate this book
Meraki Mallory lived two lives. The one that everyone thought she did, and the one she worked hard to hide. She burned with her demons instead of running from them, but when Niko Davis rode back into town with a bag full of secrets, she knew she would need to start hiding them instead. Niko knew her inside and out, and if he saw even a smidge of her soul, he would see that she was no longer the girl he left behind…

When the president of the New York chapter of the Seven Knights MC dies, he passes the gavel down to Niko… but unknown to anyone else, that’s not the only thing he left him.

Niko fights for what’s his, and he’s only ever claimed one person in his life—Meraki. So when he rips away the walls she built around herself with his bare teeth, the secrets that she has so fiercely hidden away all of these years suddenly bleed onto the four unmarked graves laid out in front of his steel-cap boots…
It started with a bond that destroyed everyone around them…
…it ends with blood.

*this is a DARK ROMANCE. Please check triggers if think you may need to.
**Antichrist is not a retelling of Hunchback of Notre Dame, there are slight nods here and there toward the original tale.

Get ready to be destroyed by Niko and Meraki, because putting it bluntly these two are as toxic as they come. He'll have you questioning your morals, he'll get you sweating under the collar, he had me flip flopping around like a stranded fish, one minute I didn't really like the guy then like a switch I couldn't get enough of him.

I'm not gonna lie this did take me a wee while to get into, the jumps in the story, and adapting to her writing style does take time, but once in you can't put this book down.

If you don’t know what this author is capable of you don’t know her at all. This was filled to the brim with some fucked up angsty twists and turns which had me ping ponging around like a yo-yo!

There’s a few triggers associated with this but personally I don’t think it’s the worst she’s thrown at us, though there are some questionable scenes depending on your level of comfort, but yet again you have to know what this author is capable of to understand where her storyline’s take you. Usually it’s down a dark tunnel with no light in sight.

This kept me focused throughout, even though the characters found themselves in some toxic situations I still came away with somewhat of a connection with them.

The only recommendation I can give you is heed the authors trigger warning at the beginning of the book and go in blind.

“He reminded me of death and pain.”

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💛🖤💜💚❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😳☺️🤫😍

The heroine: Meraki Mallory (a.k.a. Ruckus) - growing up her best fried was Niko Davis. They gave each other their virginity and promised never to speak of it again. Niko dated Meraki’s best friend Cece on and off after that, but they always had eyes for each other. Until he ghosted her and all her friends 10 years earlier. She now is the owner of a dance studio and dates and lives with Luka, a former friend of Niko’s.

The Hero: Niko Davis (a.k.a. Antichrist) - Despite dating Cece, he only ever had eyes for Meraki. He grew up as a child of the Seven Knights MC which runs their small town of Halsin. After leaving for ten years to the San Diego chapter of the Seven Nights, he returns home after the president of the Halsin chapter dies and passes the gavel on to Niko.

The Story: Niko is now home and he and Meraki still have a connection between them, but she has a fiancé and he has a girlfriend. Both of them have deep dark secrets they are keeping and once they start coming out in to the open things start to get good.

It is said in the blurb that this isn’t a retelling of the Hunchback of Notre Dame, but there are nods to it. I must say that though I know of Hunchback of Notre Dame, I never had any interest in reading it or watching the movie and didn’t even know the story, but when I Googled it and looked at the plot in Wikipedia, It sounded way more complex than I wanted to think about. This has all that and a bag of chips.

Though there were things I didn’t like about the book. Some things just were not explained to my satisfaction to the reader or to the characters. I also thought there could be more detail about what was going on at times. But overall this was a good dark romance and the end was crazy.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

I know all of what you keep hidden from the world. I know all of your demons, you wanna know how?
...I know all of your demons because if I didn’t create them, I fucked them.”

I've sat on my rating for days, trying to figure out how I feel. Did I like it? No. Did I hate it? No. And while I loved the idea and concept of the story, the execution fell so flat, that a two star is where it landed.

