The BOF is back and the goddess Artemis needs their help. No mission is ever easy and this one was dangerous but with their mates help the BOF got it done again. Great story and I can’t get enough of these characters.

this book has more than one reminder that even strong and powerful females can find themselves in bad positions and find themselves threatened or victims if sexual assault

painfully accurately, the characters share that it is not always a physical weakness that leaves them more defenseless, but a mental state or panic

it is powerful to me as a survivor that even these magically mighty women are vulnerable, and that is somehow reassuring and terrifying at the same time.

intense drama and exploration if the tangled connections between demigods, as well as the less than stellar persons of several demigods as they work through their acting out and messed up parental relationships and related issues

intense drama and action.

This is book eleven of the Midlife Witchery series and catches up with the Backside of Forty trio of witches, Fiona, Violet and Ais (Aislinn), are sent on a mission to recover a golden magical snare, which was stolen from the Goddess Artemis’ own secret weapons armoury within her home. They congregate at Pymm’s Pondside in Cottlehill, home of Fiona and her grams Isidora. Out in the pond lives a mermaid called Kairi, who will bring key information to their urgent case. The three women are all happy with their fated mates, Fiona with Bas (Sebastian), a Fae; Aislinn with Argies, a royal dragon heir and their daughter Kalli (Kalliopi); and Violet and Thanos, a God. All three women are witches, but also much more, one with a phoenix mix, another with fae blood and all now with demigod powers from Artemis making them her huntresses! Artemis hasn’t quite gotten the message about how to treat normal people and pulls the three women, plus baby, to her realm, to order them to find this magical snare that was stolen from her. She herself cannot interfere with actions in the mortal realm, but she will punish whoever stole it, severely! The snare can trap anyone, even a demigod or god, rendering them unable to move or remove the snare, thus giving a person the time to kill them, which is usually not so easy.
Fiona is her usual blunt self and gets Artemis’ back up by talking back to her, but she actually takes it well, knowing that if the women actually did all she asked without question, she wouldn’t be able to trust them as she does. They check out where the snare was kept and find a small clue that is going to lead them to Mer City. Only problem is that none of them can actually breathe under water, withstand the cold or the intense pressure so far down! They will need to sort out something and quickly, but it will take time to complete a complex potion to allow them to breathe underwater and the other parts of the puzzle will need adding in somehow. Gardoss, a dwarf, turned up at their door just after they returned from defeating the Dark One, Vodor, and wants them to get on with doing more jobs for him given by the paranormal coucil, jobs he should no doubt do himself. One is to find the Collins family and tell them it is safe to return, the other is have their coven handle a rogue shifter. The Collins case can at least get looked at while the potion brews and all the women, along with Grams and her best friend Camille, end up on a trip to a magical sanctuary, where Arabella Collins and her kids have been hiding safely. But danger is never far from the trio, as when they get travelled to London for a very rare ingredient for the potion, they were attacked by vampires who managed to render their magic null and void for a time! Violet’s ex-husband Dathan is a mer man and they have to get him to agree to take her and Thanos with him to Mer City, but also Fiona and Ais will be tagging along covered by an invisibility spell.
Clues soon lead them to one of the sons of Poseidon, a man who is knee deep in gambling debts and was desperate enough to steal from Artemis, for someone else, but asking around in a nasty dive bar in Mer City soon attracts all of his hangers-on and they want a piece of the women! They have only just received demigod powers and don’t have the knowledge to get their new powers and the weapons it should bring, to hand when in danger just yet and are soon almost overwhelmed yet again. It should have been fairly simple to retrieve a stolen item, but when you are talking about an object of the gods, nothing is as simple as it is made to seem! Thankfully, their new demi-god status comes with some fast healing powers, but until they work a case fully for the goddess, their powers will not be at full strength. Shame they forgot to ask to borrow some of her shiny special weapons for the job they were given. The women certainly needed them a few times in this story. Most of the time, they have their mates at their backs, but they can get distracted by the smallest of slights about their woman or if they think someone is in danger, leaving the women alone and vulnerable at key points in the storyline! Their love for their women is powerful and allows their women to hold them back at times, when they would love to punish someone for even talking badly about their woman. I love the protective and loving vibes Thano, Bas and Argies give off and how they will always be there to help whenever they can! Lots going on in this story, but the main parts are figuring out a way to Mer City and finding the thief plus finding the Collins family and bringing them back home. Lots of characters, so if not used to who everyone is, it could be a bit confusing, or if haven’t read one of this series for a while, it could be the same. Stick with it, because it is certainly worth it! Danger, action, magic and more, with some fun references to a young wizard from a film, bringing light relief. I can’t wait to see what they all get up to next. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Fiona, Sebastian, Violet and Aislinn are driving with Millie after defeating the Dark One. (DO) Go Backside of Forty! Not only are they awesome witches and Fae, but they are now part of the detective network for supernaturals. They are also newly minted Hunters for the Greek Goddess Artemis. Wait til you get a load of those perks! With the defeat of DO, they freed Millie and brought her back to her daughter Lizzie. Fiona inherited Pymm’s Pondside which contains the Portal to Fae lands, Eidothea.

