I betrayed him…and spied on him for the enemy.

What he doesn’t know is… I was forced to do it.

Now I have to choose. My life or my heart?

So I promise myself I won’t fall for him.

It’s an impossible vow.

He's fifteen years my senior.

Every sinful command that flies past his lips makes me crave him more.

And no matter what, he protects me—even from his family who doesn’t trust me.

If only I wasn’t living a lie.

(CRAZED is book three in Mafia Wars New York. It's an age gap, betrayal, Dark Mafia romance, interconnecting stand-alone, and guaranteed to have an HEA.)

*Thank you to Give Me Books PR & the author for an ARC of this title.*

Well, here we are again with Mafia Wars: New York. This time we are with Massimo Marino and his lady love, Katiya, who has some disturbing connections to the Marino enemies. In previous books we have seen the Marino men questioning Massimo and his trust in Katiya.

This romance has betrayal and secrets looming over it and I was very anxious for good parts of the story. The author knows how to keep you on edge. We find out why Katiya is connected to said enemies and why she is scared to come clean with Massimo, believing that he could never forgive her. So she sees death on both sides and is barely holding it together.

The saddest part of her plight is that she is deeply in love with Massimo and they match each other in so many ways. He is ready to give her the world, if only she is brave enough to admit the truth to him.

As always, the author writes amazing chemistry between the characters and their intimate scenes and steamy times are brilliant. There are some new toys and some new k!nks for us to explore. Katiya is always submitting and begging for more and more punishment and for her... it has this edge of truth because she DOES feel guilty for the secrets she's keeping, even if she doesn't think there is a clear way out of her lies.

I enjoyed quite a bit about this story and as always, Maggie writes a very readable story that just flies by.

My main dislike in this one is that Katiya comes across as having no agency to me. She is a pawn of the enemy and is so paralyzed by his threats that she won't trust the man who owns her heart. I kept waiting for her to grow some lady balls and get the truth out there. The way this happens in the story was not completely satisfying to me because I don't feel like any part of her admission was of her own free will. Even though I DID like how Massimo reacted and handled everything.

So all in all, it was a good time, and I look forward to Tristiano's story.

I really like the pace of Crazed and the chemistry between Katiya and Massimo burns white hot. There were numerous times that I pictured myself in Katiya's place. 💥💥 Mmm....

He's my quicksand. I'd happily drown in him forever. There's no pulling myself out. Instead of staying focused on my task, all I can do is fall further.
-- Katiya Nikitin

For a good portion of the book, I was chomping at the bit wondering when the truth would surface and how Massimo would respond. All I can say is that it wasn't how I expected but it was definitely an intriguing surprise. It is NOT the only surprise to make an appearance!

There are a couple of areas that don't align with Immoral. While initially a little confusing, they aren't deal breakers and I was still able to enjoy the tale as it was. That said, this could be read as a standalone but would be better enjoyed in series order.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

UPDATED 7/2022:
I'm adding audio with two familiar narrators, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross. I love Kai's and Wen's accents for Tully, Katiya, and other characters. Wen just doesn't feel like a good fit for Massimo. He's still one of my favorite narrators, though.

I have to admit I’m so disappointed with Massimo and Katiya’s characters. They were just really annoying and super bland. Massimo turned out to be so stupid it almost doesn’t make sense how he’s managed to stay alive in the crime world for nearly 40 years. And Katiya is just very “oh I love you so much and know how powerful you are and could probably save me from the assholes that have me spying on you, but I think I’ll spy and woe is me myself to death”. I also really didn’t like the way Massimo treated his family over this piece of ass (😂).

I absolutely adored beyond adored the first two books so I’m extremely surprised that I don’t like this book but that’s the way the cookie crumbles folks.

As for the steam, it didn’t hit the spot because 1. I didn’t like the characters and 2. I found I couldn’t connect with Katiya after knowing she was consciously deceiving poor Massimo.

A great example of why I eventually put the book down and said “nuh, not doing it” is the bit where Katiya and Massimo discuss the HR handbook and rules…over and over again. That shit was dry as hell.

DISCLAIMER: In saying everything I’ve said, this is obviously MY personal opinion and my take of the book. There’s been many times I’ve read books that others have rated super low and had horrible reviews for and I personally ended up loving those books. So with that said, I would say, read the book and make up your own mind, maybe I just wasn’t in the headspace for it. I understand and respect how hard authors works on these books and my opinion is in no way a judgement of the author.