Now look, I love a dark romance. The darker the better. But this book? Was not a dark romance. I wouldn't even categorize it as romance. This was a dark erotic thriller. Or a dark thriller with romantic elements. But a romance it was not. And no, this has nothing to do with the overdone cheating. I'm one of those readers that loves cheating when it's done right. Here, it was just felt like shock value and nothing more. But that's not my point. The reason I say this isn't a romance, in my opinion, is because in a dark romance the romance has to be central. It just wasn't here. It came in as second fiddle that was the rest of the plot, and it was anything but satisfying. Outside of a few hot sex scenes, these two barely got time together to have any couple development. And that's not even touching on the hot mess that was the last 10% of this story.

So what fell flat for me? Well..everything. There were continuity issues, plot holes, the writing and plotting chaotic and all over the place. It felt manic. And not a good manic that fucks with your head. But a manic that took you in circles and led you nowhere.

I loved Amo's Midnight Mayhem series in spite of the plot holes and inconsistencies. But in this book, even the clever idea and intriguing characters couldn't save it. It was just too much for me. I also loved Sicko, which this reminded me of. But again, the story needed some serious polishing. And while you can say that some of it was purposeful to leave the reader wondering, it just didn't land for me.

There's references to events that are never spoken about previously. There's inconsistencies with the timeline. There's simply too much going on, frankly. There's an MC, a cult, a secret society of sorts. It was too much, and there was too little development on any of it to make me really connect to the characters. It’s also quite similar to Sicko in some aspects. But where Sicko gave me emotional connection and development, this had none of it.

Amo has a brilliant mind and comes up with some seriously fucked up ideas, which I love. But I need more than that in a dark romance. I need connection, development, I need to feel it. And here I felt like it was rapidly shot at me in bursts and fragments, and none of it really landed. I'm not going to touch on the specifics, but I'll just say that this book was simply not for me.

The beauty of reading is how subjective it is, so don't let my opinion sway you. You just may fall into the majority of readers who loved this book. I really wish I was one of them. It wasn't my cuppa, but it may be yours. So read it and judge for yourself.

Ummm…

Here’s what you need to know: Antichrist is gruesome, dark, twisted, and gritty. The love between Niko and Meraki can only be classified as toxic.

“…you will forever be his exception. Monster or man, you own both parts of him.”

This story is riddled with triggers, will take you out of your comfort zone, and leave you asking WTF just happened. While still in the (my) light-medium dark zone, it is a m.i.n.d.f.u.c.k of epic proportions. I couldn’t have predicted any of this if Ghost had a g•ü•n to my head. For that reason, unless you have sensitivities, I recommend going in completely blind.

This was my first book of Amo’s. Her writing style is very unique and it took me a minute to get used to it. That said, I liked the way she pushed buttons and wasn’t afraid to toss out triggers like confetti. I’m actually still processing this one a bit. But, I feel like this is a book that’s going to live rent free for a while.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Range of Emotions: 🥴😩🤬😭🥵😳🫣😊🤯
Burn: 🔥🔥
Darkness: 🖤🖤
Heat: 🌶🌶🌶

🗂 Genre: Dark Romantic Suspense

✨ Tropes: Ummm…

⛔️ Warning: This book may cause blushing, squirming, combusting panties, and/or self-care. It’s definitely NSFW or with a kiddo by your side. In fact, I would highly recommend you read this one after dark to avoid side eye or awkward conversations.

⚠️ Safety Squad: Triggers? Yes, ALL of them. If you have any hesitation, check the warnings before diving in. Otherwise, blind is best!!

📣 Type: Antichrist is part of The VII Knights MC series/world, a multi-author collaboration. No other books need to be read and Antichrist can be read as a standalone.

🛑 Be Advised: My Goodreads shelves are … explicit in both senses. As such, they could be considered spoiler-y.

Oh boy... This was a mess!
Where do I even start my review? 😂🤯🥴🙄

First of all, just let me be very clear that I have zero/none/nada/any issues with not a single one of the triggers on the TW list.
So Amo's "kind of dark", don't bother me... Quite the contrary, actually 😈🔥🖤.

This book was one of my most anticipated books this year, so maybe my expectations were pretty high, and that's always tricky.