Aislinn’s baby with dragon shifter Fae, Argies, Kalliopior Kalli for short, is absofreaking adorable! Violet and Thanos, demigod of the underworld and an agent of the UIS. The other couple’s will be going back to their homes now that the big bad threat is over. BoF still need to find the Collins family and Gardoss, the dwarf detective for the area, gives them another case, rogue shifter. Plus, Artemis called on them as someone has stolen the net Hephaestus made her. If someone evil uses that net…. It could be catastrophic.

I swear they are trouble magnets! But dang to they kick butt! I loved this book and can’t wait for the next one!.

Fiona, Violet, and Aislinn have a new gig as Artemis's hunters, as if they didn't already have enough on their plates. They are all a bit peeved when she summons them with no warning and they end up at her home with Kalliopi in tow. Obviously, a few new rules need to be added to their agreement with the goddess. They eventually agree to find a stolen object for her - but only because it is powerful and likely to cause a lot of trouble if left on the loose. The magical snare can be used to trap any being, even demigods, and even slow down gods. Artemis gives them the ability to call forth magical bows and arrows anytime they are in danger and also, reluctantly, gives them a way to astral project to her home if they need to make a report or request.

Lots goes on during their search. They have to find a way to breathe underwater so they can visit Mer City, they get attacked several times by merman, they visit a real-life Diagon Alley (think Harry Potter), and tangle with more than one demigod. But don't worry, their mates are usually close by and they heal faster now! I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Huntress status not all it's cracked up to be

Artemis just pulls them to her whenever she likes but, Fiona is fed up and lets the goddess know that. Artemis has a delicate problem only the BoF can handle but, without any information they must rely on few clues. In order to follow their one solid lead, Violet must ask her ex-husband for help to get to Mer-city and then the fun really begins. The perpetrator is a demigod and a son of Posedion and he is on the run..... Now risking life and limb seems a little too real.

These ladies find themselves in some serious messes, none so interesting as this. Be prepared for not only new challenges but, new side characters as well and fun new places. This was a great book, I loved it. I highly recommend this book, entire series and all the others written by this inkslinger.

The ladies of BoF battle mermen and demigods in their latest quest to quell evil. Artemis has suffered a loss and is not happy about it. Under the sea and through back alleys they go in their bid to capture the thief and recover the loot from an unlikely suspect. The ultimate why remains unknown but a new foe is revealed. And he seems familiar. Hmmm. To be continued...I hope.

A great mythical tale with the heroines and heroes frequenting the mean streets of Mer City and London. They take plenty of hits but they don't back down. The ladies of BoF are the bad b's of the magical world. Behave or be put in a timeout. Permanently.

WOW! Didn't think that after 10 books in the Midlife Witchery that book 11 would be just as brilliant as the other 10 but Brenda Trim hit it out of the ballpark. Not often you find an author that can weave a magical story and make it work after 10 books...they sometimes become monotonous...but Brenda's books are like a breath of fresh air, they are brillliant.

The Backside of Forty woman are at it again. Solving crimes and defeating villains, this time it is no exception with the Goddess Artemis asking for their help. Someone has stolen the Goddess's magical snare and she needs Fionna, Aislinn and Violet to find it. Not an easy task! Will the BoF find the snare and solve the theft?

