But through no fault of her own, Mel loses the baby. And then tragedy strikes again only a few weeks later, when she’s informed that her fiancé Alex, an Air Force pilot, has been killed in action in Iraq.
Devastated, Mel moves forward, accepting a surprising job offer to work at the newly built Wounded Warrior Home in Crystal Rock, Wisconsin. Her duties as an R.N. will include overseeing the young disabled residents of Crystal Visions, located nearby.

This one was just as good as the rest of them. I love how they all fill in the gaps from different storylines. But my favorite part of this book is the last couple of lines!
So, so good. Steve and Mel's story. So many moments. Plan to laugh out loud and maybe have tissues handy. Wow. I loved it (and there are so many books to love in this series). Bravo!
Melinda McDaniel aka Mel is an RN with a promising career lay out in front of her. Her personal life is happy and moving the way she wants it to go until tragedy happens. Steve Ryder had to quit his dream job in the Navy due to his wife getting cancer and passing away. But his luck changes and things fall into place for a new job in a new town. Eventually Mel gets a job at the same place as Steve but they both butt heads very quick. Time will only tell how things work out between them. It was a good quick read that I could not put down. I had to know what happened. I know this is one of many in a line of books and I have not read any others but this book did not leave me feeling left out I had the information that I needed. It easily can be read as a standalone book. There are many characters that are very interesting and I could easily read books about them as well. I liked both Mel and Steve they were strong and hard workers. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily reviewed this book. This is my honest review
Having suffered devastating losses, Mel and Steve find a surprising connection whilst dealing with a wounded soldier who is battling through PTSD and the terrible wounds to his body. There is sorrow and tragedy in this novel but also some humor and lighter moments as Mel's bubbling personality comes to the fore. They also find accord whilst working with Ben and it is through him that they finally come to the realization that life can be beautiful again, bringing healing and mending their hearts. Although this novel is part of a series, it is a stand-alone and closes on a sweet note. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
Mel is R.N. nurse and Steve is a Navy Seal medic and physical therapist. They are an instant spark but they suffered incredible loss with death from their love ones. She tries to stay away but they keep running into each other. They realized they might be the only hope for a young disabled boy to have a future that he deserves. She finally stops trying to stay away from him
A sweet little romance. There was definitely some research done for this but it does follow a generic outline. I have not read any others in this series which I understand has a great following. Though parts are sad, it's about life and the twists and turns it takes wherther we are ready or not. As a sister to a child who was handicapped, I love stories with people like these who truly care.
This series of books about Crystal Rock and veterans are amazing.
Every one of this series show how wounded or people with disabilities can overcome life's obstacles and find meaningful futures. Every book is excellent to read.
I read the shorter version of this book. They both had gone through a traumatic experience with their significant other. So starting over for Mel was harder for her. I loved Ben, A six year old with disabilities who's had it rough. Excellent read. HEA.