I love Amo Jones writing! Facts!
It's crazy, messy, chaotic and she always makes me glued to every page until the very end! That's nothing new.
But this also makes me pay attention to small things like plot holes and similarities.

I won't be harsh or drop bunches of spoilers here, cause there's always certain reviews for that, but I'll be honest... So bear with me.

The story starts when they're still in highschool, living wildly and partying hard!
Niko is boyfriend of Meraki's best friend (red flag 😂), but they're not exclusives... they share a connection since they're kids, and they love to tease and test each other's limits while fucking around in secret.
The cheating along the book is a common thing, cause they're always with someone else, but not exactly in a monogamous relationship... All the time.

I really liked the idea of the story, with a group of crazy kids growing up together, and what happens to them when things get complicated and hard.
But I think that there was too many plots going on, to be tied up perfectly in such a short amount of time... So a lot of things that could've been awesome to add content to the story, ended up shallow and out of place.
There's friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, MC, secret cult, mafia, arranged marriage, secret baby... The list is probably longer than that and it would be okay, if it wasn't so random.

I liked Meraki... She was a boss bitch with a IDGAF attitude and a guarded heart. The whole "most beautiful girl in the world" though, got old pretty fast after the fifth mention... 😒
But I felt bad for her and everything that she went through her whole life! With Niko, with Luca and everything in between!

Which led me to one of my biggest issues here... Niko.
I couldn't connect with him to save my life!
He had all the bad guy vibe that I love but he just couldn't delivery it. He wasn't appealing.
He was honestly, just a lame version of Royce, and that was another issue!
There's too many similarities to Sicko and some EKC books to even start to count them out, and while I loved those books, this one was lacking in depths and chemistry.

The sex scenes were a blood and hot mess and I love it! I just wish that their chemistry between the sheets could also be reflected in their interactions and attitudes outside the bed. There's not one interaction between them to even consider them as a couple or love interest before 90% of the story. They're not the fun kind of toxic... It felt forced.
The romance between them is totally at a back seat to everything else that is thrown in and out of the chapters.
I would go farther and say that the romance is just the smaller trope here.

The cult thing was barely scratched and everything was turned upside down to a mafia arranged marriage before a clear conclusion, and without a good one.
So it's like a whole book, with two half twists and two half ends.

There was so much potential to everything that she used, like the cult, the kidnapped women, the MC, the Ghost and their secret organization, the mafia...  They should have been better explored in details and with clarity, or at least, give it a better conclusion, but everything was barely mentioned and with no depths.
Maybe less tropes here would be better.

And finally the way she chose to left a kind of open end to a standalone, also doesn't sit well with me.
She did explained that it was finished, but the way she did, It looked like it was just to add shock to a story that already had too many random things happening. I was not impressed.

Anyway...
This review is already longer than I wanted it to be, and it's obviously, my own unpopular opinion... There's lots of reviews that loved every single page, so go read the book and see if it's your jam...
I still love her books and will continue to read them!

wtf did I just read? this book makes zero sense, like fucking zero. the writing awful, the plot awful, the characters...... huh awful. there are so many potholes; the author went from random information dumping to providing absolutely zero info about the next character.
And let's not even talk about the ending

LONG ASS RANT TO COME. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED ‼️

I don't know where to start with this so I'm just diving straight in.

I did not enjoy this book. I was confused, and not from the "twists". Confused as to why Amo felt the need to over complicate the book with so many tropes. We have best friends to lovers to enemies to lovers, MC, Italian mafia, French mafia, arranged marriage, secret baby, some church cult baby stealers, a secret underground society and I'm sure I've missed more but my head still hurts.

Less is more people! This made the story messy to me. There were too many character introductions therefore I wasn't able to feel connected to any.

The fmc Meraki felt like Madison on crack. She's so pretty, all the girls hate her and all the guys want to fuck her. Great depth we had going on here. Nothing new or exciting.

The mmc Niko I couldn't get a read on to tell you the truth. We were told he was badass so he must be.

