A blonde. A brunette. A tea lover. A coffee addict. Two people. One pen name. They're pals, besties if you will, maybe even soulmates. Consider them the ultimate in split personality, exactly the same, but completely different.
They love a good laugh, a strong, dominating alpha, but most importantly, know that friendships, the fierce ones, are the key to lifelong sanity and fulfillment.
He fingered her then uses her 💦 to line the rim of this goddamn whiskey glass then drinks from it!!. BITCH!!! I just about passed the hell out.
That’s it, that’s the review. Jk I’ll update closer to release. Add it to your tbr rn.

So it’s been a week since I’ve read it and my feelings have not changed not one bit. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about these two. The writing was great and the story + connection & chemistry was everything I need in a mafia romance book. I appreciated the relationship dynamic between them with the factor of the age differences. In most mafia/arrangements the MMC is sometimes obsessed with taking the FMC virginity. In here he almost didn’t want to or at least not until she admitted what she was hiding. Which lead to lots of heavy petting + watching + talking and boy was it steamy. I loved every minute of it.
The only reason it didn’t get the full 5 is because I felt the ending and that part of the plot was a bit random. I would have liked more foreshadowing that something was going on outside of the fact that she was newly married. I had no clue any of that stuff was going on but maybe it’s because the writing was so good and I was so invested in them I wasn’t paying attention? Lmao
As a new to me author I’m pleasantly surprised and pleased with how this turned out and I can’t wait to read more from their backlist.
tbh, i only made it through cause of the smut, otherwise i'd have DNF'd this. (don't judge me, okay?🤪 👌) it delivered on the tropes, but there were too many plot glitches after the first half, with character growth being non-existent. some scenes were so unserious i was literally dead laughing at their stupidity! 😭 guess i got some comedy out of it though.

I devoured this in just a few hours. Truly did not think I would enjoy it this much; I was a bit hesitant considering the reviews and ratings but I liked the synopsis and I am a sucker for dark mafia romance books so here we are.
Bianca will do anything for her sister, and she does. She goes as far as to make the world believe she slept with her sister betrothed. Causing her own engagement to be over and for her to be shunned by her father.
Roberto was killed however right after she last saw him, and nobody knows who or how?
Enter Vincent (Roberto's older brother) who basically asks the boss Enzo his best friend to give him Bianca as his wife. Despite her reputation he will take her as his bride and thus thrust Bianca into a life she never imagined.
Vincent is obviously unhinged. He seems to be your typical broody, dark, crazed mafia guy so what did Bianca expect from her marriage? Not much considering who Vincent is and how everyone perceives him.
He refuses to sleep with her after they are married, and she assumes it’s because he does not want to sleep with his brothers sloppy seconds but we the reader have known from the beginning Bianca never slept with Roberto and just pretended so her sister would be free from having to marry a known rapist.
Vincent, however, has other motives for not sleeping with her and marrying her.
The reason?
He has been obsessed with her for a few years and he was in the same apartment when she met Roberto to demand he leave her sister alone and threatened to tell the world they slept together. You see Roberto was talking to the FBI and was placed under a kill order from the boss so Vincent already hating his brother agrees to end him but Bianca interrupts the moment and Vincent overhears everything. Thus, knowing that Bianca lied.
We also get a mystery about some woman Vincent is quietly chatting with named Gabriella. Bianca is furious to find out that he would cheat on her after his promises and is distraught. Confronts them and finds out that Gabriella is the sister of Vincent. Who showed up not too long ago and she needs help. Her parental lineage though will be causing massive issues once revealed and this is why it’s all secretive.
But let’s backtrack for a minute. Bianca has a friend who works in the mafia's sex club - Trixie. Now Trixie is also a hairstylist and Bianca and her have been meeting a few days a week to just chat and hang out away from prying eyes. Bianca shares things with Trixie and sees her as a true friend.
Fast forward to months after Bianca married Vincent, he comes home angry that she would have her friend try to fuck him and seduce him. Believing that Bianca did this on purpose he is livid, but Bianca denies it and confirms she had no knowledge, thus ending her friendship with Trixie..
