Finally, the unwritten rules for being a kid have been put to paper! (Or digital ink, whatever.) If I were a famous book reviewer like Mr. Kirkus, Oprah Winfrey, Goodreads.com, or your school librarian, here are some of the snappy one-liners I would write about this book:

-"If childhood came with a rule book, this would be it!"

-"The ultimate authority on things no one thought mattered but actually do!"

-"Finally, a no-nonsense handbook to settle disputes over those times when your brother tries to cheat you out of the last slice of pizza. Okay fine, it has some delightful nonsense but that's what being a kid is all about."

-"Life-changing! My kids don't come to me to settle disputes anymore. Now they just consult the handbook or call the geniuses at Naaah."

But for reals, this delightful book is perfect for siblings, childhood friends, and even adults who always wondered about the rules for calling dibs, jinx, shotgun, and so on. The writing is clever, uproariously funny, and even thought-provoking. It's the kind of book that deserves to be read aloud on a family car trip, used as a consultant when playing games, or even debated among childhood scholars. In fact, the next time there's a territorial dispute between countries (which will probably happen at 1:30 p.m. today), maybe they could just settle it with a friendly thumb wrestle, or by drawing an invisible line, or calling dibs. Makes about as much sense as the way adults handle those situations, wouldn't you say?

I give this book two thumbs up, and I'm not crossing my fingers!

The guide on how to handle these and other tricky social situations. For example, say you’re meeting five friends at the movies and you’re the first one to arrive. How many seats can you save? What can you use to save those seats? Can you still save them after the movie starts? Or, do you have to let them go when the lights dim? Don’t lose sleep worrying about it. This book has the answers.

This humorous book is the perfect gift for families with kids! I'm giving this great holiday gift to a bunch of friends whose kids, like mine, fight over who sits where in the car, can't agree on how to play "The Floor is Lava," and say, "It's not fair!" way too much.

Funny, nostalgic
Laugh-out-loud approach to settling the rules for the games and contests kids play. This book was a trip down memory lane for me, recalling all the arguments I had with my siblings. Too bad I didn’t have this book then!

I bought this for my sister because we spent our childhood fighting about this stuff. She loved it.