Now together I didn't feel their connection. They were best friends growing up in their circle of friends. They used to fuck in secret behind his girlfriends backs because no one could know for some unknown reason. He left town when she was 17 and she hadn't heard one word from him in a decade yet she loved him? Please. When Niko comes back I still struggled to feel anything between these two. They argued or had sex a few times, that's it. There was no "romance" I couldn't find it anywhere in this book.

As for the storyline itself, it was too much. Between the past and the present, the podcast and the multiple povs it was overkill. The writing didn't flow, it had plot holes, some things didn't make sense. It felt like things were simply added for shock value whilst adding no substance or enhancing the actual story itself.

And no, this isn't a hate post or review. These are just MY thoughts. As a long time reader of this author, from way back in the day with her sinful souls series, I feel that her last few books have missed the mark. I'm all for twists and mindfucks when they add something but if they don't then I'd just prefer some decent writing and depth in characters to pull me in. I'm missing that in her writing and I hope it changes soon to pull me back in. Maybe time for some new Beta's with a fresh set of eyes and unbiased opinion.

Meanwhile I'll be over here waiting on the next Midnight Mayhem instalment because that series has me in a chokehold. Please don't choke me out ✌

Well…

1. I loved the small, little nods to the Hunchback of Notre Dame. (It’s not a retelling)
2. I should have been afraid of Niko, and, in real life, I would be; however, this is fictional world and I loved him.
3. I feel like I cannot say much about Meraki without spoiling the story so I’ll just say that there is more to the surface than meets the eye.
4. Amo out here pushing all my limits in the bedroom. WHY????? Why did I even find this hot? Don’t know, but I did. And its not an overly steamy book because there is a lot of hate and enemies to all the secrets and angst, but what is there is FIREEEEEEEE.
5. This is not your typical romance in any regard. Please don’t go in there expecting the norm, even for a dark romance.
6. I swear with each plot twist or reveal, my mouth gaped larger and larger.
7. That MFing ending. That’s it. That’s all I can say about that.

Get ready for another MFing ride. Antichrist is almost here.

Ugh. Ya know, I did this to myself. I read the blurb, read the trigger warnings and then I big fat read this motherfucker anyway. This is my least favorite Amo book ever. It was confusing as hell at times, there were so many moving parts, and it was just not good. Meraki and Niko are “soulmates” so so in love with each other and yet were never together for reasons undisclosed. They all cheated on each other, and just let feelings fester for no reason.

And then he leaves for ten years and comes back hating her? But also loving her. But also not caring about her or wanting to be with her. Confused? Yeah. Me too. It was fucking exhausting. She’s now with Luka, in an open relationship that gradually devolves into utter violence, which we then find out is because he killed her aunt and then raped her and blackmailed her into being complicit. But Luka is her safe space??? I'm lost. Supposedly that’s why Niko now hates Meraki, but she does nothing to share the truth with him. She’s supposedly so strong, but she acts so weak, she puts up with Niko’s whiplash emotions like a doormat.

Finally, Niko says that he’s done with her and gives her to the son of a mob boss to marry, where she spends two years being bored. All of a sudden Niko is back and Meraki has something he wants, so they’re all one big happy family now? This book is so problematic, I cannot. And I wish I had DNFed all the times I wanted to because DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE FUCKING ENDING! I’m actually pissed off! At a book. Ugh, rage review/rant over. I need a fucking drink.

So.....it's been a few days since I finished Antichrist, and I'm still just as confused as I was when I finished the story. And that may be the point, I'm not sure. There were some parts that I did like, but others I was just thinking WTF is going on, and is this really necessary? I'm truly at a loss for how to properly review the book, but I guess ultimately, all I can really say is that this story just didn't work for me.

Wow. This book left me speechless for a while after I finished it. In a good way.
This book just kept giving and giving and giving all I wanted while reading. I am blown away.
It is DARK, TWISTED, and AMAZING.
I loved Niko the whole time, even when I think I was supposed to hate him.
The spice in this book was so good, not a whole lot because there is more of a slow burn/ tension feel to it.
I don’t want to ruin anything so I just want to say this is a must read.

One minute I was sitting down to watch reruns of Stranger Things before the new season starts, the next minute, I finished this book. I don’t know how the fuck I did that but Amo Jones has a way of making chapters flow where their is no safe spot to take a break from reading. You need to keep reading. You can’t stop.

