Adam Stowe alig várja a legjobb barátja lagziját. Sophie Wallis kevésbé izgatott a hétvégével kapcsolatban. Tasmina Perry has never let me down!! once I start her book, I can't stop reading.. not a thriller or murder mystery like the majority of her other books but I loved it nonetheless, she writes interesting characters I loved the women fiction/romance combo.. If you love reading about wedding settings and friend and family drama check this book out and definitely check her backlist she has so many amazing books!
Lovely story. There were funny bits and sad bits and some good old home truths thrown in there too.
Just goes to show people can put on a very different public persona than how they actually are.
A grand wedding is taking place over a weekend, EVERYONE is going to attend.
Sophie doesn’t understand why she was invited, she is the groom’s ex girlfriend and hasn’t been in contact with bride or groom over the years. Adam thought he was going to be best man, but really he also hasn’t much to do with the groom since they left school.
Sophie and Adam meet each other at the accommodation in a dramatic encounter very early on in the story, and Sophie later comes to Adam’s rescue digging him out of strife with the police. They also end up on the Singles Table at the wedding function.
Sophie comes to learn the real reason why Tim and Vanessa got together. She also learns the truth about her skiing accident which soon after Tim broke up with her, by letter.
Adam reconciles with his father and learns that what he thought had happened with his parents was not correct.
And Sophie learns to start taking a risk again through interaction with her ex’s mother.
Would love to read a part 2 of this lot as we only got to spend a weekend with them.
Once again Tasmina Perry tells a really good story.
*Discovered on Amazon Prime* A super easy read which I just could not put down. Typical chick-lit where you know what’s going to happen next, but before I knew it I was hooked. There’s just something about an easy read chick-lit and this one ticks all the boxes.
it was a cute story but i didn't feel like we saw much of a romance. i felt like it had a lot of potential and just didn't quite do it for me. definitely had some cute moments like the bar (when they pretend to be a married couple) but other than that i didn't feel invested in the relationship.
It has been way too long since I’ve had the pleasure of reading a Tasmina Perry book, can’t believe I left it so long, especially seeing as I do so love and enjoy her books. Always full on entertainment, drama and shocking moments when secrets or truths are revealed, of which this story had in a bundance.
This story was brilliantly written, loved getting to know all of the characters, well I say loved all of the, there were a couple I wasn’t overly keen on, what with their lies and hidden agendas. I’ll say no more on that though as I’m not one for letting spoilers out in my reviews.
All I will say is if you’ve never given Tasmina Perry books a go and you like this sort of genre, then don’t delay anymore, give her books a try and hopefully you’ll not regret and you’ll enjoy her books as much as I do.
Will sie Tim zurück erobern?
After a three year hiatus, successful UK contemporary fiction writer Tasmina Perry returns to the book world with a story of strangers that meet at a singles table at a wedding. Adam is looking forward to getting to know the groom again after drifting apart from his best friend many years ago. Sophie is attending the event quite reluctantly, as the groom is her ex and the big day is a sad reminder why they never ended up together. The two join a host of others on a table where a bunch of singles gather. As the wedding day passes, each will have a moment of something that will change themselves for the better. This book was released early in 2021 and puts the bestselling author right back amongst the wild of her chosen career. A tale about love, family, friendship, self discovery and finding the right people who make you happy and are right for you. Tasmina usually writes the perfect beach read, this one was vastly different and I didn’t really gel with it. I was quite interested in the premise but found the characters annoying and very superficial. To be honest, I’m a little underwhelmed by the novel. The plot is straightforward, there’s nothing new and it didn’t really rock my world. If you pick this book up, hopefully it will work for you.
I really enjoyed this. Well written, gently amusing and with a realistic happy ending.
I'm so tired of romance novels consisting of too-good-to-be-true heroines with 'tragic' back stories meeting some unbelievably attractive guy (who's probably been hurt/let down by a previous girlfriend and has now sworn off relationships), falling deeply in love (lust!) at first site, separate due to a very contrived mis-understanding only to fall back into each other's arms in the last few pages and swear undying love.
This story has well written characters, with flaws, most of whom were likeable (and the ones that weren't likeable weren't supposed to be) and all of whom are relatable.
If you want a well written, easy to read book that leaves you feeling happy then this is the book for you.
I love Tasmina Perry. Always have. However, this book is utterly boring! I have been stop starting it since the first week of February. It truly is going nowhere. In the interim I have read 5 other books, including a good thriller by same author.
