Carly thinks Damian Scott is the bossiest of bossy bodyguards. If it wasn’t for her brother, who believes she’s in serious danger, she could be free from Damian’s controlling overbearing self. Even worse, he keeps trying to insist that she’s got a little girl inside her, just waiting to come out. As if!
Damian doesn’t know what he sees in Carly Sterling. Sure, she has a great career as a top-tier makeup artist, but she’s also a stubborn, mouthy brat. Too bad his heart knows that she’s “the one.” Now he just has to convince her.
Carly has learned that it's not safe to show the hidden parts of herself - it always ends badly. Can she learn to trust Damian, not only to protect her but to care for her and love her?
Trusting Her Daddy can be read as a standalone. However, you may enjoy the story more if you read the first four books in the series first. This story includes age play between consenting adults, including spankings and discipline. Please do not purchase this book if you find this material offensive.
Kate Oliver has aspired to be an author all her life. From the time she was known as "that girl who always has her nose stuck in a book", Kate Oliver has wanted to be a writer. Currently, fetish romance is her favorite for both reading and writing. Kate has been a part of the fetish community for many years, and strives to write stories that realistically reflect that lifestyle. Her favorite part of writing her own books is dreaming up the hot and steamy, yet loving and strict, Daddies that Littles dream about.

This review is really for all five books about the Seattle-based Daddy Doms of The Playground and their Littles. Although each is a standalone in terms of the relationship, characters from all the books appear throughout. In terms of Age Play, only Ally's Christmas Daddy had diaper play; the others had what I would call medium Age Play (onesies, pacifiers, stuffies, but not diapers or enemas). Side Note: I really appreciated the disclaimers and trigger warnings the author provides for each book; I wish more would do that.
I had mixed feelings about this series because while it was consensual; the women did have a safeword; the men were possessive/protective; and the women supported one another, I had at least one problem with each serious enough that I'm not sure I'll read anything else from this author.
My Concerns:
1) Ally's Christmas Daddy: ABDL is not my kink, but I appreciated the disclaimer in the blurb. Didn't Read.
2) Haylee's Hero Daddy: Kane protects a woman on the run from her abusive boyfriend. Domestic discipline is tricky when the MFC is a victim of domestic abuse. No author does it well and while I'm willing to suspend some disbelief due to fiction's compressed time lines, Kane was paddling a woman within weeks of a severe beating. Between that and the fact that he told her that a safeword wouldn't "get her out of a punishment" (which means that the punishments were abusive and illegal since she had no way to withdraw consent), I was done. 1 1/2 stars.
3) Maddie's Daddy Crush: Ian falls for his best friend's younger sister. While I appreciated that Maddie had a career, that she was up front about her needs and wants, and the treatment of mental health issues, Ian sent her so many mixed signals that in her place I never would have trusted him. In addition, the fact that all the other men just decided that Maddie was Ian's without consulting her was grating -- as was Ian's pathological over-protectiveness. Some plot holes in Maddie's backstory will continue in the next book. 2 1/2 stars.
4) Safe with Daddy: Sean takes in Gabby, the victim of childhood sexual abuse. Atypically for this genre, Sean takes the relationship very slowly; thus, in some ways this was more believable than the others since he does earn her trust before "disciplining" or having sex with her. I found parts of this touching since he had his own vulnerabilities (the hardened military special ops dominant MMC common to this genre gets old after a while) and it's impossible not to feel for Gabby. That said, Gabby was so damaged that I often felt that I was reading about an actual child; therefore, the sex was unpleasant for me. I did appreciate that Age Play was offered as a coping mechanism, not a cure, and that Gabby did see a therapist. Plot holes regarding some of Gabby's backstory exist. 3 stars.
5) Trusting Her Daddy: Bodyguard Damian protects make-up artist Carly when she's targeted by her ex. I had a lot of problems with this book, in part because it contained all my pet peeves about this genre and one hard limit. Damian and Carly's brother force the proximity on her (the brother hires Damian without Carly's consent); indeed, Damian comes on so strongly initially that it's only by the magic of fiction that Carly doesn't call the police when he strong-arms her into moving into his house. Other pet peeves include double-standards (the men can swear, but the women can't because, I don't know, women are supposed to be ladies?) and spanking someone non-consensually in front of other people (Carly was perfectly right to be upset about this and the fact that she apologized to him later set my teeth on edge). But what really bothered me was my hard limit regarding involving non-romantic family members in D/s. Damian sharing details of the relationship with Carly's brother and the brother explicitly telling Damian to spank her without getting Carly's consent were beyond squicky. That said, I did appreciate that unlike the other Little characters, Carly was an autonomous adult with a demanding career and that Damian supported it. 1 1/2 stars.
I had three other problems with the series. First, all the bad guys are bad -- as in foaming-at-the-mouth, twirling-their-mustache bad. I can't take any character this OTT seriously. Second, even in DD/lg, I like my MC to at least have an occasional adult conversation and rarely did that happen here. Finally, what was the obsession with everyone going to the bathroom?