Full review to come later once I stop hyperventilating.

Can someone explain that ending?! Please?! I need mental help after this book.

Review:

“Shoot my shot?” My brow rises. “Motherfucker, that girl has had my name stamped over her ass cheek since the day she was born.”

Nikolai Bane Davis.
The Antichrist.
What is it about characters like him that make us crazy bitches swoon?!
When you know you should RUN.

Niko and Meraki have been friends for years. They were each others first. And they always had a sizzling connection that everyone else saw, but both weren’t ready to make that commitment with eachother.

When a tragic life altering moment happens, Nikolai skilled town without a word.
And that’s when Meraki got closer to Niko’s old friend - Luca.
It creates … issues.. when Niko decides to come back into town and take the head seat of the local MC.

This book is just like Amo Jones other 5⭐️ crazy ass books. Trust nothing. Trust no one. You’ll scream WTF during many moments. You’ll possibly cry. And you’ll definitely cringe at the brutality. This book is gruesome, dark, and twisted. Amo went their in this book.

The ending is… well.. let’s talk. I’m dying for others interpretations because it wasn’t wrapped up in a pretty like bow- as Amo said but dammit, I wanted that bow. These characters needed that bow…

Baby!! Amo Jones wasn't kidding when she said this was some of her darkest writing to date. Nik was Antichrist. He was everything dark, depraved and deliciously dirty that you should fear.

At this point when it comes to Amo I just kind of dive right into the story and don't hope or expect anything because I know that whatever those expectations are they are going to be completely shattered. With all the hype around Antichrist it was hard not to form some conclusions before starting and whatever I thought I was getting into I was wrong.

Meraki was beyond even what I have come to expect as a strong heroine. Everything that she had been through, the pain and suffering was all for her to get to the other side still breathing. When you are put in an impossible position you will do things to stay alive you never thought you would, and Meraki did all those things and then some.

Then Antichrist himself, baby!! There is no two ways about it he was not a good guy. Every single thing he did was for purpose, every move made was a part of a much bigger picture and even when you think you know what he is doing, you don't.

Antichrist took me on a ride unlike anything I have ever read. For so much of this story I couldn't figure out who was friend and who was foe. This review might not give much of the story and that was done for a purpose. There were so many points to this story and revealing even one of those could unravel the story for a new reader. If you like dark, twisted tales where the villain absolutely wins then this is the story for you.

Head the trigger warnings, please!! There are some very dark themes at play here and just when you think those themes can't get darker, they do. The author doesn't deserve a bad review because the triggers were ignored. Be cautious.

Oh cheese and crackers people CHEESE AND CRACKERS! If I put what I was really thinking I’d be banned from goodreads for life! This story MINDBLOWN!!

I had no idea what to expect and that’s what I truly love about Amo! You know you’re in for a wild ride and that’s about it! Expect the unexpected and this book achieved that! I had no idea I was going to be broken so beautifully! Yup I say that with happiness because Amo always makes it right, then again that ending has me on edge and I don’t know where to go from here but DANG!!!!!!

Meraki and Niko will push every button and blow past your boundaries! You will be twisted in all the right ways and just when you think you can breathe again Amo will hit you with a surprise that will leave you reeling!

The sexy times in this book are hotter than anything I have ever read! I mean WHEW I NEEDED A FEW COLD SHOWERS!

Amo is the only writer who can make the dark side of heart happy! She has a craft that some might shake their head at but I embrace it and love every word she writes because her worlds are a work of beauty. I love how her twisted mind works!!! Antichrist is packed with everything I love and now I wait in angst for her next masterpiece!

In the words of Fez “you’re confused? I’m fucking confused bro”

I had to sleep on this one before reviewing. It was a book that had been released with such a big hype that I obviously followed. I was so excited to read it. Whilst I couldn’t put it down by the end I was like what the f*ck?

Too much was crammed into this book, that could have been spread out across multiple books. It was so busy and hard to keep track of all the ‘plot twists’. Every trope under the sun was in it. Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, forced marriage, French and Italian mafia, long lost family, secret service club type. It was all abit much and there were inconsistencies between story lines.

