Even more strange is when they pull her out of the water, Meg realizes the girl looks very familiar. As a matter of fact, she looks just like her.
Like an identical twin.
But Meg has no twin, at least none that she knows of, and no one at the party knows this girl or can say where she is from.
What is Meg’s mom hiding from her?
FBI profiler Eva Rae Thomas is caught in distress at home with her children and between the two men in her life when she is asked to help out on the case.
Who killed Meg’s identical twin and why? And where did she come from?
As Eva Rae Thomas digs deeper into the story, she can barely believe the revealed secrets, secrets so cruel that someone is ready to go to great lengths to keep them hidden.

Ummm ... Ok ... Welp ... Just when you think you have it all figured out ... Boom!! Meg Kellan was talked in to throwing a party while her mom was out of town. The next morning after the party, her boyfriend Trevor spots a body at the bottom of the pool. He dives in and pulls the body of a girl out. The girl looks just like Meg! Does Meg have a twin? Is one of the twins good and one of them bad? You can only imagine the questions that need to be answered!
Loaded with suspense, twists, danger and lies. It goes back and forth from present to past so you get to see why all of this happened. This is book #11 in the Eva Rae Thomas series.
This my first book from the author and I really enjoyed it. The murder mystery was intriguing and the twists unexpected. There wasn't a dull moment and it kept me guessing.
While I did like the book, it did feel a little jumpy at times and I was confused about the plot at a couple places. Regardless, it was a good read.
Many thanks NetGalley and Buoy Media for sending me a copy.
YOU BETTER RUN is one TWISTY psychological suspense thriller! Talk about human evil, twisted and bizarre and convoluted and maximally unexpected revelations! Also this novel brings serious LGBTQ + rep, as the Series protagonists (FBI Special Agent Eva Rae Thomas is confronted by a non-binary approach and Gender Dysphoria in her immediate family (and emotionally stumbled and freaks out); and farther into the story comes an additional case of Gender Dysphoria with evil and tragic consequences. I read it in one I-can't-stop-reading session. There's also romance and other emotional entanglements, and some very perturbing scenes and multiple villains.
You Better. Run Willow Rose Mother who goes away for the weekend, comes home finding police surrounding her home. That was one big shock, the next was her daughter telling her of the body in the pool. The third shock was it looked like Meg sitting in her living room.. Thus begins another roller coaster of a plot. Eva Rae brought in as consultant Secrets then murder to cover them up. A fascinating plot, as you try to put the pieces of who and why and what did happen, nineteen years ago. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
When Meg Kallam wakes up from a night of heavy partying, she discovers a body in her pool, As shocking as that is, the dead girl could be her identical twin except Meg has no twin. FBI profiler Eva Rae Thomas is called in to investigate. Who is the dead girl who looks exactly like Meg, how did she get into the pool without anyone seeing her, and was she the target or was it Meg? And when she talks to Meg’s mom who also claims to have no knowledge of who this dead girl could be, why does there seem to be something off about her responses?
You Better Run is the eleventh in the Eva Rae Thomas Mystery series. It is one heck of a fast and furious thriller with all the non-stop twists and turns any thriller fan could ask for, the kind of book you need to put time aside for because you are not gonna want to put it down until the big reveal at the end. This is the first book I have read by this author but it definitely won’t be my last. I would like to thank Netgalley and Buoy Media for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first book by Willow Rose, this was fast engaging read with a whole lot of "Who done it?" I am still in shock because just when I thought I had it figured out it totally changed.
There is party, then a body in the pool the next day.... The crazy part is the girl in the pool is the twin of the girl Meg throwing the party. The twin she never knew existed, how??? FBI profiler Eva Rae Thomas is asked to help out with case, she has her own issues right now with her kids and in-between two men. Who killed Meg's twin and why? What secrets is her mom hiding?
Thank you to NetGalley and Buoy Media for copy of this book for my honest review.
This book was an interesting read. I haven't read any of the other books in the Eva Rae mystery series and jumped right in with this one. Overall, there were some good plot twists and it was a very fast-paced novel, which I liked. However, I felt like it was lacking depth and seemed really rushed and amateurly written.