The prose was okay -- I caught some typos, but not many -- more serviceable than evocative.
Those who like relatively consensual detailed Age Play featuring MMCs who always put their women first may enjoy this series. Side Note: Not sure what the purpose of the kink club was since so little action occurs there.
Update: I don't know how I missed it when I was reading the books, but the author says in her bio that she's a member of the fetish community and committed to depicting it realistically. The amount of non- and dub-con in these books says otherwise.
Let👏Rina👏read👏a👏normal👏book👏 but here I am again pushing off everything else. Whatever doesn't matter because my best friend is coming over this weekend hehehe. Anyway I'm gonna finish this series and then try normal books again later. But for realsies this book was just as dramatic but the fucking plot made SENSE for it to be that dramatic.
Absolutely loved this book great story and dynamic a must read Carly was so funny in this book definitely a brat to her daddy but it was super fun to read and watch how there relationship bloomed into such a great story.
1.5* Boring, dull and I didn’t like either of them that much.
Wow that was dull! Seriously boring and it dragged on and on. NOTHING HAPPENS! Damien in other books sounds like a really great guy, and in Gabby and Sean’s book he was lovely to her. So why is he such an arse to Carly?
When Carly has had her windows smashed in her shop and car, her brother Grayson feels like she’s in danger. He phones his old friend Damien and asks that he protects Carly and become her ‘daddy.’ I didn’t like that! Felt like he was almost handing his sister over to a man he liked. Carly is adamant that she’s not a little, while everyone who knows her thinks she is. Damien moves her into his house, ‘temporarily’ and even when they’re in a relationship and he’s her daddy, he never tells her what she means to him. So she thinks that it’s only a temporary thing. Damien tells everyone that he speaks to that: “He was roped into looking after Carly, and protecting her.” When she’s sat in the car with him, he says to one of his security men, (That is also a daddy.) that he has his ‘principal’ in the car with him. Not his principal and his little! Then he wonders why she doubts his feelings for her. Erm……. 🙄🙄🙄
Then there’s Carly who did make me laugh with her antics, but at times she acts like a brat, and yes I know she had a bad marriage.
It wasn’t enjoyable and I am disappointed as I loved Sean and Gabby. This one was boring, and yet again, HOW OLD ARE THEY???? So frigging annoying…..
Top-tier makeup artist Carly Sterling's brother believes she is in serious danger and so to please him she accepts the services of Damian Scott as her bodyguard, but she thinks he is the bossiest and has a controlling and overbearing self. He insists that she is a Little but she is in denial however he knows that even though she is a stubborn and mouthy brat she is also the one for him - he just needs to convince her. Carly has learned that it's not safe to show the hidden parts of herself - it always ends badly. Can she learn to trust Damian, not only to protect her but to care for her and love her?
I enjoyed this story with the stubborn and determined Carly and the tolerant but firm Damian they were definitely a match made in heaven. I loved the way that he and his staff were determined to keep her safe even though she still didn't appreciate the danger that she was in. A lovely ending to the story where she finally got everything. and appreciated what she was and had. Easy to read and understand. Contains mature content of a BDSM DDLG nature.
okay this one was very cute!! I loved damian from the beginning & it could possibly be bc he is kane’s brother. absolutely LOVE that about him. they are a duo I absolutely love.
damian gets tasked to be a bodyguard from a brother in arms little sister. damian agrees to it & once he meets the little sass he immediately knows he’s got his hands full & wants nothing more than to tame this little girl while also helping her from her crazy powerful ex. carly doesn’t let damian get away with it that easily tho & throws up all her barriers before breaking down & giving him anything, but damian likes a challenge & she doesn’t know what she’s gotten herself into
tropes: ddlg, age play, age gap, friends little sister, tough daddy
Damian - is a bodyguard and runs security - the perfect job for a protective Daddy. When he is asked to look after his friends little sister he agrees not knowing she’s someone he’s had his eye on. Carly has left an abusive marriage to a powerful man but he’s still out to hurt her and that’s why she needs Damian.
The two together mean sparks fly and it’s lovely to see Carly come out of her shell and let out everything she’d had to suppress during her marriage. Whilst there are communication issues and she’s still in danger from her ex watching their relationship grow was wonderful. We already know Damian can be a sweetie from his appearances in previous books in the series but he’s even better when he has his own Little.
Carly and finally Damians book. Was so happy he finally had his story told. Carly, we met her back in Maddie and Ian's book. She was a makeup artist. I know a lot say these books can be read standalone I don't recommend the couples from the other books make appearances in the books. I myself would feel lost and want to know who these other people were. This one Carly was in danger, and Damian, who ran a security business, was hired by her brother to protect her. It is a Daddy Dom Little girl. If you find it not your thing, don't buy. I loved this book and would highly recommend 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Damian walked Maddie down the aisle, and had a tea party with Gabby, but he didn’t have his own Little to care for. He’s seen Carly a couple times, but never gotten to talk to her, now his chance! Carly has seen Damian and thought he was hot, but after her ex, she’s done with men. Thankfully, her brother puts Damian in charge of her when she needs help. The bad guys in this book feel REALLY bad! I’m very happy with the ending. Sorry Nash was in the middle, but he’s tough and can take it. Loved every minute!