Also I didn’t actually find it that dark or that it was a romance, the male main character was just a horrible person with no likability. There wasn’t actually much of a romance between the main characters.

Just feel kinda disappointed, I don’t know.

“I know all of your demons because if I didn’t create them, I fucked them.”

Holy goddamn shit this book has reminded me why I have so much love for Amo and her wild ass characters. I’ll admit that the beginning of this story felt slow and I found myself losing interest at parts, until I remembered who the author was and how mind-fucking her stories are. I could NEVER hate any story written by the queen of dark romance herself.

Niko, the actual devil in an MC jacket. All of his dialogue and his own way of showing posessiveness over Meraki just blows my mind. It’s so easy to hate him because of the things he’s done and put Meraki through but come on, when have I ever hated the bad guys, the villains or the devils in stories? Literally never.

I knew Niko and Meraki were destined for one other. Meraki was so badass and I loved how dominant and strong she was. I mean seriously, no one can convince me those two weren’t born for one another.

THE ENDING THOUGH?! Highly unexpected. I have 0 idea what to think of it but my instinct is telling me that a potential book may be coming out in the future regarding Ares, his parents obviously and everything else to do with Ares’ life especially considering he will be taking over as Ghost. A girl can only hope a book will possibly come out about him, especially if he’s anything like his father (which I know he is).

The sex, the angst, the suspense, the ability Amo has to leave you wanting more and more as you flip each page…Absolutely loved and devoured all of it. I will definitely be re-reading in the near future. I’m hooked to anything and everything Amo Jones. Obviously nothing less of a 5 star read.

The sentence "wtf is going on right now and I'm so confused" kept running through my mind while reading this book.
Not only did it take me 2 days longer then usual to finish a book I was doing everything but reading to get through it.
It was confusing af, the plot barely made any sense, there was barely any conflict that i actually see get resolved. it just falls off the page when it was time and never talked about again. I feel like this book put me into a state of depression that I don't know how to get out off. There was so many tropes going on I couldnt even keep up.

Friends to lovers to enemies to lovers

Mafia
Secret society

Like pick one a stick to it? Character development was a joke. One minute its "i got this" nek min she's screaming her head off. Like what? Honestly, i feel like this book was all over the place and just... skip it. There's better books out there.

3,5 🌟

** Arc received in exchange for an honest review **

***1.5 estrelas***

“Pain isn’t a feeling that hovers until you adapt

to it. It tears through your visceral arteries

without consent. Death comes later. Pain is just

the reminder that it’s coming. And oh… does it

come.”

I didn’t think It could get any darker than it was, but it sure did.

Amo jones you delivered one of the darkest romance ever, and I loved every second of it.

This story will capture your soul , you won’t be the same after reading this one.

Imagine Sicko, now multiple for 10.000 and you’ll get a little closer to understand how Dark and sinister is Niko. I don’t even know how to describe it, so I’ll use the only word that makes sense now: Antichrist .

And Meraki is a warrior, a woman like no one else, who can surely held her own.

She has build a shield, or better an iron mask around her so strong that no one can go past it.

Well almost no one.

Her and Niko’s bond is something too rare to be explained or even understood.

“You thought you could live like a saint but forgot that you’re claimed by an Antichrist.”

Each chapter is a new piece of the puzzle, a puzzle that has been in the work for decades,

and once it’s completed it will be mind-blowing, trust me.

I won’t spoiler anything, but I’ll tell you this : you should go blind into this one,

with a very open mind. And of course remember to buckle up because it’s gonna be the darkest ride ever.

I gave it absolutely 563738 stars .
my Blog

I hope you’ll enjoy it like I did!

What did I just rea—? This was so good. Hold on a minute 💀
I mean I shouldn’t be surprised, it’s Amo we’re talking about here but.. f**k me.

“You thought you could live like a saint [..] but forgot that you’re claimed by an Antichrist.”