What I liked: - The fast paced writing of this book - Eva Rae was a super likeable character
What I didn't like: - The gender dysphoria plotline with Eva Rae's daughter. It felt like this was included just to make sure this book is addressing current issues and remaining relevant versus actually contributing to the story itself. - The jumping around between different timelines and POVs was confusing at times. I felt like maybe the book could've stuck to one or two POVs and made it easier for the reader. - The plot twist in this one was a bit too unbelievable and far-fetched for me. If you've read this book, you'll know what I'm talking about. - The writing style. It seemed like this book was written using voice to text. Kind of like it was someone's exact thoughts versus thoughtfully choosing words and phrases.
Thank you to Netgallery and Willow Rose for the ARC copy of this book!
You Better Run starts with a bang, or rather a splash, and continues the fast, twisty pace until the end. Until about the 80% mark, this book was a 5-star read for me, with several different story/timelines being told, and the constant tension of how they were going to finally come together keeping me intrigued. The mystery of who is chasing Susan, who murdered the girl in the pool, and how the story of Tom and Raina is related to Susan's story had lots of surprises that were revealed bit by bit. The ending was, in my opinion, a bit odd and unbelievable, which kept me from completely loving this book.
I have not read any books by Willow Rose prior to You Better Run, but feel that the story was easily a stand-alone. I will likely try to start the series at the beginning, as there were a few references to prior storylines, though I did not feel that dropping into this book was an issue.
Thank you to Netgalley, Buoy Media and the author, Willow Rose, for the opportunity to read an advance copy of You Better Run. The opinions in this review are my own.
Susan Kellam has only one daughter, Meg...or does she? That doubt arises in the mind of Detective Eva Rae Thomas, as she wonders why Susan fainted at the sight of the bloody corpse of a young woman, pulled from her swimming pool. Why was the girl there? Why does Susan leave her stuff at the hospital? Why does Trevor have a knife in his truck? Where's Meg's Dad and who's Noah?
You Better Run is the latest, unputdownable thriller from the Queen of Scream, Willow Rose. The 11th Eva Rae Thomas novel will grip you firmly by the imagination as you wrestle with the clues and try - but almost certainly fail - to work out who the manic serial-killer is. Grab your copy today and lock all the windows and doors before you begin!
This book is one for the shelf! It kept intrigued from the beginning. It sure had its amount of twist! It was hard to keep straight for a while between going back and forth and with all the characters but it was still a really good read!
This kindle e-book novel is from my Kindle Unlimited account book 11 of 16
Willow Rose 🌹 is one of my favorite authors.
Eve Rae Thomas is involved in a case of a murdered girl who is a twin sister to her daughter. A fast moving action adventure mystery with a great ending.
I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of romantic family and friends relationships adventure mystery novels 👍🔰. 2024
Twisted and bizarre …..and I’m not talking about Eva Rae, but rather author, Willow Rose. She continues to come up with some exciting story lines. This time about twins. One is good, but one is evil. But which one is the good one? This one is not to be missed. Thank you to the author for an ARC. The comments and review are my honest opinion.
YOU BETTER RUN is full of lots of twists and turns. Suspense thrillers are one of my favorite genres to read, and this one certainly fit that bill. I would most certainly recommend this book to others.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for my honest review.
Twisted, crazy story yet so engrossing that I read it in one sitting. I love the Eva Rae series. I have read others by the author that were good but none of them compare to this series, in my opinion.
Wow, just wow! I read "You Better Run" in one sitting. Is one twin always bad and one twin always good? Hmm, maybe? As usual Willow Rose has quite the twists and turns in this book, with a very satisfying ending. I thought that I knew what was going on a few times, but in the end I didn't get how all of the situations came together. If this review gets sent to Amazon, I received an advance copy of "You Better Run" in exchange for my honest review.
A fast and engaging read that will suck you in to thinking you had it all figured out just to throw a curve ball and send your mouth gaping open with shock!
Meg throws a party while her mother is away but things get right out of hand the next morning during the scramble to clean up any evidence of a party when a dead girl is found in the pool. To make things even crazier, the dead girl looks just like Meg!
A twin sister she never knew existed but who would want to kill her and why?!
Meg’s mum insists she only had one child at birth! But is there something she is hiding? And why?
Have you ever seen the old cowboy serial movies, where the hero gets into a preposterous predicament at the end of every episode, and then next Saturday gets out of his difficulty in an equally preposterous way? If you liked those, you will love this book. The heroine is really dense, the plot is ridiculously contrived, and literally nothing is believable. Just silly. I got the book for free, and it was overpriced.
