Mad Marie is back and she's conjured a contingent of Dark Fae to challenge the Twisted Sisters in their biggest battle yet...

Unwilling to yield to the sisters, The Voodoo Queen strikes again. With the help of the convergence of power, she's shuttled an army of Dark Fae from Eidothea to New Orleans for her next nefarious scheme. Aided by the Fae, Marie Leveau intends to bring back a loa, but not before she manages to kidnap two of the sisters as well.

Caught in the Queen's ruthless clutches, Dani and Lia are cut off from their magic and helpless to escape. Stopping Marie and the Fae isn't an option until they can rally their other sisters to come to their aid. An old-fashioned prison break leads the sisters on an adventure deep beneath Marie's voodoo enchantments, but by the time the sisterly sextet is reunited, it could be too late to stop the loa's return.

Good story, needs better editing

The editing seems to be getting worse with each book. There were so many grammatical errors and misspellings in this book.

This is book four of the Twisted Sisters Midlife Maelstrom series and the sisters are busier than ever with event son their plantation. It seems that any date Lia manages to go on with wolf shifter alpha Luca, always gets interrupted by some sort of magical incident or attack. Lucas says it is because her light shines so bright! Corny or what! They were walking back after their date in the Quarter when they were attacked by a creature that shouldn’t have been able to get to their plane of existence, only being in the dark fae realm. They have to call Kaitlyn, the head witch, who calls in the vampires to wipe the mundanes memories of the incident. They also reach out to Phoebe and find out that both Phoebe and Kaitlyn were away from the portal and not even on this realm, at the same time, leaving the portal unwatched. It shouldn’t have meant anything could get through, but this latest attack leaves them wondering. The Voodoo Queen, Marie Leveau, has not finished with the six sisters and resents their interfering with her plans for New Orleans and her control over it!
Dani and Lia are out shopping for party supplies for their next event and get attacked as they reach their car, by a very strong being or creature, who teleports them to Mari Leveau’s underground lair, where they are placed in chains and locked behind a ward. They are unable to use their magic to contact their mates or sisters and can only get their own shield up in time to stop whatever evil plan Marie has for them both, as well as the rest of their sisters. Marie blew a strange powder at them, making them age, wanting them turned into useless husks. Luckily one of them has magic that could counteract that! Marie is still trying to use one of them as a body for the loa she has promised to find a way to this realm for. She has allied herself with the dark fae and brought some of their creatures through a weakness in the veil, to do her evil for her. She also has her little mini me, in her daughter, to do her evil bidding as well. Truly evil personified! Dani and Lia don’t have enough power to stop Marie and the dark fae by themselves and have to figure out a way to get through her wards and contact their family and friends. If they could only know where they are, they would come running, hopefully with some other allies as well. Marie seems to think their mates and the wolf pack would be too afraid to go up against her, as are most witches in New Orleans. But the Twisted Sisters have made a lot of friends among the magical community, for their stance on not wanting to take anyone else’s power or try to control them, like Marie does, making everyone fear her and what she will do in retribution if they cross her, since she is so powerful.
Their other sisters, Kota, Dre, Dea and Phi find themselves facing off against Marie’s mambos, whilst Lucas, Noah and Albar, the gargoyle, fight off the dark fae, as they all come to the rescue, as well as other members of the wolf pack and their other allies. Marie had spent her life using others for her own means and manipulating others to her will, even creating her evil doppelganger of a daughter. The time has come for others to fight back against her control and the sisters will be right in the midst of the action. They may have only had months of knowing about and using magic, but their strong sister and family bond is what makes their magic so much more powerful and used for good. Phi has a new ability as a seer and comes out with a few premonitions about Marie and her being stopped or succeeding in what she has planned. The twisted sisters already have a number of allies and they are all agreed that an Aegis Council should be set up, representing each of the paranormal species in New Orleans, including Marie Leveau and the Dark Fae, however much they would love to ignore them. Each species must adhere to certain rules of the council and each will have its own leader to deal with any transgressions. They have Cyran the Light Fae, the Head Witch Kaitlyn, Albar the gargoyle, Xinar of the UIS, Keryth Hernan of the Elves, Shayla of the demons, Kaveh for the djinn and Tempe for the Necromancers. Marie objects to all of the Smith sisters taking a place on the council, but Kaitlyn informs her they have part of every paranormal species within them and their magic and together only take one seat. Marie turned up late with her Dark Fae overlord Remzyn, expecting to have them all bow down to her conditions. Thankfully none of them did!
Marie has been weakened in her last battle with the sisters and their wolf mates and pack, but that doesn’t stop her from trying to get back at the sisters and to bring over Samedi to this realm, like she had promised. That would bring her immense power once again and Samedi would be hard to stop. It seems a slight error in working for the agreement allowed the dark fae to have more leeway in breaking the rules, than expected and they could use their own people to gain power and magic for Marie, as she tried her spell once again to bring the loa through to this realm. The sisters have a fiftieth anniversary of a mating ceremony to prepare for, and even though they have to be ready to fight Marie and her dark fae allies, and now Samedi as well, they still have parties to put together and their normal lives, as such, to continue with. The hex put on Lia and Dani gets a surprising remedy, as the sisters find another part of their magical ancestry comes to the fore and provides a cure. Some of them may have been knocked down and fighting against magical and physical ailments, but nothing can put them and their friends down for long and the battle for control of New Orleans and ending Marie’s rule will continue. Lots of action in this one, from imps, dark magic, strange creatures and even dragons for the sisters to contend with. I can’t wait to see how things go from here. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