She didn’t come to play—Antichrist is a as dark as they come. A story so cataclysmic you can’t help but be curious. Characters so ruinous and corrupt it’s intriguing. Meraki and Niko, a twisted pair from the past, and just as toxic in the present and future. Coming across each other’s paths years later leaving Mer uncertain about Niko being her salvation or destruction…

I’m morbidly fascinated with characters who bring doom upon one another—to read and learn about lines that should not be crossed. The toxicity and gruesomeness is a whole other level here which has you questioning your morals. But because Amo writes so compellingly… you’ll end up loving it.

I won’t say much about the connection between Mer and Niko because I feel like it would spoil the story but let’s just say… it will leave you speechless. And I’ve read other say that it’s not a true Amo Jones novel if it doesn’t confuse the ever living sh*t out of you at times. And I wholeheartedly agree. Just expect the unexpected—that’s all.

Anyways—the hype is real and the story is intriguing. Definitely her darkest book but I embraced it with open arms like I would a friend. Loved the dynamic between Mer and Niko, the seggs scenes were written in such a way a cold shower was necessary. But hey—did I expect anything less? No. Would definitely recommend… *if* you can handle it.

I fucking love Amo

My brain and my jaw are… idk what they are but they are something alright.

This ticked so many boxes for my love of dark romances. Tattooed bikers and secret societies with cultish vibes, morally DARK GREY characters who are constantly pulled back to one another and badass FMC’s. 🩸

Every twist. Every turn. Every reveal that you thought was coming and then every reveal that actually came lol.

Amo can mindfuck me any day. I always go into Amo books ready for a roller coaster and I just hang on and enjoy the clues and bread crumbs she leaves us.

I’ve stopped trying to predict outcomes of Amo’s books because I’m wrong every time 🤣

This wild ride releases on April 6 and I cant wait to share this reel with you.

It built itself 🖤

Just kidding, I built it but Amo makes it easy. She has this ability to write in such a way that you ‘see’ everything but you also FEEL everything. I always end up loving her characters because they are real and flawweeddd ♥️

Also this cover that @sarah did?! Spectacular 😚 I cant wait to have it on my shelves!

And it’s Amo guys, HEAD THE TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠️

Seriously that ending?

Love Amo book this book not so much and it DIDN'T have to do with the triggers.

Okay so to be honest the book was more confusing than anything up to about 70%. That's when I can say I finally stopped skimming so much.

There was a lot of unnecessary violence with Nik and her, I really wouldn't call this a romance at all.

The other thing that turned me off was the constant jump from present, to past, and let's not forget the so many years past present. Just makes it confusing.

If anyone rated this between 1-3 stars, I am certain you don’t really know what goes into a good book (I'm jk.. kinda of. I love Amo if you can't tell). It had a perfect plot, character growth, all questions were answered to the plot / different situations throughout the book, and perfect steam. My emotions ran haywire during the entire book, so much I almost gave myself whiplash.. but that’s Amo for you. She has a vertain writing style that some may have to get used too, but this story unraveled perfectly! As soon as you had any questions about the story, they were answered in another twist.

You know when you read a book and want to switch lives with the characters because their world is better than ours? This is one of those stories. This book was dark, suspenseful and deliciously steamy! You feel like you’re in their world with all the detail put into the book.

Niko.. Niko Niko Niko. You are a son of a bitch 😂 The emotional turmoil you’ve put me through made me feel like I was on my worst day of my period. I hated you, I loved you, and wanted to have sex with you all within a thirty minute span. Even after of the emotions I felt reading your complicated character, I STILL felt the love you had for Mer from the beginning. Yes, it was toxic and at times I said to myself, “is he going to ever redeem himself?”, but you did. Over and over again.. even if you had to keep some things from Mer to do that.

The twist and turns in this book blew my mind because while you felt there was many, they all interconnected in some way. This book is a perfect intro to 'Dark'. I have read much darker before, but this is dark for Amo.. and I think it was the perfect mix of toxicity from the characters. The characters aren't meant for an insta-love, and it shows.
The ending though made my jaw drop and cannot wait for you all to read it because you’re going to have some questions 🤷🏽‍♀️ but that’s Amo for you, she will keep you on your toes!
