Three childhood best friends navigate life and love in the windy city.
Jonathan, a former professional athlete, has a heart of gold for his friends but is stone cold to women. Love ’em and leave ’em is his motto, but when his reckless lifestyle spills over into the lives of his loved ones, will he finally confront his demons?
Tyreese is a bestselling author who has made his fortune writing love stories, yet he can’t seem to craft his own happy ending. When an old friend comes to town for a funeral, he realizes she’s everything he needs in a woman. Problem is, she lives over seventeen hundred miles away, and they are both in relationships.
Monica is the mama bear of the trio. She loves hard and is fiercely protective of everyone except herself. A chance meeting with a former co-worker ends in a night of explosive sex that causes her to keep a secret from her friends. Her heart and mind are at odds in her new relationship, but she’s willing to risk it all for a chance at love.
Witty, sexy, and deeply poignant, A Love Thang reveals the softer side of veteran author Alex Richardson.
This was a great read. This is a new author for me. Most of my most recent books have been written by women. I decided to try reading a novel written by a man. I was not disappointed. This book was great. This book was beautifully written. I loved all of the characters and how they crossed paths. Great plot and twits. I’ll definitely be reading more by him. Just read the damn book 📚
A 3.5 for me. While it was generally entertaining, it was also laden with details that (to me) were unnecessary, backstories of minor characters, and conversations that could've been summarized. It would've made for a way smoother read.
And if Toni's POV was gonna be included, it could've been throughout the entire book. I was not a fan of Monica at all; I found her to be rather hypocritical and someone who wanted to dish it out all the time but not take it. I liked Jonathan's progression and maturity, and thought Tyreese and Ebony were good together. There were some cool elements but the aforementioned things along with errors like the wrong names being used kinda took away from the experience.
I liked that this was three stories about three friends woven together. Monica, Tyrese, and Jonathan were and interesting group. Eboni was to silly regarding her relationship with Cameron.. I mean the writing was on the wall. There were several typos using the wrong name. At Least one instance that a sentences just made no sense.
This was a good story that, most definitely, kept me engaged. I didn’t see Tyresse getting shot coming. Nor did I see the baby coming after, Monica was so adamant about both of her friends wrapping it up. Good book! Excited to read Mr. Richardson next book.
