Jimmy’s spirit-daughter has awakened, and Heaven and Hell are shaken to their foundations.
Having absorbed the deadly power of the fallen angel Tamiel, Else is a threat to angels and demons alike. To protect her, Jimmy must keep her existence a secret until she and his coven are strong enough to defend themselves.
The answer may lie in an ancient sword the coven is called upon to locate for the demoness Amira – a blade of great power with connections to succubus Katarina and Jimmy’s warrior girlfriend MJ, as well as the shadowy Breamstone Collective.
As the armies of Purgatory lay siege to his dream castle and the efforts to protect Else spin out of control, Jimmy must make a final, fateful decision to forge his own destiny at last.
Apotheosis is the fifth novel in the Demon Hunter series and contains explicit adult scenes and themes of black magic and demonology.
Michael Dalton is a professional journalist and editor.
Michael wrote his first piece of fiction in third grade, for which he was immediately accused of plagiarism by his teacher. Since then, he has been writing more or less steadily, interrupted only by occasional demands of work and family.
Michael lives with his family and multiple pets in Southern California.
This is still a pretty good series. More intellectual than action based fantasy harem. It has a good mix of story, erotica and characters. The chemistry aspect is very interesting. I am not sure if it is legitimate but it sounds like it could be. The MC being bound to a succubus allows him to have incredible stamina so the hour long sex sessions are plausible. He also has control of everything in his dream world so giving his women hour long orgasms is also believable with that setup. Overall a good series. I enjoy this author's work.
4.5 stars. It was still really good, but it was lacking something I can't quite put my finger on. It may be that as much as the group is more than the sum of its parts, the MC seems underpowered relative to his reputation.
That's the impression I get, but without actually studying the book, impressions are what stays with you, accurate or otherwise. Still very good, just a shade off from excellent, so a rounding up is appropriate.
Another good adventure in the life of Jimmy the sorcerer
A problem with most supernatural series is that as the story goes on, the stakes ramp up until they get ludicrous. This is certainly on the cards in Demon Hunter, but so far it still works. If the series goes on another four books though, he is going to be lord of the universe.
Anyway, it's OK this far. A point in its favour is it doesn't become a world solely of gods and superheroes; there are still real people around in the story. In fact, one of the strengths of the series is that the real-world setting has a lot of texture, a real feeling of place. The fictional Southern California town of Santo Domingo, its history, and the people who live there, are integral to the story.
The 20-page orgy scenes feel a bit mechanical to me, but that's so subjective; I guess if you like them, you are going to really like them. The detail of the relationships remains strong, even as the numbers grow.
Definitely a fun romp in the series. Yeah, the power of Jimmy and his family has significantly increased, but the drama is kept rather under control by having most of the action take place in the dream/spirit realm, so the author doesn't have to deal with the fallout of magical battles on the streets of SoCal.
Sex is good. And it is kept varied, which is excellent. The plot moves along quite well and there are a lot of loose ends for the next (last) book.
The story just keeps on going lots of good stuff going on lots of story building and the characters become closer together. Interesting twists in the story about and new characters are being introduced which are very interesting. Can't wait to read the sixth book in the series I hope it comes soon having fun so far.
This series starts out in a blaze and just continues to get hotter. It is one of the most historically intense series I've seen, and it packs a lot of detail into each book. If you like harems, angels, demons and witches, you'll like this series.
Michael Dalton really makes this series work. The dream world Jimmy creates, along with his dream daughter is amazing. The stakes are high when everyone comes after him, his daughter and his harem.
Because Jimmy is bound to a succubus, the steamy sessions are long. When they enter the dream world... whooboy!
It is going to be a long agonizing wait for book 6 in this series but another in this universe will just have to tied us over!!! So many answered questions and so many new ones, it's no wonder this is one of my favorite series!!!
And boy, did it get it right! This has a good conclusion. It does not leave loose ends. But it also allows for another series down the road, what the focus would be is up for grabs. This is a good ending, it is a good series.
I enjoyed this series as a whole. I was a bit disappointed with some of the cut and paste of dialogue in the same or in proximity chapters that were not a part of book transitions.
Okay so there was great payoff with this volume of the story; but it also set up so much more. Now there's going to be a full spin off series....awesome.....hope is Else building her own harem of badass chicks....
I read the first 2 books of Shifter Girls before this. This book was a segue between the 2 series. Really a lot of fun and still plenty of naughtiness for adolescent boy (or those of us who got stuck there).
I honestly can't wait for more of this series The shared universe is spectacular. Hopefully we get more soon and then we can go enjoy what's going on in these crazy peoples lives.
I became interested in this series via audio book, so when I discovered that the only way to enjoy the next book in the series was to actually read it, I did
This series was so enjoyable that I read them all back to back, and lost sleep on most of them. If you like adventure and intrigue along with an erotic harem background you will not be disappointed.
It was kind of boring as the SoL was pretty intense and things just slipped into place without issue. It's cool to see a protagonist win easily after he figured everything out. I'm just not a big mystery fan. Still, it was a good read.
This was another great story from this author. I love the fact that they were able to come to the conclusion it did, but I do hope they continue it in another book, other than the new series that involves some of the side characters from this series. There are still tropes gallore in this series...but it is still an amazing read.