Crazed is the third installment in the Mafia Wars New York Series. Its also a series where we see the connection to the Mafia Wars. I do recommend reading the Mafia Wars series first before this series as they are connected to each other. I adored the way that we see this romance grow. This has some elements in it that I really loved seeing. This romance we have been seeing teased in the previous book. I will be honest I wanted to wring the family's necks here in this one. The way that the brothers treat the hero, just was hard to see. Even if they were right, it was heartbreaking to see them not have faith in him and that we see him debate whether to go at life on his own with the woman he loves. Now there is a big secret here in the story.

There is a big secret that the heroine is keeping from the secret, she has been abused by the Abruzzo family and forced to give them information. What I did like is that the secrets isn't kept all the way through the book, it does come out earlier than I had expected. I really appreciated how the hero handles the truth and the way that he knows that there is more to it then meets the eye. It was really interesting to see this story come together and how it put some pieces in places and leave us hanging with a serial cliffhanger, and I am really interested to see Tatiano's book.

Overall I had a blast with Crazed and I am kinda sad that I am almost finished with the books so far!

These are getting skeevier

The Ivanov series was so much better. This is mostly degrading and brutal sex scenes.
And I abhor sex scenes where the woman calls the man, Daddy. Cringe.
More sex than mafia business in this one.

It’s an impossible vow. I was really looking forward to the third book in this series, Massimo had played a large part in the other books and I was waiting for his story. Unfortunately I just could not get into it, for me there was no chemistry between the characters and Massimo didn't seem to be the same person in this book as I had expected. I will keep reading the series I guess sometimes we just can't like every book we read.

I think Massimo and Katiya's story is the most kinky and steamy in the whole series. Crazed by Maggie Cole was extremely hot and the suspense was presented in a slow burn style.

Massimo Marino fell for the sweet librarian even after his family repeatedly telling him that Katiya works for their biggest enemy in mafia world, the Abruzzos. He can only see the broken vulnerable woman but little does he know that Katiya has a mission to extract information from him as the Abruzzos would kill her or do worse otherwise.

Please don't get me wrong, I love kinky hot dirty sex like any smut lover but in this book, the sex was hindering the progress of this story. We have prolonged bdsm sex scenes while I was dying to see what will happen when Katiya's secrets will come out. And when it did, it was kind of anticlimactic. Massimo is portrayed as a dominating alpha who is ruthless in business so it was very hard to believe and accept that he would keep on trusting Katiya so blindly when his brothers and father kept on asking him to be careful. He could have found out the secrets much earlier and easier without jeopardizing his family. I understand Katiya's struggles. She has been broken and ruined and she survived so much. She couldn't finally betray Massimo. It was fast paced and action packed. I loved how Massimo accepted Katiya so easily even when her deceits were exposed. He is really caring and protective and I loved it.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: forced deception
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Crazed is the super hot third chapter of Maggie Cole’s Mafia Wars, New York series. It could be read as a stand-alone, but would be best enjoyed in read in series order. It is told in first person, from dual perspective. Crazed is the story of Massimo Marino and Katiya Nitkitin, a woman planted against her will by Massimo’s enemies to learn his family secrets. Katiya wants to tell Massimo her secret, but her jailer is also her longtime abuser and her deep seeded fear remains too much of an obstacle.

Wow!! What an intense roller coaster ride from page one! Crazed is well written, moves quickly, and the story grips you as you wait for Massimo to find out about Katiya’s deception and hope for a way ahead for them. The smexy times are super hot and contain some BDSM and a bit of a praise/daddy kink that nearly lit my kindle on fire, lol. The only thing I wish the book would have included was a flashback of their initial meet cute, just because one of my favorite parts of a couples’ journey. The epilogue teaser for the next book looks fantastic and I can’t wait to read Tristano and Pina’s book!

⛔️ My bookshelves can sometimes contain spoilers

5 stars doesn’t feel enough! I have not met a Maggie Cole book that I haven’t loved, Crazed is no exception. Maggie Cole did not give me a moment to breath, the intensity was from beginning to end and the chemistry between Massimo and Katiya was fire 🔥. I cant wait for Tristano and Pina's story.