In New Orleans, at the Willowberry Plantation, a group of sisters dwell, after their mother died of cancer, they use it for their party planning business. Each sister has a power. They also have 4 brothers who are business minded but aren’t part of Six Twisted Sisters: Dreya (Dre)= telekinesis, Dakota (Kota)= wishes appear, Danielle= psychometric, Deandra= medium/ necromancer, Dahlia (Lia)= smell induced visions of the future, and Delphine (Phi) astral projection. Even tho each of them has a married name, they’ll always be known as the Smith sisters. Fred works for them and told them that the women have woken the magic of the Plantation (bk 1) as well as their latent powers listed above, some of them anyway. Now they’ll need to do research on top of all the renovations. [Hugo divorced Dani, Dre is married to Steve, Phi to Tucker, Lia had Leo, Deandra = Maliko, Kota= Jeff]

The local werewolves Alpha, Lucas and Beta, Noah, are the love interests for Lia and Dani. Voodoo Queen Marie wants her revenge. Witches, vampires, Fae, gargoyles, shifters, and zombies oh my! Mischief, Mayhem, Madness! Super emotional roller coaster. Total chaos keeps getting thrown at them as they make their party planning business a success at the Plantation. They gather Uber powerful allies as well as enemies.

I adored this series and this book was awesome!.

Wow a great addition to the Twisted Sisters Midlife Maelstrom series!
The sisters had their hands full in this book...action packed, nail biting, edge of my seat story. I didn't think the stories could get better but each book I read it happens....magic!

Once again the sisters are up against Marie Laveau trying to run New Orleans and steal magic power. But what is Marie up to in French Quarter Fae, you will have to read the book to find out. I'm not one to spoil the story but she is up to no good as usual. Like I said the Twisted Sisters have their hands full with Marie, trying to figure out their magic, run their party business, and run the plantation. Not to mention have a life with their significant others.

I love all the characters I don't have one in particular that I like better over the others. I really like how the sisters help out the paranormal community even though they are still learning their magic capabilities. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

The writing flows and captures your attention right from the start. I actually don't want to put my tablet down once I start the story. But life gets in the way of my reading. I highly recommend Brenda Trim's books if you haven't read anything by her...you won't regret it

Thank you to Booksprout and Brenda Trim for allowing me to read an advanced copy of French Quarter Fae for an honest opinion. These are my words and my words only.

I'm not sure what happened with this book but after series of events that happened it seemed like a part of the plot was missing. Chapter 12 ended on a cliffhanger with Lucas gravely injured and then it was never mentioned again. It's as if that chapter never existed. The next time Lucas is mentioned he is completely fine. The editing of this book was awful.
I've been reading all the Brenda Trim Midlife series in the order written, as I found too many spoilers for her other books set in Cottlehill and Maine. I'm actually getting fed up with quite a few of the characters in all the different series. They do stupid things, become arrogant and annoy me. If one more character stops and loses focus in a fight because she's too distracted from kissing her mate, I think I'll scream. They are women in their midlife, not teenagers.I'm so close to giving up on these books. I'm not a fan of the explicit sex scenes. I find that they're gratuitous and just thrown in to appease the spice lovers.

The horror that these sisters have to endure would give anyone nightmares. When Marie has Lia and Dani attacked and kidnapped they fear that this is one situation that they won't recover from. Not being able to contact their mates or sisters because of the wards that Marie has they decide to think outside the box and dig using their hands to get below the wards.