The author's writing is brilliant and the story flows so easily that you don't want to stop reading. Unfortunately, life gets in the way so it took me 2 days to read the book. But it was amazing. I think I already said that but it is a good story and the series is amazing. I can't get enough of Brenda Trim's books....anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

Highly recommend this series!

Fiona and gang are at it again... this time Artemis snags them and the BoF is not happy! More ground rules are set and a reminder of what was already agreed to. Someone stole from Artemis and she wants the BoF to find it... this particular job is extremely taxing and concerning. In between they find a family that's gone into hiding before the Dark One was dealt with. The BoF wins again and for maybe 5 minutes they'll be able to unwind n rest... fingers crossed anyway!!! Looking forward to the next adventure for these ladies!

The group of magical women known as the backside of forty have been gaining magical power.
They are now working for Artemis, the Greek Goddess.
They are asked to find out who stole the magical snare ( net) and get it back for her.
The must travel to Mer City, under water, and find the first in the culprits.
The case takes them to dangerous parts of London and meetings with dangerous creatures.
Their husbands are not happy either. The dragon, the Demi God and the Fae blacksmith, all powerful in their own right.
But they will need all the power they have to make it through this very dangerous quest.

Good characters

The characters are interesting and well defined. I like the world building and the plots are generally good, but there is no follow-up at the end. However, I feel the characters continually fumble about, they just randomly jump into situations and don't plan ahead or seem to work together when fighting someone. There are grammar and spelling mistakes, there are random commas where there shouldn't be, and some sentences are confusing. This is across all the books in this series so far. I think if the author improved these areas, she can make an okay series of books really good.

I love how much this series improves with the addition of each new book. Just when I think the series cannot be improved upon the new book comes out and proves me wrong. Each book has the perfect ratio of action, suspense, steamy romance, and twists to keep the reader coming back for more. Not to forget the characters that also get better and better even though they are older and divorced than most supernatural heroes and heroines!!.

Wow, this was so captivating. What the BOF's endure on their cases is mind blowing. So much goes on in this story that keeps you enthralled. The thought of breathing underwater gave me the chills. Without their mates to fall back on and always there to protect them, they would be at a loss
Even though they are warriors for Artemis it seems like sometimes she needs putting in her place. And who but these ladies would have the balls to do it!.
Another great read Brenda. I can't wait for their next magical adventure.

Great Book! Love this author! You’ll find that you will become intrigued with this story and will find it difficult to put your book down. There’s plenty of romance and intrigue, coupled with danger. As an added bonus, I always enjoy stories featuring “mer” people. This series is intriguing, and each book helps us get to know the various characters and their mates and to discover how they will mesh together in order to assist the goddess Artemis. The Backside of Forty is off and running again when Artemis drags them to her domain and gives them a mission to find a net created by Hephaestus. What Artemis doesn't tell the BoF is that the item they have to retrieve is an Object of Power. The BoF and their mates travel to the tunnels of London and the magical marketplace there to find the thief. This story has plenty of action, romance, and steam, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

Fantastical

This is book11, I'm thinking I read 11 books already! Yeah I'd done that, hadn't gotten to bed before 12 for at least 5 days. These are some of the best I've read, almost as good as my favorites the Order of Hunters series. A great way to pass time, keep my brain kinda sharp. These witches and Far are good, e
Makes for exciting reading. I think there great and you probably will too.

The Backside of Forty are incredible! While still newbies to magic they get the better of the bad guys. Every time. Makes for a riveting read. I would love to try the "fizzing poppy cake.". This is a highly entertaining read.

Being the huntresses of the Goddess Artemis may have it's perks, but it's also a real pain. New gifts from the goddess plus learning to use the power they already possess and joining their powers make them almost unstoppable. It's great to see middle aged women who are strong in their own right and join together to lift each other up. Love this magical universe and all it's players.

this is still going strong on the Midlife Witchery series, I was hooked from the first book and continued this series with the rest of the book. Brenda Trim has a great writing style for a paranormal fiction novel. It does what I was looking for and am glad I read this.

DNF. I just couldn't take it anymore. So much action without explanation. Why are Grams and Camille friends now and what was their previous drama? Why is Ais breast feeding in nearly every scene? Why are the so stupid that they keep splitting up the group and not bringing their weapons? I found I didn't care one whit about Artemis and her issues.