Crazed is book 3 in the Mafia Wars NY series and it did not disappoint this reader!
I love age gap stories, and this was that and so much more! To go along with the age gap troupe, Maggie gave us lots of steamy bits, betrayal, action, plenty of nightmare inspiring torture and love like no other!
Katiya was broken, or so she thought. My heart and soul ached for Katiya. She felt she had no choice in the things she did, and Massimo showed her that despite her actions, she was worthy of his love and trust.
Massimo started out as a character that I was not too sure about, but then he showed us the love and devotion he has for Katiya and that he would put aside and do anything for her.
This series continues to get better and waiting for the next book to come out almost impossible!

I know it hasn't been that long before getting Massimo's story, and yet, with all the teasing & chaos of his supporting cast present with Katiya, it feels like it's been forever as I've been desperately anticipating it. Of course this is the brilliant Maggie Cole, so it went way past my expectations as he didn't act like I thought he would as Katiya's secrets that don't make friends started to unravel. It was also nice to get the story after he fell hard for her as now we are seeing the fight he puts up to keep her, especially against his family. Obviously that means there are twists upon twists, but let me tell you, these two are out of control hot when together like you wouldn't believe. I LOVE this dark but sexy mafia family (I'll never think about cutting pizza normally again that's for sure), and yes, I know that I'm keeping this short but it's because I won't be able to do justice at what I experienced, AND I don't want to give anything away. You'll never go wrong with a Maggie Cole book, so just hit those one click buttons as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Crazed by Maggie Cole is a dark age gap mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott. This is the third book in the Mafia Wars New York series.

I absolutely love Maggie's books! She does an amazing job pulling me into the story. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Katiya and Massimo. Their relationship was messy, but you couldn't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Carnal to be released on August 15, 2022 so I can get Tristano and Pina's story.

Wen and Kai did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, mafia romances, age gap romances, or romantic suspense.

Crazed

i enjoyed this don't get me wrong, but I think this is the weakest MC book I've read so far. It's not bad by any means, but the first two books in this series were vastly superior. I am however excited for Tristano's story. And to see what else is next in NY.

Massimo’s story was 🥵🥵
He has fallen in love with the Librarian (who everyone hates because she was working there while his sister was be held captured).
Everyone kept telling him to stay away from Katiya but he wouldn’t listen.

Katiya’s life is being threatened and she has to betray Massimo so she can save herself but she is so in love with him that she is caught between a rock and a hard place.

Their love life is Spicy as Hell🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
She loves being the Submissive and being tied up and just 🥵🥵🥵

Oh wow! 10 stars with no hesitation!! Absolutely loved this book. Massimo and Katiya will have you so worked up you won’t be able to put the book down. Katiya is made to betray Missimo but can she live with herself if she goes through it? Can Massimo handle it if she does. Why I did love the most s out this book is the family closeness. I really felt like I was there with the family the whole time. Love the characters & all the angst!

Disappointed

Books less interesting as series progresses but amount of sex increases to take up eighty percent of the written word. Little to zero plot mafia or otherwise in this one but instead is a treatise on an extreme dominant, subjugative BDSM relationship.

Another Unwise Marino Brother, lacking good judgment!

They all say they are in love, but it seems like lust rules the day with these Marino brothers! Love shows up at some point, I guess, but the kinky sex obscured it most of the time. Massimo and Katiya kicked it up a notch, as they are into BDSM & Role Play, then gets a kick out of exposing themselves to like purveyors or perverts, however they classify it! Then, they get so emotional about anybody crossing them or their women, to the point that it obscures good judgment and wise decisionmaking! They could do more if they were not so cocky and hot headed! 🙄

Good book but the first 2 were better.

I had a bit of trouble getting into this book as much as the other two brothers. I don’t know why it was hard but I did enjoy the story. I think it was because I was aware she was doing stuff she shouldn’t. Will be getting the next one.

Intense, sexy, and drool worthy Massimo knows how to dominate Katiya in the bedroom. These two are what relationship goals should be. Having to overcome suspicion, will Katiya get away from the danger she faces everyday. Or will Massimo's family come between them. Are you ready for a book that you will want to reread and drool over, then pick this book up.

Each of these Marino brothers keeps getting better and better. I think that the author has definetly upped her Mafia game in this series.

Each and every book has these amazing storylines and it makes you want to keep reading and then next thing you know you are at 100% and wishing there was more.

Just when you think there is no way the author can come up with new torture devices for the dungeon she surprises you in this book!

