Except the more time I spend with him, forced together to play our part with the gang watching aboard a fancy cruise ship…

One stateroom, one bed, one mission… The easier it becomes.

My past has left me scarred and skittish of men.

Yet, Casey seems determined to prove I deserve all the good things in life.

There is a dangerous motorcycle gang trying to get a foothold in Denton Valley and Trident Rescue is determined to stop them. Casey McKenzie’s mission pairs him with Sonia Dancer on a cruise ship to make contact with some of the brains of Satan’s Armada, including a lawyer Sonia went to law school with. And then the gang’s incursion into Denton Valley’s hospital endangers Dr. Win Carrell, who has been made miserable on an ER rotation by Dr. Matthew Jennson, her brother Sith’s best friend. Both couples go through quite brutal experiences but it was very satisfying to see them come through it all stronger than ever, despite issues in all of their backgrounds they have to work through. The bikers were unrelentingly evil, which was a bit distressing, as well as the brutality shown to not only the two women, but other women as well. I could have done without some of that, but all in all two great romances in one book to enjoy.

Meh. Talk about a failure to launch.

This thing started out decently enough, but lost its luster the further it went on, which--given the overdone cliché of its main plot combined with the under-development of its main characters--was barely there to begin with. With the exception of the subplot occurring simultaneously within the main one, nothing in this story was very compelling. I found it neither believable, memorable, or impactful. Not that I require all of those things in the stories I read, but to not have experienced ANY of them? That's asking for a bit much for me to accept. I barely have the energy or stamina to properly review this thing, so lemme just spew spurts:

The Good

* The spelling of the hero's name being "Casey." I hated having to deal with it spelled as "Cassey" during the last book. It was such an eyesore and I'm glad it was changed.

* Though painfully short-lived (and therefore unconvincing), the banter between Casey and Sonia was still pretty great fun.

* A properly thrilling 3rd act. I had no idea how it would be rectified. It was one of the few times the book was unpredictable.

* The subplot involving Matthew and Winifred (Win), which was FAR more interesting a story than main characters Casey and Sonia. Pity this entire book wasn't more focused on THEM.

The Bad

* Neither Sonia nor Casey is properly developed to the points that they SHOULD have been to convince me of their sudden love, especially with much they seemingly hated each other in this book and the last. Theirs was a relationship founded only on sex (literally) before suddenly becoming love, which is my personal pet peeve in romances.

* Villainous biker gang plot was a tad too ludicrous for my taste. I get the threat in principle, but it just didn't have enough oomph to really wow me.

* Because the narrative loads are shared by four characters (Sonia, Casey, Matthew, and Win), the entirety of everything going on felt generic and rushed, including their love stories. Even though I would have loved Win and Matthew to be the dominant couple this go around, I would have preferred it even more if they had gotten their own book.

*Glaringly obvious missed detail on the author's part in a scene involving security footage. During the scene, two characters witness the footage involving a mutual friend. Later on, one of characters is shocked and disappointed that the footage was purposefully hidden from them. Um...what? I'm thinking the author meant for the footage to be grainy with unidentifiable people but forgot to mention it. D'oh.

The Ugly (spoilers)

* All sexual encounters between the main characters Casey and Sonia (of which there were two) being in the presence of an audience. Maybe that appeals to some readers, but not me. How you gonna feel up a woman in the presence of your brother? Why is anyone even okay with that? Casey I can KINDA understand, since he was well-established as a playboy in this book and the last and I guess is not shy about being sexual with Briar watching, but Sonia? For HER to be totally fine with having Casey fondle her while Briar watches? It was so awkward and gross.

* The one and only sex scene between Sonia and Casey was even worse, as it involved them doing the deed extra hard in front of a leering audience. Granted, the encounter was forced at gun point, but given the graphic description, Sonia's cool comfort, and the fact that there was no other sex scene afterwards, it made the encounter the ONLY one we readers are privy to. The entire thing could have been better handled by easing back on the details of it to better magnify the fact that it was seen as rape (on Casey's part), and reapplying the details on a more meaningful, FUTURE encounter. But leaving it as is like that, having forced sex with bad guys panting as they watched, as if the moment was supposed to be hot, was just too off-putting to me.

This was officially the worst entry in the series for me. I'm not cutting and running, though. If there's another entry, I'll be there to read it. I just hope it will at least better than this trashy one. Click here for my random commentary.

I enjoy this series and think the author has built a complex world full of intriguing characters I want to read about and keep hearing from as the series progress.

This is a bit of a 2 for 1 in that you get 2 love stories, 2 couples whose destiny is separate yet intertwined at the same time.
This part actually works quite well and the storylines for each couple are interesting and you get lots of the trident heroes making brief appearances.

However it just missed the mark for me a little in terms of the characters them selves and storyline distribution.