Why is this important? Trixie is not Trixie but an FBI agent who has been undercover for 4 years and who has been trying to take down the mob. She is losing her mind after her job is taken from her and kidnaps Gabi. Resulting in a search for her and Trixie's death. Though Trixie does kill Bianca's driver who meant the world to her, and this brings Bianca to a new low.
I did NOT see this coming at all. I was shocked. It was a good twist, and you basically are finding out with the characters when it’s all revealed.
Gabi is also set to marry Leo who is Enzo's younger brother who is a huge womanizer. It's for her own good and will protect her but she is furious and reveals that Enzo kissed her and she is confused as to why he would pass her to his brother BUT plot twist! Leo is missing mere days before the wedding! He refuses to marry Gabi.
ENTER BOOK 2! Which I am reading as I write this review.
Really liked this story, I enjoyed the drama and the push/pull from our MC's. Vincent was obsessed with Bianca and their sex scenes were hot. We got a lot of degradation and humiliation, but it was all done with love in his heart.
Ummmm. Haley Jenner just rocked my Goddamn world with Virtuous Lies!!! Holy crap!!! This book is EVERYTHING you want in a mafia romance and EVERYTHING you NEED in an Arranged Marriage story! Bruh!! This duo just killed it and as I sit here thinking about what I just read I legit want to turn back to the very first page and start again. THIS BOOK IS FIREEEEE!!!! Bianca and Vincent will own you and make you want to read every word from this incredible duo!
What I loved more than anything was how real and engrossing the writing was. From the very first page I was hooked. Bianca and Vincent and their connection was just perfection. I loved the steamy passion, the filthy dirty talk, the addicting banter and all the juicy secrets. This is hands down one of the best arranged marriage romances I have ever read! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula ❤️
This book ticked every one of my mafia boxes and more. He’s my favourite kind of cold blooded psycho with a side of filthy dirty. Yum!
This writing duo is always a one click for me and stories like this are why. Their heroes are that delicious blend of filthy and genuine alpha and their heroines have backbone.
This one is a little darker than their usual books and there’s a healthy dose of kink and I definitely wasn’t mad about it. This hero drops some one liners that will have you tapping hubs on the shoulder at 2am.
It’s packed with action, insane chemistry and filthy dirty dialogue. I’m definitely hoping there’s more books to come for this group of “Made Men” that had me hooked from the very first page.
Virtuous Lies gets all the dirty talking stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The premise of the story is good. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. Heroine is 18, Hero is 30. Heroine is a virgin. No other woman drama. Other man drama in the sense that at the start everyone believes due to the heroine's actions and plan that she has been in some sort of romantic relationship with the Hero's brother. She isn't, it's a plot to free her sister from a forced marriage to an evil man. Forced/arranged marriage.
I wasn't keen on the sex scenes, begging, crawling etc.
Spoiler. It turns out the Hero has wanted the heroine for a longtime so now he sees an opportunity.
There are plenty of extra characters that can have their own stories. Heavy breadcrumbs dropped for next book.
HEA. Epilogue.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Yeah no, this shit ain't it. Seems more like a rough draft rather than a final manuscript lol and DEFINITELY needs more work. On another note, my 2023 reading year is off to a shit start so yay to that. Hope it gets better tho😭 Also this whole book was literally just "yOu'Re mInE", "mY dIRty liTTle wHOre", "dId yOu fUCk aNOthER wOmAN?" BOOM BOOM DIE🤡
sigh... The premise was good, but the delivery was kind of bad
The word ''whore'' in all this book made me cringe every fucking time,it annoyed and bothered me to be honest. I get it when the relationship is really strong, maybe during hard sex or whatever, but i think in this one, it wasn't the case because to be honest it didn't fit Vincent at all, because he cared about her. This is why i'm so conflicted , i loved how he protected her, how he wanted her but at the same time him talking to her like that killed the freaking vibe.
Honestly id rather had this book more of Vicent POV's than Bianca's.
