The author of this web/light novel series has run out of ideas. Although main character (The Great Cleric - Luciel) needs to rescue the rest of the Dragons and the Spirits, but at this pace, it will take around 10-12 more volumes. This Volume 9 has filler to about the 70-75% mark (page 120). The main character still has to defeat the Demon Lord. Both the Priest and Cleric professions or jobs are personnel within an organized religion, derivative from this fact, is the reason that most learn the healing arts and become "healers", but Priests and Clerics aren't necessarily related to the usage of magic or the magic arts. So. will the main character, Luciel, regain his healing abilities? In this Volume 9, main character, Luciel, takes the Eternal Dragons Trial. Because the Dragons, the Spirits and The Great Cleric have all been "cursed by the Wicked One", everybody is "weak" or "powerless"... If you read from Chapter 14 (page 119) you actually won't miss a thing (well, you can look at the grayscale vector illustrations while you get to page 119...so that you don't miss a thing. Since Volume 10 of The Great Cleric was first published in January of 2022, maybe by January of 2023 they will have the English version translated and published...
With his holy magic inaccessible, Lucien decided to go to the City In the Sky with nothing more then a faint hope he should be able to retrieve it. Research in its libraries on itself are probably not enough. Luciel is well aware of both Immortal Dragons and great spirits being behind the city flying and he cannot help but dread whatever the Wicked One wrought within the city's foundations.
The story progresses step by step and it must be said that the author goes out of their way to make each encounter with the Immortal Dragons different. Luciel is also much more likeable character when worried by an actual problem instead of whining about events mostly of his own making. The book is light on action, and what is there is short and to the point, not unexpected by this volume in the series. Having said that, progress can at times be rather slow and the ending is not particularly promising. I never believed in the where is smoke there is fire when it comes to rumours which is used an excuse to believe rumours that can simply not be substantiated even more so considering the man's earlier and very public actions. It makes me worry a bit about volume 10. I will see.
Otherwise this is a good addition to the series and an enjoyable read.
I feel like this was a quick resolution to Luciel’s problem. I liked it overall but it has so many issues to begin with. How the wicked one tainted two dragons without the spirit noticing? How the city is still float without the dragons. No answer or information about the sisters new power. How many people know about Luciel issues and how he is in the sky city. I have more questions about the flow of the story.
Brought the book when first released only got 20 pages and was so annoyed. I recently re read the remarks and got hopeful that it was fixed so deleted and reinstalled still nothing so like an idiot I permanently deleted and re brought the book I. Good faith. But no still only gives the 20 page preview not worth it an I was really enjoying this series too
3.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Luciel is off to the city in the sky to figure out a way to save his holy magic. The storyline itself is good and I like the little nuggets that was tied in but some of it was definitely fluff and unnecessary. Still plan to read the next though 👍🏽
There was zero point to this volume. Just an excuse to let the MC finally become a sage. Hell, there wasn't even an explanation on why the tree and fruit were there. The more I read, the more my frustration and dissapointmen grow with this series.
This book really just felt like a side mission that connects some dots on the way to the next milestone in the plot. It didn't stand up too well as a standalone story.
Luciel has finally made it to the City in the Sky---although under less than ideal circumstances. He's hoping the City of Mages can find some way to re-activate his Healing magic. Preferably before anyone outside his small group of friends finds out. But the City proves yet another intersection of spirits, dragons, and destiny . . .
In some ways this is back to where the series started---Luciel trying to train his way into some form of power, so he can convince himself he isn't useless. The restricted location means most of his usual party had to stay behind, with only the two newest girls accompanying him.
It was nice to see the story veering back towards Luciel being accidentally overpowered, although I still feel it doesn't really have any idea of what to do with any of the girls. They feel very much slapped into the story purely for the sake of adding girls, despite the attempt at giving them a bigger destiny to go along with his.
Overall this manages to resolve the central issue a little too neatly, but at least Luciel is finally admitting he's got to finish the grand quest set before him. I rate this book Recommended.
