Layer Upon Layer of Intrigue, Mystery and Suspense... with a few surprises thrown in
Remus certainly has his job cut out for him. Those he thought he could trust, turn against him. Strangers he never knew, but should have known, support him. Loyalties are tested, secrets are revealed and betrayal hurts … and the saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies.
Loved watching Luna grow. She definitely needed to grow … in many ways. With all the pain, humiliation, intimidation and rejections she faced throughout her life, that growth had to come in small steps to be believable. This book does just that. It’s full of emotion, but not too much, full of intrigue but not overload, full of drama but drama that’s warranted.
As shown in previous books in this series, whenever you have Luna, Remus and Marnet in the picture you know to expect some ugliness and contention. But this book is about love too, romantic love, a mother’s love, a father’s love. Luna and Remus grow closer. But their love definitely has challenges to overcome, especially with parents and siblings.
👁⌃👁 OBSERVTIONS:
✒︎ This book takes you across the pond to England…. surprise, surprise… and that visit plays an integral role. It takes you back to Oklahoma where Marnet still is up to his usual covert antics, and it has you in Texas with the Silverstreak Pack.
✒︎ Fiona has issues, big issues. She’s an arrogant, prideful control freak. She does the unimaginable and tries to justify it. She believes her own lies. Yes, she mellows out eventually but she needs to learn a lesson or two. She was wrong. Seems like everything she held against Luna is exactly what she did before meeting Remington. Also, where is Fiona’s family? What up with them?
✒︎ Bane…. tsk, tsk. He drank too much Kool-Aid. To me, his thoughts were unfounded. If trying to save a kidnapped pack member from Marnet is ignoring your pack, then what is an Alpha suppose to do? Let her die? Yep, Bane drank too much of Fiona’s Kool-Aid.
✒︎ Loved Nic and Eli…. new characters introduced that play a VERY important role. Nuff said, I don’t want to give spoilers but hope to see more of them in the future….
✒︎ Enjoyed hearing Luna’s mother, Josie, read the right-act to Arden, Luna’s dad. Can’t call him a father since there was nothing fatherly about him. He needs to do tons of groveling … and Lynn, the stepmother, needs a real comeuppance. Pride goeth before the fall.
✒︎ Hope to read more about Fiona and Nic in the future???? Eli too.
✒︎ Appreciate how the author didn’t mess up the book with pages of bedroom gymnastics. There were a couple of intimate scenes but not overki11 page fillers.
✒︎ Also appreciate there was no blasphemous profanity.