Honestly i didn't get Bianca in the first half of the book, i needed more chemistry between them, more build up attraction, more connection... we just have scenes with them get together at first that didn't make sense because there was nothing leading there you know? it's hard to explain. Her toughs didn't match most of the times her actions in touching him for example. It was just happening without explanation . Minding the fact that she was in a forced marriage, and she didn't know him. If in her toughs she would at least have more lusted things that lead to her vicinity it would've been way better. Also her affection for him since the start? out of nowhere... she called him VINNY and tesoro (treasure in italian)..
I NEEDED an epilogue. For them as a couple, i know we will probably see more of them in the series, but give me the freaking epilogue on their part :'(
I can maybe close an eye on the degradation during sex or whatever BUT i can't without a proper chemistry between them since THE START. It's a shame because i did like them as a couple BUT i needed more from this.
The sexy cover, so many recommendations, arranged mafia marriage, I was ravenous and ready to dive into this story! And oh how I wanted to love it- it has all the ingredients I want in a dark mafia romance, all the tropes I gobble right up. And, I certainly enjoyed parts of it- but I didn’t fall into this quite the way I anticipated or hoped. This is my first Haley Jenner book, and I can certainly see the hype- even if this didn’t quite land for me.
What really worked for me was the relationship dynamic and the spice! Like holy moly can Haley Jenner write some spice. And, I did appreciate our characters. Our mafia princess Bianca is courageous, selfless, strong, but also indelibly sweet. And Vincent- well this man is HOT. Controlling, dangerous, manipulative and ruthlessly strategic. The way he arranges the pieces on the board is really compelling, but what I loved even more was just how obsessed (and unapologetically so) about her heroine Bianca. Like worships her- even more than we could know. And there is AMPLE spice- spice a plenty! I wish we’d had a bit more emotional intimacy between these two, but their chemistry is super engaging.
Where I didn’t enjoy this as much was just the overall flow and plot of the story. There were plot holes and dropped storylines, too much emphasis on Bianca’s “secret” from Vincent, when really what else did he expect from her given the situation? And the plot itself just felt disjointed, like two parts of a duet squished together since we had multiple conflicts (both over dramatized, and neither had very intensive stakes when it comes to our characters), and the ending felt more focused on other characters and setting up their own books than a meaningful focus and evolution for these characters. Their journey and arc felt a bit static, and unsatisfying. I ended up skimming parts of the ending, just because I felt like we lost focus on our couple. Not to mention, the finale and the “bad guy” felt super out of nowhere. It was like Jenner didn’t have anywhere to go with the rest of the story after the main couple’s drama wrapped up, so it felt like part epilogue and part a whole new story- but for like 50% of the book. It was just…well disjointed, and needed more developing.
SO, the couple I loved, the spice great, the overarching flow of the story FOR Me didn’t land or work. I’m not sure I’ll dive into the next- though I am intrigued by the couple and I think Jenner certainly has some talent I’d love to explore more. The future heroine was NOT my favorite character in this book, however, but perhaps there’s more to her.
Oohh this had some of my favorite tropes weaved in it - Mafia, arranged marriage and age gap. I was instantly drawn in and held captive until the very end. Where can I find myself a Vincent?!! Holy... that man! His dirty talk was on fire!
Mafia princess Bianca Rossi, the pawn to being peace in the mafia. Part of the plan was to be wed to a man, but a reckless act changes that for her. Instead, she is forced to marry Vincent Ferrari, the ex enforcer and new consigliere. He is ruthless and and doesn't have the nickname "Necktie" for nothing. Despite Bianca's world turned upside down she never lost her backbone. She stood up for herself despite the fear of some retaliation by her brutally beautiful new husband.
These two... holy shitakes! HOT HOT FREAKING FIRE!! Vincent knew just what to say to turn her into a puddle, literally. Gush city!! Freaking glass of whiskey. F*ckkkkk! That was so intensely hot.
This story packed a punch of the best form. It was gritty, it was twisty, it was dark and smexy, so very smexy. Can't wait to see how hot this next couple is gonna be! Might make kindle overheat. I know I was cooling myself off a few times while reading about Bianca and Vinnie!