Casey was built up to be a man of certain needs in the bedroom and yet this came to practically nothing in the book, in fact he came across rather…..vanilla and boring when it came to Sonia. I honestly thought we’d be heading into an MFM in this book given how he was portrayed in the previous book and this, yet with Sonia it just didn’t set the pages on fire for me.
Sonia I really wanted to grow a backbone - the way he continued to treat her as less than capable really grated on me and I felt she just kept going back for more and forgiving him.

Win I liked as a character as I did Matthew but they did get a little less page time than Sonia and Casey and their storyline did suffer a little for this with some stuff mentioned (such as her relationship with he father/ raised by her brother) that didn’t really get explored much.

Not sure this wouldn’t have been better as 2 separate novellas really.

I am however still looking forward to Briar and Sith getting stories.

Enemy Stand, the newest Trident Rescue series book six by Alex L. Liddell has four major characters—Dr. Winafred Carrell, Dr. Matthew Jennson, Sonya Dancer, and Casey McKenzie. The story revolves around a motorcycle gang named the Armada who want to move into the town and bring their illegal activities. The men—Jennson and McKenzie—are former military who now work for Trident Rescue in different capacities. Drs. Carrell and Jennson work for the hospital. Dancer is a lawyer. The book switches back and forth between the two couples telling the tale from their perspectives; however, they are all working against the Armada. Dancer went to school with the lawyer of the gang, so she is their “in” on the class reunion trip which includes some of the Armada’s top men. She must pretend to be McKenzie’s fiancé. Carrell and Jennson must patch up the wounded, and at one point, the hospital is overtaken by some of the criminal gang members. I thought I would not like the switching back and forth between the characters, but Liddell does such a good job of transitioning to them that readers don’t really mind it. The writing is seamless. The story is one for the adults as the gang infiltration part with Dancer and McKenzie was violent and explicit at times. There is an HEA with all. I enjoy Liddell’s stories to the point that I look forward to the next one in line because they are always great. She is one author to place on the "to read" list, and book lovers will be waiting and then binging her stories like me.

Two for one military romance!

Not just one Trident couple…we get two Trident couples!

Casey and Sonia from Enemy Chase finally have their time and we get Sonia’s friend Win and her military doctor, Matthew.

This is one is an action packed adventure from the er, to the streets of Denton and even on the high seas. The Armada picked the worst town to try and settle into. The Tridents are gods in this city and they fight tooth and nail for their family and loved ones.

Loved seeing past characters making appearances and their banter but loved the new ones introduced. Soo soo need Sith and Briar’s stories. Those men deserve their happily ever after too.

A m/f contemporary military romance x2. Lots of tropes throughout, enemies to lovers, best friends sister, hurt/comfort, found family, undercover mission, secret identities and happily ever after.

Multiple povs told in third person

Couples-
Win - medical professional and tech guru extraordinaire
Matthew - er doc and ex military
Sonia - lawyer
Casey - trident, retired military and lawyer too

Steam- 🔥 oh yeah…hot!

Where do I begin? There's a lot going on in Enemy Stand and it's completely captivating. A.L. Lidell weaves a tale around two romances that connect and interwine and are underscored by a vicious outlaw motorcycle gang, human trafficking, kidnapping and a hostage crisis. I was completely enthralled from the first chapter. It's a cover to cover read in one sitting.

Two couples who aren't exactly matches made in heaven, in fact they constantly bicker and seem to go out of their way to irritate one another. Trident Security and Rescue knows they can't allow Denton Valley to become a stronghold for Satan's Armada MC. In their efforts to disrupt the club's nefarious plans, two innocent women, Sonia Dancer and Dr. Win Carrell get caught up in the chaos. The two Trident men who are close to Sonia and Win, Casy Mckenzie and Dr. Matthew Jennson, go all out to protect the women they love...though they'd never willingly admit that, at least out loud.

Page Turning, heart pumping and heart warming

As an avid reader, it makes my day when I discover a new author to love. This was my first read by this author and I am now a fan. The stories were engrossing. I say stories because I got the stories of two couples in one book. Both couples were clearly in their own distinctive story but the writer cleverly and smoothly inter-wove the two together into one beautifully written piece. As I started reading I couldn't put this book down. I devoured it! The wonderful style of writing had me captivated. The pace of the writing kept my heart pumping in anticipation of what would happen next. This was really great storytelling as I could feel and imagine being right there in each scene. Rounding off this story, the writer put in some hot and spicy scenes that was written with class. Overall a great read!

Enemy Stand is a mixture of two couples stories intertwined which i loved. Lawyer's Sonia (FMC) and Casey have an intense loathing of one another. Well to be fair its Sonia more than Casey. So when Trident Rescue (which Casey and his brother are part of) have a job that needs both him & Sonia they end up having to rely on each other.

Whereas Doctors - Win & Matthew rub each other up the wrong way until events in their hospital become dangerous for Win. Especially when a motorcycle gang start causing trouble in Denton for all of them.

I loved both couples and this was a brilliant read, Ive genuinely enjoyed reading every book in the Trident Rescue series so far and this is a great addition to that.

