This book provides you with fun and challenging questions, whether you want to quiz yourself or your family. Learn something new every day and surprise your circle of friends and colleagues!
Knowing stuff makes you a cool and interesting interlocutor. You will always have an icebreaker at hand to start a conversation or to keep it going by dropping a weird fact.
I covered a wide range of topics and intentionally made the questions assorted, so you will not know what sort of fact is coming. As I would do myself, you can choose to read as many facts as you please in one sitting, or even just one fact each day! You could use this collection when preparing for a pub quiz or quiz night at work or at home. All the questions are well-researched and family-friendly.
Born in Bulgaria, I have lived in places like Germany, Belgium and Iraq, before settling down with my family in Luxembourg. With varied interests, I have always suffered from an insatiable appetite for facts stemming from an unrestrainable intellectual curiosity. It has certainly influenced my academic background and career: after acquiring Master degrees in Greek Philology, German and English Translation, I graduated in Crisis Management and Diplomacy and, most recently, undertook an MBA.
My career has been equally broad and diverse, swinging from that of an army paratrooper and a military intelligence analyst; through to that of a civil servant with the European Commission, and presently, that of a clerk, performing purely financial tasks in a major bank. Member of MENSA.
Some of the answers in here actually surprised me. A substitute for vanilla for one. Yeah. There was even some modern day stuff, so this has been updated. I found it interesting, gross, shocking, and I learned a few things. It was pretty cool. It’s structured so that you can do one question a day, but I liked just reading it. It does have pictures on a lot of things too; small ones. It was like trivia to me; some of it worth hearing on Jeopardy and a little of it I’m thinking would be something from a not so tasteful Source. 3.5-4
An interesting book, although with the questions and the answers in the same place, it is more informative than questioning. A pretty good source of information but only really handy if you have kids or need to ask questions during a meeting of some kind.
365 interesting facts. Arranged in chapters by month with a fact for each day. Facts were widely varied. The only complaint I have is that some repeated from a previous book.
This is such a fun book! Each day has different question and answer that boost your knowledge and trivia skills. I love it! One of my favorite new tid-bits of knowledge was "What live animal did Russians put in milk to keep it fresh?" "A brown frog. Historically, Russians believed that putting a frog in their milk would keep it fresh. A recent study proved that some chemicals in the frog's skin indeed inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi". WHAT? Who knew?! This has also been so fun to go through with my two boys who also love trivia and learning new facts about our world.
Thank you to the publishers and author for the ARC in exchange for my honest reveiw.
Great, fun read! I love these types of books because you learn a random fact every day. It doesn't even matter what year it is; as long as you follow the dates, you have a new fact or question. It was entertaining for me. I did read this whole book in a few days, but it didn't make it any less exciting for me. Highly recommend!
**Received this book in a giveaway. A huge thank you to Kostov and Goodreads. All thoughts and opinions are my own and are in no way influenced by this giveaway.**
This was presented in question and answer format. The questions were easy to understand and cover a wide variety of topics. The answers were mostly one or two words long which made this and interesting read.
I enjoy these type of books as they provide me with some interesting topic when getting together with friends for a meal. I try no to overdo it as I don’t want to bore my friends and quit getting invited to their homes.
This is a clever book with 365 questions, one for each day of the year. There are some interesting facts included in the book that I never would have thought of asking.
Interesting little book which is good for a quick browse or read a daily fact or read in one go. Unfortunately I found one definite error (possibly a fact checking error) which made me wonder whether the other facts were correct so I have taken off one star for that. The error is on 1st September's fact in that Sulla was not a Roman emperor, he was actually a dictator. The emperors did not start until Augustus approximately 50 years later.
This is more geared towards children, as opposed to adults. It is neither good nor bad, it just is what it is, as the saying goes. This was not my type of book. I would rate it rather low (1 or 2), because I was not impressed by its contents by any stretch of the imagination. I will, however, give it a 3 because it was not aimed toward me as a target audience. It may be of interest to someone out there who has a family and are trying to get their kids to converse with them.
I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway. The formatting in this book is awful. Some of the answers have way too much information, and others not enough. The wording is off in some questions and answers. I didn't like the side comments such as "earlier than most people believe." Just stick to the facts.
Great book for people who love trivia. Although I've played team trivia for many years, this book contained a lot of interesting facts I didn't know. You can learn one fact a day for an entire year or a bunch at once.
I found the questions very interesting and entertaining. I had to actually look several things up to get more information. It would make a great trivia game
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. There were some interesting facts in the book but it wasn't really enjoyable to read. The phrasing of the questions and answers makes it read like a textbook and made it difficult to want to read more than a few at a time.
Although not a read alone novel, I loved this book and would totally love these type of books for the bathroom. Very easily broken up, super interesting, and fast reading sections. A good fill a few minutes at a time read.