Virtuous Lies is book 1 in the Lies of the Underworld series and is the story of a young woman Bianca who is the perfect daughter until she makes a decision that changes her life forever. Vincent is an Enforcer in the family who becomes Consigliere who is forced to marry Bianca or so we think. I really enjoyed this book. Vincent is delicious in his dirty talk and his obsession with Bianca was OTT. While Bianca is nervous at first to marry Vincent, she knows it the best option after what she did. Bianca is very feisty, and I loved it. She doesn't always listen, and her jealousy was so much fun especially when she acted on it. Overall, this was a really enjoyable book from new to me authors. My only minor complaint is that I wish there was a little more meat to the story to balance out all the intimate times. I can't wait for book 2.
I don't even enjoy RATIONAL jealous from fmcs... let alone whatever this was.
An mmc obsessed with how "untouched" her ass is... weird...
Actually, this whole book is obsessed with female virginity...
Lmao there's a scene in here where a 17 year old character was scolded for watching porn, cause she's too young for that... and in the SAME scene, she is told she'll be marrying some mafia dude in his 30s...
Help 💀...
This book would be HILARIOUS if it wasn't so fkin boring.
And finally, this book not only did one of my least fav tropes "female jealousy," but it also did another i HATE...
CAT FIGHTS.
Yes, fmc physically fought another woman over a man.
Gross.
Anyway, if i had a penny for every time this book mentioned "respectful cheating," id be 3 pennies richer, and look, im greedy but that's wayyyy too much money.
Is there a trope that Haley Jenner cannot slay? I don't think so. Virtuous Lies is an extremely well written piece of art. This enemies to lovers mafia arranged marriage romance slayed me. They have captured the violence and darkness of a mafia alpha antihero so beautifully and I am hopelessly in love with Vincent Ferrari. They have created a fierce, bright and sassy heroine and I absolutely adore Bianca Rossi. Their explosive and messy and raw journey took my breath away. I am obsessed with the filthy passion, the soul crunching emotions and jaw dropping suspense.
Mafia princess Bianca Rossi planned a dangerous attack to save her sister from getting married to the consigliere of New York mafia because he is a vile man. But that did not include him getting murdered. Now as a punishment she has to get married to Vincent Ferrari, the ex enforcer and now consigliere. He has a brutal reputation and this marriage will be hell. Or will it be heaven?
I am surprised that the dynamic duo took so long to write mafia romance. Because they always write amazing alpha heroes. Now Vincent is definitely darker. He belongs to a violent and dangerous world. But he is good is a twisted way. He has a good heart beyond the blood and violence and danger. He is a possessive alpha protector. Bianca is a spitfire and she thought she will never bow down in front of this cruel man. She fights and fights till Vincent shows his soft underbelly and she gets slayed. Now don't mistake the softness as his weakness. Nope. He is still filthy and dominating and kinky and oh so intense. But he has an intense love for Bianca to the level of obsession and I cannot help but swoon. The chemistry is insane. The plot is a complete rollercoaster. I was hooked and addicted and I just cannot wait for more from this world ASAP.
I really liked it but i didn't love it completely.
I want my mafia romance to grab me by the throat and squeeze till i can't breathe only to hold me in a tight embrace at the end.
This one was like a friend patting me on my back.
This book had a lot of potential and I really wanted to love it since it has all my fave tropes: ⭐forced marriage ⭐enemies to lovers ⭐unhinged mafia hero obsessed with the heroine ⭐loved-you-from-afar
Plus, Aiden Snow as the narrator? My pervy self couldn't be happier.
However, the transition between Bianca and Vincent came way too fast for my liking and so in chapter 15 the iloveyous were uttered and they were already blissfully happy.
And with 10 chapters left i was like:
Another thing? Waaaaay too much smut.
Listen, my inner kinky hoe likes it dirty, sure, but the romantic in me wants an actual storyline, not just shagging.
I want to see why she falls for him and how they grow together from the dislike and fear (Bianca) to sth deep and unbreakable.
I want to be there and observe and root for them.