Loved that Damian was paired with Carly a strong willed, makeup artist. Doing Carl's brother Greyson, a favor, by protecting her, from her ex. Just the person, Carly, Damian need, each other. Grayson knows, his sis, is a Little, needs to embrace that side of herself. Due to some attacks on Carly and her business, Damian, and a friend and associate Nash, were able to take down, her ex and a psycho model, who plotted to kill Carly. Carly loved her Little, fell in love with her Daddy, and accepted his proposal.
I honestly loved every minute of this book and the characters had me by my heart strings. Their struggles through life to get to where they are today was inspiring and how much they love each other was heart warming. Warning this book Contains DDlg, spankings and a man who would burn the world down for his Baby Girl. If that’s not something you’re into then don’t read this book; If it’s something you’re interested in then what are you waiting for? Get reading, I promise you won’t regret it!
It was so lovely to read another story in this series. Damian is asked by Carly's brother to protect her from the threat of her ex-husband. The strong Daddy Dom comes over as a strict, harsh man when he basically kidnaps Carly to his home. From here we have the the two butting heads constantly. When Carly realises she is actually a Little, like her brother always said, the sparks really fly. Will Damian protect Carly or will her ex achieve his goal to eliminate her?
I just love a book that leaves you smiling. She a make up artist and he owns a security company. When they meets, she is getting over a divorce and he is guarding her client. Instant attraction. She doesn't realize she's a Little but he does. When her life is threatened, she goes to stay with him to keep her safe. Bullets flying, horrible ex's and love happening all at once. Exciting and so very sweet and loving. Had a great time reading it.
Carly had been denying that she had a Little side to everyone. But with the threats that were coming her way her brother hired Damian to protect her. Their first meeting went off at a bad start but he had Carly living in his home to better protect her. While there he encouraged her to try out her little side and boy oh boy did things take off from there.
This story is delightful. Damian and Carly are a sweet loving couple. Their journey together is adventurous and fun. I love how the author has you wanting book with the secondary characters as well. The writing and flow of this book is done well. I highly recommend this book and series.
Carly and Damian have excellent chemistry! Carly learns to trust another man and finds the Little she was hiding. Damian opens his heart when he thought he would never again. This story kept me hanging on to see the end. Just loved it so much, great job Kate!
This is a very good, well written, DD/lg romance with some serious action. It is part of a series about daddies in Seattle most of them were in the marines together. The characters move among the stories but each story could be read alone. I do not recommend doing. Binge read the set. Read and enjoy.
Such a fun, witty Ddlg love story; full of amazing humour, beautiful descriptions, but also drama, sadness, obstacles; however the steamy paragraphs and the wonderful connections between the other books of the series make it such an entertaining reading.
I loved this story. It was sweet and sassy. I really enjoyed bringing in other couples from previous stories. Bossy and overprotective for a reason, but they just fit together. I liked that she eventually told him, and he liked her answer. A wee bit of some danger, not because of her and what she did after finally had him telling her to stay put. Loved the epilogue !!
Damian the big meanie who doesn't smile has always been one of my favorites. I just love Carly and even though she went through hell and back with James and still held her head up high. She didn't let what he tried to do multiple times scare her. I just also love her brother Grayson. He knew what she needed and went for the best. Awesome read 5 stars
When you have an overprotective brother who is overseas in the military, it's never a good idea to let him know you may be in trouble. Carly ends up with a bossy bodyguard who is also a Daddy and he is convince she is a Little Girl just waiting to come out. I love this story, it is heart warming to see the love of a brother for his sister. This whole series has been amazing to read.
I absolutely loved this story 😍.. Actually the entire series has been great, but Damien & Carly story made me want to read every other book out there by Kate Oliver 😀
What is a Girl supposed to do when someone breaks out the windows in her business? Call her bid Brother of course. He sends Carly the man fit enough to protect her. Damien is a Bodyguard and a Daddy let the fun begin
This series had overall been really great this far, but I have to say this one may be my favorite. Kate Oliver seems to never disappoint. This is the first series I’ve read of hers and I will most definitely be reading others.
I loved reading about Daddy Damian finally getting his Little and HEA!! Carly is so sassy and has a bratty mouth on her but Damian knows just how to balance her wild side. The fun and love they share amidst the danger she’s in, is so sweet!
Another cute DD/lg read. The storyline was exciting and entertaining, and the characters were likable. There are some characters in the story that I hope get their own books. Overall a nice, easy read.
I love Damian and Carly’s story! Carly deserved an amazing Daddy after the way her horrible ex-husband treated her! Damian treated her with respect, love, and protected her like any real Daddy should! I really like Nash as well!
Okay, so I could actually visualize people being this crazy and out to get someone. And I thought her reactions to it were quite real. Liked how they eased into the relationship.