Their mates and sisters arrive just in the nick of time, even though Lia is on the brink. The fight to save his mate is more than he can bear.

Realizing that no one person should have this much power the sisters enlist the help of all the other factions to create a council where they all have a say.......of course there's always one that puts themselves above the rest and doesn't feel the need to comply.
This read was so powerful. The bond that the sisters share with their mates. Is definitely a force to reckon with.

The Twisted Sisters are still discovering and honing their unexpected powers. Marie Laveau is still up to her tricks and has now gained some powerful new fae help. The Sisters, though, are also gaining friends and allies. A coalition is forming to police the amount of power the factions have and to allow for grievances to be brought and judgements rendered.

Meanwhile, things are also heating up on the romance front and the party-planning business is going full steam ahead. Cami has a popular guided tour gig going at the plantation and buildings are still being restored to allow for expansion. Now, all the sisters have to do is keep from getting themselves killed...

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

So much action!!! Marie Laveau is not willing to give up her grip on New Orleans, she is the Queen (in her own head maybe) but going toe to toe with the 6 sisters may not be such a good idea, not being brought up with magic, they think differently to the other supernatural denizens and I am loving it. A great series a great author and I highly recommend this series

I really enjoy this series, in fact all series by Brenda Trim, I love the way she interacts each series, though you don't need to read all the series to understand the action, it is just a little blip, but I love the peeks into what is going on with Fiona or Phoebe while we are with the 6 sisters.

Brilliant Series

French QuarterFae: Twisted Sisters Midlife Maelstrom (Midlife Mysteries & Magic Book 22) by Brenda Trim. Dani and Lia are kidnapped by Marie but manage to give their location to the sisters. During the rescue Marie is badly injured but it doesn’t stop her. It is agreed that an Aegis Council is set and at the first meeting all the different supernatural species were present and signed up to not attack each other. Marie was there and signed up but found a way of circumventing the rules.

New enemies, just what they need.

The sisters are confronted with a new player on their field of battle. After two of the sisters are kidnapped by Marie and rescued. They form an alliance with the other and varied members of the magical community in New Orleans. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean Marie has given up.
Fascinating characters and plenty of twists made it impossible to put this book down. I love this book and this series.

Another fine mess.

Well, Mari captures Low and Danielle and there seem pretty screwed. Quick thinking on Kia's part gives them a way to get through to the other sisters, Lucas and Noah and not a second too soon they show up to rescue them. Then the Sisters come up with the idea of forming a council for the other supernaturals of the city.
This was a really great book, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it, the rest of this series and all this inkslinger's other works.

The Six Twisted Sisters are in trouble again. The Voodoo Queen has kidnapped and cursed two of the sisters. The other four sisters, the wolf shifters, a gargoyle, and the witches all come to the rescue. I wonder what troubles the sisters will have next. This story has plenty of action, romance, and steam, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

An excellent continuance.

This book was excellent! I love the way a huge extended family of witches, shifters, and other magical beings grow closer together and look out for each other against evil. Yes it is just fiction and fantasy, but it also engenders helps the reader to see the more friends they have the stronger they are against the problems we all face. I definitely recommend this book and the rest of the series.

Their magic is growing and more abilities are making themselves known, which is good since Marie is back to cause more chaos in the Quarter. I'm anxious to see exactly what kinds of magic the sisters possess and how they use it to protect New Orleans.

This series is such a great way to lose yourself in a fantastical story of magic, midlife, and mayhem.

Come to Willowberry Plantation and meet the twisted sisters! They only discovered a few months ago they were witches, and are still finding and honing their abilities while running their party planning business. Marie Leveau, the supposed voodoo queen, hates them and is trying to destroy them, but it’s not as easy as she thought it would be.

Magic in all forms that make this book French Quarter Fae so incredible

I have loved all four books so far. I haven’t had to scan through as the stories hold your interest. I’m looking forward to reading number 5, and I really hope that there are at least 10 more because there are so many ways to keep this alive.

once again

This series is full of twists and turns live and laughter. But still poses a multitude of questions like will the twisted sisters defeat the dark fae and the voodoo queen?
Will they make New Orleans a better place for the paranormal community? Will they get a happy ever after? Or even simply a quiet life

Ugh...can you say editor?

Now, can you find one? This book really needs it! Having said that, the author should spend more time in each book getting into the personalities of the sisters. She needs to weave more into the story instead of just flat saying so and so is like this. Give them mannerisms and more physical descriptions. Still like the premise and moving on...