This book is HOT, to me it is one of the more steamy ones she has written. Whenever I read a Maggie Cole book I know there are a few things I am always going to get:

1. Hot, steamy scenes that make you reach for a cold glass of water
2. Strong, alpha male main characters that would do anything to protect their woman
3. Fierce women who face adversity but with the right friends and family by her side can overcome anything.
4. A storyline that makes you crave the next book in the series!

Massimo and Katiya’s story in Crazed is no exception. Once you start this one you won’t want to stop reading that’s how well the author pulls you into this world and her stories! Highly recommend this book, this series is turning out to be another stunning addition to Maggie Cole’s arsenal.

Omg Maggie has done it again. Massimo and Katiya’s story is hot hot hot. It’s got a bit of everything. I love the way this series intertwines with her earlier mafia war books as well as introducing the next chapter in the series. Not going to give away any spoilers but I recommend that when you read this book you set aside time as you will not want to put it down. Now for Tristan’s and Pinas story.

💋💋💋

These characters are just as entertaining and Alpha as their Irish and Russian counterparts.
And once you read this you’ll agree that Massimo is the over the top, head of the line, leader in his antics.

This book is very much full of Massimo’s strong D’s characters and Katiya is a very willing Sub.
The two of them will leave your book pages scorched and you perspiring within the first few chapters.

Great writing from Maggie Cole, though I would have loved to have a little more action out of the bedroom and on the streets between the mobs.
Still I loved it so I can’t really complain much.

Let me start by saying that I have read the first 12 books in this series, so I enjoy the basic storyline and family dynamics. The violence in the series adds to the overall Alpha dynamic of the MMC of each story. This is a storyline about Mafia and of course there is a lot of depraved violence and torture of rivals, but again for the storylines it makes sense. I will always look at a pizza cutter a little different from now on. To be fair some of the spicy scenes in other books were also a bit much for me, but who am I to yuck their yum? Of course with what these characters do and the power that they hold they are not going to be vanilla in the bedroom.

Many of the FMC in other books were SA victims, but their partners took the time to take care of them, get them counseling, support them. Yes, this is all fictional and a fantasy but we all want our partners to care about our feelings and our emotional well being. There is nothing hotter in a MMC (or real life partner) who is ready to take out a threat for the FMC or you and also validate your feelings.

In this story Massimo has a 15 year advantage over Kaitya and with her spending the last 9-10 years being more or less held against her will she is very, very naive which makes her even more immature. So when he decides he wants her while in some instances it feels very Alpha and in control in others it is just way too overbearing. The spicy scenes were just too out of bounds and one in paraticular was just beyond vile. To go from some bondage to complete domination and torture so quickly in this story just did not make sense wtih the timeline.

The scene at his apartment with the machine was actually horrifying and I had to put the book down for awhile. There is no way that Massimo felt any sort of love or caring for his partner in that instance. The fact that he did that after what was supposedly done to her at the hands of Ludis and Leo just made no sense what so ever. Again, I am not trying to yuck anyone's yum, but he wanted to torture and eliminate these people for what she suffered through and then he does these revolting acts. I kept waiting for Massimo to redeem himself and show that she was more that just an object of his crazed obsession, but that never happened.

Massimo showed his vulnerabiltiy at times and his fears, but he never showed that he truly loved her as a whole person. The object of his desire- yes, but a woman with deep seated issues never. The HEA in this story was so off base that I could not reconcile it. It also felt like this book was very rushed, almost an after thought to try and tie some of the other storylines together.

So sadly I had to give this a 1 star because of the treatment of Kaitya by Massimo and that revoltingly vile machine scene. I hope the next installment of this series is better.

More Mafia Wars Brilliance! Great Story & Listen🎧

Crazed
Mafia Wars New York, Book 3
By: Maggie Cole
Narrated by: Wen Ross, Kai Kennicott