Two for one:
I really enjoyed this double whammy, enemies to lovers romantic suspense novel. I was a bit confused at first as to why it featured two main couples but it all tied together and I came to enjoy following both romances. Whilst the 6th book in the series it can still very much be enjoyed as a standalone. It was the first book that I've read by this author and I certainly hope it won't be the last.
This book was intense and action filled and drew me in from the very beginning. There was an excellent mix of heart pounding action with meaningful dialogue and heart felt moments. I really liked both couples and felt a connection with all of them.

Enjoyed the dual pov from the 2 couples and was equally invested in each story which is unusual for me. I loved the friendship between Win & Sonia too and how they told each other everything and supported one another in hating on or liking the guys as dictated by events. Both guys are were a little too on the alpha-hole side of alpha for me but they grew on me as they grew on our heroines and I could totally see why they fell for them even as I too wanted to whack them upside the head on occasion for their cocky(Casey) bullying(Matt) attitudes at times.
I received an advanced copy and this is my honest opinion.

Wow! what a brilliant book, I had been looking forward to following the story of Casey and Sonia, but this book also has the treat of following Matthew and Win, as the two stories intertwine. What a fabulous read, brilliant and sometimes hilarious interactions between the protagonists and an exciting plot line that kept me turning pages until the small hours. Each time I felt that all the issues were resolved the excitement would kick off again. What an amazing roller coaster of a ride and one that left me totally bereft once I had finished reading. I cannot wait to see what this author has in store next. I recommend this book unreservedly.

Enemy Stand was a fast paced, action packed romance that follows two different potential couples (Win and Matthew) (Sonia and Casey). Each grouping faces off against their own battles and insecurities and we get to watch as they not only grow as individuals but also face off against some seriously scary bikers. I loved the adventures in this novel and the spicy times. If I could change one thing, I would give each couple their own novel because flipping between couples did get confusing at times. But the story is well worth the read!

This story packs double the impact. We get all the action. We get all the crime. We also get double the relationship. Casey and Sonia are set to knock heads. Win and Matthew are on their collision course. Their paths don't run smooth but they do run true. We get lots of banter and lots of snark. This is a very enjoyable 3.5 star read.

Would make a great movie!

This novel has more action of the conflict kind than I could imagine being in one book. There is a motorcycle gang involved (generally not my favorite group of characters). But the romance plots surrounding Matt and Win and Casey and Sonia were dramatic enough to shine through the violence. The story kept me up to finish it, which shows how gripping it was for me to read.

This is such a great read. So much happening in this one. I loved the way the various plots weaved together to make something fluid and seamless. 2 different romances in a sort of enemies to lovers theme, a MC causing trouble, drug and human trafficking.... This is an intricate book to read, fast paced and beautifully crafted, I loved it.

This had two pairs fighting for attention on their crazy love hate game. Both pairs had so much frustration with each other that it got abit fustrating to read. However things picked up as the action started with guns bursting & feelings blazing out of control.

Return to Colorado and another Trident story with two people on a mission who did not really like each other at the beginning as they drove each other crazy and then are forced together to try to get info on the bad guys. But of course there is trouble, drama, action, hilarious scenes, bad moments and fun times as these two are forced to get close. Loved it as usual.

My favourite book in the series yet, this book had everything! Suspense, heat and 2 couples needing to find their HEA. A great story with plenty of visits from some of the Trident crew. I can’t wait to see if we get a story about Sith and also one for Briar too. A fantastic book full of excitement with really charismatic characters. 5 stars from me.

This book was almost too good. The tension was overwhelming and I had to take a break (ie, sleep) so I could wrap my head around it. If I have a criticism, I'd say that the ending was a bit abrupt. I'd have loved an epilogue for both. Double wedding???

Another amazing read by A.L. Lidell I've really really enjoyed this series!

So this book is really two stories in one. Casey and Sonia and Win and Matthew. They are interwoven but it seems like both couples got cheated out of their own books. That is why I gave this a 3 star rating. I'll keep reading more of the series though.

Alex has utterly, totally and completely outdone herself with this latest edition of the Trident Rescue series. Her ability to grab my attention, keep it, envelop me in the story and characters, and refuse to let me go from page one through the end is unparalleled. She is a MASTER of writing a book that I can't help but binge read, because there's no "acceptable" spot to stop reading until I'm done, and even then she leaves me wanting more of her words! Not in an incomplete story way, but in a "I need to read more of her worlds" way. She writes catnip for readers like her life is dependant on it, and I will FOREVER fangirl over her talent! See y'all on another page!

While this is the first book that I have read by this author it won’t be the last! While the main storyline was the romance & adventures of Casey and Sonia there was another set of secondary characters that I am excited to read about! Both Sonia and Casey are lawyers and have gone head to head before. When she gets and invite to a cruise she is approached by Casey and Trident Security to use the cruise as an “in” to catch the bad guys😉. As they pretend to be a couple things hear up and get pretty interesting! Great elements of suspense and moderate levels of spice. Great evening read with lots of testosterone driven energy!