JUST DON'T MAKE THE CHARACTERS JUMP TO BED RIGHT FUCKING AWAY!!!
Make them earn it, make me long for it, just make me wait for the goodness to come, for crying out!
Another thing, and that's just my personal preference, i wanted Vincent to be more fucked up and crazy. He was too mellow for my dark loving ass.
And I got a feeling that the authors wanted to make him fucked in the head but were kinda afraid to go all the way.
And that's a real shame, because Vincent was my absolute favorite and if he were more dark and twisty, my ass would be esctatic.
I wanted Vincent to be completely ruthless and insane.
Or as I call it:
All in all, it was a really nice read and i did like the twist at the end, it made the story more interesting.
And I'm sure as hell will read (listen to) the next book, Fractured Secrets, which is Gabrella and Enzo's story. I already got the audiobook (sadly no Aiden Snow 😭😭😭).
And i'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty excited for it.
Do I recommend this one? I do, despite some flaws, it was a great and really enjoyable read.
Virtuous Lies by Haley Jenner is a deliciously spicy dark mafia romance. Well written and filled with some of my most favorite tropes. Forced proximity by arranged marriage, age gap, possessiveness and dominance. The red flags fly high. Check your triggers.
I am a sucker for a good mafia romance and this beauty pulled me in quickly. Bianca, the FMC isn’t a push over and this causes great banter with Vincent, the MMC. I really do love that she is a strong female character. Although Vincent is anything but a moral man, he’s also pretty sweet and caring in his own possessive and dominating way. If he told me to drop to my knees and crawl, I’d happily be risking knee replacement. Sign me up! If the spice and character development don’t keep you interested, then the plot twists along the way will. I was definitely kept on my toes.
I listened to the audiobook which is narrated in duel by Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow. This book is mainly from Bianca’s POV so Desiree does most of the heavy lifting when it comes to the emotions of the characters. She did not disappoint. A flawless performance. I love her male voice too. Even better? Desiree narrating Vincent speaking Italian. Excuse me, Ma’am. Excuse me!!! I could easily distinguish between each character. Aiden narrated 2 wonderful chapters in this book. His growly performance is the perfect representation of Vincent. I also really enjoyed his female narration. The ending was chef’s kiss. A seamless production.
Book: 5/5 Spice: 4/5 Narration: 5/5
I’d like to thank Home Cooked Books for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.
A 5 star after so long! ❤️ Trope// Arrange marriage (mafia), age gap (hero is 30, heroine is 18) Spice// 4/5 🔥 This was unexpectedly amazinggg! The plot, the characters, the writing, the smut everythinggg was perfect! 💗 I’d have preferred Vincent’s pov as well though 😭 but anyways, both the main characters were lovelyyy😍 Definitely looking forward to the next book in series! ❤️🔥
This was a great Mafia book! Wish it had been a little longer, but overall this book nailed all the things I look for. Faithful H who's been in love with the h all along, h who knows when to stand up for herself and also when to be submissive, some of the most passionately hot sex scenes with just the right amount of action and betrayal. Definitely will read more of her books!
This book was a mess. There’s no real plot and the instalust and instalove happened so fast, I though I missed a few chapters. I felt no connection to the characters because no one felt real so I didn’t care when anything happened. The scenes move fast, so I have a hard time placing the characters anywhere. One second they’re in an apartment, then at a restaurant-but wait, are they still at their apartment? Nope…it’s a different day. It’s that way for most of the book, along with every mafia cliche thrown in. Do not recommend, even if you like insta-love stories. This just isn’t it.
This was my first book by Haley Jenner and while it’s on the shorter side and everything felt extremely rushed (more insta love), I still enjoyed the writing and the characters.
This mafia romance is exactly what I wanted to read. I love an alpha hole hero and a firey heroine. I also love all the side characters introduced. While everything was fast paced, I love the touch her and you die vibes!
He's immoral, he's dangerous, and some women are foolish to consider his lawlessness attractive. It's me. I'm women.
Right now I’m not the biggest fan of age-gap or the whole virginity thing, but I was in the mood for a Mafia romance and I can’t say I was disappointed🔥