I was excited to receive this book from Netgalley as it is my favorite genre.
It's this first book I have read by Willow Rose and although I loved the story and was kept guessing I was confused often.
I have a neurological disorder and then the constant jumping left me going back trying to get back on track It is a good book besides the confusion that may be just me.
Many thanks to Buoy Media, NetGalley as well as Willow Rose for providing this ARC in exchange my honest review.
YOU BETTER RUN by WILLOW ROSE is one of the best thrillers I've ever read. It's a roller coaster ride of suspense, mystery and intrigue that keeps you on the edge of your seat. With plenty of twists and turns, it's impossible to guess the outcome until the very end. Highly recommended!
I found the writing in this book somewhat juvenile and the fact that a seasoned FBI agent and experienced police detective would put themselves in ridiculous situations where civilians would be allowed to be around them while actively investigating a violent murder. They bumbled through solving the crimes that just kept the bodies piling up, all the while repeating the same mistakes throughout the book. The only reason I kept reading was a matter of principle since I hate to quit a book. I’m just glad it was a fairly short read, and I didn’t waste too much time.
I SO AGREEDED WITH EVA RAE, I'M OLD TOO, NOR DO I UNDERSTAND ALL THE NEW PRONOUNS. IF NOT FOR MY KIDS EXPAINING IT TO ME I'D BE LOST. I CAN'T SEEM TO REMEMBER ALL OF THEM. ARGH. IT SEEMED LIKE EVA RAE & THE POLICE OVERLOOKED SOME OBVIOUS CLUES. I THINK THEY'RE SO WRAPPED UP IN THEIR PERSONAL PROBLEMS THEY CAN'T THINK STRAIGHT. SINCE I'M A HOPELESS ROMANTIC IT MADE ME ANGRY BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T SEEM TO DECIDE WHICH MAN SHE WANTED. I DIDN'T CARE FOR THE ENDING, WAY TOO CONFUSING AND TWISTED TO BE BELIEVABLE. REMINDED ME OF A FAIRY TALE WHEN THE EVIL WITCH DEMANDS YOUR FIRST BORN. ;<
It was an excellent read, but very messed up regarding gender. Twins starting out fraternal male and female cannot be made genetically identical. Also, it was hard following this bad twin that was sometimes female and sometimes male. What’s up with that? It was a mess. You can’t bring a unit of blood home from the hospital and transfuse someone without cross matching without killing the person. That was disturbing to read. Sorry Willow. Maybe I didn’t follow you very well.
I’ve read this whole series and have really enjoyed them all. However, I didn’t love this one simply because of the big hot issue in this book. I won’t say anything else on that. Ending always surprises me in this author’s books.
Good writer who sold out to the reprobate delusions of this current misguided culture. Unfortunate waste of talent that could actually do harm by trying to legitimize insanity.
Although I really like this author this is my least favourite book. I think there is enough evil to write about linking it to some obscure and possibly not real circumstances does this author no favours.
I love books by Willow Rose and this one was a great one! There’s a lot to unpack and I couldn’t do it justice, so what I will say is this… There was a girl who has a party while her mom is out of town The next day she thinks her biggest problem is cleaning the house before mom gets home, but now they find a dead body in the pool and here’s the kicker she looks exactly like the girl who had the party Meg! In another home in Cocoa Beach Eva Ray is talking to her oldest child who now wants to be called Ali instead of Olivia. As a loving mom she wants to get her head around this until she ask questions but like any teenage female child she gets annoyed and out of sorts and when either races so you don’t have a gender? Holly X claims “I do have a gender!“ and on and on until the phone rings her cell rings and finally they send over Matthew to personally get Eva Ray. They also have two other couples that’s involved in the story and eventually be connected in one way or another Eva Ray will also take a trip to Toronto and the whole time the guy she's“Not dating“ and who is also writing a book about her tags along needless to say Matthew isn’t happy about it at all. This book was so good and I thought I knew the ending when I was 75% done but I had no clue it was so good! I love Willow roses horror books but she really has great stories in the Eva Rea series are usually listen to them on audio but whether you read it on Kindle or listen on audio they’re always thrilling and have a surprise ending. I loved it! I received this book from net galley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review but all opinions are definitely my own.