Maggie Cole turns up the heat for her third novel set in her amazing “Mafia Wars New York” series, an age gap, Dark Mafia romance that will take you to the edge of your seat, eager to see what happens next. I have been looking forward to Massimo and Katiya’s story since I first met them and holy moly, what a story it is. Katiya has not had the easiest of lives and her current situation is not a good one, she lives in fear and is stuck between lying to the man she loves and the ones who control her. It just so happens the ones who control her are enemies of the Marinos and Massimo’s family know she has some kind of history or involvement with the Abruzzos and they do not trust her. But Massimo loves her and refuses to believe anything they have to say about her. I admired Massimo for his conviction but I wanted him to see what he refused to see, I also wanted to smack some sense in to Katiya, I get she was damaged and programmed to fear those who controlled her life but she needed to grow a pair and put her trust in the man she loved. I could not put this book down, it was great to watch these two navigate their relationship, the push and pull, the angst, the drama, the thrilling suspense, the steamy times and the heartfelt emotions, all leading up to a meant to be romance. Maggie Cole, thank you for another brilliant story and emotional rollercoaster ride. And that ending, oh my, I am looking forward to what happens next in this amazing series.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Maggie Cole cast the perfect narrators to bring her characters and story to life. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that suited that character’s persona and was believable in every role they played. Kennicott nailed it as Katiya, she grasped all sides of her personality, her insecurities and fear, she also did a great job with her Russian accent. Ross played Massimo’s role with perfection, alphatude and all. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These two entertaining storytellers make a great team, their narration enhances an already brilliant story to another level. Thank you for another awesome listen, it is always a pleasure to listen to your audiobooks.

Book three in the Mafia Wars New York series brings us Massimo and Katiya’s story, and it’s an absolutely compelling read. This book jumps right into the action from the start when we find that Katiya is being forced to get important intel on Massimo and his family’s business in order to give it to the man who still holds her captive as his pawn. It’s clear from the beginning that it’s not a role she wants to have to play, but what other choice does she have? This is a complex mafia romance where things aren’t necessarily what they might seem to be for the characters, and it traces follows Massimo and Katiya on their difficult journey to finally find their happily ever after no matter the cost.

Something Cole does especially well is that she writes these sincerely flawed characters that might be questionable at times and have you wondering if there’s a good guy (or woman) in the story. It’s something that I love about her writing, because it speaks to the notion that these characters aren’t ever just existing in either the black or white but rather the gray area, which feels more genuine. The complexity of these characters is what ultimately makes for a book that I couldn’t get enough of. These characters aren’t what one would classically qualify as good or bad, and I think that’s exactly what makes them so interesting.

Together, Massimo and Katiya have seriously hot chemistry, but there is so much threatening their relationship and their trust in one another. Yes, Katiya is working for a rival group, but then how will Massimo react if he finds out? While I wish she would’ve been stronger on her own terms, it makes sense that she couldn’t be. She’s a deeply damaged character, and everything she’s suffered through keeps her living in fear and doubting herself. The empathy I wound up feeling for Katiya sort of surprised me, and in the end I just wanted to see her find some modicum of peace. I felt so badly for what her character had gone through and needed to see what would become of her, and I think she’s especially what kept me captivated by this book.

This is another great addition to this series. If you’re looking for a dark, steamy, and totally gripping mafia romance, Crazed is it.

Hotness abounds in Craved. Massimo and his dolce, Katiya, set the pages on fire with their escapades, in and out of the bedroom. It doesn't matter where they are, no place is sacred when they want to exhibit how much they desire each other. This is a tale of untruths, betrayal, lies, seduction and love. Two people who could spell the end of each other if the truth is ever learned.

Massimo Marino may be one of the younger sons in this criminal empire but he definitely isn't the least of them. The ruling New York crime family doesn't let anyone tell them what they can or can't do. When it comes to who they love, they don't follow the rules and Massimo is no exception. If they want to pick someone who the rest of the family believes is an enemy, then by all means, they will love them with all their heart. His family is dead set against who his heart has picked for him to love believing she has betrayed their family in the past. Katiya Nikitin is being forced by the Abruzzo crime family to get the goods on Massimo but there's a slight problem. She fell in love with him and can't find a way out of her predicament. She doesn't want to hurt him or his family. The Abruzzos have threatened to kill her if she doesn't do as she has been ordered. She has to make a hard choice, get the information on Massimo's family business or forfeit her life. Massimo knows she's withholding something from him and makes the decision to force the truth from her when he whisks her away. He swears to protect her from the other family, even giving up his own life if he has to in her protection. Katiya is his and no one is taking her away from him. Drastic measures are necessary and Massimo isn't afraid to pull out all the stops.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat, turning pages as fast as I could read and dreading the moment it would end. The action never ends and you get sucked into the words and the mafia world when you read a Mafia Wars book.
