Will she understand in time who is the threat or not …
I have seen the last past releases of the author pass me by, but no room left to read them it is only with this upcoming book I finally am able to discover the author’s work.
Now after reading the blurb, I was a bit afraid the heroine who be a conceited spoiled brat.
Oh she is not an easy woman to like, she likes to play with fire but has some reasons behind her provocative attitudes. As usual, never takes someone at face value. Rejected and belittled by the man who should have been protecting her, she is desperate to escape his clutches and those in the same domineering vein.
Alexander is even less without fault, he is a man with a past and enjoying all the fruits of a bachelor with all the privileges of his sex. And while inside Georgiana has left a mark, he never lets it being seen, playing the careless rake. If not for his actions, he would appear as a rogue. So while he presents himself as a devil-may-care, he is the man set on rescuing her at every turn, even from herself.

This is not a fast paced tale as time and distance were needed for Alexander to understand and accept his feelings, Georgiana misled by her own sense of worth is blind to the man’s actions, preferring to always think the worst of him instead of acknowledging she can have been sometimes in the wrong. So while chemistry burns hot between them, Georgiana still prefers to imagine Alexander as the rake from their first encounter, it prevents her to examine the sentiments he awakens.

Together their journey is not an easy one, Alexander keeping his feelings close to his heart, even if his actions are perfect evidence of them, if Georgina were open to receive them but years of letdowns have altered her perception in others and trust.

All right. So, there was a lot in this novel that I really liked. I thought overall premise to the book was well planned out, and the reactions towards Georgiana’s tendencies were accurate for the time period. The way her father and Elias treated her were (unfortunately), an irritating truth. I also quite liked that Georgiana also had positive people in her life – I loved her aunt and uncle. What I wasn’t completely happy about were the moments of absolute frustration when dealing with the heroine’s decisions.

I can understand her being pampered and perhaps a little bit spoiled, but her rash choices combined with her sheer stubbornness made me want to reach into the pages and shake her. Alexander, on the other hand, was portrayed as nearly selfless after meeting Georgiana while I know he meant well, it felt too over-the-top at times.

Overall though, I still very much enjoyed this book and I liked how the slow burn romance between the two mains was still high in chemistry. I think my frustrations with Georgiana kept me reading as I kept wondering when she’d figure out she was in love with Alexander. Thank you Nicolas Italia for my copy! I received an ARC of Beauty Has Her Way in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

description

I love historic romance. I love the slow burn and their struggles to act like society wants them to during those times. So every now and then I like to go back to the easiness of a good historic romance.

In this story, we have Georgiana Gainsford. The daughter of Jonathan Gainsford, a member of the Parliament. He's embaressed by his daughter's unladylike manners and unwillingness to find a husband so he gives her an ultimatum: Marry or be shipped to the colonies.

Alexander Mayson is a succesful owner of a shipping line and he falls head over heels for Georgiana, even though he didn't notice at first. He acts like it's all a game and their actions take an unexpected turn when they're caught in a bad position for a lady. Georgiana gets shipped off to the colonies, but Alexander goes right behind her determined to bring her back as his wife.

Well, the book is interesting. It's always nice to see different takes on historic romance and I enjoyed this one very much. Especially with her second suitor, who's a puritan that became obesessed with her beauty, however I felt like the author focused too much on a specific plot instead of closing the gaps of the other lines she was pursuing. Which led to a rushed ending.

I wish I could have seen less of her denial and more about her father and wife or what happened to her aunt and uncle or what happened to her best friend after finding out what she did.

Other than that, the book is nice. I liked Alexander and I think he's really responsible and loyal towards those who he is acquainted with. His love for Georgiana is something that cannot be denied either.

So if you're looking for an unusual historic novel, this is the one for you.

Georgiana is the daughter of a cold-hearted and powerful London businessman. Her mother died when she was young, and her father tolerates his daughter only because of her great beauty. At twenty-four, she is unmarried and is the thorn in his side due to her galavanting at the theatre, and socializing with friends he deems inappropriate. A chance encounter with Alexander - a former privateer and now owner of a shipping line - changes her life. Not necessarily for the better. After a scandal, she's shipped to Colonial Boston to live with her aunt and uncle. Alexander can't get her out of his head, and soon follows her there. Can he convince Georgiana his feelings are genuine?

I don't typically read historical romance, but I enjoyed this one. The author painted a rich, detailed picture of the time and place. (Warning: there were a few derogatory terms used by the characters that would have been used in this time period, but would be offensive today). It was very sad that so much of a woman's life was dictated by men, and directly related to her virginity status. There is a huge miscommunication/non-communication trope, and at times I wanted to shout at both characters to just have an honest conversation, already! If you're into historical romance with a touch of spice, then check this one out.

Alexander Mayson is inexplicably drawn to Georgianna Gainsford at first sight in “Beauty Has Her Way” by Nicola Italia. Admittedly, I did not care for Georgianna’s character at first, but began to warm up to her as I learned more of her circumstances. She is not as superficial as I first believed.

Being sent to Boston, away from her horrible excuse of a father and group of self-involved friends was not the worse thing that could happen. Creepy Elias Hackett aside, she experiences the love of family she had been missing while getting to know her Aunt and Uncle.

After dealing with an unexpected crisis in London, Alexander goes to Boston in search of Georgianna. Sparks fly, a rescue takes place, and a bargain is struck. What will be the outcome? That I can’t tell you, but I will ask, “How can you not fall for a man that crosses the ocean for you?” A truly swoon worthy read.

Interesing read

This book is about Georgiana, a young lady who grew up dealing with an unloving father and Alexander, a gentleman her father meets and wants to do business with. They definitely start off on a very rocky relationship and there is much that occurs that has to be deal with but in the end they find their hea.
Mixed feelings on my overall opinion of this book as a whole. I felt at times things/people were alluded to and/or was not completely finished but there were also parts of the story I enjoyed. For instance I was definitely delighted her father, who was so selfish and cruel towards his daughter, got his much deserved consequences. I also enjoyed how they ended up in sweet and happy marriage.

Not what I thought it was going to be about!

As a student of history I found that Ms. Italia takes some liberties with life in this era of British history. I liked the characters and their antics but I had to draw the line when a mistress could even think of speaking to a Lady about her husband's transgressions. Loved seeing how people in the colonies lived. But being from New England and knowing the landscape the trip to Martha's vineyard was a little strange. Still it was an enjoyable and fast reading story.Enjoy!

never disappoints

I have followed Nicola Italian since forever. This Author is one of a kind. Every story contains so much emotion. Beauty has her way is not only thrilling but also such a lovely read. This love story triumphs in its romanticism with just the right amount of tug and pull. I recommend.

This book was annoying. Half way through, I wanted to quit reading. The heroine was incredibly stupid! There were no redeeming qualities. There was also no further development of her friend Madeline and her obnoxious husband. There was also no resolution with her father.

Disappointed

It started off good. At first the main male character appeared to be strong, worldly and experienced. The main female character was immature, whiney and ridiculous. She was like that the whole time until the last chapter. So annoying 🙄

well

The heroine is a whiny fool who makes terrible decisions and then is angry at her rescuer. He’s got some redeeming characteristics, but not enough to balance out how shallow she is.