Willow Rose has pulled another great book out of the bag with this edge of your seat thriller. Meg Kellan stared at herself lying dead by the side of the pool. Meg had been coerced into having a party whilst her mother was out of town, when, the following morning, her boyfriend Trevor dove into the pool to retrieve the body of a girl from the bottom, Meg was nonplussed, the girl was identical to her, did she have a twin ? she didn't think so, who was this girl ? FBI profiler Eva Rae Thomas was brought in by Cocoa Beach PD to help solve the case. Eva Rae's life was not running smoothly, her daughter Olivia was having problems with her sexual gender, she din't want to be a "her" or a "him" she wanted to be a "them", Eva Rae didn't understand, she was trying but at the moment she didn't have time. Added to her problems at home, journalist, Alexander Huxley was shadowing her to write a book, it was obvious that he had feelings for her, much to the disgust of her ex, Matt Miller of the Cocoa Beach PD, the overload of strutting testosterone when they were together was getting to Eva Rae, she was attracted to Alex but was she over Matt ? This story twists and turns, the suspects are many as is the body count, try as I might to guess the outcome I was totally off course, I thought that twins must be involved somehow but nothing added up, the author has uniquely woven in nail biting suspense, thrown in red herrings and a totally unexpected but satisfying ending. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
When you're home alone , what are you going to do ?. Hold a party of course, that's what Meg did when her mother was away. Little did she know a night of partying will soon turn into a nightmare. The body of a young girl is found floating in the pool by Meg and her Friends. FBI profiler Eva Rae Thomas is called in.
😊What i liked -
✔ I liked how the book pulls you into the mystery in the first dew pages itself. ✔ I was constantly trying to figure out or you can say solve the case myself with every lead presented (of course i failed miserably) . ✔ The book is full of suspense, lies and unexpected twists. ✔ There is a hint of romance in the book , but I am glad it was just a hint. ✔ The book is fast paced , it keeps you at edge throughout. ✔ Even though this is book 11 in the series and i have not read the books before this, i did not feel out of loop.
🤔What could have been better -
✔ Though I loved the multiple storylines , I was sort of confused in a few places. ✔ I was a bit Disappointed towards the end.
📚Who Should read : 👶 Beginner's 🕵Thriller Lover's
📈My Rating : 3.75/5
P.s - I had always heard about the author's work but never read any. This being my first read of hers, I was quite taken by her storytelling. She has a knack of ensuring her readers are constantly thinking and wanting to know what's next.
Thank you Willow Rose, Buoy media and Netgalley for giving me a copy of this book.
Welcome to episode 11 of a B-grade mystery series. Eva Rae Thomas has little or no control over her personal relationships, at least two of which overlap with her professional life. The book centers more around her personal drama than her competence as an FBI agent. At the 80% mark, she decides to read a book, and people are amazed:
“What is she doing? She’s been sitting there for the past fifteen minutes, reading?” Alex asked. “Shh. Let her work her magic,” Matt said. “Don’t disturb her.”
Right. Blatant sexism doesn't help much:
He was a handful, but then again, he was a boy, and it was only natural that he was a little rowdier than Charlotte, who was always so gentle and sweet.
What a else is "natural"? A boss who goes by the moniker "Chief Annie"? She comes across as a firm but loving mom, thus casting professionals tasked with solving murder as children who need discipline. And actually, they do.
The final insult is the writing itself. There is little or no distinction in the characters' voices. Most noticeably, almost all of them have the same stammer, and resistance to contractions.
If you're looking for something to read, especially if you're looking for a murder mystery, you can do a lot better.
A teenager throws a party while her mum is away and wakes up the next morning to find a girl dead in the pool. The dead girl is your identical twin you never knew you had. FBI agent Eva Ray has to use all her investigative skills to sort this one out, especially when the mother, Susan, goes into hiding. It should have been a good book but it just wasn't.
There were a lot of red herrings and two timelines with a mother Raina and her husband Tom so the reader is trying to make sense of it all. The sleight of hand of who the killer was was well done but I just could not bring myself to like this book. I have read a few Eva Ray Thomas books and although I think she is a good investigator I just get so fed up with her "martyr" attitude and the way Willow Rose writes her characters in general.
The whole evil/good identical twins thing is so far fetched. The gender identity crisis Eva Ray's eldest is going through where she wants to be called O and referred to as they/them had me wanting to stop reading a quarter of the way through. The topics in the book just prove the whole world has gone mad and I don't feel the need to have it pushed down my throat in a book series I once thought was good. I won't be reading this author again, even if I were offered the book free.