What a boring read, something not synonymous with Tasmina. This morning, with over 100 pages to still go, I DNF this book, as it truly is going nowhere. There is no purpose to this story. Nothing to tell. Why did she wrote this book? Can't believe I've wasted the last week trying to get into it, and just failing. The ebook I'm reading also had a lot of typos, more than any book I've read to date.
I would not recommend this book unless you looking for mindless fluff.
I chose this book on a whim as I had been reading lots pf thrillers. I am glad I did because it gave me just the lift in mood I needed. Brilliant story with some hidden messages about not taking life or the people in it for granted. I did not give five stars as I did feel at one point the story lost its way and the author was over describing which I then found myself drifting a little whilst reading it. I will however chose another read from this author as I believe reading more than one book from a great author gives me more of a feel for their writing technique.
Wow! At the start of this book I thought I was going to have to mark it down. I was expecting the usual fast-paced, raunchy Tasmina Perry summer beach read and this book certainly isn’t that. A perfect beach read, yes. But none of the usual steaminess, just a very sweet, extremely appealing love story, that grew and grew on me. No surprises or shocking twists, but still a story that managed to remain fresh and original. Puts this author right back up there with my favourites, and greatly increases the chance that I will read a second book her before this summer draws to an end.
I loved the underlying message throughout the book that highlighted how small decisions had bag impacts, both good and bad. The characters felt relatable and the whole book working around a wedding was brilliant. The ending felt a bit abrupt and rushed. There was amazing character development throughout but then it felt like someone fast forwarded the ending to get it over with. The ending didn't match the rest of the rhythm of the book. However, it was a great read.
No flashbacks, but the two MC's spend most of this book reflecting on their lives. Sophie was a compelling character, she suffered trauma from an accident that ended her relationship with her ex the groom. I did like the premise of the "Singles Table" and have been to a number of weddings to know that it is the fun bunch. But there wasn't enough between Sophie and Adam, in fact a number of storylines where just left without any resolution. Could have been better.
Lovely little chick flick , easy to read , pretty predictable but enough twists and turns to make it fast paced and enjoyable. Has a little more substance than some other romance books. This is the sort of book to wrap yourself up into , like a warm blanket on a crispy day. As with many chick flick rom coms .. I’m left craving a more powerful and fuller ending. Hence the 4 not 5 stars. Thank you Tasmina Perry. It was a fun read x
This is officially my favorite Tasmina Perry book. I am used to the steamy international men and women of mystery, sleazy, greedy, beautiful beautiful people with little remorse. This was different, sweeter kind of. Yes, there was a nasty twist, it wouldn’t be a Perry book without one. But I thoroughly enjoyed this book….enough that I might read it again.
A little short to be honest but then it was nice to read a chick lit that didn’t drag out it’s storyline so i suppose it’s 50/50. Nice characters, a little predictable in certain parts but then jumped around in others. A good read if you’re stuck for something to read with a coffee on an afternoon, not quite the sun lounger material some of ms Perry’s other books are.
Loved this! Funny, well observed and brilliantly written, if you love a wedding like me, this is definitely for you. Perry has weddings down pat in this great story of the guests at the Singles Table and how over the space of a wedding weekend, they come to see what’s been blocking their own paths to happiness. I raced through it and am now pining for a wedding invite to pop through the door.
This is the first book I have read by Tasmina and it certainly won't be my last. I really enjoyed her styles of writing. The book is based through the eyes of 2 main character Sophie and Adam but we still get to meet other characters some we enjoy others not so much.
Loved this book. Laugh out loud and in next breath want to cry . Everyone one the singles table had their own story, happy or sad really worth reading for the feel good factor . Also shows how small white lies can gather momentum and turn everyone's lives in different directions.
Such a fun and light read about a wedding and the people at the singles table. Adam is there for his best friends wedding but his life is in a bit of a turmoil. Sophie is the groom’s ex, and after a tragic turn of events that changed her life, she still Harbors feelings for him. A cast of interesting characters make this a delightful book!
I love this book so many twists and turns kept you not sure where it would go next. I was sad when it ended. I would love a what next story as it finishes with lots of possibilities First time I’ve read on of this authors books, hopeful her others are as good
Nicely written, main character, Sophie, is a lovely character you are happy to journey with. Nothing outstanding to make it a five star story but an easy autumn night read.
Really enjoyed this book, so many interesting characters with their own stories to tell and don't we just love it when all comes good. Would have loved to have read more.
Really enjoyed reading this book, the characters are very good finding out about your past and thinking that someone else had caused an accident. Facing up to your past and being able to move on and start a new life for yourself.
